PoliticsRe: Lagos Is Owing N124b by akintun: 8:09am On May 21, 2011
Lagos debt in the short-term is OK, but i foresee the state having problems in the long term because its bonds are high yield bonds when compared to the developed world. The state revenue shows that more money would have to be borrowed to repay its debt(ponzi scheme). I believe the state would be aggressive in its revenue drive to avoid defaulting on its debt.
PoliticsRe: Atiku Promises To Reduce Company Income Tax To 10%, by akintun: 1:17pm On Dec 01, 2010
company tax @ 10%. The man must be joking. I think d best thing is to leave it at 30%, and make special tax allowance for new and small companies . Companies dat fullfil certain cateria based on environment, investment and charity should also be given some tax allowance.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Takes Us Back To The Importation Regime by akintun: 12:09pm On Nov 30, 2010
The move by the d president is ok, but d problem i hav with it, is dat i feel it was  politically motivated. d gov make laws without telling d people d economic benefit of making such laws. Businessess are not even given d time to adjust to any law made by d government.

i think madrid would bounce back and challenge 4 d title. i have been extremely impressed with dem dis season, and losing 5 nil does not rule dem out of d title race ( remember man u).

For the records , most sportsmen are educated. And Tiger is a Harvard graduate , bet you can never get the kind of education he got.
If you mean most Nigerian sportsmen ( even that is debateable ) aren't educated , then you might have a point but I see only names of foreign sportsmen.

Lest I forget , who says indulging in debauchery , immorality , frivolity and adultery means one is uneducated

Tiger wood droped out of stanford to focus on his golfing career.

SportsRe: Nigerian Fifa Executive Committee Member Offer To Sell 2018 World Cup Bid Votes by akintun: 11:10am On Oct 17, 2010
This sunday times people would most likely destroy england bid to host d world-cup. They have made adamu and d other guy thieves. A time would come when people would not trust d british in business.
SportsRe: Damola Osayemi Test Positive To Recently-Banned Drug: MethylHexaneamine by akintun: 12:26am On Oct 13, 2010
I sincerely dont understand why some of u are abusing osayemi. It is clear dat d girl would have mistakenly taken d drug as it was just recently added to d banned list. Some companies dont even include it as a component drugs they sell to d public. Anyone dat follows athletics would know dat osayemi does not need to take drugs to get a medal in a race dat was made up of second/third rated athletes.
The fault should be with Nigeria sport officials.
SportsTactics Destroys Nigeria Felix Expo Medal Hopes In Commonwealth Games by akintun(op): 1:52pm On Oct 07, 2010
Nigeria Felix Expo missed out on a medal in weightlifting after getting his tactics horribly wrong. Despite leading the competition after the snatch category, he failed to make a lift in d C and J category because he was focusing on his opponent instead of first securing a silver medal. The coaching staff and officials should be blamed because throughout d competition dey have been feeling smart and dishonest about d ability of our lifters trying to outsmart other countries by first declaring a lower entry lift 4 d lifters. Now it has caught up with dem.

SportsNigeria Wins First Gold Of The Commonwealth Games by akintun(op): 11:40am On Oct 04, 2010
Nigeria Augustina Nwaokolo has won the first gold medal of the commonwealth games in d female 48kg weightlifting class. The 17 year old broke d games record but her lift was still short of d world junior record held by a chinese. The good thing is dat she is only 17 and she has time to improve b4 the olympic games in london provided d government can provide 4 her development.
SportsRe: Victor Ikpeba And His Supersport Match Analysis by akintun: 2:23pm On Sep 01, 2010
bros is not everybody that is broke like u or uses that arican dstv nonsense, here we watch skysport, bbc, espn and co so when you say something about ikpepa explain what he said

Supersport in Africa is better than all those channels u mentioned because u are able to watch more sporting event on dstv. In d uk, u cannot even get all d premership matches live on tv.

Poster with time all the ex-international would improve. It is d norm around the world to use former players and coaches as sport analyst.

SportsRe: Can Anti-competition Law Save Hitv by akintun(op): 2:42pm On Aug 06, 2010
Economy?DSTv probably contributes more to the economy of this country than HiTV probably ever will
is it not better to have more than one company contributing to d economy, and i'm not advocating 4 d right to be transferred to hitv. what i'm saying is dat dstv should make some of its stations avaliable on other cable stations at a price fixed by NBC. This would then enable consumers with other decoders watch the EPL. it is not good 4 consumers to be changing decoder every 3 years.
It is unfair to compare a company dat started 3 yrs ago to a monopolist who rip Nigerians off with their high monthly charges.
SportsRe: Can Anti-competition Law Save Hitv by akintun(op): 12:31pm On Aug 06, 2010
Please I don't know your stake in HiTV,but my instincts tell me you have a great deal of interests judging from your response.
How come you're bringing up this issue only after HiTV lost the rights for the EPL?When they had it,were you campaigning for eqaul and adequate distributorship the way you're singing now that the rights have been lost?Remember several pay-tv stations begged HiTV to have a glimpse of the EPL games, but HiTV bluntly refused.
Your argument is one of convenience:i.e. it's ok for you to preach the gospel of anti-competition now that they don't have what they used to,forgetting thay they simply were also anti-competitive themselves.
And again, the rules regarding viewership are far different from that of UK.I won't go into the ynamics, because I know very well that it's not the same over here.
So I do not understand why you're expounding on those same details when you know they don't apply over here. For all we know, there is hardly anything such as regulation in any sphere of life in this country so I wonder where the miracle you seek is going to come from
deal with the fact that HiTV lost because of lack of vision instead of slandering DSTv who in the first place made Nigerians aware of the value of the EPL.If HiTV had developed from the EPL rights they had,the loss of these same rights wouldn't be such a blow to them.

i personally dont care about hitv, but i care about d economy and the consumers. i want u to tell me d diff btw the uk and nigeria. Hav started in both countries and i can say d diff is regulation.
SportsRe: Can Anti-competition Law Save Hitv by akintun(op): 7:00pm On Aug 05, 2010
Please leave the OP to wallow in his dellusions of granduer.Anti- ko,uncle ni.
HiTV is a victim of plain stupidity/shortsightedness.
They didn't diversify their operations in spite of the new-found viewership earned, forgeting that the EPL rights are only temporary.
Besides, the rules in the UK are different from what we have here.HiTV bidded for the rights and lost.Me,I can't wait to have DSTv air the EPL once more. The three years with HitV were harrowing,to say the least.

In the uk, they consider the consumers, and their economy as a whole wen making decisions. We cannot as a country keep allowing one company to dominate an industry. wat i meant was dat hitv and other cable stations should be allowed to buy and include supersport 3 among their packages at a price favorable to dstv and other cable stations.

It is common thing in d uk to see sky stations on itv and bt decoders. Recently the regulators forced sky to sell skysport 1 to other cable stations at a fixed price, and dat resulted in BT offering skysport 1 to consumers at a price even lower to those offered by sky.
SportsRe: Can Anti-competition Law Save Hitv by akintun(op): 1:49pm On Aug 05, 2010
Hitv is a new company, derefore it would take a long time 4 dem to build loyalty from customers. Stations usually have their niche market and we cannot deny d fact dat a strong sporting channel is essential 4 a cable station survival. In d united states, ESPN is d most sort after stat* , and disney uses it as a bargainning tool to sale other stat*
SportsCan Anti-competition Law Save Hitv by akintun(op): 1:27pm On Aug 05, 2010
We all know that the inability of Hitv to secure d right to broadcast d english league might lead to d liquidation of d company. In d uk, d regulator forced sky to sale its premium sport channel for a fixed price
I strongly feel dat the Nigeria regulator should adopt d same measure, by forcing dstv to sell some of its premium sport channels to other cable companies at a reduced price, because dis would favour consumers and allow other cable stations to flourish. What is ur take on dis.

I learned that he was born in America (so he is a citizen), but raised in Nigeria, and moved back to the states for school (and plans to stay here).
Poster i have d feelg u made the above statement because u feel or hav heard dat any african marrying an american is doing it to become an american citizen, and i believe dat such belief is d beginning of d end of a relationship in d long run.

SportsRe: Nigeria Will Not Reverse Team Ban: by akintun: 10:25am On Jul 03, 2010
The fact dat some people are supporting dis ban shows dat we have a very long road ahead of us b4 we develop as a nation. Can anyone supporting dis ban tell me dat he/she sincerely believes dat Nigeria football would be better afterwards.
Majority of d time we sit down and make rash decisions which does not favour us as a nation.
i would like to know which nation in the world has achieved success by baning its team from international football. It is just like saying a company should stop operations for two years and re-organize when shareholders desire return on investment. Such a company would surely go bankrupt by the time shareholders depose its shares.
Nigeria football would go bankrupt and we would be on d same level with DRC. No funds from fifa, no corporate investment and no future production line becos we would not be able to attend fifa age group competition.
Wat about the impact on sport related businesses in d country.

The problem we have is dat we dont even have a strategic plan 4 football development. Even countries dat have good plan did not perform well at d world cup.
SportsRe: World Cup 2010 - Should Africa Be Allowed 5 Teams In 2014? by akintun: 10:28pm On Jul 01, 2010
you dont seem to understand urself. i mean with their high entries, there is a higher probability of them qualifying from their group and playing each other wen compared to other regions, which guarantees dem a place in d quater finals. Two of d 3 qualifiers played other european teams to qualify 4 d quater finals.
Using only percentage to judge at the quater final stage is simply not a fair assessment of performance becos 9 out of 10 times, it would favour european teams.
SportsRe: World Cup 2010 - Should Africa Be Allowed 5 Teams In 2014? by akintun: 10:04pm On Jul 01, 2010
Quarter finals

Africa 1 out of 6 = 16.6% success
Europe 3 out of 13 = 23% success
South America = 4 out of 5 80% success

You are only looking at one statistic figure. wat about the prob of qualifying from the groups. Europe had 2 teams in majority of d groups, and therefore had a higher prob of qualifying and facing each other in the next round, which in turn guarantees dem a place in d quater finals.
