Politics / APC Should Learn From Gej & PDP On How To Organise Rallies And Address Issues. by Aksonman: 7:24pm On Nov 11, 2014
If today's declaration rally in Abuja was an APC affair, here's what we would have had:

- Dino Melaye (former PDP member) will mount podium as MC and waste precious time insulting PDP, Goodluck jonathan and his supporters.

- Gov. Rotimi Amaechi (former PDP governor) will take his own turn to insult the President's wife and his entire village.

- Aminu Tambuwal (FORMER PDP Speaker of house of reps) will appear with his own broom, calling on all Nigerians to vote out the party he claimed to be part of just a few weeks ago.

- Asiwaju, after taking his dosage of anti-parkinsons drug will take advantage of the few minutes of calm his medication offers to swing his broom to the crowd and rain some more insults on GEJ in Yoruba language.

President Goodluck Jonathan all through his declaration speech today did not insult his bitter political rivals in the APC. On the contrary, our President took time out to actually commend Lagos and Rivers (both APC states) on the role they played in tackling Ebola.

Nigeria is blessed to have a President like Goodluck Jonathan and there's nothing APC or Boko Haram can do to dispute this fact.

God bless Nigeria.

This is the true story of things. We all know what IBB represent, no wonder both of them are founding members of PDP. I would have believed Ekweme if he had given tangible explanation as to how $56,000 found its way into his house. That money in today's equivalent is about $56 million or there about. Politics / Re: Why Did Buhari Jail VP Ekuweme But Place President Shagari Under House Arrest? by Aksonman: 10:12am On Nov 11, 2014
yemaldo:
There were dozens of former governors, ministers, business
people of Muslim Hausa-Fulani origin who were similarly jailed
by the Buhari regime. Just a few examples:
1. Umar Dikko, a Muslim Hausa Fulani scion and arguably the
most influential northern politician at the time, was
unprecedentedly pursued up to his UK hiding place, abducted by
the Nigerian security agents, bundled and literally 'boxed' and
almost got smuggled back to Nigeria - to account for his alleged
corruption during the Shagari regime.
2. Isyaku Rabiu, arguably one of the richest ever Hausa Fulani
businessmen, and one of the most highly respected Islamic
scholars as well (he is indeed one of the leading Tijaniyya
Sheikhs in West Africa), was not only thrown to jail at the time
but even got one of his legs reportedly broken by the security
agents in the process of his arrest, probably after his hundreds
of supported tried to prevent him from being arrested.
3. Another super-rich northern businessman in Kaduna, late A
Haruna Dan-ja, also a Muslim Hausa Fulani, was equally
arrested and thrown into jail (both Sheikh Isyaku Rabiu and
Danja were allegedly implicated in corrupt practices that were
considered harmful to the national economy, such as misuse of
import licences, hoarding of essential commodities, etc.).
4. Late Sabo Bakin Zuwa, a former governor of Kano state, was
sentenced to 300 years in jail WITH HARD LABOUR by a Kaduna
military tribunal, after which he was rumoured to have 'begged'
the tribunal for more years, saying that 'mere 300 years' were not
enough! LOL
5. A prominent businessman of Katsina origin, a Hausa-Fulani
Muslim, who had been allegedly aiding and abetting cross-
border smuggling between Nigeria and Niger for many years prior
to the coming of the Buhari regime, and who was so well
connected in the country, had to hide in the ceiling of his house
when security agents swooped his home in the dead hours of the
night; they evacuated all his family members and spent hours
looking for him. He eventually had to run to the Republic of Niger
where he took refuge!
6. A very influential former ambassador of Kaduna state origin, a
Hausa Muslim, is STILL living in the capital of a Western country,
apparently too traumatized and frightened to return to Nigeria,
having been implicated in a massive corruption case back then.
Like in the cases of Southern politicians, almost all of the
northern Hausa-Fulani politicians jailed during Buhari regime
were NEVER FREED until AFTER the Buhari regime was
overthrown. The fugitives among them also never returned until
after the overthrow of the Buhari's government (a few never
returned to date!). Whoever is old, enlightened and honest
enough should know all this, as it was very much a public
knowledge.
In fact, immediately after the ouster of the Buhari regime,
hundreds of friends, relatives and business associates of Sheikh
Isyaku Rabiu trooped to his Kano residence and started frenzied
celebrations and special prayers in anticipation of the release of
their billionaire Sheikh.
What many people in the South do not seem to know is the fact
that the corrupt among the Hausa Fulani Muslim elite hate and
fear a Buhari government as much as the Christian bigots and
tribalists would hate it, but for different reasons. While the latter
group hate Buhari for nothing other than sheer religious bigotry
and incurable tribalism, the former fear the general because they
know very well that it would never be business as usual for them
under a Buhari-led government - being a Muslim and a Hausa-
Fulani would NOT shield anyone of them from being held
accountable!

The question here is about President Shagari and Vice President Ekuweme-why was former placed on house arrest and the later left to rot in prison?

Was any illegal money ever found on Ekuweme as alleged by Buhari and his co travellers?

Publised Jan 21, 1984 Let us analyse this carefullu.

$56, 000 was found in Ekweme's House, an Igbo man he was jailed

$4.5 million was found in Former Civilian Governor Sabo Zuwo House, a Fellow fulani from Kano, he was equally jailed for 300 years.

Please where is the discrepancy??

LOOOOOOOL...YOU AND YOUR LIKES ARE CRIMINALS.

Was Ekuweme ever tried by Buhari's govt?

Didn't a competent legal panel eventually proclaim that VP Ekuweme left politics even poorer and no money was ever found on him?

Since APC fans (like Barcanista) have successfully defended and justified Buhari's imprisonment of the great FELA KUTI, thus I'd like to hear their views on this.

After Buhari's coup in 1984 with 'corruption' given as excuse, EXECUTIVE President Shagari was placed under house arrest-never tried, while 'ordinary' Vice-President Alex Ekuweme was thrown into the harshest part of kirikiri prison.

What was the rationale behind this? If Shagari's governement was corrupt (according to Buhari) why was the principal and head of government (Shagari) not tried, convicted and thrown in jail?

Is this a sign of what to expect if Buhari is sworn in by May 29, 2015, selective justice?

Over to una...

WHAT? Did those APC dudes actually defend Buhari's locking up of Fela on trumped up charges of excess foreign currency possession? Even when it was proven beyond reasonable doubt that the money allegedly found in Fela's possession belong to his entire band of almost 40 people?

I saw that thread on Front page but i never really read any of the comments.

Politics / Lagos State Has Witnessed Backward Development For The Common Man. by Aksonman: 11:43am On Nov 10, 2014
Pre-1999 most houses in Lagos where serviced by pipe borne water supplied by Lagos state Water corporation. As a matter of fact there where public taps located in strategic parts of Lagos, such that houses without water could use such public taps.

Please,I'd like to know what happened to all that? Today, most Lagos houses are serviced by private boreholes. Public taps have been replaced by private charity taps made available (or for sale) by religious organisations in front of their compounds. 'Ab0ki water sellers' can be spotted in almost EVERY PART OF LAGOS STATE, rich or poor areas.

So ,the question is, how has the APC/Fashola administration truly benefited the masses of Lagos?
We all remember General Buba Marwa for introducing Keke as means of transportation for the common man and also for somewhat raising Ajegunle's profile. Over 30 years on, everyone still talks about Lateef Jakande's strides in Lagos for the common man, especially as it relates to housing-Jakande Estates.

What is the Lagos common man going to remember Fashola and APC for? Lekki Toll gate? Lekki bridge? Plants and flowers? Dilapidated BRT buses?

@ OP: Please do not insult our intelligence.

You have listed nothing but a complete rubbish....Jonathan is a president, not a governor or local government chairman. His responsibilities as a president are much more than the cr@p you listed.

Nigerians are sick and tired of settling for rubbish.....All we ask for: is a competent true leader that has what it takes to sincerely tackle corruption from the top to the bottom, implement reliable security and then introduce a better system that embraces discipline. When this takes place in Nigeria everything else will come together.

Mediocrity is created by the notion of good enough will do;what we have at the moment has no clue what leadership is all about..he's simply just another representative of mediocre at its best.

sorry!

@OP doesn't have to insult your intelligence, you clearly don't have any.

1. Those items have never been scarce except when
off-season. Very wrong criteria to judge anytin. A
beta question should be how much do these items
cost now and how much did they cost 5yrs ago
2. I havent noticed any significant improvement in
our railways.....h/e in all fairness i dont live around
any route.
3. The state of the lagos - benin road has never been
a permanent one. There r times in other
administration that the road was as 'ok' as it is
today. However like previous administrations,there
is no guarantee it wld remain the same.
4. Maybe u forget so soon that some locations
experienced fuel scarcity quite recently. However
during the beginning of the present administration
there was indeed a major fuel scarcity nationwide.
5. That I know one person that won the scheme
doesnt change the fact that the scheme itself is
flawed. Do u know how many nigerians are jobless?
That money can be better spent providing the
enabling environment for small businesses to thrive
instead of dashing out huge sums to a few people.
Do note that so many end up using that money to
fund their relocation abroad.....the only 2 persons i
know that won, r presently living in canada. Thanks
to youwin!!!!!
6. Massive reconstruction Very funny! When last
did u travel out thru the lntl airport in lagos? Can u
confidently state that the quality of the airport match
the amount spent on them Do you want to say u
didnt see pix of the massive flooding at enugu intl
airport.....an airport rehabilitated with hundreds of
millions ? Pls stop celebrating mediocrity.
7. Very sad.......is it the number of universities in the
country that is ur concern or the quality of same?
Not surprised tho.....the pattern of ur questions
shows clearly the quality of education u received
from a nigerian federal university
8. Then again......building schs is clearly a selling
point for this administration.
9. If i remb correctly, we had indigeous car
assembly plants in the country long b4 now
(peugeot). The more impt question is- who benefits
from the present policy? Indigenous or foreign car
producers? What value are we getting by their
presence? More employment for locals? Cheaper
cars? Those are the real questions!
10. Dont know about ur end.....but here power is
totally unavailable........except of cuz u hv a power
generating set. Power improved considerably under
Prof Nnaji.....it nosedived after he was forced out....n
further nosedived after the privatization.......even
wen tariffs were raised.
11. Which capacity? By wat indices? Has the pre-
requisites been provided for the manufacturing
sector to thrive
12. Pls say sometin more impt.
13. Have u ever heard of the phrase 'white elephant
project'?? the groundbreaking if u must know was
political. There is no intention to build that
bridge.....it was done to hoodwink the igbos. Note
that this isnt the 1st time such 'intention' has been
raised
14. I don't
15. Yes! BH didnt start with this administration, yet it
got to alarming proportions under this inept
leadership.
.........Wait for my own 15 questions!!!!!

With due respect sir, please read @OP's questions again, slowly this time.
-You must be a dirty liar to claim you haven't noticed consistent improvements in our railways...just to come claim again that u don't live near a railway crossing.
-Most of the fuel scarcities we've had in last 5years have been a result of strikes by unions or oil marketers. OP Acknowledged this point in his question.

Finally, a big SHAME on you for your submissions about Benin-ore road.

datolee:

I really do not understand what you are trying to achieve here.. Barcanista who posted that video saw the flaw in it and refused to use it any further. I know you have made up your mind about Buhari, but please tell Nigerians the truth.

From the video you posted, $50 million was for payment of rescheduled interest... please, since when did payment of interest turn to payment of loan itself? what is $50 million to $15 billion Nigeria was owing at that time?

I had wanted to go into the fall out with IMF, but I will leave it for another time.. Just to give you some review about the IMF loan, SAP and payment of $50 million by Buhari.

You must know that in early 1980's the price of oil failed so low that Nigeria's economy was troubled, Shagari administration had to borrow to finance a lot of project, it get to a point, Nigeria couldn't service those loans, yes they wanted to borrow more money. IMF came up with a plan... "do this if you want more money or you forget about it" This condition was first rejected by Shagari.

When Buhari took over, he was presented with this same problem, so what he did was to use $50million to service the loan, to give the western financiers the impression that Nigeria can manage those, IMF still wasn't convinced and insisted on their conditions. Please skip the video to 2:44 - 2:56 I quote " The main worry for western financiers now is Nigeria's $15 billion worth of external debt, so today's prompt payment of $50 million dollars in rescheduled interest has pleased the city and helped the new regime economic prospect".

Since He cannot borrow from IMF, Buhari turned to the government of Saudi Arabia to borrow $1.8 billion, this loan was blocked by the USA just as they blocked arm purchase by GEJ.

Not knowing what to do, he did turn to Paris club to borrow some money, of course, he had to make some noise that we can service our loans... he ended up spending more money than any other government, servicing loan.

Now three things I must say here,

1. servicing loan is not the same thing as repayment of loans

2. Buhari did not make Nigeria a debt free country

3. By the end of 20 months regime, Nigeria's debt had increased from $15 billion to just under $18 billion

GBAM, Obiageli,u don hear? Will u close this silly thread now?
