The cost of clearing should include: 1. Import duty payable 2. Shipping company charges(ask for refund of deposit) 3. Terminal charges(if transfered to another terminal) 4. Transportation( Depends on location) 5. Clearing agent charges. You would safe money now and in your subsequent shippment if you prepare your document yourself and estimate the amount of import duty payable to government before you import. What you just have to do is to submit your RAR(Risk Assessment Report) to your clearing agent. This method would allow you to track your charges and believe me, it can save you millions in clearing charges.Visit niajainfo.com for information. |
I think your long term plan is to come to Nigeria and start an haulage business of your own. I will post a full business plan of starting an haulage business in Nigeria on my website www.niajainfo.com by july 1,2009. The business plan should guide you on your next move. It will be comprehensive and freely avaliable. I advice that the import duty you pay should not be less than or more than 195,965 naira for the type of truck you are bringing into the country. This about is based on custom new rule. The break down is below; Surface duty for used truck head 140,000 s/c on duty 9,800 etls levy 3,500 vat@5% 42,665 Total duty payable 195,965 |
