PoliticsRe: Achebe On Awolowo: Has He Gone Too Far? by akinmax: 10:11am On Oct 07, 2012
Time past , time and time again,The yorouba nation has been waiting patiently for a reference point to unleash their animosity on this ungrateful people ,who always abuse their hospitality and peacefullness , the cloud is gathering, It may be long, quick or sudden, but I bet you Boko haram strategy to kill will be a child play in comparison to this.If at this time in history of our country , one children book writer is vomiting garbage, what this means is adding more salt to a wound - a trigger effect to already over heated politics. The noting is always true about the Ibo folks, they always look for trouble, anywhere they are, they hate decorum ,its in their DNA.

afam4eva: The Nigerian team will come fighting like a wounded lion. I pity for Argentina. You don't play a team that was humilated by the US without getting stained. I see the Nigerian team qualifying from this group and meeting the US in the final where they will go on a revenge mission and beat the US and be crowned the Olympic basketball champions.

THE strength of any country is it MAN POWER, either Skilled, semi-skilled, or unskilled man power. The greatest resources Nigeria has is it Man power!.It should never appear to be a curse!.It should be a blessing if properly earnest. All we need is good leader to champion the cause.since the good people in this counrty is 90% more than the bad .Good will win the battle one day, and we will rise again.

BusinessRe: Cashless System In Nigeria: Are We Ready For The Down Side? by akinmax: 8:14am On Mar 20, 2012
I doubt if the OP understand the basic of what the Sanusi cashless economy is really all about. Is not about ATM or cards.ATM cards short coming has always been there which is not particular to Nigeria alone, its a global thing.Cashless economy simple mean an electronics alternative to physical cash. There are other means to settle payment Mobile money, internet Banking, vending, etc. What we should be asking for is an improvement on our infrastuctures rather than remain in stone age.The advantages far outweigh the shortcomings both on the short-term and long-term.ATM/card theft, ATM machine problems are hurdle in a journey that need continuous improvement not a destination .Mind you, with the new chip card security features it is practically impossible to clone the card.

even though Kanu Nwankwo has given me more joy than all the Presidents put together but your question- can we name Nigerian celebrities (actors & actresses, musicians, rappers, etc) that could run for president in 2015 and probably win? is totally a gross crap/insult to Nigerians at this stage .
PoliticsRe: The Truth About Lagos by akinmax:
bilms: THE TRUTH ABOUT LAGOS

Many would say that the Lagos government has performed and i would ask, show me their works.

Lagos State has no doubt changed, but so is every other states of Nigeria. Taking a look around Lagos,i can't but lament poor government presence in most part of the state just like other states. Many are fast to praise the government for doing well due to the media hype, but truly,i have not seen anything in Lagos that worth the massive praise the government had received.

Can you please mention exactly what the masses in Lagos had enjoyed from the government? Some would jump at comparing Lagos with other states and it is reasonable, but in comparing two states, you should tell us how much does the state you compare Lagos with earn from FG and what they make internally. In my view, the truth about Lagos state is that,it made the poor poorer to the comfort of the rich.

it is possible for you not to see it because you are so blind.A state that has more than 15million dwellers ,trying to maintain law and order that is far beyond any state in this country ,revamping decline/abandoned infrastructures, curtailing the ever increasing overhead cost- I doubt if there is any state in Nigeria that has employed more worker than Lagos state govt, from slum to mega city project.lagos, like most big city of the world is not an egalitarian society it is a capitalist society, no free lunch,if you a have potential(s) you will compete favorable well irregardless of where you come from and get real value for your effort in Lagos unlike other parts of the country .

PoliticsRe: Ex-Militants Get More Money Than Health Sector: Nigeria's 2012 Budget by akinmax: 6:48pm On Mar 16, 2012
gulfer: The National Assembly yesterday passed the 2012 Appropriation Act of N4,877,209,156,933 with a startling revelation that President Goodluck Jonathan allocated more money to the ex-Niger Delta Militants than the nation’s critical health sector.

A breakdown of the budget shows that the Presidential Amnesty Programme for ex-militants has a recurrent expenditure of N66,176,411,902 while the entire health sector was allocated N60,920,219,702.

The staggering allocation to the ex-militants is separate from the huge amount also allocated to the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, which is to gulp N48,673,424,630. In other words, the ex-militants and NDDC, which ought to create a conducive atmosphere to discourage militancy in the Niger Delta, were cumulatively allocated N114 billion.

The controversial fuel subsidy has the lion share of N888 billion followed by Works which is to gulp N244 billion.

Education, which is another critical sector of the economy, received only N66 billion, while Power was allocated N75 billion.

Transport is to gulp N89 billion and Water Resources N75 billion.

The 2012 budget, which was increased by about N228.3 billion after it was amended by the National Assembly, is predicated on a crude oil benchmark of $72 per barrel and a production output of 2.48 million barrels per day, as well as an exchange rate of N155 to the U.S. dollar.

After the passage of the budget, Senator President David Mark congratulated his colleagues for the quick passage of the budget and enjoined the executive to submit the 2013 budget to the National Assembly “latest by September this year, to enable us consider and pass it before the end of the year.”http://pmnewsnigeria.com/2012/03/16/jonathans-budget-shocker-ex-militants-get-more-money-than-health-sector/
Plus thousands of oil thieves bunker in ND region, plus royalty paid to various kingdom head and local miscreants ,plus illegal refinery in ND. yet they are still crying for more allocations...!!!!! God have mercy on this country...!.This is gross injustice !

DORA of course!

Dora commitment is pure to her motherland even at expense of death.Nogzi thinks she's doing Nigeria a favour by working in Nigeria, she's doing everything to protect her job in world bank other than Nigeria ,she demanded to be paid in dollar in her first coming.

@ Bawss You know this how?

You have to be a member of Boko Haram or an intelligence officer to know this, either way the sensible thing to do is wait till facts are presented before you start displaying your 'knowledge'.

A tragedy occurs and people want to score points instead getting their facts right.I agree with you 100%.feelamong , has a case to answer, his choice of language is fishing or what is he trying to pass acrosshuh

First of all Oil Company are  privately owned. They are free to site their company just any where they believe is good for the business. No government can coerce them.

Who will relocate company to where kidnapping is the order of the day, where militant  will even kill military personal, restive region.

Market factor, how many companies will prefer to go and do business in the creek, ??

Cost of doing business in N- delta, Where is the land to build the company in the creek, huh, even if it is built every month royalty from MEND will pursue the company.
