This 'governor' did not go to school, he bought all his certificates off the black market and everyone knew, including the APC bosses.

Now aside from the fact that he did not even win the election but APC rigged him in, he cannot function in that position because he lacks the minimum educational capability required, he's like a fish out of water inside that government house!

Then, if you think it is impossible, hence the pronouncement made by the apex court would have ground as time will be tested in it and it may suffer setback in the future because of its inconsistency with the constitution. That section 162 must be expunged from the constitution, hence, that pronouncement will have no ground to stand at all.
Yes amending it via the apex court was a better and more political approach as it will weaken governors resolve to amend it

How? They were both Lt Col at the time, but Ojukwu was 1955 while Gowon was 1956. Ojukwu had a year seniority over Gowon
Gowon joined the army in 1954 and became sec Lt in 1955 while Ojukwu joined in 1957 and became commissioned in 1958.
Politics › Re: I Want To Properly Understand What Happened During The Biafran War by Akpakomiza2: 10:27am On Dec 23, 2024
gidgiddy:
The book I would recommend to to read, and it is probably the most widely read one, is 'The Nigerian Revolution And The Biafran Civil War' by Major General Alexander Madiebo who was head of the Biafran Army under Ojukwu

Why was the war fought? The war had little to do with military coup, many countries in Africa had military coup around the same time, but none fought war over it

The truth of the matter is that shortly after the British handed over Nigerians in 1960, the country descended into unrest. Between 1960 and 1965, there was the census crisis, disastrous elections of 1964, opration Wetie, martial law declared in the Western Region, Obafemi Awolowo sent to jail for treason. In January 1966, the military struck and democracy came to an end. The new Military Head of State, Ironsi, appointed Ojukwu Military Governor of the Eastern Region. Another Military coup followed in the middle of 1966 in which Ironsi was killed. The coupists made Gowon Military head of State. However they did not stop there. Thousands of Igbos were massacred all over Nigeria, particularly in the North. Hundreds of thousands of Igbos headed back to the East. Many angry Igbos besieged Ojukwu, asking him to declare the Eastern Region a different country out of Nigeria, Ojukwu refused at first. Because of the way Nigeria was structured at the time, all 4 Regions were still controlling their resources and were financially independent of the federal government. So Ojukwu refused to recognise Gowon as head of State, and there was not much Gowon could do about it, Gowon didn't even have the power to fire Ojukwu or arrest him. It was made worse by the fact that Ojukwu was senior to Gowon. Killings after killings, massacre after massacre, pogroms after pogroms, kept occurring.

The situation got so bad that in January 1967, the then President of Ghana, General Joe Ankrah, invited Gowon and Ojukwu to his Hill top mansion in Aburi, Ghana. The aim was to reach a peaceful resolution. For two days, Gowon and Ojukwu discussed and reached an agreement now known as the 'Aburi Accord'. Basically, the agreement turned Nigeria from a federation of 4 Regions, into a confederation of 4 Regions. In return, Ojukwu would recognise Gowon as head of state. Gowon and Ojukwu signed the agreement. It is very important to note that before both men signed the agreement, General Ankrah asked Gowon and Ojukwu if they were happy to sign? Both men said they were happy to do so

Unfortunately, when they returned to Nigeria, Gowon went back on the agreement he signed. To add salt to injury, Gowon abolished all 4 Regions and created 12 new states, which the Aburi agreement forbade him from doing. Ojukwu had no other choice but to declare the Eastern Region a seperate country, known as the "Republic of Biafra". Gowon then declared war. The rest is history

Why was the war fought? Gowon and his Northern cohorts wanted economic and political control of Nigeria, and Igbos said that would not happen without a fight

Winning the war resulted in the North dominating Nigeria for many decades, and still dominates to this day
Ojukwu did not senior Gowon, Gowon outranked him

Thanks.

That's sad. Always thought public service jobs has security, and that it's usually the erring heads or senior officials that should take blame for their errors (I mean if the senior officer erred), but knowing now that an entire commission's workforce can just lose their jobs just like that for the mistake of someone else is scary.
It's not true, it's just the board that is going not the staff

Sometimes civil service work dey confuse me...

Looking at this practice of a governor dissolving commissions or even sacking those recruited by his predecessors on assumption of office, can one say that civil service jobs are not secure or is it just those at the top echelon of the civil service whose jobs are not secure?
He is not sacking the entire workforce but just the board members who are political appointees

This one happened during my second year in UNN. Person like me like to enter school first week of resumption so as to prepare well for the new semester.

She tell me say she go dey very lonely, so make I try stay with am. This na hostel o! But of course, no be first time girls dey sneak in guys.

I tell am say I go come. So by 6pm I dress up enter road. There was nothing like mobile phone back then so I went straight to her hostel. She was already waiting even before I knocked the second time. Her hostel was really deserted. Na only she dey her floor.

We begin gist o. She prepared better food that night ehn. Around 10pm while we were still gisting , we heard some noise downstairs. Gbos gbas, gbos gbas! Doors being kicked downstairs and the footsteps seems to be coming upstairs. Ol boy my mind begin shake. Cult boys o! The girl grabbed me tight as if I be superman. My mind was like "which kind thing be this now" I pinned the chair to the door handle in case dem try our door.

It's a good thing the light was switched off so it doesn't look like anyone was inside the room. Na so I hold the girl, two of us lie down for bed. Two bodies shaking like harmattan leaves. She was praying silently while me dey try to form hard man by telling her "babe nothing will happen" everything go dey fine.

Dem begin kick doors! Gbas gbos , gbas gbos! Getting closer to our own door. I nearly peed on my jeans, but it was inevitable. We saw our door get kicked once, twice! E no bulge. The chair hold the door wella. They continued kicking but the door no gree, na so one of them talk say make dem leave that door, say the occupants no dey resume early.

Na so dem leave o. If you see the kind sweat wey two of us being sweat ehn. Na so we just lie down. I hold am tight till next morning.
She park her things run go her guardian place for town until students return fully.
