Politics / LIARS: Nursing Mothers Did Not Present Their Babies To Buhari? by Aksonman: 4:35pm On Jan 10, 2015 |
I saw the front page thread showing TWIN babies being presented to Buhari and some APC fans twisted it and it made NL front page? As a matter of fact, there was no NURSING MOTHER in sight. This is very ridiculous to say the least and a shameful support of propaganda by Nairaland. I was hoping to see a line of Nursing mothers and a bunch of babies, not siblings (twins or triplets) being presented to Buhari. Please Nairalanders check this front page link and tell me how many nursing mothers and babies are seen in these pictures. https://www.nairaland.com/2086015/nursing-mothers-bring-babies-greet 3 Likes |

APC must be very confused by now not knowing where Obasanjo stands with GEJ. One thing is certain though, Obasanjo always has a way of associating with the winning team at every point in Nigeria's history. 9 Likes 1 Share |
Politics / Re: Economic Truth About Why Jonathan Queued For Milk In 1983!! by Aksonman: 11:44am On Jan 09, 2015 |
Again, APC/Buhari fans are opening threads that are further sinking any chance of GMB's election. The queues in Buhari's era was caused by ESSENCO, an extremely foolish economic idea initiated by the dumb General to control and fix prices of basic commodities. Sending soldiers into markets to break locks and force business men and women to sell at government fixed prices. Naturally, goods disappeared from the shelves, and a black market for ordinary items such as soap and toothpaste emerged. This is the ALMAJIRI ECONOMICS that Buhari wants to re-introduce in the 21st century Nigeria, with promises like offering free food and N5k a month to poor people without any mention of a National Identification policy or income data base that will help govt know who is poor and who is not. Rubbish. 11 Likes 1 Share |

Politics / ESSENCO: Buhari's Failed Commodity Price Control Scheme. by Aksonman: 7:42pm On Jan 08, 2015 |
Most young Buhari fans on the social media have probably never heard of Essenco (Essential commodities policy)-unfortunately,if they ask their pro-APC parents, the truth will never be told to them. In order to stem hyper-inflation between 1983-1985, Buhari's military govt initiated a price control mechanism Nigerians got to know as Essenco. Soldiers were drafted to major commodity markets across Nigeria to enforce government fixed prices for basic provisions i.e bread, sugar, soap, tooth paste etc. This led to unprecedented long queues in most major provisions markets across Nigeria. Also, there were limits to the quantity of provisions an individual could buy. The programme led to an initial sharp drop in commodity prices but in coming weeks basic provisions began to disappear from most stores. Endless queues for bread, toothpaste, milk, etc emerged. As expected, a black market industry thrived where same goods became bountiful at exorbitant prices. Also most black market operators happened to be closely related to some military figures. Some people say this led to the birth of Mammy markets in Nigerian military barracks (though I'm not sure) This was one of the many failed economic policies that led to Buhari being overthrown. Babangida after his coup immediately reversed the Essenco policy and food stuffs once again flooded Nigerian markets at competitive prices.
