SportsRe: World Cup 2010 - Should Africa Be Allowed 5 Teams In 2014? by akintun: 9:55pm On Jul 01, 2010
This topic does not make sense at all. From wat have seen from dis world cup, Europe slot should be reduced and given to Africa and Asia. The quater final is made up of one Africa, 4 S.A , and 3 european teams. The europeans had the highest entries and they messed up big time. North American and Asian teams alway find it difficult to play African teams.
African teams did not perform well, but i believe that many of the African teams would have qualified 4 dis world cup if they played in european qualifiers
BusinessRe: CBN Rolls Back Reforms -Universal Banking To Be Phased Out 2011 by akintun: 2:30am On Mar 18, 2010
i think in this country we never think of the future. We just follow what westerners do and do it wrongly. I have the feeling that sanusi just listens to the debate that goes on about the current financial crisis and he tends to lean towards traditional bankers and hardliners in the west, but western government that adopted the policy of combining commercial and investing banking together in the early 90's are not foolish enough to abolish such policies now until the investment arm of their big banks cover up the losses made by their commercial arms.

i dont understand it when people say that banks can now borrow money to the real sector. i wonder the real sector we have in nigeria that can generate enough operating profit to pay interest on a 30 percent loan.

I hope you guys know you are talking about a dieing man and a grieving wife. i have not seen his wife in public since her husband has been sick and i certainly dont understand the reason why people are trying to demonalize this woman based on speculations. The man has families and we should respect them.
SportsRe: Lars Lagerback Named Super Eagles Technical Adviser by akintun: 1:22pm On Feb 27, 2010
It is really sad that we dont believe in ourselves. This Lagerback guy failed to qualify sweden for the world cup and we have now hired him. At the last world cup, Ghana failed to qualify from the group stages of the nations cup and they ended up becoming the best African team at the world cup. The Nigerian team at the last Nations cup might have dissapointed, but anytime they play against european teams, they alway rise up to the occassion. The Nigeria team under Amodu have been solid but not entertaining and that is what all the world cup winners since 1990 have in common.
What have happened to Amodu in football would most certainly continue to happen in other professions and we will most certainly continue to be backward e.g. Banks been sold to foreign owners, companies making use of simple software applications when they can get ok ones here, doing simple printing jobs abroad etc. The list is endless.
I want anybody to tell me based on the present performance the difference btw capello and amodu. Capello qualified the english team 4 the world cup but he has failed to win spain, germany and france( a team nigeria defeated with second string players under amodu), or someone should tell me the difference between amodu and the french coach and the man still has his job. You can alway point to their previous achievement but given the same opportunity they have in europe are we sure that amodu wont perform has they have done.

It was not dubious.

The guy broke his momentum by grabbing his arm

What i meant by dubious was dat, d penalty was given easily when u consider dat dey were already 3 goals up.

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2009/12/23/jimoh-ibrahim-to-set-up-hotel-in-sao-tome/

ABUJA—The Chairman of the NICON Group of companies, Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim, held talks with the Prime Minister of Sao Tome and Principe, Mr. Raphael Branco, Monday, on the potentials of expanding his investment in that island nation to include a five-star hotel.
Mr. Branco who was on a state visit to Abuja, urged Mr. Ibrahim to take advantage of the tourism potentials of the country by constructing a five-star hotel on the island.
Mr. Ibrahim has already established NICON Insurance Sao Tome and has planned to invest $20m in the establishment of the University of Soa Tome, to be owned 100 per cent by the NICON Group.
Currently, Sao Tome has no university to cater for its human capital development needs.
The Prime Minister, who spoke at a Special Dinner hosted by Ibrahim said that his country has realized the essence of human development and has therefore resolved to support Mr. Ibrahim towards establishing the nation’s first university.
“Our development nowadays is in human development. That is why I want to assure you we will both turn things around. I want you to give me a date you want to start a university.
SportsRe: Which Friendly Matches Should The Super Eagles Play by akintun(op): 10:05am On Dec 24, 2009
Reasons

1. North Korea- Have the same stamina and mental alertness as the South Koreans.
2. Switzerland- Defeated the Greece during the qualifiers
3. Brazil - They have self confidence and also possess the same type of superiority complex as the Argentines when paying against an African opposition.
SportsWhich Friendly Matches Should The Super Eagles Play by akintun(op): 9:46am On Dec 24, 2009
The English national team has lined-up three friendly matches for their team and i am impressed with the quality of the matches they chose. I believe they chose the matches based on the type of opponents they will encounter during the group stages and i think they also considered playing against non-European sides. I believe that Nigeria should also use these methods in deciding our friendly matches. i would prefer we play the following teams;
1. North Korea
2. Switzerland
3. Brazil

u had a 4.01 in ur first semester which is good. i think u should cross over to comp science instead of statistics becos it is more marketable and it gives u an option of been an entrepreneur if u desire. EE is the best of the lot because it covers a wider area. If u are not comfortable with physics do not try entering EE. In sch i saw people who had above 4 point in their semester in EE but still had to transfer to Bus Admin when d going was tough. u are a female and i sincerely feel comp science is ur best option.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Is There Any Hope For A Third Class Bsc Holder? by akintun: 9:21pm On Nov 25, 2009
Go for ur masters. u can be taken in unilag because a grading system is used. Just make sure u pass the exams which is 50%. Ur grade is about 20 to 30%(i can't really remember) and u must join a professional organisation to get the remaining makes. Just make sure u pass the test well becos a third class will reduce ur % 4 the makes allocated to Grades.

The English have a foreign coach dat is performing well (has qualified them for the world-cup) despite not been able to win spain, france and Brazil in friendly matches but d question we should ask ourselves is if an English man had qualified the English team 4 world cup, would he be removed.
SportsRe: 2010 Nations Cup Nigeria Draw Egypt: by akintun: 9:32am On Nov 21, 2009
Nigeria alway qualify from the group stages of the Nations Cup. From 1984 till date, we have failed to reach the semi-finals only once. Ironically, dat occurred at d last Nation-cup when we had our best preparation. We hardly lose to the so called small african teams. Like it or not, Nigeria would not lose to Mozambique or Benin. The Egyptians as alway would be very difficult to defeat. The minimum requirement should be a semi-final place with good football or winning the cup with the usual bad but efficient football.
SportsRe: Do Nigerians Expect Too Much From The Super Eagles by akintun(op): 9:27pm On Nov 18, 2009
Would have reeled out all those statistics if we had lost to Kenya thereby not going to the WC? You are only saying all these because we qualified. We are not expecting much from them - win when you must win and draw when you must. Don't get a draw when a win is necessary. Is that too much of an expectation?

losing to Kenya would have brought up a different statistic. I am personally expecting alot from them and i would be dissapointed if we dont make it to the quater- finals. We should learn to plan long term in this country. A new coach at this time should not be given a 2010 world cup mandate but instead a 2014 mandate should be given to him.

SportsDo Nigerians Expect Too Much From The Super Eagles by akintun(op): 11:35am On Nov 18, 2009
Going thru the world cup qualifiers statistics, i noticed that Nigeria had the best record in most categories in Africa. We won 9 matches and drew 3 matches against Tunisia and Mozambique. Let's face it, it is not a shame to draw against Tunisia and our result against Mozambique was identical to Ivory Coast result against them in the first round of qualifiers. We had the best defensive record by conceding only 5 goals in 12 matches and we kept a clean sheet in 9 of those matches. We had the best fair play record in the qualifiers with only 14 yellow cards and no red card collected . The team that collected 13 yellow cards had 1 red card to their name. The only problem we had statistically, was our goal scored, which was the fifth highest but still 9 goals less than the Ivory Coast and this was actually due to lack of enough creativity thru the middle by our mid-fielders.

Going thru these statistics, i noticed that Nigerians are alway to critical of the Super Eagles(or chickens) and they expect them to play sexy football forgetting that football is also about your mental strength. The Super eagles have shown that they are good mentally (except for occasional madness) and they will definitely be a difficult team to beat any day. Our friendly match against France showed that when we play difficult oppositions from Europe, we would rise up to the occasion.

Nigerians, pls give Amodu a chance and let him start planning for the World cup now. If we even want a foreign coach, we should get him now. The only area that needs urgent attention is the creative mid-field position and Osazie has shown that he can adapt to that role when given a chance. Please give the Eagles a chance.

EducationRe: Dumped Because She Had A 3rd Class by akintun: 9:25am On Nov 14, 2009
Funny d way things happen. a friend of mine left engineering in unilag with a G.P of 1.32 in his fourth year and went to Howard university in US and got a 4.0/4.0 in his first three years. We have also seen people leave science related courses with a third class or pass G.P and transfer to Buss admin to get a first class or a 2.1. i think the girl in question should have transferred.

Results in schools like unilag, UI, and OAU are certainly different from many other schools.

Ehn ehn. Oga. A hypocrite is someone who abuses others of doing what he hinself does.
I dont know how many of the girls here you know, but I doubt you and I have met in your married friends house. So please sir, PLEASE talk with caution. Cos you cant call anyone a hypocrite if you dont know how he or she behaves. I dont know how many of the girls from your youth service camp are here, so please. ok

I am not calling the women on this thread hypocrite. What i mean is that instead of accusing the men of been adulterous, why not also tell the ladies(above 18) to zip up, because if they zip up,there will be no adulterous men.
RomanceRe: Nigerian Married Men And Adultery by akintun: 7:50pm On Oct 06, 2009
The replies by ladies on this thread is hypocritical. It takes two to tangle. During my university education and my one year youth service, i noticed the large number of girls that date married men and this same girls would come and start accusing men of been promiscuous.
