RodgersAkpafu:Maybe you should reread my post to grasp the crux of my comment. Since the Op is feeling conflicted about emigrating to Germany on account of the economic status (either real or imagined) of others that are either there presently or once lived there, then maybe he needs to reevaluate his purpose for going abroad, lest he ends up disappointed. The best that any foreign country can offer an immigrant are better economic opportunities. But even with that, such countries are bound to present their own unique challenges. Therefore, intended immigrants should 'shine their eyes' and manage their expectations so that they don't end up disappointed. Comprende?? |
@OBUKOMENA: No country is a bed of roses. Every country has citizens that feel their government can do better. They have opposition politicians that feel the government in power is a disaster. Some citizens only see gloom and doom while others feel they'll rather keep pushing till things get better for them (you may not realize this until you actually travel out). Believe it or not, there are some foreigners in Nigeria who feel they're better off here than in their own country. Immigration is not a new phenomenon, it is as old as time itself. And it may not always be the solution to all the problems of the immigrants. It is what it is. |
989900:You are free to prefer anyone you so wish, nothing wrong with that. Perhaps you should have dedicated your thread to promoting Fashola or whoever else you prefer, and why you feel they'll make good presidents. This habit of devoting increasing number of threads to Tinubu's supposed ambition is making his emergence seem inevitable. |
Op, after all your anti-Tinubu rant, you still didn't tell us who you would prefer as your president. Last time I checked, Tinubu has not stopped anyone from contesting, heck he hasn't even declared his interest, yet you people are developing epilepsy on top his matter. Na wah! In a democracy anyone is free to contest. Stop this obsession with Tinubu and rather promote your own preferred candidate. |
Op, this is good. Keep it up. It's about time igbos start to push their own preferred candidates rather than always sounding bitter when they see others from other regions pushing theirs. |
Trimjos:You are right. Both Buhari and Kanu have blood on their hands. Unfortunately, one (Buhari) is a politician and Fulani so he'll probably not be made to account for the consequences of his past inciting comments that have led to many deaths and destruction. |
nku5:Not exactly. What I am saying is that Nnamdi Kanu made an inciting broadcast that some people eventually acted on. Whether those perpetrators are ipob members or Yorubas is an entirely different matter. |
Advocate500:You people like living in denial, that's why this agitation of yours has a question mark. I repeat, Nnmadi Kanu is on record for inciting his supporters to destroy Lagos infrastructures and attack yoruba politicians. So much so that Ohanaeze had to do a press release to distance themselves from his utterances. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vanguardngr.com/2020/10/endsars-ohanaeze-ndigbo-disown-nnamdi-kanu-on-destruction-of-yoruba-assets/amp/ The audio was widely available right after the EndSars wahala and was even posted here on Nairaland (it hit frontpage too). https://www.nairaland.com/6199177/audio-nnamdi-kanu-instruct-people I have the transcripts of what he said in that audio below. Even he cannot deny it in court. Transcripts: At the 50sec time stamp, he said: |
Bump |
Did Mazi Nnamdi Kanu make an inciting broadcast instructing his listeners to destroy Lagos infrastructures and target specific Yoruba personalities or not? That's the real question. He did! And it's on record. He cannot deny that. That's the real criminal charge against him in this instance, not the ethnic background of the mob that went on rampage. Ipob members definitely participated in the overall carnage that befell Lagos during endsars. |
There's absolutely no evidence to support the allegation that Ighoho is a terrorist. Absolutely none. But as for Kanu, his utterances and actions shows he is undoubtedly a terrorist. |
RZArecta:You're ranting just like your dilector. And it's that sort of behavior that got him where he is presently. Perhaps if he had learned to control his utterances he wouldn't be where he is today. Your opinion and feelings don't mean nada. Nnamdi Kanu will have his day in court and the voice recordings of his inciting instructions would be admitted as evidence, then it'll be left to the judge to decide. As for you, you're just another uncouth and emotional duped ipob ediot. |
The fact that Nnamdi Kanu incited his ipob fanatics to destroy Lagos and target certain yoruba politicians and their assets is not in question, even he can't deny that because there are clear evidences to prove that. Whether or not his supporters are amongst the mob that eventually carried out those instructions is an entirely different matter. |
It's a drastic tactic to employ to get back borrowed money, but then again many Nigerians don't intend to pay back money they borrowed. Na those loan app people fit their kind. |
Will that stop ibos from hating him? I doubt it. They are not worth the gesture. |
Why are these people wicked like this ![]() |
@heendrix: Guy, I feel your pain. But shyt happens. If you can't be with her, trust me when I say there are many fishes in the ocean. Don't sweat it bro, in case things don't work out between you and her. |
richmond500:True. E mean say somebody dey bankroll her be dat. Someone buxed up. |
Na toto power. No 'hancup' or prison cloth. E fit be say she don dey service one oga for prison. Somebody may be bankrolling her. She still dey fresh. |
Baba don buy market. I think they're just trying to set an example with him. They may end up releasing him, but not without first stressing the hell out of him. |
Brazil has a lot developed cities like this one. Maybe because they're not English speaking that's why many don't know about their cities. |
Where is the lie in what he said? Umahi the table shaker. Ipobs no go eat or sleep dis night upon hearing this news. |
treesun:Then you're either just being mischievous in your arguments, or you're just one that likes arguing blindly. In any case, good luck. |
treesun:I think you are mistaken bro. The Eko Atlantic project is an essentially private project while Lagos State government is merely a strategic partner that ensures that the private funders of the project are keeping to their mandate. It's similar to how a private investor can buy land from government, develops the land to his taste (infrastructure inclusive) and then starts selling plots of land to other interested private individuals. It won't be the first privately funded project that would be targeted at the rich. Banana Island and some other exclusive areas are already like that. But the thing is, even as we speak, people are already living in some of the apartments in the few skyscrapers that are already there. You don't even need to be rich to even enter the place sef. I consider myself average, yet I have taken my wife on a dinner date more than once at one of the restaurants located within one of the the Eko Pearl Towers. And to our surprise they don't even ask much questions before allowing guests to go into Eko Atlantic. Also, to my surprise, many people are already living on different floors of the skyscrapers, both foreigners and locals alike. The downtrodden you claim to be fighting for need to first of all rise out of poverty before thinking of living in Eko Atlantic. It's not a must that anyone lives in Eko Atlantic. Lekki dey there, Ikoyi sef dey, Magodo dey. etc. |
treesun:Change that mentality bro, for it will not take you anywhere. Like I said, often times poverty boils down to choices, ignorance, and environmental factors Wrong choices and ignorance can be cured through exposure to better education. In this Internet age, most valuable knowledge out there can be obtained for free. E.g, there are many I.T experts that taught themselves I.T skills they learned online via their phone, all it demands is the discipline and will power. Young lads are making millions legitimately from editing comedy skits that make us laugh. Etc. Through education a farmer can learn or device innovative means to improve his crop yield, because nothing you are experiencing in life is peculiar to you alone; others have also passed through and overcame. Environment can also be a factor in the sense that if you only surround yourself with poor people that prefer to wallow in self pity in their condition, you will never rise above that condition. Rather you should look to ambitious people to motivate you to do better. Nobody owes you jack sheet. But you owe it to yourself to be a better version of you. Selah. |
treesun:Nobody is stealing from any poor people because most poor people aren't even productive to start with, hence their condition. So what's there to steal from them? Infact, most poor people put themselves in that position due to their own poor life choices. Every country in the world has them in varying numbers. They also need to stop giving their small money to pastors in the form of tithes and offerings, that way they will have more to spend on themselves to beat poverty. I repeat, nobody owes a poor man anything in life. Rather, he owes it to himself to improve his own lot. Capish. |
Rexwalters1:Thanks but that advice is coming rather late. I am both a landlord and landowner with several acres of landed properties, located in Lagos and other SW states. I fit sell land for you sef if you want. See, that's the thing about us here in the SW. Land ownership is not a problem for the average yoruba man, because God has so blessed us with more than enough landmass. It's the reason why we are also very open to selling land to foreigners like yourself, because e too yakpa. Unlike una wey dey kee unasef over land matter. The small one wey una get sef erosion don render am useless. It must be really tough being ibo in this life. Problem no dey finish for una. I feel your pain bro. |
Rexwalters1:As you dey try reach you still fail abysmally to hide your tears over this news. It's ok, we understand. Don't worry, we know the present ipob-induced happenings in iboland are enough to make you ibo people jealous and envious of this yet another positive development in the SW corridor while your own ibo states struggle to surpass/outdo each other in bloodletting activities. But be rest assured that you will always be welcome to stay and seek refuge in our peace-loving region, as long as you eschew every IPOBic/terroristic tendency. I hope you can now stop crying. |
Seems India is the latest development headquarters for dem. |
treesun:Don't worry. It might just motivate some ambitious poor persons to rise above their situation and make something tangible of themselves. The world doesn't owe anybody anything. If you are poor, you have two options; either upgrade yourself to beat poverty for the sake of your future generations, or you do nothing about it and remain poor. |
nairalandankrah:I think you are better off sticking to your Biafra agitation than trying to sound smart by dabbling into subject matters that are beyond your iq capabilities. You expose your mental deficiencies and limitations with each attempt to contribute to any non-Biafra related discourse. Or perhaps it could also be that the agitation has actually made you dumber/dull as an individual. Just saying. ![]() |
