EdCure:Beg Oshiomole to stop sponsoring APC's gas pipeline and cable vandals |
EdCure:It has improved in many areas especially in Lagos. |
olatunji21:Improvements in power/light are no longer driven by government but by new owners of privatized electricity companies-thanks to GEJ GEJ till APC fans on this thread start paying their electricity bills |
Safari29:Go and pay your bills. |
hardywaltz:Whenever there's a thread on improved power supply someone from PORT HARCOURT always comes up to say they've not had light for months. Dem swear for una area? ![]() |
jingh:Stop posting trash, Go and pay your electricity bills so they can reconnect you. |
Many Nigerians have experienced improved power supply all through this festive season and this may remain so till after 2015 elections-if APC gas pipeline vandals don't resume their work. ![]() Abi I lie? APC fans, light never improve for una dormot ![]() |
A word to rather Buhari fans comparing Osinbajo's so-called 'grassroot' campaign to what VP Sambo ought to be doing. It's a very foolish comparison for someone to expect the Vice-president of the federal republic to jump into a crowded public place without security details. Osinbajo is an ordinary civilian and it's therefore easier for him to do so...yet he still uses security details Meanwhile, VP Sambo is busy commissioning projects NATIONWIDE while Osinbajo is busy loitering the streets of Lagos. ![]() |

BossAyuk:CHANGE to cattle herding? ![]() |
Someone please tell this Osinbajo guy that 'if' Buhari wins in 2015, cattle herders in Aso Rock gardens will have more powers than the Vice President ![]()

Food for thought.

I'm currently in Ibadan. Every where you go in Ibadan, from Iwo road to Bere to Bodija down to Agbowo, the word on the streets in "A'le dibo fun Gambari, Jona lo ma wole". Ibadan's favourite sons such as entertainer Yinka Ayefele openly campaign for PDP, it's a done deal over here. When people monitor events on the Lagos-based social media by a very vocal, insolent and savvy minority one would think that South-West is Buhari's for the taking. I also have it on good authority that even Lagos is still very much pro-Jonathan, as high as 65%. A united Lagos-PDP may in fact be on the verge of causing a major upset with Jimi Agbaje. I sincerely hope that some APC leaders in the South-West are not taking Buhari on a joy ride, because if they are, Yorubas residing in the North should brace up for revenge attacks (accused of betrayal) when Buhari loses in 2015. A word is enough for the wise. |
emiye:APC benefits politically from any successful Boko Haram attack. True or False? |
eye4eye:Very silly and insolent individual, typical APC |
I bumped into this article of Facebook earlier and I wholly, totally and completely support it. So should you. ![]() 1. Privatization of Electricity sector was first muted in the 90s; other administrations foot dragged because of massive corruption in areas of awarding contracts to cronies to supply electricity equipments, transformers etc. Today, GOODLUCK JONATHAN has privatized the power sector and the new private owners are working round the clock to overhaul this 35-year crippled industry. |
Jimi Agbaje should be very watchful, he must not attend secret meetings alone with APC members offering to help him. The stakes are very high and those that have privatized Lagos are not smiling. Funsho Williams was set to become PDP's first Lagos governor but we know what happened. They took advantage on internal squabbles in PDP, killed Funsho and blame Obanikoro and Ogunlewe for it. Again, Lagosians seeking change must rally round Agbaje and protect him. I don talk my own. |
Unibenstudent:I have no problem against polygamy, so long as the man in question has enough resources to cater for his wives and children. So bros, shey you get money sha? |
gp6liveth:Can a doll chop ur money and run away with another man? NO. |
blemon44:Some say Buhari is Boko Haram o. |
I understand that most of these female bombers use heavy flowing hijabs or gowns to cover suicide vests on their bodies. Perhaps its time to temporarily introduce a new dress code for women in Boko Haram prone areas. Jeans, leggies and tight tops should be a good start. |
adavize:Chadian President is simply doing France's bidding. Boko Haram crisis in the North East has frustrated movement of goods and services from Nigeria into parts of Franco-phone Niger, Chad and Northern Cameroon-hence affected countries will be forced to rely on France or French companies to provide goods and services that Nigeria can no longer provide due to the insurgents. SIMPLE. |
mrvitalis:Yes...are you? |
OP, you and ur fellow APC fans are extra-silly -Same Camerounian army that has NEVER shown videos or pictures of the 'thousands' of Boko Haram members they have arrested or killed? -Same Camerounian army that allowed Boko Haram to kidnap and keep their Deputy Prime minister's wife for months only to have her release just last month or so after paying ransome. You'd recall that the shameless Cameroonians had released a fake statement few days into the deputy PM's wife kidnap claiming their super army had freed her. -Boko Haram is solely interested in destablising NIGERIA that's why they simply receive protection money from Chad, Niger and Cameroon, allowing them to have relative peace. If Boko Haram ever decides to attack Cameroun or Chad in full force they'll overthrow those governments in weeks. -I do admire the Camerounians for supporting their governments media propaganda against BoKo Haram-it works. Unlike in Nigeria where even positive verifiable stories from our government in the fight against Boko Haram is countered and denied by members and supporters of the Nigerian opposition. SHAMEFUL! |
APC turned 'constitutional morality' upside down and pushed forward its own recently decamped Speaker to continue leading a House of Reps dominated by the PDP. Our constitution may not have been clear on this but it's a globally acceptable legislative norm that a political party with majority seats provides the leadership of the house. The PDP has retaliated by also insisting on implementing Section 68 of the Nigerian constitution to the latter by any means necessary. Sympathizers of the APC have cried the loudest. Those who know GEJ well enough should realize that he can be very humble ,yet hot-headed and ALWAYS gets what he wants. During the 2012 subsidy protests some Nigerians teleguided by the opposition fooled themselves with protest rallies at Ojota,at the end of it all, GEJ got what he really wanted-he increased petrol from N65 to N97. One of GEJ's strategies has always been to de-mystify the charismatic aura surrounding his opponents and make them look VERY ordinary. Go ask Emir Sanusi- when he emerged Emir, many APC fans on NAIRALAND were in a state of f00lish euphoria, insisting that GEJ will 'bow' to Sanusi. Today, the Emir of Kano has humbly made peace with GEJ, visiting Aso rock twice. To showcase how much Emir Sanusi has been belittled, even the APC Governor of Kano came out to tell the world that he SENT & PERMITTED (a whole) Emir of Kano's visit to make peace with GEJ. Same fate awaits Tambuwal as he has already been reduced to a fence jumping fugitive. How long will his supporters in the house continue to back him? Come December 3rd when the House of Reps reconvenes, more policemen and even soldiers will be there waiting for Tambuwal and his crew. At the end of it all, Tambuwal's own constituency and supporters are the ones that will force him to resign in the interest of peace. Again, issues of Boko Haram has hardened GEJ and all the noise made by Tambuwal and his crew may not move him one bit. GEJ is good at sitting back and watching those that have started a serious fire, put it out themselves. As far as the current crisis rocking the House of Reps is concerned, the APC and Tambuwal started this fire and must be held TOTALLY responsible for whatever outcome it produces. Source: My opinion |

http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/nov/19/turn-down-band-aid-bob-geldof-africa-fuse-odg?commentpage=1 Why I had to turn down Band Aid-FuseODG Saying no to Bob Geldof is one of the hardest decisions I have had to make this year. However, seeing what looked like the corpse of an African woman being carried out of her home on primetime TV when the video was premiered on X Factor crystallised my concerns about this strategy to combat the Ebola crisis. For me it is ultimately flawed. A week before the recording of Band Aid 30, I received a call from Geldof asking if I would take part. I was honoured to be asked and, connecting with his passion for wanting to tackle the Ebola crisis, said I wanted to offer my support. But I also had my concerns. I was sceptical because of the lyrics and the videos of the previous charity singles, and I worried that this would play into the constant negative portrayal of the continent of Africa in the west. Geldof and I spoke at length about this and he agreed with me on many levels, assuring me that we could use it as an opportunity to showcase the positives of Africa. However, on receiving the proposed lyrics on Thursday – two days before the recording was due to take place in London – I was shocked and appalled by their content. The message of the Band Aid 30 song absolutely did not reflect what Africa is truly about and I started to question whether this was something I wanted to be a part of. I pointed out to Geldof the lyrics I did not agree with, such as the lines “Where a kiss of love can kill you and there’s death in every tear”, and “There is no peace and joy in west Africa this Christmas”. For the past four years I have gone to Ghana at Christmas for the sole purpose of peace and joy. So for me to sing these lyrics would simply be a lie. In truth, my objection to the project goes beyond the offensive lyrics. I, like many others, am sick of the whole concept of Africa – a resource-rich continent with unbridled potential – always being seen as diseased, infested and poverty-stricken. In fact, seven out of 10 of the world’s fastest growing economies are in Africa. Let me be clear, I’m not disregarding the fact that Ebola is happening and that people need help. Since the start of the outbreak in March it has killed more than 5,000 people. But every human being deserves dignity in their suffering and the images flashed on our screens remove any remnants of this from Ebola sufferers, many in their dying moments, when they should have it the most. I am not disputing Band Aid’s good intentions. But the shock-factor strategy they have used since the 1980s has sparked a whole wave of “good cause” organisations that have been irresponsible with regard to the images shown to the rest of the world. It’s been totally one-sided. That’s understandable in part, as they wouldn’t raise much money if they showed the affluence, wealth, and happy lifestyles that exist in the continent. But in the process of doing all this “good work” a huge imbalance has been created. That image of poverty and famine is extremely powerful psychologically. With decades of such imagery being pumped out, the average westerner is likely to donate £2 a month or buy a charity single that gives them a nice warm fuzzy feeling; but they are much less likely to want to go on holiday to, or invest in, Africa. If you are reading this and haven’t been to Africa, ask yourself why. This is New Africa (Tina) is a movement empowering people to shed a positive light on Africa. I was born in Tooting, south London, and was taken as an infant to Ghana. Returning to London at the age of 11, being African was not something to be proud of because of all the negative connotations it conjured up, and it drove me to be almost ashamed of who I was. Anyone who has experienced Africa in a positive way is a citizen of the New Africa and needs to play their part in challenging perceptions. I’m sharing my experience through my music – and if I can make chart-topping music that celebrates Africa then surely Band Aid and its extensive network can do the same. I’ve performed in two of the three countries currently hit by the Ebola crisis, where I have friends and loyal fans, and will be donating the proceeds from my next single to help tackle this issue. I hope from the bottom of my heart that the disease can be eradicated in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea. But though shock tactics and negative images may raise money in the short term, the long-term damage will take far longer to heal. |
It seems the myth behind Tambuwal has been demystified. Tambuwal was sent on a roller coaster ride to test his popularity by suggesting his Presidential ambition. But the facts on ground reveals that Tambuwal has lost so much relevance and word has it that some Buhari loyalists in the House of Reps may join hands in impeaching the embattled speaker for daring to contemplate running against the General. Word from Sokoto suggests that Tambuwal is not even popular in his own local government area. Is this the end of an era? |
