Please, folks: Let us refrain from insulting Mr. Mackjavel. We're doing a great disservice to the betterment of innocent Nigerians in Ivory Coast; as a matter of fact, we're putting their lives and property in jeopardy by being confrontational with him. The least we can do is to appeal to him for calm and understanding in lieu of daring him to do his worst. We will not be there to rescue our people. Remember what happened in Liberia; thousands of lives of innocent Nigerians were lost senselessly. Thanks for your cooperation. |
@OmogeNikky can definitely teach you Yoruba. |
Please, don't get angry ooo! |
MackJavel, my dear African brother: Please, be at peace with yourself. We Nigerians are peaceful people; and you can see that we have assumed our role as the leaders in Africa. We only try to help smaller African states like yours. When Charles Taylor did what he did to our citizens in Liberia, despite the fact that we were there to save his ruined nation, what did we do? He now lives comfortably in a villa in Calabar, Nigeria. We're good people! Let me ask you the followings: (a) During the Nigerian civil war, where did the rebel leader, Odumegwu Ojukwu, flee to? Your very own Ivory Coast! Did we start killing and maiming every Ivorian living in Nigeria then? NO! (b) When Yakubu Gowon was incriminated by Buka Suka Dimka in the bloody coup deta't that wasted our dear Murtala Muhammed's life, where did he flee to from Kampala? Britain! Did we Nigerians start killing every Briton in Nigeria then? NO! (c) When Umaru Dikko was alleged to have stolen more than four billion pound sterlings from Nigeria's coffers, where did he run to for refuge? Britain! Even though the British government did not cooperate with us in our endeavor to retrieving the ill-gotten cash! Nigerians didn't resort to violence against the Britons in Nigeria. (d) When the Cameronian gendarmes killed our border policemen in the '80s, and this same France was emboldening Cameroon not to apologize to us, what did we do? Although, it almost started a regional war between Nigeria and Cameroon/France. But we didn't threaten the Cameroonians living in Nigeria. (e) Again, during Bakassi imbroglio, the same France egged on the Cameroonian government of Paul Biya to be up in our face. Did we start killing the French people living in Nigeria? No, sir! So, please, don't harm innocent Nigerians living in your country. They are not politicians; most of them have lived in Ivory Coast for decades. OK! And whether you believe it or not they're the ones driving the economic engine of your country. If you people have a beef with our President because of his "meddling" into your affairs, please leave innocent Nigerians out of this. Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Stop pulling my legs. I'm still learning oooo!As long as my hero is still alive, I shall always accord him the respect to lead. "Erin kii fon k'omo e na o fon," A baby elephant does not blow where his mother blows." |
@OmogeNikky, I am familiar with that effort of his. But what I'm saying is something like an anthology. I was even contemplating, lately, about starting something like a Foundation -- a writers' shrine, perhaps -- in Fagunwa's name. We can not just allow that giant's name to be obscure. What do you think? |
@ seriks: Oh, my! You're so wonderful. I couldn't have said it better. Of them all, I only respect Tunde Kelani of Mainframe Production. This is the only person that takes his time and plots wisely before churning stuff out. |
@ OmogeNikky, I didn't know you were this hilarious. I like humorous people. But my translation wouldn't have given you the slightest chance to re-translate if indeed I knew how to accent via keyboard. By the way, I would like to implore Wole Soyinka to translate D.O. Fagunwa's works. What do you think? |
@ Mackjavel: Your threats about harming innocent Nigerians living peacefully in your country were childish. Just because you and your political "gendarmes" don't like Obasanjo's regional politics does not give you the right to harm the innocents. If you follow through on your threats, you'll have sinned big time; it doesn't matter whether you're Muslim or Christian. Killing or hurting innocent people is pure evil. |
@ Fabian, "o se joo omo to yayi" thank you, fine girl. But don't forget my friend o! Kalu Okpi of the On The Road fame. You don read o! Thanks. That's what we need -- well read Nigerians. |
Great idea! You guys are really trying. We shall soon send you the links. Thanks. |
@Nnenna, the title is The Cyclist. |
OK, "omo rere tii jiyan ale" a good girl that eats pounded yam for supper or dinner. |
@OmogeNikky, I have chosen to ignore your aggressiveness because of the respect that I have for females, but if you continue in your excessess I shall have to deal with you, intelligently. OK! |
All: I am not trying to win people to my side. Even though I prefer Soyinka's works to those of Achebe's, I still think Achebe is also great. There's nothing wrong to have preferences; most of you prefer Chinua's writings to Wole's, which may seem ludicrous to people like me. I just thought that Soyinka is the greatest of African writers because his writings challenge you if you're the type that love puzzles. In fact, I was first introduced to Things Fall Apart when I was in modern school; I didn't see any big deal in it. In my opinion, Soyinka is too much for Achebe. Even Buchi Emecheta writes better than Chinua Achebe. Read Buchi's Double Yoke and The Rape of Shavi, and you will bow to my girl! Please, guys, don't bite me for my opinion! Yes, I'm Yoruba! But I am not at all beclouded by tribalism. I have only stated the fact of the matter. You know what, though, there was only one writer that could have kicked Soyinka's behind -- his name was D.O. FAGUNWA! Ha, ha! Never heard of him? Read wider! |
****These movies are meant for the LIGs ( Low Intelligence Group).**** @Jio, good point! |
@Layi, you're definitely not making sense in your foolish delineation of the "tripartite" nature of God. May God help you and other idiots that subscribe to this your blasphemy! Shun trinity, God is one! |
@Darlingbas, [I did not understand your post] at all. So, is Nigeria a Christian nation? Or, what the heck are you talking about? I checked out your picture, you look like those religious fanatics; people who are wont to foment trouble in Nigeria. I think Nigeria has gone through enough religious strifes. If you think by Obasanjo being a "Christian" he can just do things at will, you're joking. And I saw somebody post something like the northerners are illiterate or nomadic -- you guys definitely don't know what you're talking about. I am not a northerner; in fact, I'm Yoruba, but tell me how many Ibos are uneducated that are suffering from serious illiteracy (they're at Alaba, Onitsha, and Okrika markets, selling cheap Taiwanese electronics); also, how many Yorubas are there with chronic illiteracy, selling meat at Ijora 7-UP? Please, you guys ought to come off your high horses! You think because the northerners are Muslims they are illiterate? In fact, christians are the most illiterate beings on earth -- if you want to know. Let's talk about what is not fair: Is our calendar Gregorian or Islamic? Are our rest days (Saturday and Sunday) Judeo-Christian or Islamic? In Islamic nations Thursday and Friday are rest days. I can go on and on about things that are unfair, but favorable to the christians of Nigeria. So, do Muslims go about crying or quibling about those issues? No! It is a fact, there are more Muslims in Nigeria than christians; with the exception of the eastern Ibos that are predominately christian, there are more Muslims in the south than chrstians. Are you going to say that the Yorubas are mainly christian? As a matter of fact, there are more Muslims than christians in Yorubaland. Period! Seun, you should let people know that religion issues are touchy and sensitive. They should refrain from those issues in order for peace to rule in the world! |
Seun, are you serious that you're ready to have sex now? What really changed your mind? Can you share it with us, please? Interesting! |
@damygurl, I don't understand for Texazzpete oooo! |
@Texazzpete, apology accepted. But why are you flaunting your youth? Is that a logical discourse? Remember, egg hatches into a cock. The older the wiser! A world of advise though, respect your elders. Wole Soyinka is like a great-grandfather to you, don't insult him. Please, the man has done enough for you to be calling yourself a proud Nigerian. |
@Texazzpete, you're right on the money. But don't consider this praise an olive branch since you and I are warring on another platform. @Omon! You'll never change. Call it what it is: These people are quacks, period! |
@Texazzpete or whatever you called yourself, there's no need for you to be insulting. You are welcome to discuss intelligently! Soyinka is a well rounded genius -- a poet, dramatist, playwright, writer, author, producer, director, inventor (invented the Oyo state of Nigeria's Road Safety Corps that later became a national sceme), human rights activist and so on. These are some of the characteristics of a living hero. A genius! Robust. Well-rounded. And multi-dimentional. Your hero, Achebe, will pray to even go near Soyinka's record. Or, maybe, you're one of those Americans who don't know any better! And if the Nobel Prizes are that easy to come by why hasn't your hero, Achebe, garnered one till date? Or, maybe, you can show me your own. If you're an African, you have gone gaga! If you're an American, worse still, shame on you because this African, who was born to speak Yoruba, has "re-invented" your language for you. You cannot touch him! You're the dopehead, I'm not! |
Stop pulling my legs. I'm still learning oooo!
