Bandit C.:
When you have close to 60 million individuals using limited broadband, it is bound to be slower compared to a place where 10 million individuals are using it. Simple logic.

Nigerians are known in Africa as some of the highest internet portal users. That means that more websites are accessed, more softwares are downloaded and more data are uploaded and since broadband is limited, you are bound to have slower internet speed in countries with large population of which a huge chunk of it make use of the internet often.

There is a good reason why Finland has the fastest broadband speed compared to Germany.

You people amaze me with how dull you are. A known ghanaian nationalist posts an article and you begin heaping insults on your home country. No one cares to apply his/ her sixth sense. Dullards
that make a lot of sense cool

PoliticsRe: Yoruba Emulate Kosovo - Want Out Of Nigeria by ak47mann(m):
Ibime: Why are you giving excuse of the Isokos, Itsekiris, Ogonis, Kalabaris, Ikwerres, Binis, Ishans, Tivs, Nupes, Igalas and other minor groups as a reason for Nigeria staying together? Have you ever interviewed an Ikwerre man to know his views on the Nigeria project? I assure you 90% of the Ikwerres are in support of the Ibo view on seccession. I lived in Ikwerre land for extended periods in PH. Even as we speak, the Tivs are locked in an independence struggle. All this talk is excuses excuses. I have met people from almost all the tribes you have mentioned and none of them want to carry on this false relationship with the Hausa/Fulani. Ikwerre's are pseudo-Ibo's. Ogonis have absolutely no time for the Hausas. Kalabari's are Ijaw. Ishans are fully with the Niger-Delta as are the Itsekiris. The only tribes that may be negatively affected by a split are some of the middle belt tribes - and trust me, they will gladly join the South if given a choice. So please, Yoruba people, get your act together so we can cut these parasites off.
cool coolyoruba Muslims is holding the rest of the yorubas in ransom, yoruba christian are handicapped basically they dnt have say..
PoliticsRe: Yoruba Emulate Kosovo - Want Out Of Nigeria by ak47mann(m): 7:59pm On May 18, 2012
DeepZone: Most of these tribes you mentioned are pseudo tribes and are under the Niger Delta. Ikweeree for sure are ibo; Itsekiri for sure are yorubas but either way, everybody is really tired. I'm preety sure that if the Biafran war starts again, the ibos/Biafrans will not stand alone again because what they forsaw in 1966, other southerners are just seeing it. If that war was to repeat itself again, i bet you the yoruba kingdom will declare their own republic before ojuwku finish their announcement and let me see how many factions the hausas will fight. These dudes are nothing but bloodsuckers, they only contribute to religious wars in Nigeria and nothing to the economy or general welfare. Do you know that if Nigeria eventually float a welfare system, they'll contribute to 80% of the beneficiaries? They are not in sports, academics, IT, entertainment, banking, research, technology or anything. Even the agriculture they attempt has been taken over by the yorubas. Ibos are in business, technology, sports, IT and finance recently ; Yorubas are in IT, academia, finance, research, agriculture, media etc. One more question, If the oil in the south dries up, do you think the northerners will not be the first to secede? Oil drying up in Naija may be our only hope to be free from these bloodsuckers. They are only relying on the distrust among the southern tribes to hold the power because they know that if they ever come together to secede or peacefully split into three(ie yoruba, ibo and ND) they are finished. The ibos for sure will not want to champion the secession crusade again, the Niger Deltans are afraid they cannot pull it off without help from either yoruba or ibo(ibos will be more helpful because they are close neighbours). The ibos may not want to be dragged into that because they just woke up from the past war besides, they may be afraid the ND's may back out when it's too late and if they don't get the yoruba support, there may be a problem.
you made sense,Oduduwas should stand tall and make it known to Nigeria/world that they want out from the union not talking from one side of your mouth nobody will take you serious cool cool
PoliticsThe Day Abia Came To Lagos.................... by ak47mann(op): 7:19pm On May 18, 2012
It was a cold rainy day but the hall of the Ojez Bar and Restaurant, National Stadium, Lagos was filled to capacity. To casual observers, the event at the hall could pass for another 'owambe' party like the numerous ones that litter the streets of the state every other weekend. However, it was Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State doing the seemingly impossible – bringing Abia to Lagos!

The event, a meeting of all town union executives in Lagos with representatives of the state government, was held to intimate Abia citizens of the various projects embarked on since the present administration took over.

Shedding light on the purpose of the town hall meeting, James Okpara, the Special Adviser to the Abia State Governor on Public Relations, said the event was also to refute certain falsehoods that were being spread through the media.

Okpara added that the Lagos Town Hall meeting was not the first of such events, as one had been held in Cotonou. He disclosed that more of such meetings were being planned.

"It is said that our governor does not believe in noisemaking, which is true," he said. "Maybe people now took advantage of that and are writing falsehood in the papers. Roads that were done, they said they were not done; projects that were done, they said they weren't done.

"So the decision was taken that we cannot call every Abian in Lagos at the same time, but Abians, being Ibos, they believe a lot in town union meetings so when you meet with the executives of the town union, when they go to their respective town unions they will tell theirselves: this is what we have seen. It is not a question of stories; it is what they have seen with their eyes."

And the executives were not disappointed as slide after slide showed the different projects the state government had done since it assumed office. As the slides rolled, Kingsley Megwara, Orji’s Special Adviser on Diaspora, explained each.

Megwara said the government had built 255 health centres located in the three senatorial districts of Abia State, to enable the people enjoy healthcare services.

He added that federal roads that had been abandoned by the federal government were being rehabilitated by the state government to provide succour to its citizens who make use of the roads.

The slides showed the 6,000-capacity International Conference Center, which is an ongoing project; a diagnostic centre; the reconstructed Osisioma Roundabout and Motor Park; and some electricity projects the state invested in.

“The diagnostic centre the governor has brought to our state has made it possible for our brothers and sisters who would be travelling to India, Pakistan or Saudi Arabia to seek sophisticated healthcare. We’ve just brought in the machines and brought the doctors too,” Megwara said.

Speaking further on the state of electricity in the state, the special adviser disclosed that the governor pumped N1.2 billion naira into PHCN to ensure steady supply of power in the state.

“What used to be a terrible power system in Abia State is now being corrected,” he said. “A lot of people thought it was PHCN but the Abia State Government put in N1.2 billion to assist PHCN. We’ve ensured steady power flow in Umuahia and its surrounding areas.”

At the end of the slideshow, room was given for questions, to which answers were provided by Chigozie Nwakodo, the Economic Adviser to Abia State governor. Giving further insight into the activities of the state government, Nwakodo explained that other areas where the Abia State government had invested include youth empowerment and education.

In a brief speech, the Economic Adviser said: “There are 5,000 youths from all local government areas of Abia State who are being paid a stipend of N15,000 a month to enable them learn a trade.

“Each local government has representation – the minimum is 300 in each local govt. Their basic stipend is N15,000 and then some of them are being assisted in skill acquisition centres in schools, universities, in learning a trade, agriculture, and in public works.

“Currently, there’s a N1billion loan scheme that the state government has begun to process for the youths and women in agriculture. The purpose is that those who qualify and want to invest in agriculture would get part of this fund to develop farms and all kinds of agro-processing to empower them.”

Nwakodo encouraged all Abians to come to the state and invest in building industries and private companies to employ the teeming youths.

On education, Nwakodo explained that the state has a teacher-pupil ratio of 1 to 25. He however noted that the challenge the state is facing in its drive to make education available for all was that public school teachers do not show up for work. To counter this trend, the government has taken the bold step of returning schools that were previously owned by religious associations back to them.

At the end of the event, some of the attendees praised the governor for bringing Abia to Lagos. Speaking to Daily Times, a man who identified himself as Emeka Egbuchilem said the occasion was an eye opener to the activities of the governor.

“It is you members of the press that spread lies,” he said. “The last time I went to Abia was 2008. This occasion has shown that Governor Theodore Orji is an action governor.”

FoodJonathan Now Eats Locally Produced Rice From Abakaliki – Maku by ak47mann(op): 11:10am On May 18, 2012
Abuja – President Goodluck Jonathan now eats locally produced rice and bread made from cassava as part of efforts to encourage indigenous production and stop capital flight, says Minister of Information Labaran Maku.

Maku disclosed this in Abuja on Thursday at the Ministerial Platform where the Ministries of Science and Technology, Defense, Niger Delta Affairs and the FCT presented their performance sheet in the last one year.

“The President is emphasising made in Nigeria products; if you go to the President’s house today, he eats rice produced in Ebonyi State – Abakaliki – Ofada Rice; the imported rice is not eaten in the Presidential Villa.

“Also there, he eats Cassava Bread that has just been introduced, which is saving Nigeria almost N300 billion in imports.

“From what is going on, if we emphasise and urge Nigerians to patronise the things that are researched and produced here, the country will develop.”
He said that the country would develop only when Nigerians begin to patronise goods researched and manufactured locally.

While commending the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology for its research-based development efforts, Maku said a new Science, Technology and Innovation Policy was required to promote national development.

Maku called on all stakeholders in the country to take advantage of the vast opportunities in science and technology to develop the country.

“The new Science Technology and Innovation Policy remains what is going to be the prop for the development of science and technology in our country.

“We never can develop as a nation until we pay attention to science and technology; the difference between America, Europe, Asia and us is the emphasis on science and technology and human capital development.

“I want to assure you from what you have seen that intellectual property, creativity, is what we need to advance the development of our country.”

The minister urged the science and technology ministry not to relent in promoting scientific and technological research and development, so that by 2015, a lot of the demands in Nigeria would be met.

Maku also called for collaboration between the defense and science and technology ministries for the local production of military boots.

According to him, Nigeria has a large market, which has always attracted investors. He, however, urged Nigerians to play significant roles in meeting the needs of the market. (NAN)
