That's the mistake the great Igbos keep making, never show thy enemy love.
So yorubas are enemies of the igbos? While this past election has really opened our eyes. Generally yorubas are accommodating people and we don't segregate.
My painters for here, Baba Chidinma is an Igbo man. I give him jobs a lot and introduce more customers to him even to the detriment of my own blood brother.
The company where I work, an Igbo lady from Anambra is the Head of account and the organisation is own by a Yoruba.
Yorubas don't segregate, ours is just get the job done and be diligent irrespective of your tribe .
Go and look at Tinubu's tenure when he was the governor of Lagos state, his cabinet consists of different tribes not just yorubas alone.
Even the Lagos state house of assembly during his tenure comprises of one or two igbos.
But things really took turn during this past election when you want to dictate for your host. Please who does that?

Irony1:
We are not disputing anything. The actress said nollywood started with Yorubas and it is a lie. You just admitted now in your words the Nolkywood metamorphosis was actually from igbos.
Without sentiment please kindly answer this question, based on available information, which tribe started acting before other tribes?

That distribution model was what birthed Nollywood. Also get your facts right as well.
So you've agreed that the Yorubas started the movie industry which metamorphosed into nollywood?

Eastern Nigerian Television (ENTV) which was introduced in October 1st 1960 after WNTV was introduced in October 29th 1959.
So yorubas set the pace right?
TV/Movies › Re: Yorubas Started Nollywood, Own It —Aisha Lawal, Actress And Scriptwriter by akpumping7720(m): 5:55pm On Aug 28, 2023

And Eastern Nigeria just barely a year later isn't it?

But why is that clueless FreeStuffsNG making it look like television came into Igboland decades after it came into yorubaland?

How many yorubas were able to afford a tv set in the precolonial era when the first tv signals hit yorubaland?
Me I don't know when people from Eastern Nigeria started watching TV. But can you furnish us with the name of the first television station in Eastern Nigeria and the year.

Irony1:
Oga the argument is that the commercial motion picture which we know as nollywood is pioneered by Yoruba which is a big lie. It was pioneered by igbos with Living in Bondage. Theater and stage plays were pioneered by Yorubas.
Commercialisation didn't start with Living in Bondage. Get your facts right please. Movies have been produced and sold on VHS before Living in Bondage.
The first movie produced on video in Nigeria was Soso Meji by Ade Ajiboye. But below is an excerpt from the internet:
"Living in Bondage was released in 1992 and is credited as revolutionizing the distribution model of Nigerian films."
Movies have been produced and sold in Nigeria before Living in Bondage. But living in bondage birthed the distribution model of Nigerian films.

You saw my question clearly and you are still asking me...

I asked when did television enter yorubaland?

The person the question is meant for is now as silent as a Love Machine
Bros television entered the whole of West Africa in 1959. And the first television station was established in Yoruba land. So the yorubas who can afford a TV set has been watching television before other regions in Nigeria.

Entered Yoruba land or the whole of Nigeria or even the whole of West Africa?
TV/Movies › Re: Yorubas Started Nollywood, Own It —Aisha Lawal, Actress And Scriptwriter by akpumping7720(m):
Waoooo. Can't believe this post can get to page 20.

I don't think we need all these unnecessary arguements. There are better things we still need to explore.

With my little knowledge in history. In entertainment; yorubas are the pioneers while my Igbo brothers are modifiers.

Pa Awolowo established the first TV station in the whole of West Africa known as WNTV in Ibadan.

I'm not sure most of us are aware that the pioneer of Cable TV in Nigeria is a Northerner. And that was in 1991.

Hubert Ogunde popularised Theater arts in Nigeria.
The "first Nigerian home video" Oorun Moru. It was produced in 1982. And during this era I'm not sure there is any movie or artists from the eastern or northern part of Nigeria like Baba sale, Ogunde, ishow pepper, pa ogunmola etc.
For some of us arguing about nollywood, movies have been produced before that word 'nollywood'.

Living in bondage actually changed the movie industry in Nigeria due to its wide distribution. And that was the point Aisha actually mentioned that the yorubas didn't get it at some point.

To my Igbo brothers like Igbokwe, Lagos prince et al arguing over commercialisation or popularity. This is the point you actually missed which I will explain below:
Now we all agreed that Yorubas pioneer acting in Nigeria. But the igbos commercialised and popularised the movie industry in Nigeria through consistent production and distribution. This is what helped and what helped was 'English Language'. Igbos and sout South dominated the VHS era just as a poster mentioned the three eras of the movie industry in Nigeria.
The pioneers who were yorubas were actually projecting the Yoruba cultures. They told our stories in yorubas even the whites who didn't understand our language then were entertained.

The yorubas couldn't dominate the VHS era due to language barrier. And then yorubas and the few hausas in entertainment back then don't really do it
to get rich but just because they have the passion for it.
In summary , yorubas are the pioneers of the Nigeria movie industry right from the theatre era but the igbos popularise Nollywood in Nigeria and beyond. Even the first movie on Netflix was produced by an Igbo lady.

And currently Yorubas are dominating the movie industry in this era of video streaming.

How do you greet your father's friends? By standing on their heads or by kneeling on their necks?
I can feel the emotions. More like thank you for standing with and believing in me. And I heard from reliable source that BAT has been supporting the family since their father's demise.

The importation of fuel is really the cause of this. We should stop chasing shadows and do the right thing. Refining our crude locally will erode the demand for Forex on importation of fuel. We need more local refineries. Then if you are seeking for foreign education or foreign goods, then you are on your own. But the petroleum which the poor and the rich enjoys should be refined locally in other to save our naira.
