Yes, but it also depends on the family size and the balance cost of education - tuition remaining unpaid, level of education (PhD vs. Masters), and whether or not the student has school funding to guarantee their cost of education to completion. ditha: |

It sounds like an oversight from the officer handling the case. Did you get a BIL (request for your wife to give biometric) already? Perhaps, you have already gone past this stage. Whichever it is, l suggest your wife (or you acting as her) send a web form to Nairobi and inform them about it. But if the UCI is one of the things you require to send a web form, then use the application number, her full name, and passport number to send an email raising your observation. ikemummy: |

Hi, Let your friend buy ticket for December now and travel within a month to Winter start date. My thoughts: If he leaves now, there is a high chance he can beat the immigration at both ends but there is also a small chance they can check status of his registration with the school. He need enrollment verification letter that is recent - a good chance he has that too already but the small risk of verification can still come up. Finally, if he beats all these and he needs to renew visa/study permit to complete program (to cover for the missed semester), the story won't add up because transcript will show he/she wasn't enrolled in Fall 2021 while they were in Canada. It could also be something that can come up during PGWP or PR application in a few years. So, I would play it safe if I were your friend - buy ticket now to safe cost, and wait until December to travel. NB: Some who just arrived was asked to show their online learning courses to see what courses they are enrolled in. I suspect your friend won't be able to do that since they are no longer enrolled in the Fall term. bigsolo: 1 Like 1 Share |

Hello, Please does anyone have an idea what happens if someone deferred admission (due to visa delay) just before they now got visa approval and didn't inform IRCC whether they will have issues upon landing or not? To clarify, this person got admission for Fall 2021 but deffer to Winter 2022 because of delay in the visa processing. But a few weeks/months later, they got the approval and issued visa. If they try to fly/land in Canada in December/January, are there any risks to this? I have my own theory and have explained but just wanted to hear other views so we can be sure what their options are. Thanks. |

Hi, Sorry to hear about this. If your spouse really prefers Canada then I would also support the advice not to give up. I don't know your complete POF profile but if what you stated was the full picture, I can punch a few holes that you may want to block when your spouse reapply. In Canadian immigration context, I don't think the property valuation report ($80,000) would serve as POF rather as an home tie. Also, N4m would be adequate for living costs in a year but you didn't mention if your spouse paid tuition already or how she plans to do so; maybe she had a GIC, or received funding from her school? Finally, because you are a family and probably also serving as home tie (assuming you didn't apply together), then there is also the need to show how those left behind will "survive" financially while your spouse is in Canada. Usually, the logical question is that if the student takes all the family resources abroad to study, what of those left behind since you are a family? This is most critical to prove if the main sponsor is not the primary applicant - say you as the husband for instance showing all the funding required. All things equal, I suspect that if the $80,000 (or equivalence) had been in liquid cash balance it would have been a different outcome. These are important and I am almost sure if the only reason for refusal is POF then you can easily address this strategically than say purpose of visit for instance. Best of luck. bdon123: 2 Likes |

I don't know about this but also cannot say for sure until we get approved/PPR. But in our own case, we submitted the only marriage certificate we have which was issued by the officiating minister (Imam) at our wedding then witnessed by all parents and/or their proxies. It also has 50% of content in Arabic - which we didn't translate. So I am not able to comment on its acceptability until after a decision is received. However, I had used the same document as proof of marriage for 13-years (at some point in the US as international student and got my family dependent visas. I also included it in my successful visitor visa application to Canada a decade ago - just me - and it was part of my positive study permit application earlier in 2020. But if you can do anything to submit a tighter application document please always do! mymzo48: |

Hi, NB: Read through earlier posts from page one of this thread and you will be able to piece together all answers to your questions. I will respond to those questions I have ideas about and maybe provide caveats where necessary as follows; Yes, your husband can apply for SOWP for you and visitor visa for your two year old baby while still in Nigeria. However, the rule of thumb is to let the student land in Canada, receive their study permit (which is different from Student Visa) as well as their (Social Insurance Number) SIN before applying. But if there is a reason you cannot wait then go ahead and apply then submit other documents when he lands. The risk here is that IRCC may review the application earlier than you expect (I have seen folks get decision in 2 months, in fact someone got decision in 6 weeks lately) so if they review and the application lacks essential document like study permit I cannot comment on the implication. I think you have a better chance of getting approved if you had applied with hubby then now BUT I have also heard of people who got approved even under this circumstance, so there you have it! I opened a separate GCKEY account for mu spouse then added the kids on that for their application. However I have heard some people say they did using their own GCKEY account. Technically, (assuming the information I had was accurate), either is possible. But personally I used a separate account (just one with Spouse as principal applicant) for the family. Your two year old (an any applicant below age of majority - 18 years or so - doesn't need to give biometric data. However, your baby needs to give medical - my son of same age got medical request. I think this must be because this is a potentially family reunification route as they can stay for as long as the student is in status. Ordinarily visitors (old or young) don't require medical pre-COVID but maybe things are changing now. No, you do not need IELTS for SOWP application but if you have it submit - we submitted WES report for my spouse because we had it prior to submitting application. It doesn't matter whether you have a lot of your own money or not. It is just a smart move to submit your own account statement in addition to the principal applicant. What is important is to show satisfactory POF --- you should research what qualifies as "satisfactory". Your extend family members - parents and siblings - for you and hubby, investments & stocks, properties, business registrations, proof of current job/employment or own business etc should work as home ties. However, you must be very deliberate in articulating these in your letters. Do not assume just submitting documents will serve as proof --- explain it well. Best of luck in taking the next steps. It shall end in praises. Chisolove3: 3 Likes |

BTW, what is earliest Qlife has sent medical exam result to IRCC that anyone knows of? My son completed medical (just basic test for a 2 year old) since September 17th. It is a week already now. When I emailed them 2 days ago, and they replied yesterday, it shows they haven't sent yet. They say it takes between 3 - 10 business days. |

If all other documents are ready AND you feel good about it, please go ahead and submit applications. But also make sure to secure medical appoint dates right away for them. If you receive request for medical exam before that date, then you can always attach it with the proof of appointment to get an emergency appointment within a week I think. If cost is a problem book with IOM so you can at your own convenience ahead of the medical date although I don't know if they have a rule requiring immediate payment nowadays. Best of luck! amr12: |

Finally, I am able to post!. Lianna's posts was taken down and her account(s) banned. I think these have to do with some breach of protocols or something. I received her timeline yesterday to help post on her behalf. I did but my own account too was flagged by the thread BOT - am not sure how this works or what triggered the 24-hours ban for me either. Anyways, what is important to clarified is that Lianna didn't abscond after getting her PPR. She made efforts to share her story but unfortunately that hasn't been possible. I won't try to resend either because I don't want to be "banned" again. Thanks. registration: 2 Likes |

Hi, On request, see timeline below (written with/in faith of getting PPR soonest): 15th May - Application submission with upfront medicals for 3 out of 4 (All 3 had April 2021 passport expiry dates) 19th May - Medicals for Spouse and two kids (student permits) updated to passed 25th May - Wife completed bio-metric while kids didn't due to minor ages 3 months - Nothing; not even ghost update. Focused on passport renewal process and NIN reconciliation wahala. 18th August - Sent Nairobi inquiry email and got normal auto-response immediately 19th August - Nairobi replied my inquiry saying the usual stuff - under active review & unable to say when to finalize 19th August - Applied for GCMS notes for all 26th August - Applied for written travel authorization exemption (WTRE) for all 4th September - Emailed MP office covering my residential area 5th September - Emailed MP office covering my school area 8th September - Senior Advisor (staff) to MP covering my house replied - " I should reach out in 2 weeks if I haven’t received anything......." 9th September - eligibility review commenced -- no ghost update - just random login and saw it 10th September - Received medical request for 2 year old son (who didn't do upfront medical since it was visitor visa for him). 10th September - 3 emails responses per travel authorization application - one shows son's WTRE is authorized & others tagged "courtesy" Appointment for son's medical secured and will be done later this week. Am hoping once son's medical is completed and renewed passports for spouse + 2 older kids are uploaded via web form later this week. Will do some email follow up attaching the documents. We should get a decision pretty afterwards. I am optimistic and praying for a successful and positive completion of the divine work God has started, Amen!!! Thanks. - babybless44: 6 Likes |

This is similar to my own experience. Two days after an MP staff replied my email and said I should contact them in two weeks if there is no progress, my family applications were updated to eligibility review. A day after, medical request for the only person without upfront medical in the group dropped. blcoolfemol: |

I and most people I know created a totally new GCKEY for spouse then add the kids on to that account. I have also heard but not seen a few people said it is possible to use your own as well. What I have done is what I can comment on so I would say just create another for your spouse and do this as if it was them doing it from Nigeria. Best of luck ikemummy: 1 Like |

I will also support that you go ahead and apply since you mentioned your husband and not children - so am assuming there are no kids yet, right? If there are kids and you are starting in the Fall 2021 then I would say wait until you arrive in Canada before you apply for them all. But also depending on several things like age of kid(s), term of first enrollment (whether Fall 2021 or Winter 2022), commencement in-person or online before arrival etc, you may need to apply now and then send additional documents upon landing. The earlier you apply or travel the better for the application processing. Give yourself between 3 to 4 months for the application processing considering the current timelines. It shall end in praises. Erudensi: |
