diggz: Context is important, bros. You’ve been criticising MJ because he failed to score yesterday. But I can’t remember him having more than four chances to score, including a penalty, and he failed to do so.
We can all agree that his numbers are not the best, and he is not Haaland either. However, how would you describe a player of Haaland's quality who has missed several opportunities to bail his team out in the last 13 games? Did Haaland deliberately miss over four chances, including a penalty, yesterday or what? Is he trying to get his coach sacked or for City to turn into a mediocre team? Why would the best striker in the world choose not to help his team win a single game in 13, bros?
Oh, I forgot about the tired legs. Is the almighty Haaland suffering from tired legs too?
And if we are no longer discussing strikers like MJ, who failed to score in every game to secure their team’s three points, I guess we can all excuse Haaland then. When you are talking about Haaland missing 4 chances, can you show me if the 4 chances are in the 6 yards box like those of Jackson's? Nobody is saying strikers can't miss chances, but when you are notorious for missing big chances and not confident to shoot under pressure, there is a problem. We can't say because we signed Jackson for 45m so we should be ok with whatever he serves us, when we can easily get an upgrade to take us to the next level. Who were the great wingers that won the league for City last season? How many goals did Doku and Grealish score before they won the league? None of their wingers even scored 7 goals, but they won it with Haaland/Alvarez and Foden scoring most of their goals. We have Palmer doing a Foden, but Jackson can never be our own Haaland and we need him replaced asap if we want to contest for the league title. A better striker would have outscored Palmer on the chart with numerous chances in the box. Just replace the goal-shy Jackson with a natural finisher, then you will forget all these Sancho can't shoot noise. |

In case you missed their match yesterday, he missed over three chances created by those so-called tired legs and still failed to convert a free penalty. Surely, you must have a better excuse than tired legs for Haaland, who has literally ghosted in the last 13 games now. Take it easy please Messi and Ronaldo lost PKs before, no biggie. Haaland has been carrying those tired legs since the season started and it's normal for the burden to tell on him as it is right now. Haaland has 13 goals, while no other City player has even 5 goals. |

diggz: Agreed! But how do we explain wingers like Salah racking up goals and assists when Liverpool's main strikers like Nunez or Jota aren’t on the pitch, and Gakpo is being played as a winger these days?
And how do we explain that City isn’t doing better than us this season, even with the best striker in the world, Haaland?
The truth is, you’re right that we need a striker, no doubt! However, it’s simply crazy that all our wingers are putting up such poor numbers. The more I think about Sancho earning 250k with his miserable stats, the angrier I get. Neto and Madueke need to step it up too!
Make we spread the blame round bro We don't have tired legs like City in our team. Sterling has been chased way. Do you know the major reason Grealish has more Epl titles than the great Salah? Only Haaland as golden boot winners, delivered 2 Epl titles for the drunkard and Fraudiola didn't replace Grealish before winning the elusive Ucl. Maresca is a graduate of Fraudiola school of football, but he doesn't want to put the round peg in that round striker's hole. Anyways, he must have seen the light by bundling Jackson out of games recently. |

diggz: Alright, I see what you mean, so let me rephrase my position for you.
To be clear, I share similar position as Airmark because I think we should find a better striker to take the pressure off Jackson. This way, MJ can focus on developing his skills without the weight of being the main guy. Nkunku should be sold asap!
I totally agree that we need a stronger/better striker and that MJ should be criticised fairly when he fvcks up. But I don’t think it’s fair for MJ to take all the blame whenever we lose points. Airmark needs to be just as tough on our other attackers as he is on MJ. Striker's position is very important even when you have top players like Neymar, Messi, Hazard and William. They achieved more with Suarez and Diego Costa as strikers. It's because of the ineffectiveness of Jackson in the box that we are highlighting the weaknesses of our wingers in scoring. In our last 2 Matches we have seen multiple assists Jackson had denied Palmer, Sancho, Cucurella and others. We need a striker that can save the team with goals in difficult situations. Unfortunately Jackson is not that striker. |

Ibime: No matter how much you repeat this, it won't make it relevant
Our last 12 goals include 9 goals against Southampton and Spurs which were comfortable victories for which his goals weren't needed but assists were appreciated. Just two matches ago, he delivered the winner vs Brentford He doesn't have the killer instinct in the box, we don't need such window-dresser striker. We need a striker tht can save Chelsea when the chips are down. Our striker shouldn't be getting bundled out consistently for poor performance. He would be the first pro, whose supporter would defend for missing chances because his legs are not straight. Meanwhile, do you have him in your FPL team? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by airmark(m): 8:36am On Dec 27, 2024 |
diggz: Please keep blaming the club and the coach, not MJ. He has nothing to do with this. He is doing his job. The club can sign another striker whenever they think it's necessary.
Also, we shouldn’t focus all our energy on MJ alone. Sancho, earning 250k, should also be under scrutiny for his contribution. If we look closely, he’s making twice MJ's salary, nearly as much as Mo Salah, so he needs to step up his performance to justify his wages. If he fails to do so, he should be let go by the end of the season. In fact, if possible, we might as well terminate his loan in January given his output so far.
Madueke and Neto need to do better too. We're tired of seeing Neto run around like a headless chicken, while that Aba Lil Baby pretending to be a footballer, Madueke, just dribbles all day, taking 100 shots per game without scoring.
We need to criticise all our players, not just zero in on one of them, bro. Saying Jackson is delivering is nothing but fallacy, and I criticised those defending him even when his misses took points from us. The likes of Timbros wouldn't put him in their Fpl teams but they want him to continue leading Chelsea's attack. We need to replace him possibly this January, so that others will also sit right. |
