PoliticsI’ll Rather Suffer Defeat Than Lose My Name—gov Ayade by akinbode1(op): 7:01am On Nov 29, 2018
Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has allayed fears over his re-election prospects, saying he would rather suffer defeat than lose his name, noting that his performance would earn him a second term.

Governor Ayade, who made the assertion while speaking with newsmen in Calabar, said: “I am not worried about my re-election because my work will speak volumes. We have been able to create thousands of jobs within the last three years in various sectors. “Appointees and employees, who are now in the employment of the government, also know that my re-election is not just about me, but about them. If I don’t come back they will be out of jobs. “Imagine people who earned little or nothing, but now earn above N200,000. Thousands of families are benefiting from our policies and programmes. “I also expanded the size of government with over 6,000 appointees and more people will be appointed. I don’t think I have an issue with my re-election because it is no longer about me, but the people. Ex-militants dismiss threats against Buhari’s re-election “We know that we have had two wonderful governors before I came in. We needed a different move to drive the state forward, which we are doing through industrialisation. Tourism alone is not enough for us to succeed. “I will rather lose an election than lose my name, which is a legacy. I know that the society does not reward efforts, but result.”

RomanceMeghan Markle Tears Royal Family Apart by akinbode1(op): 3:28pm On Nov 27, 2018
They’ve grown up extremely close and played the role of best man at each other’s weddings, but it seems things may not be going so smoothly between the royal princes right now.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently decided to move away from their Kensington Palace neighbors, Prince William and Kate Middleton — and according to a friend of the royals, it may be because of trouble between the two couples.

According to a palace source, Meghan and Kate aren’t as close as we thought, and it’s starting to cause tension between the brothers.

“Kate and Meghan are very different people,” the source told the Daily Mail. “They don’t really get on.”

The palace confirmed that Harry and Meghan are moving to Frogmore Cottage (where they held their wedding reception) on the Windsor Estate early next year as they prepare for the arrival of their first child. The new home is said to need major work to be fit for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, with plans reportedly to include 10 bedrooms, a new nursery, a gym and a yoga studio.

Harry and Meghan, who currently live in a small cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace, always planned to upsize, but it was thought they would occupy another palace unit the size of the one Kate and William live in.

“The initial plan was for Harry and Meghan to move out of their cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace and into one of the main apartments,” a royal source told The Sun. “But there has been a bit of tension between the brothers.”

PoliticsAtiku Politicising National Tragedy — Buhari by akinbode1(op): 12:05pm On Nov 27, 2018
ABUJA—The nationwide solemnity arising from the killing of more than 100 Nigerian soldiers by Boko Haram in Melete, Borno State, was yesterday breached by the exchange of salvos by the two leading presidential candidates, Muhammadu Buhari and Atiku Abubakar.

Both presidential candidates exchanged blames, even as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, also, yesterday, charged the National Assembly to launch an inquiry into the issue.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, had on Sunday through its Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena accused Atiku of leading a gang of selfish and mercantile politicians desperate to take power from the ruling APC.

Atiku in response to the claim, which he said cast aspersions on his person on his birthday and his turbaning as Waziri Adamawa, observed that the Melete incident happened on the same day Buhari launched his presidential campaign, an occasion he claimed the nation’s service chiefs withdrew from at the last moment.

Meanwhile, the Presidency has described the Metele killing as an isolated case, insisting that Boko Haram has been technically defeated.

While noting that the APC has yet to make a statement on the issue, Atiku challenged Buhari and the APC to donate 10% of the reported N100 million spent by the party on advertorials to the families of the deceased soldiers.

“As a matter of fact, we now know through Premium Times report, that these real Nigerian heroes were killed on November 18, 2018, which was the exact time the candidate of the APC, Muhammadu Buhari, invited the service chiefs to attend the launch of the plagiarised #NextLevel launch at the banquet hall of the Presidential Villa.

“The nation can only wonder if the Metele massacre could have been avoided if the APC and President Buhari had allowed the service chiefs to focus on their core duties, rather than on his ill-fated re-election campaign.

“We at the Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation commend the service chiefs for beating a hasty retreat from the event as soon as they discovered that President Buhari was trying to hoodwink them.

“It took Waziri Atiku Abubakar only a few hours to respond to the incident and express support, while it took the APC’s President Buhari a whole week to express ‘shock.’ We, therefore, wonder who is truly ‘selfish.’

“It is left to Nigerians to compare and contrast who is a leader and who is a follower, based on the conduct of these two parties.

“In any case, we would like to inform the APC of Waziri Atiku Abubakar’s call for financial support from well-meaning individuals and institutions for the survivors of the Metele massacre, and, indeed, all who paid the supreme sacrifice in the front lines for us to be safe.

“Seeing as the APC spent N100 million to buy frontpage advertorials in all the papers on that fateful day of November 18, 2018, we appeal to them to consider donating even 10 per cent of that amount to the endowment for the families of our heroes as proposed by Atiku Abubakar.

“Incidentally, the APC’s statement accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of ‘selfishness’ and ‘mercantilism’ which is very curious as the Waziri dedicated his birthday, not to himself, but to celebrating the 100 or so heroes of the 157 Task force Battalion of the Nigerian Army who lost their lives to Boko Haram at Metele in Borno State.

“That the Waziri Adamawa asked for anyone who wished to give him birthday gifts to instead endow such on the families of the slain heroes is the opposite of selfishness.

“Ironically, the All Progressives Congress that is now accusing Atiku Abubakar has not deemed it fit to pay tribute to these gallant men who gave their lives in order to secure the lives of others.

“As a party, they have not issued even one statement condoling with the slain or their families, neither have they offered any tangible support to the families of these fallen heroes. Yet, they are accusing the Waziri, who has shown commitment to honouring these heroes, of selfishness.”
But responding through Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, yesterday, President Buhari dismissed the charge, as he upbraided Atiku for politicising what he claimed was a national tragedy.

He said: “They are just playing politics with the tragedy that happened. They are just playing politics. What happened should be a collective problem, it cuts across party lines, it is a matter that patriots must rise and address collectively.

“It is not a matter that PDP and APC would be addressing separately. In saner societies, there would even be no mention of PDP or APC in this matter, it would be a collective problem. The reason is that right from the time they were in power, they were the ones who started this problem in the first place.

“It was under their government that Boko Haram started in the first place and they are blaming others for what they caused.

“As it is today, the PDP should cover its head in shame when we talk about Boko Haram because if they had nipped Boko Haram in the bud, it would not be where it is today.

“They have no moral right to accuse any other government over Boko Haram. Boko Haram was birthed, developed, escalated under the PDP government, so they should cover their head in shame over the Boko Haram problem.”

PoliticsBuhari’s Govt Has Left Nigerians Worse Off, Says Atiku’s Spokesman by akinbode1(op): 6:39am On Nov 14, 2018
ABUJA—Spoke-sman of the presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar; Mr. Paul Ibe has described the administration of President Muhammudu Buhari as a disaster, saying it has left Nigerians worse off. Atiku and Buhari He said Nigerians have never been so divided under a government that promised change. This came as a support group known as Atiku Action Group, AAG 2019, said it has mobilised over three million Nigerians for Atiku.

Speaking at the first inaugural seminar of the group in Abuja on Tuesday, Ibe, who was the Guest Speaker said Buhari’s government has failed Nigerians, assuring that Atiku has the answer to the country’s many woes. He said: “ The citizens are divided. This scenario should worry any patriotic Nigerian. A leader should unite his country, but he cannot do so if he is insensitive to our diversity. Genuine criticisms of lopsided appointments of security chiefs are frequently ignored and those canvassing respect for our diversity are openly insulted and maligned to divert attention from the issue. “Nothing can be more dangerous than a political leadership that is indifferent to genuine public criticisms. “Under no circumstance should Nigerian leaders take its unity for granted. Yes, Nigeria has remarkable resilience, but let us not push our luck too far by disrespecting the country’s sensibilities. We have only come thus far by the mercies and grace of God.”

Education‘call Off This Strike’, Education Minister Beg ASUU by akinbode1(op): 8:15am On Nov 06, 2018
The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, has appealed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to call off the ongoing nationwide strike.

He made the appeal on behalf of the Federal Government while addressing a news conference on Monday in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

“As the Minister of Education, I feel your pain; I share your concern and I am willing to go to any mile so that together we can change the narrative of this country for the better,” Adamu said.

“I want to use this opportunity to appeal to ASUU to put off this strike in the name of the country, and in view of what the situation is.”

The minister stressed that it was important for the leadership of the union to suspend the industrial action for proper negotiation to take place.

He explained that while the government was already engaging the union to address the issues raised, negotiating under the pressure of strike may lead to coming up with agreements that would not be implementable.

Adamu said, “Come, let us continue the talk; it is something that we have already started. And I am optimistic that dialogue will produce better results.”

“For us to negotiate under the pressure of strike, we will end up producing the kind of agreement we had in 2009, which almost all stakeholders have agreed is not easily implementable,” he added.

The minister further assured the aggrieved lecturers that the government was already making efforts to address their concerns.

One of these, according to him, is the fund being demanded by ASUU which he said would be released by the government soon.
The issue of the release of N20 billion to the universities – on this, let me state in unequivocal terms that I am in touch with the Minister of Finance and that she is very optimistic this will be released in the coming weeks.”

Mr Adamu addressed reporters a day after the leadership of ASUU ordered its members to commence a total and indefinite strike, following a meeting at the Federal University of Technology, Akure in Ondo State.

The union through its national president, Professor Abiodun Ogunyemi, had accused the government of making cheap promises, saying they would not be swayed by such.

PoliticsStop Acting Like Father Christmas, Atiku Tells Buhari by akinbode1(op): 7:57pm On Nov 04, 2018
Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to attend to the needs of Nigerians instead of donating money to other countries.

The former vice president said that Nigeria’s resources should be used for the country and its people and not as donations to others.

He said that the President and his team should be more prudent with national resources.

Atiku, in a statement by its media office in Abuja on Sunday wondered why a country whose leaders had vowed to sell its national assets would still be donating money without considering its implications.

He said that the President recently promised to donate $500,000 to Guinea Bissau, along with other material donations.

He said, “Recently, we had cause to counsel the Buhari administration to be more prudent with national resources after the government declared its intention to sell national assets built by previous administrations to fund their business as usual 2019 budget.

“Apparently, rather than give heed to our pro bono patriotic advise, the Buhari administration is persisting in the financial profligacy that has seen them destroy a once thriving economy.
“In the latest instance, the Buhari government has announced that it is making a $500,000 donation to Guinea Bissau, along with other material donations.

“Our response is to ask why a nation that has been officially named as the world headquarters for extreme poverty, will donate her resources to others instead of using them to solve pressing domestic problems?

“This is the same government that is so cash strapped that it has so far borrowed ₦13 trillion in three years putting our economy in even greater peril.

“How prudent is it to go about taking loans from whomsoever cares to lend you money and then turn around to give out those same monies even when your own people are suffering the worst forms of poverty they have ever endured?

“We call on the Buhari administration to cut their coat according to their cloth. He should stop donating like Father Christmas. He should attend to then need of Nigerians.

SportsBreaking:Leicester City Players To Attend Club Owner’s Funeral In Thailand by akinbode1(op): 9:50pm On Nov 02, 2018
Striker Jamie Vardy and his Leicester City team mates will travel to Thailand for the funeral of owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha after Saturday’s English Premier League match against Cardiff City.

The 60-year-old billionaire died last Saturday with four others when his helicopter crashed next to Leicester’s King Power Stadium.

The funeral, likely to last a week, starts on Saturday in Bangkok.

Former England international Vardy said on Friday that he and the other players had to be there.

“That’s how we are — we are a close-knit group. We are one big family and one of the main reasons for that is Vichai,” he said. “For us to be there is massively important.”

Vichai bought Leicester in 2010 and the team went on to stun the football world by winning the English Premier League title against the odds in 2016.

Vardy said the last week had been the hardest of his life but the players, who will travel by road to Cardiff, were keen to play on Saturday.

“We all spoke about wanting to play,” said Vardy. “It’s what Vichai would have wanted and that’s we are going to do.

“We know what we have to do and we need to go out and honour his name and put in a performance which will hopefully get the win.

“It is going to be tough and it will be very emotional, but we’ve all chatted about it. People are saying the result doesn’t matter, but for us lads we want to make it a positive result.”

Politics“I Neither Demolished Mosques Nor Sent Hausa Out Of Anambra” – Peter Obi by akinbode1(op): 9:15pm On Nov 02, 2018
PDP Vice Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who spoke with journalists in Lagos on November 1st has denied claims of demolishing mosques and sending Hausas out of Anambra as Governor of the state.

Peter Obi described claims of snubbing the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III; driving Hausas away from Anambra State, shunning the then Minister of Finance, Dr. Shamsuddeen Usman’s attempt at mediation and not visiting schools in the North as sheer fabrication, wicked and inhuman, the allegation being circulated by the All Progressives Congress, APC.

He further disclosed that the irony of the claims is that, he has been friends with His Eminence, the Sultan right from his first year at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 1980 through his tenure as Nigeria’s Defence Attaché in Pakistan till date.

“As a matter of fact, the mosque at Onitsha was destroyed before I became governor.

The irony of this concoction is that I have been a friend of His Eminence, the Sultan right from my first year at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 1980 through his tenure as Nigeria’s Defence Attaché in Pakistan till the present.

The fact is that the visit of his Eminence, during which I was alleged to have snubbed him was purely a courtesy call after which I personally accompanied him to see the Obi of Onitsha, Obi Alfred Achebe with whom he had a meeting. I also requested His Eminence to visit the Hausa community in the state during which I offered to rebuild and subsequently gave them the funds for that purpose.” Obi said

PoliticsShut Up Your Mouth, Stop Behaving Like Coward, Fayose Telles Ekiti CJ by akinbode1(op): 12:11pm On Nov 01, 2018
Former Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose, has told the Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Ayodeji Daramola, to grow up and shed his toga of unbridled hatred for him.

According to a press statement issued on his behalf by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, the former governor who was reacting to a statement by Daramola bad-mouthing the new state-of-the-art High Court complex constructed by the Fayose administration, said Daramola had only lent credence to the Yoruba adage that the horse of our enemy is never tall enough in our reckoning.

Adelusi said the true test of maturiry and decency is another Yoruba adage which says an elephant is too big an animal that somone out of malice or hatred will compare with a fly.

He continued, “Reproach and bad-belle apart, the high court complex built by Fayose is world class. It is also the first of its kind since the creation of Ekiti state in 1996.

“If Daramola cannot commend Fayose, he could as well shut up his mouth and stop behaving like a cry-baby”

Adelusi described Daramola’s statement that the new high court complex, built and commissioned five months ago, was hybrid of absurdity that could not be put to use, as an after-thought and an exercise in futility.

“It is shameless Pull-Him-Down syndrome at work.

“Daramola was there at commissioning; he should have spoken there and then or is he a coward? Disparaging Fayose now is an act of cowardice.

” Speaking now after Fayose has left office tantamounts to back-biting and stabbing the former governor in the back”

Adelusi however said he was not surprised by what Justice Daramola said because the judge was sad that such high court complex for the state was built by somebody he hated with a passion.

“Justice Daramola has never hidden his displeasure towards Fayose, dating back many years. He had time and again allowed himself to become willing tool in the hands of some politicians to be used against the former governor.

“Justice Daramola was bitter and shed tears at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado Ekiti on October 16, 2014, the day Fayose was being sworn in for second term because the former governor triumphed over all their conspiracies.

“Throughout the four years of Fayose’s administration, Justice Daramola never attended state functions personally and on the day when the foundation of the new high court complex was being laid, Justice Daramola openly expressed doubt of Fayose completing the project.
“In this regard, what does any right-thinking person expect Justice Daramola to say of one of Fayose’s legacy projects?

“When the project started, if truly he had noticed certain defects, why did he fail to point them out? Why did he have to wait till now? This, certainly, is not the act of a forward-looking person. It is without doubt an act of backwardness.

“Had this project been executed by the All Progressive Congress ( APC) administration whose interests Daramola leaves no one in doubt he represents, he would have commended it to high heavens.

“Justice Daramola will be well advised to please insulate himself from politics and allow Ekiti judiciary remain the last hope of the common man”, the statement concluded.

Christianity EtcThere Is No Day Nigeria Will Become An Islamic Nation, Oyedepo Warns by akinbode1(op): 2:59pm On Oct 28, 2018
The founder and President of the Living Faith Church worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has again warned Nigerians politicians over the unending killings of innocent Nigerians just as he siad that “Politicians be warned, whether in power or not in power. There is no day Nigeria will become an Islamic nation and this nation will remain one nation.’

Oyedepo gave this warning in a satellite telecast of the church’s prayer session for the nation.

The Bishop, while urging politicians to repent and have value for the lives of citizens, said if they do not repent after this warning, they would fall down for the sake of the nation.

“Politicians be warned, whether in power or not in power. There is no day Nigeria will become an Islamic nation and this nation will remain one nation.

“ Allow the Christians to go to church, allow the Muslims go to their mosque and let the traditional worshippers do their thing.

“God is giving Nigeria peace by all means, the peace of those promoting this wickedness, God is taking away, if they refuse to repent. Their supplies shall dry up because Nigeria shall not see war.

He said that every leader is just a caretaker and God remains the creator and owner of every Nation including Nigeria.

He added that Nigeria would have peace when they understand that God is in control of everything including the land.

“ When a caretaker start behaving like a landlord he will be removed. God is the permanent landlord of the earth.

“The God of heaven has given you authority and power. He has given you might and glory. Pride makes us think that we do not need God. Pride separates us from God. Nebuchadnezzar did not give credit to God, and God had enough.

“God had warned Nebuchadnezzar and had been very patient with him. But finally, the prophecy came true. All of the things that he was so proud of were taken away.

“Nebuchadnezzar had to eat grass just like the goats and cows! He was used to living in a grand palace, but now he had no shelter over his head; For 7 years, the great King Nebuchadnezzar lived out there in the wilderness like an animal.

PoliticsWe’ve Elected Uneducated Leaders –sanusi by akinbode1(op): 1:37pm On Oct 28, 2018
The emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, on Saturday said Nigerians must ensure they elect into public offices, leaders who “are educated and know the value of education.”

Sanusi said Nigerians had made mistakes in the past by electing leaders without education, who subsequently could not give quality education when they got into the government.

The Emir stated this at the 6th convocation of the Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja, where he urged Nigerians not to elect leaders without quality education to public offices.

Sanusi, who was conferred with an Honorary Doctor of Science, alongside the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, said the Federal Government must use part of the trillions of naira it spent on subsiding petroleum products to educate the youth of the country.

The Emir said, “We have to take an interest in the quality of our leaders and representatives in the level of education. If you look around this country at many levels of leadership, we have elected and we have chosen to elect people who do not have education. And because they are not educated, they cannot give education.

“We need to lay more emphasis on the quality of people we elect to executive and legislative offices and we need to make sure that those to whom we entrust policy are themselves educated and know the value of education.

“Let us invest more in education and let us give up some of the privileges that we have such as the trillions we are spending subsiding petroleum products. That money should go into educating our young people.

In a remark, the Alaafin of Oyo commended the university for the award, saying the honour would motivate him to contribute more to the country.

PoliticsThere Is A Plot Against Me By Influential Members In APC – Oshiomole by akinbode1(op): 6:58pm On Oct 27, 2018
Adams Oshiomole, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has cried out over an alleged plot by some influential persons within the party to pass vote of no confidence in him.

The former Governor also noted that those who lost out in the recent primary elections were frustrating his plans to reposition the ruling party. According to the former labour leader, his sin was his scorn for impunity and circumvention of due process carried out in some states.

Oshimhole said this in a statement signed and made available to reporters by his Chief Press Secretary, Simon Ebegbulem, yesterday.

He, however, vowed to lead the APC to victory in the 2019 general elections, in spite of the gang-up. The statement said,

“It is sad that while the national chairman is working round the clock, some stakeholders have thrown selfish political agenda into the mix to threaten the building of institutional capacity for the APC.

“The suggestion in some quarters, especially by one of the presidential aspirants on the platform of the party, Mumakai Unagha, that the APC cannot win with Oshiomhole is, therefore, unfair, denigrating and baleful of Oshiomhole’s persona and commitment to a rejuvenated winning machine that the APC typifies.

“The totality of Unagha’s claims, without necessarily addressing them one after the other, tallies with cooked-up narratives being sponsored by some influential stakeholders in their respective states that Oshiomhole is responsible for all the problems in the APC at the moment.

“These influential stakeholders, according to grapevine, have begun to mobilise to pass a no-confidence vote in the leadership of Oshiomhole, having failed to impose their preferred candidates on the party in the nomination process.

“Rather than resort to needless perfidy at the threshold of a general election, we call on them to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship, bolstered by the fact that the Oshiomhole leadership is propelled more by its interest in propriety in which victory for the party could be grounded.

“The crime committed by Oshhiomhole’s leadership is its disdain for impunity and circumvention of due process perpetrated in some of the states at the pleasure of some influential stakeholders.

“Overall, Comrade Oshiomhole has not, since stepping in the saddle, taken any unilateral decision in the running of the party affairs. All decisions, so far taken, passed through the mills of NWC deliberative sessions and enjoyed unanimous resolutions. The records are there. History will justify Comrade Oshiomhole and posterity will vindicate him.

“APC under Oshiomhole, is in safe hands as the party marches, sure-footedly, to victory in the 2019 general election. This is the overarching mission of the National Working Committee (NWC), of the party under his leadership.

“To be clear, Oshiomhole did not become national chairman of the governing party to bring it down a notch from the pedestal of its 2015 electoral victory let alone to preside over its liquidation.

“Rather, his single-minded goal, from the outset of his declaration of interest in the position, was to deploy his capacity in helping to strengthen and reposition the party as a truly supreme and disciplined political entity.

“Although, it might appear fortuitous to some persons that he became national chairman at the threshold of the 2019 general election; the truth is that there is no accident in predestination.

“We must appreciate the fact that it has pleased God to place him in the saddle of APC leadership at this time for a purpose.

“The purpose has begun to manifest in its vast flourish and ramifications: instilling discipline, ensuring party supremacy, promoting due process, dealing with impunity and executive arrogance wherever they manifest to undermine intra-party electoral processes in the states.

“From the outset, we never expected that those who cherished and supported the status quo, which Oshiomhole supplanted, would cave in easily under the magnitude of the current political revival that he spearheads.

“Indeed, while the progressives are enamored of change, the conservatives find it difficult to embrace it. That is the current reality in the deliberate effort to rebrand the APC.

“Again, we were not, in the least, deluded that the process of rebranding or rewriting the narrative of the four-year old party would be easy. What we are witnessing in the APC today is Oshiomhole’s adroit management of the strains and pains that accompany the birth of a resuscitated governing party.

“The leadership provided in the recently-held primary elections and the large-scale integrity of the processes are developments that should hence serve as exemplars in the administration of governing parties.

“Indeed, the message therein is very clear that the party, and not pseudopolitical empires in the states, has the power to superintend the primary elections for the nomination of the party’s candidates in the general election.

“While the party will not surrender its functions, which are constitutionally circumscribed, to any other entities, it will always be ready to moderate the divergent tendencies and mediate the disparate political camps in the interest of party cohesion.

“This is one of the hard nosed truths that the Oshiomhole-led NWC preaches and practises with an apostolic zeal to the chagrin of some influential stakeholders in the states.

“Oshiomhole envisions an APC that is capacitated to pragmatically build a corpus of leadership and membership that do not only submit to the high ideal of party supremacy but also the credo of party discipline.

“These – party supremacy and discipline – are two fundamentals that had been eroded even before the emergence of the Oshiomhole leadership,” Ebegbulem noted.

“With eyes firmly fixed on the general election, especially the re-election of President Buhari in the scheduled February 16 poll, Oshiomhole assures all stakeholders in the APC of his respect for them.

“He assures them of his readiness to work with them for the good of the party. The chairman also proposes a common front in the general election and believes that the APC, as a governing party, will do a commemorative post mortem next year to appraise and reappraise the political developments and decisions that presaged the election, which it would win emphatically.”

PoliticsEkiti Lawmaker Shot On The Head By Unidentified Gunmen by akinbode1(op): 8:14pm On Oct 26, 2018
Some unidentified gunmen on Friday shot a member of the Ekiti House of Assembly, Mr. Michael Adedeji, at a close range at Ado Ekiti while driving to Akure, Ondo State.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Adedeji, who was said to have survived narrowly, was initially rushed to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital for treatment.

He was later transferred to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti, when his condition became critical.

Confirming the incident, the Deputy Speaker of the House, Segun Adewumi, said in Ado Ekiti that Adedeji, who represents Ekiti Southwest Constituency II, was shot on the head.

He said the lawmaker was immediately rushed to the EKSUTH where he was admitted at the Accident and Emergency unit for intensive care.

The deputy Speaker, a PDP member, disclosed that the victim was accosted and shot by the gunmen while reversing his car in a bid to escape.

“When he was accosted on the way, the lawmaker wanted to flee the scene by putting his car on reverse gear, but these evil men opened fire on his vehicle and the bullets hit him on the head.

“He was immediately taken to a hospital in Ado Ekiti where he received emergency treatment,” he said.

When NAN got to the Accident and Emergency Unit of EKSUTH at about 12 noon, it was learnt that the lawmaker has been referred to the federal teaching hospital in Ido Ekiti.

Adedeji narrowly escaped being suspended by the House under the former Speaker, but he was made to tender an open apology at the House plenary.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Caleb Ikechukwu, said he would react to the incident as soon as it is brought to the notice of the state Police Command.

To be honest, there's little the government can do here. The workers should learn one or two skills and start living an independent life. A work-intensive job that doesn't rely on the government before they earn. Many of them are suffering today because they relied too much on their state government. They should forget about previous salaries, concentrate on the present and fight for the future. They need some serious work-off to work-on their present predicament. Being a civil servant shouldn't be used as an excuse for laziness. Hardworking pays!!!
You need to be guided.......

PoliticsThings Are Not Right With Nigeria, Says Sultan by akinbode1(op): 7:52am On Oct 24, 2018
The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, has criticised the Federal Government for lack of coordination and the nation’s security agencies for not working for a common purpose.

As the 2019 elections drew nearer, the Sultan also warned that politicians might want to orchestrate the type of violent crisis that rocked Kaduna last week in which over 50 persons were killed by hooligans.

This, he said, would be done to scuttle the elections or to give the masterminds an advantage over their opponents.

Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday at the ‘National Dialogue for Democratic Stability’ organised by the Alumni Association of the National Institute, Abubakar said things were not right with the country, citing the increased level of crime and criminality across the federation.

The Sultan said, “I cannot say things are right with Nigeria; things are not right with Nigeria. We all know that and that’s why we have these security issues, kidnappings, killings, everywhere, everywhere you find a community.

“One of the saddest things that have happened in the last five days is the killing in Kaduna. If you know how these killings started, you would feel so bad. It is not a religious crisis; it was caused by people who don’t have jobs, they are hungry, they want to lead a good life.

“You would find that all that took place was the looting of shops, that’s all, nothing more. There was no burning of churches and mosques. People were going about killing people, breaking cars.

“As we inch closer to elections, we are going to get worse scenarios because politicians would definitely use it to do whatever they want, to scuttle elections or to make sure they are at an advantaged position”

Citing the Interfaith Initiative for Peace conference held in Abuja last week which was attended by President Muhammadu Buhari and the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, the Sultan complained that its outcomes had not been implemented.

He also came hard on the current administration, stating that there was no coordination in the government, noting that the security agencies also were not working for a common purpose.

He lamented that there was little cooperation among the heads of the security outfits.

Abubakar said, “Who coordinates? Is it the office of the SGF (Secretary to Government of the Federation)? Is it the NSA (National Security Adviser) who coordinates national security? Is he really coordinating national security? That’s a big question we need to ask too.”

“There is a disjoint between the security agencies’ leadership and also the followers. The intelligence agencies are also working at different levels, so we continue to have this problem.
