The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has now released a new NIMC mobile app to make it easy for people to get their National Identification card.



According to NIMC, the app has a good interface and any Nigerian who want to use it must have gotten his or her National Identification Number (NIN) ready or else access may be denied.

NIMC also said that you are allowed by the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) to link up to 7 devices with Nigerian – registered mobile numbers to your NIN.

How To Get and Use the NIMC mobile app

Launch the Google Play store on your android phone and search for “MWS: NIMC MobileID” for the iPhone users, you can use Apple App store to download the app too.

After downloading the mobile app, install and launch it.

input your 11-digit NIN number and enter Next then later click I agree.

Crossover Service In South West States

Some State Governments in South West region have already put a ban on any religious centre from doing crossover service.

The Lagos State Government was the first state to suspend all-night crossover service due to the Federal Government’s directive on curfew between 12am – 4am.

With this Federal Government’s directive, many churches in Lagos are still trying to gather not less than 50 per cent capacity to do the crossover service that is expected to end before the curfew start by 12am.

Ogun State Government also banned all form of crossover night services and any form of social gathering in a bid to curb the rise in COVID-19.

However, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for Ogun State chapter still want the Government to lift the ban.

In Ondo State, Government is seriously on the red-eye with his people as he insisted that once bitten twice shy.

According to what we gathered from the Ondo State Chairman of the COVID-19 ministerial committee, Nobody including a leader or religious group must disobey the government’s COVID-19 guideline protocol issued to them.

While in Osun State, the government had initially banned the crossover service in religious centres but later took the U-turn by allowing them to observe crossover night service but each person must use a face mask before entering any religious centre in the state.

The state commissioner for information, Funke Egbomode said the government is very careful during this festive season, this made them review their position on the matter.

She further said that it is possible that the Osun State Government may allow cross over service to happen but anybody that is ready to do that must ensure to keep to time by staying off once it is 1am.


Internet Crossover Service

The Redeemed Christian Church of God has informed their worshippers that this year’s crossover service will be done via the internet service, this is to follow the COVID-19 new guideline protocol issued by the Health bodies responsible for the treatment of the pandemic virus.



On the other hand, the General Overseer of the Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo has been lamenting against the restrictions put on any public gathering in the country.

The founder of the church changed his mind to cancel the crossover service that is usually done between 10pm and 4am every December 31.

So Instead of doing the crossover night programme, they will just do evening service today that will just last for two to three hours then on the day of the new year, they will also do another live broadcast service from Faith Tabernacle in Otta, Ogun State.

Millions of phone users in Nigeria who are yet to get their national identity number do not need to worry or go to any NIMC centres to queue again.



The fresh update issued by National Identity Management Commission has revealed that network providers like MTN, Glo, Airtel and 9Mobile can now enrol people, capture their data and give them NIN number.

According to what Abdulhamid Umar, the operation manager revealed to BBC News, the commission has given license to 170 other private nd public organisation including Network providers to register people for the National Identity card.

This latest update comes some weeks after Federal Government issued directives to all phone users to link their mobile number with their NIN.

At first, Federal Government gave December 30th as the deadline before extending the date to 19th January for those people that already have NIN and 9th of February for those people who do not have the NIN at all.



As a result of this, Millions of Nigerians are already panicking as many of them have invaded various NIMC registration centres across the country despite the looming secomd wave of COVID-19.

Can NIMC meet the Government Deadline ?

Well since about 9 years that NIMC have been registering people for the natiinal identity card, statistics gathered from National Communication Commission (NCC) has shown that 42 million people have been registered so far.

The figure is even less than 203 million mobile subscribers in Nigeria and the report also revealed that subscribers have increased from 198.9 million in July to 203.16 million in August 2020.

If you do normal basic mathematics, you will observe that there are still many subscribers who have not even enrolled for the NIN and rumours gathered from different reporters who witnessed the NIMC centre in Abuja disclosed that they are not sure if the commission can capture every mobile user in the country.

However, Mr Umar said the commission will do everything possibile to see how many people they can register and blamed some Nigerians for their delay in registering for the NIN.

ASUU – Academic Staff Union of Universities has suspended the 10-month-old strike conditionally with effect from 12am Thursday 24 December 2020.



The ASUU leader, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi announced the conditional suspension of the strike about 9AM this morning in Abuja.

According to him, ASUU Union has accepted the offer of Federal Government and they are expected to monitor the implementation as part of their agreement to end their 10-month-old strike action.



The ASUU President said the Union and National Executive Council NEC have agreed to end the strike conditionally by saying that if the Federal Government refuse to fulfil their own part of the agreement, ASUU may resume strike action without any prior notice.

ASUU, FG finally agree on Major Issues after ten months strike

ASUU and the Federal Government finally reached a good agreement on major issues that led to the end of the ten-month strike by lecturers.

This agreement was reached on Wednesday morning when they came back from the over 8-hour close door meeting after several months of negotiations between both parties.

The meeting in Abuja was led by The Federal Government delation team, Chris Ngige who is the Minister of Labour and Employment.

According to what ASUU posted on their social handles, they said they are very happy about how the Federal Government handled the matter because they have been given a new offer which gave them relief about the issue.

Although ASUU President said the Union will get back to the government on their own stand within 24 hours.

On 16 December, 2020, The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) ordered all telecommunications operators in the country to block all SIM cards that are not linked with the National Identity number (NIN).

Linking your Airtel phone number to your NIN is possible by following the below steps:

1. Dial *121# on the Airtel line you wish to link.


2. Type 1 for “NIN Capture” and send.

3. Enter your 11-digit NIN as it is written on the slip or card and send.

After that, confirmation message will be sent to you. If there is an error, give it some time and try again.

Other Networks (Glo and 9mobile)

It is advisable you visit the nearest office of your network provider (Glo or 9mobile) to link your NIN.

Don’t forget to carry along your NIN and your sim pack.

A beautiful lady has expressed interest in Big brother Naija winner, Laycon by confessing how much she loves him.

The lady made reference to Laycon's body language after Erica came to Dorathy's birthday.

The Lady who spoke in Yoruba dialet said she used her life savings to buy votes for Laycon to win.


She also offered advice to Laycon that maybe he should consider Barbing his dreadlock hair so that enough breeze can blow the hair.

The Lady further confessed her love for Laycon and demanded him to get over Erica since she is here to show him love.

However as many users were expecting Laycon to respond to the lady's confession via the video, the big brother Naija winner finally responded by saying "Ah" which many believed was the best response for that.

A Nigerian Man recounted how he was arrested and put in cell wrongly by EFCC Officials in Ibadan.





He shared his story below:


Here is the beginning of my nightmares.

EFCC Officials broke into my apartment around 4am on this day and arrested me at gunpoint at first I thought they were armed robber because of their mode of operations but after seeing their jacket I was calm since I don’t have anything incriminating on me, but little did I know that I am automatically a suspect for owning laptop and smart phones.

Mojisola Alli-Macaulay said this on Tuesday 26 October 2020 during the Lagos State House of Assembly plenary session on the aftermath of #endsars protests in Lagos.

Madam Mojisola Alli Macaulay said this statement during one special sitting in Lagos State Assembly where she also broke silence on the end sars protests which were later hijacked by the Hoodlums to destroy public and private properties and also kill lives.

The female Lawmaker says “Most of the Nigerian youths are always high on drugs. They will go to social media to do all sorts of things. The National Orientation Agency needs to get to work. We need to begin to orientate our young people. They need people that will talk to them from time to time.”

Angry Nigerians are currently reacting after news that was shared by popular news media captured the moment Fashola discovered a hidden camera at the Lekki Tollgate.



It can be recalled that On October 20, Military men came to Lekki Tollgate to open fire on #Endsars Peaceful protesters.

Before the ugly moment, some government officials came around 5:30 pm to remove the CCTV camera positioned to capture every moment of the event.

This sounded an emergency warning to the protesters that there is a possibility that Miscreants may want to attack them when the day becomes dark knowing fully well that Lagos State has imposed curfew which is to start around 9 PM or thereabout.

At 6:45 PM, The light at the Lekki Tollgate automatically went off. Despite that, Peaceful Protesters were still spotted raising up their National flag and singing the National Anthem.

Unknown to them that armed men who paraded themselves as Nigerian Army will come to attack. All Thanks to DJ switch who captured the shocking event during a live Instagram video.

In the live video, The unknown Nigerian army could be seen shooting sporadically to disperse the large and peaceful environment created by the #Endsars Protesters.

According to Dj switch, At least 12 dead bodies were counted that night.

The following day, Sanwo Olu who is the Lagos State Governor said that no death or casualty was recorded.

After a few hours, He addressed the press that 2 dead bodies have been recorded.

When asked who gave the military men the instruction to fire shot at peaceful protesters, He said These Forces were beyond his control and that he didn't order the Nigerian Army to shoot at Peaceful Protesters.

Sanwo Olu also said that the CCTV camera is still intact and the footage will be released soon.

Some days after, Southwest governors and other leaders team up to pay a visit to Sanwo Olu based on the incessant menace happening in Lagos.

A few hours later, Babatunde Fashola who is the former Governor of the state discovered the hidden camera.

This looks suspicious to people because some days after the Lekki shooting, Lawma and other good citizens have cleaned up the place without finding anything of such.

As at the time of reporting this, Fashola is currently being slammed on social media.

The questions that need serious answers are:

Who ordered the shooting?

Who switched off the Light at the Lekki Tollgate?

Who deployed the Military men?
