3KINGZ18:Where do you get your thermal paste from? What the name of the paste? |
Are you employed by Jumia/Konga or you just trade on their website? |
bertoseve:What are you willing to pay for say 1 Nvidia GTX 760,770,780 2 Nvidia GTX 960,970,980 3 AMD R9 270,280,380,290,390 |
Proper PC gaming is an expensive hobby. If you've got the means to get one you'll never go back to console gaming. PC Pros 1. Better graphics 2. Uncapped framerates 3. A gaming PC does more than games including video, music, photo editing, word,excel...to sum it up productivity. 4. Customizations. Sell old component to buy new; reasonable savings.... Have to stop here but will continue tomorrow sleep dey catch me. |
I've had to take out my AMD R9 290X while testing games on the R9 380 so I decided to give the waterblocks a clean. Over time, particles from the coolant/radiator/tubing used can get trapped in the microfins of the block and stick to the walls of the water channel. Maintenance is always a good thing to carry out periodically. I won't bore you with all the details so I'll just bullet point the steps I took. 1. Remove the screws with a hex key (2 sizes of screws with this block) 2. Keep the rubber seals in a safe place. 3. Wash the block under a running tape and dry with a cloth. 4. Use 100% alcohol(isopropyl) to clean the internals and wipe with lint-free material 5. Put back together. Next post will be on renewing the thermal paste.

Nosainwe:It will be worth trying to increase your VRAM in the BIOS to 512MB if your system allows it. Other than that I suspect the issue is caused be a limitation of your iGPU. |
In order of preference Battlefield 1 Mafia III Gears of War Horizon Zero Dawn Deux Ex - Mankind Divided God of War |
KazukiIto:I've seen this run on an i5-3317U with intel HD 4000, 8GB RAM and get no more than 23FPS which imo isnt a great gaming experience. Your i3 won't be as good. So it will run but the experience won't be worth it. |
KazukiIto:I didn't latch onto Far Cry 4 tbh. I played it for about a week and got rid of it. That's not to say it's not good, it's got great reviews. |
Nosainwe:did the compatibility stuff work or not? |
Nosainwe:What OS version are you using? Try running 'settings.exe' in compatibility mode. Right click on 'settings.exe'>Properties>Compatibility>tick the box and select your OS version. If that doesn't work, send a screenshot of the Specifications Tab when you launch 'settings.exe'. |
Having tested over 20 games using the Intel HD graphics, I conclude that if you already own one, one is limited to games that can be played at typically low settings/resolutions. If you are looking to purchase a gaming laptop, AMD historically have better integrated GPU's at a lower price. If funds isn't an issue then invest in an Intel CPU with a dedicated Nvidia/AMD graphic card but this can set you back around £700/$1000 (new). The ultimate setup is a gaming desktop for around a £500/$700 you can build a 1080p/60Hz system that will satisfy most gaming needs with high-ultra setting's enabled. Wil be posting soon a guide to making a gaming desktop. I know, parts are not available in Nigeria but knowing is good. |
captainking:AMD also do laptops with APU's ( accelerated processing unit) with the integrated R7/R9 mobile series. Avoid HP as they limit the processing power with these APU's. |
MrEverything:150k will get you a laptop. As that's your budget, an Intel laptop with an i5 CPU, 4GB RAM will handle light gaming. On Jumia I've seen an i3 CPU with an Nvidia dGPU for around that price. It will be decent enough for light gaming too. |
MrEverything:Where will you be purchasing one from? |
dacovajnr:Find one with a dedicated graphic cards like an Nvidia 940M and above or an AMD R7/R9 mobile series( to handle recent titles with playable framerates). If not, get a console. |

francisbiz:A gaming laptop can cost 4 to 5 times the cost of a PS4. So it's up to how much you wish to spend. I personally will go for a proper gaming laptop, why? Game fun- free cracked games are available Long-run economy - you may not have to pay for games and if you do, you can get them about 50% less than PS4 games Durability- will depend on your budget, reputable brands will last long if well taken care of. Mobility - game any where and can be connected to a monitor too. Some reputable brands - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/laptops-and-tablets/gaming-laptops |

charix:What KazukiIto said is very right, these laptops aren't meant for prolonged heavy tasks like gaming so they aren't equipped with very good cooling as you'll find in a laptop purposely built for gaming. I'll add that you should know how to change your thermal paste as you can imagine a low-end laptop will use cheaper materials/components. Thermal paste degrades over time and quicker when used in high temperatures which results in inefficient heat dissipation causing the CPU/GPU to run hotter. |
