Hi all, I finally got my enrollment verification/attestation letter from Concordia University student portal last night with the good help of a dear member of this group @Siobhanle. Thanks once again for the help. @Blavkmaann and other prospective Concordians, the hack for self-generating the letter is actually simple. I didn't find the feature on my student portal when accessed the website on my computer. Using the mobile App didn't help either. I was on this for several days thinking something was wrong with my profile setting. It was during a chat with @Siobhanle last night that she figured what I was doing wrong all these while. Apparently, the only way to get the letter yourself was if you accessed the website via mobile web (on the phone) not the mobile app. That solved the problem. In case you ever find yourself in my situation in future after enrollment, then that is your hack. BTW, safe trips to all members who traveling today and over the weekend. See you when we get there soon. It will continue to end in endless praises! 6 Likes |

Yes, very likely. I got my passport 24-hours after that message and my VFS status changed to same thing. adeenzo: 2 Likes |

Please be very careful and not be a victim. The issue of enrollment verification as a required document at the POE or point of departure (POD) is very recent - just in the last week or two. The question I will ask is have you registered for courses? Have you paid the required fees (or applied your tuition deposit) to clear this balance? If you answer YES to both questions, then even if the school won't issue one (I think some schools call it "Attestation Letter", you can be creative about it. Print out your course registration details, unofficial transcript from student portal, and proof of fees payment in addition to the email mentioned by my other Honorable. I do not think the email is enough on its own and also do not think after registration/enrollment and payment of fees, any school would deny you a letter to confirm this even at the risk of denial of entry. The problem as I suspect may be that the school official who attended to your email/request was reviewing your current status and gave the verdict based on fact that you may not have enrolled yet and paid for fees owed for the semester (that is my overarching assumption and I could be stupidly wrong) and not a general school policy even for those who are eligible for verification. "Hi guys. If you know anyone traveling to from Nigeria as a student, please inform them to contact their school and obtain a recent enrollment letter within a month's time from departure time. If not, they will be prevented from Flying even with a valid study permit.... Cases seen from Ethiopian airline... Please share with your contacts and save inconvenience and cost of rescheduling flights ✈️" Above is a chat my brother based in Halifax shared from a whatsapp group of Nigerians he is a part of. See my other response on this subject for what the document is. It is essentially a proof that you have registered for courses, made payments for fees due and you are a genuine student. Not sure you can get it without fulfilling one of these conditions. My thought though because it was the same in the US but they don't ask for it at the airport or for boarding. So imagine you needed to apply for renewal of student status or something from the IRCC/DHS (could be SOWP after you land) as a current student, they would need a proof that you are truly "enrolled" as a student. Your DLI will never issue it if you are owing, or have unmet obligations at the time of your request. MOKENN: |

It is not the airline per se however, the Nigerian Immigration can stop you without it and they may already have informed the airlines to implement same before travelers scale check-in. I have also heard that even the POE guys need it to let you in. Am still working on getting mine too and hopefully that should be sorted later today when I can get back to talk with my school people in Montreal. Someone on here who is also going to Concordia already got it. I think it will have to do with you registering, paying your fees - no outstanding for the semester - and then you will be able to apply for/get one. MOKENN: |

Hello, The eagle finally landed a few minutes ago. I didn't get UPS tracking but I knew it was in transit after the full day phone wahala with VFS on Monday. I got 5 emails from them in the last 48 hours and my application status changed twice on the VFS platform during the same period. I got a call just before 9am and I knew it was the UPS delivery man. I cut off an international call (with a friend in New Zealand) to pick up. Lo and behold, I was right. I rushed to the street junction to meet him. I only showed my ATM cards and old national ID and he was satisfied. After I signed for it, I went to the ATM and dashed him "5 Pieces of Cowries". The guy wanted to disappear into thin air. To God be the Glory. Montreal here we come! To those expectant, your joys shall be fuller very soon. #It Has Finally Ended in Praise - @Frank and Frat...@Kim, I sight you all! 23 Likes 1 Share |

Yes you are correct and on the right path. I hope you are generating it from your own account so you can also select whether you are the sponsor or applicant. At least for GTB, they specify. Best of luck. Yteem: |

@Justwise, we have also called for a thread that is specifically meant for "new students arriving Canada". The "living in Canada" thread is not directly relevant to our situation post-approval. Most of the time, discussions on that page are for PR folks. Please help look into it. Gracias, Chiefo! justwise: 7 Likes 1 Share |

To add to Hon Justmellow submission, below are some unconventional tips I added to my SOP regardless that I had a $125k worth of funding; I set up a Uber hire purchase contract with a driver delivering a fixed amount (about $100) weekly into a dedicated bank account. I didn't show the account but I showed the ownership, insurance and front page of the contract. I bought a used van for family business while am away, from an auction in the US but it was still at the port in Baltimore when I applied so I added the dock receipt and bill of lading. I explained the purpose in my SOP I indicated how long my family has been in Lagos Island and that am from an indigenous family of which I am the assistant secretary holding all heritage documents and inheritance rights. I ensured my Linkedln account showed this. I indicated I am the treasurer of the local CDA in my area and that I am in charge of community funds that I have managed for over 2 years. I also ensured my Linkedln account showed this. I have a wife and 3 kids, I included all their passports and previous visas. Letter of indigeneship from the Oba, LGA and traditional chief from my family branch. I didn't include documents for my siblings - 2 are abroad and 1 is here - and neither for my parents because I had too much attachments so I had to cut out a lot. 3 CAC registration. One of the companies was set up with my wife and has not started business. However, that company has the object clauses that are related to my course of study. The SOP showed we are going to be running the company together upon my return and we already have a network of contacts and clients to transit into the corporate set-up. The idea is to think about all your strong points and emphasize them. Don't assume something is not important; if you can articulate it, present it. It shall end in praises. JustMellow: 8 Likes |

Hi, It seems it is only "werey" that can work for this VFS Lagos people. But it is so unfortunate that we have to call before they will do their job. As planned, I called on 08150199900 and got through once then spoke with a guy around 10:00am. He said he would check physically if it is in their office and also ask the account unit to verify my payment. I told him my passport is already in their office as several people in my batch are already in Canada. I promised him I will call back by 12noon and all day including all week if possible. I have lost money from changing ticket twice which is true. He said if every thing checks out, they will hand to UPS on Wednesday and it will take 3 days to reach me. Then I got three emails an hour later within 2 minutes. The decision envelope for your application, tracking ID No************ blah blah blah "(1) ...............has been received from the IRCC Office on 12/14/2020 11:00:41 AM and will be dispatched to... (2) ..............has been received from the IRCC Office on 12/14/2020 11:01:01 AM and has been dispatched to.. (3) .............has been received from the IRCC Office on 12/14/2020 11:02:09 AM at the VAC, Lagos and is ready for collection. I plan to call back again so they can confirm my payment and give me aws# We die there today 5 Likes |

I suggest you change your ticket. I sent my own passport since November 3rd to Lagos VFS. I have had to change my planned travel from 17th to 26th already. It is too tight between now and 18th - that's just 4-days. adeenzo: 1 Like |

Ensure you add the CAQ if you are going to Quebec Province. @Justmellow sir, is the Covid-19 test result compulsory for everyone or those going on specific airline or heading to certain province? JustMellow: |

Sorry to hear about that. I don't think you should give up that quickly. I suggest you take some time off to de-stress and then relaunch your quest. As a fully funded student applicant, home ties may be more critical in your case than the finance aspect. In fact, both can be covered with the same additional inclusions in your application. Being fully funded does not mean you won't show some evidence of funding or local investments plus provisions for family (if you have one). I suggest you come back to explain your timelines and all the documents submitted. You will get needed help here and able to reapply. kelvine95: 2 Likes |
