Why this fixation with Lagos branch of NURTW, when it's not as if it is the only state where they operate? |
solasoulmusic:It's fine to disagree. But history shows that African musicians (and Jamaicans as well) stand a better chance of breaking out internationally and getting noticed when they stick to local sounds. As an African artist, you can't expect to win a Grammy or attract international attention by sounding like Kanye or Jay Z. Angelique Kidjo didn't win her multiple Grammys by sounding like Madonna or Beyonce. Ditto the other Africans that have won accolades on the music scene - - Burna Boy fuses African language with a unique voice and sound that's very African to get attention, and his audience don't give a damn when he uses African language in his songs. Flavour N'Abania and the Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz are fvcking big on the international music scene (go and check out the insane amount of views their music generate on YouTube), yet they sing mostly in their native languages. |
It's actually better for his international career that his sound is recognized as unique and distinct from American pop or HipHop. That's his best route to international recognition and success. No African artist will ever compete successfully on the international scene by sounding like American artists. |
nairavsdollars:As long as that party is being elected into power by popular vote in democratic elections then it's not a problem. Changing parties just for the sake of it doesn't necessarily validate democratic tenets. Besides, technically speaking, APC as a political party hasn't always been in power in Lagos. AD and AC/ACN ruled the state before the APC ever came into being. Unlike states like Enugu and Delta that have always been under the PDP since 1999. I don't hear anyone making any fuss about those states being under one party. And these states aren't doing better than Lagos in any way. |
This is beginning to sound ridiculous. Since MNK's arrest, ipobs have turned themselves into clowns. |
Some people never finish to chop this man money. |
The best thing they can do is to release him under the pretext that he escaped, so that he can go and try his luck elsewhere, because I am sure Nigeria government would be putting heavy pressure on Benin republic government as we speak. He can try the Libya route to escape to Europe because I don't trust all these Subsaharan African countries. |
Chief Sunday Igboho should have gone farther than anywhere in East or West Africa to travel out. All West African countries (in particular) are Nigerian lapdogs when it comes to this kind of situation. Being a German residency holder could have allowed him to travel from a North African country or used the Libya route. Nigeria government was really out to get him. He should have been more cautious. |
Poor MNK. Could it be that they've beaten the Bafran out of him while in custody? |
Na her lawyer tell am say make she change tune. But it's too late for this charade. |
Omo, the effrontery of these Miyetti-Allah folks no be here. All because one of their kinsmen is currently in office. Another Fulani must not rule this country after Buhari's tenure, else their excesses would only get worse. |

@TMKsouth: What's your opinion on the present situation, being a South African yourself. I would like to hear your informed insights. Is Zuma that popular amongst the masses, for his incarceration to be generating this much upheaval? What exactly is going on? My initial impression was that he's a very unpopular figure, but this recent riots are making me have a rethink. |
This so-called primate guy likes feeling important. Just talking anyhow. As if anyone asked his opinion. He's becoming very annoying these days with his unsolicited trash. |
And so? What's the point? It is only when they win that we see this sort of list cone up. Whenever they fail to win, nobody cares about list. Una no well. |
E don chop wetin go kill am. |
FFK is just too unstable. On the one hand he is carrying Yahaya Bello's handbag and supporting his presidential aspirations, while on another hand he is forming Yoruba separatist and attacking a Tinubu presidential ambition. If Yorubas won't support a Tinubu presidency, is it a Yahaya Bello one they would support? He needs to drop the crack he's smoking and check himself into rehab. |
What now happens to Atiku's ambition? Not to mention Yahaya Bello? |
It's going to be a cracker! |
Igboho should speak less, and also watch those that surround him. I suspect he has moles in his entourage. |
PrinceOfLagos:Wetin Tinubu do you and your fellow ibos, wey be say una must call hin name to tarnish am? You need to give your life to Christ, quit your deceit, and stop constituting a nuisance online. |
Smh. These are the kind of suspicious confessions from Kanu's boys that would be used to nail his coffin in court. I don't know how true it is, but it sounds embellished. |

Op, you need to grow up and go and get busy with your life instead of always constituting a nuisance here. |
Nigeria cannot afford another 8yrs of a Fulani presidency. Those herdsmen would get even more dangerous. Na their kinsman wey dey occupy Aso Rock dey embolden their murderous activities. Those wishing for Nigeria's breakup should be the ones praying for another Fulani presidency after Buhari because that would be the surest way to get it. |
Another 'Change'? |

I have heard your point and also made mine. Nothing more for me to say. And at this stage, I can't shout. Mo toro gafara. |
StaffofOrayan:Ok. |
StaffofOrayan:Whether you consider my viewpoint and contribution to the discourse as 'an excuse for lawless black leaders' is irrelevant. I just gave a perspective of the current situation as it stands. All I'm saying is that Igboho’s security is vulnerable at the moment, vis-a-vis the current Kanu situation, as well as the lack of support from the Yoruba elite. You obviously don't like hearing that sort of different viewpoint. But it is what it is. Your anger won't change that fact. Until more of the Yoruba elite class (at least 50% of them) show the same level of fervour that Igboho and his supporters show for the agitation, it will amount to nothing. Selah. |
StaffofOrayan:Well, even abroad, not all governments in 'white' countries treat secessionist agitations the same way. The way Spain handles it is different from UK's, for example. The problem with the Yoruba secessionist agitation is that, about 90% of the elite (cutting across different party lines, in both APC and PDP, even Afenifere, YCE and other socio-cultural groups, as well as traditional rulers) have publicly expressed disapproval of it. No secession can succeed without the support of the elite of the group agitating for it. In Spain and UK, they have political parties in their national assemblies that are pro-secession. In Spain, Catalonia's sitting administrative government is pro-secession. The politicians are a very critical group amongst the elite of any society (recall that they made Nigeria's independence from Britain possible by being the faces of it). They provide legitimacy, diplomatic and financial support to the struggle. Another thing is that I think at this point, FG is careful not to allow Igboho turn into another Nnamdi Kanu under their nose, that's why they may start seeing and approaching him differently from now on. |
Secession agitation is very dangerous business. At some point the arrowheads of such movement will be forced to go on exile by the government. No be child's play. |
