Jobs/Vacancies / Karrox Nigeria Vacancies And Certifications Training by aktunde(m): 2:09pm On Jan 24, 2009
Does any one have more information about Karrox Nigeria? Has anyone in the house worked or trained at this ICT company before? What is the experience while working there? I mean the staff welfare and the remuneration? What is the experience, while training for certifications there?
Politics / Re: Soludo: Obama’s Energy Policy, Threat To Nigeria by aktunde(m): 3:12pm On Jan 23, 2009
I feel it's high time Nigeria considerd agriculture as an alternative source of foreign revenue. I just don't know why our leaders know what is right, yet they refuse to do it. Right from secondary school (O, level economics, Agric science) up to tertiary institutions, we have been taught topics like "ECONOMIC IMPORTANCE OF AGRICULTURE TO NIGERIA". Almost in every text book, agriculture is identified as a great source of foreign revenue. I believe every Nigerian that attends at least secondary school should have seen this or heard about this topic before. Most times, W.A.E.C often asks questions from this topic in O'level economics, and Agric science.

My questions are these.

(1) I know of some teachers, lectures and professors, who have taught this topic, before becoming politicians. Some are fortunate to become senators, ministers and special advisers on economic matters. On getting to power, why are these same people who have taught us this topic, not implementing what they taught us? Why have they been deceiving Nigerian students? If they are sure they have not been deceiving Nigerian students, then why can't they do what they taught while in the class room or lecture room? Why are they teaching what they have not been implementing or what cannot be implemented at all? I am sure at one point or the other, these leaders while still teaching, might have spanked or failed their students for not performing well on this topic, during test. God will punish all those who failed or spanked their students, yet fail to do what they teach the students.

(2) I also understand that there are some of our leaders who might not have teaching or lecturing experience in this topic before. I understand that most of them are business men or former military officers . However, this does not exempt them from knowing what is right. Is it that all those leaders in this category have not attended at least secondary school before? Haven't they been taught or heard before? If they have been taught or heard before; why are they refusing to implement those things they have learnt? For those leaders who want to claim not to have been taught or heard before, how did they pass their O'level? There is no doubt that many of them (the past military ones especially) might have passed through "expo" or "Orijo".

(3) My question to the ministry of education is this. Is it proper to teach topics that cannot be implemented in Nigeria? Why should they be teaching us that Agriculture is a foreign revenue earner, when it is not been complimented in Nigeria?

Back to the Issue on Obama's Policy

God will bless that man abundantly. If his policy on Energy is what would force Nigeria to consider other source of foreign revenue, it think the policy is a good one. So many home owners might still be tenants today. many were forced to own their homes, through the attitudes of their landlords. In the long run, isn't that good for the tenant? This parable also applies to Nigeria. I am not disturbed by Obama's Policy. I also don't think our leaders should be disturbed. Rather, they should see it as an eye opener, to consider alternative source of revenue. U.S has her plans about energy. Why not develop our own plans too? instead of  being worried about someone else' plan.

My Opinion about the way out

Let Nigeria consider agriculture. When I mean agriculture, I mean commercial one. Cash crop farming to be precise. This is the aspect of Agriculture which in my own opinion, can compete well it crude oil. I am not talking about the type of agriculture our former president expects from Nigerian youths. He expected a jobless youth to go back to the village, and continue from where his grandparents stop. His grandparents that have been on the farm for decades, and could not even afford to buy more than a bicycle. Their grandparents are poor, because their type of farming is for their subsistence alone. The few educated farmers who would have loved to practice large scale farming could not get the finance. They couldn't get loan, because they've got no collateral. Since it's obvious that a jobless youth cannot practice cash crop farming, let the government and corporate bodies who have the money step in.

Billions of Naira and Dollars have been invested into the telecommunication, banking and oil sectors. Most of these investors are corporate bodies. These corporate bodies with the funds, should invest into agriculture. I believe they can do it better. They have the fund, and can afford to hire both skilled and unskilled farm workers. Nigeria has the land, the weather, the human resources and the seeds. let all these be utilized. Let Nigeria stop practicing agriculture in papers. Let Nigeria Government and corporate bodies take this up, and practice it live. If Nigeria has enough of revenue from other sectors of the economy, then we can say "to hell with Obama's Policy on energy". Who knows if one day, Nigeria would be so great that Crude oil would be so insignificant, among Nigeria's sources of foreign revenue?

@Poster

why are you putting the cart before the horse? You ought to have researched about the legitimacy of the school, before you apply at first. You applied, got an offer letter or admission letter, you were asked to pay, and you start nursing fear. I want to believe that it is not the legitimacy of the school that is causing your fear. I think it's the fee involved. If not, are you also afraid using google? Google it man!

Thanks for your comments about my post. I was only trying to end the controversy, by bringing in something else. If it continues this way, people might be misinformed. The unemployed may keep crying. We do not want them to go to the high way with guns. Do we? That is why I brought in the Zimbabwe issue. But I am not as serious as you think about Zimbabwe. Just a joke, to end the controversy about the highest paying bank.

From your comment to me, I am glad. Because, I got the kind of response I want. Have a great day.

Enough of this millions stuff. Honestly, you guys would kill the unemployed. By the way, what is the big deal about the millions you are all talking about? After all, in Zimbabwe, a family of 6, can finish a loaf of bread which cost 50 million Zimbabwean dollars. My friend, drop that calculator! Who is talking about exchange rate here? We are talking about MILLIONS and not exchange rate grin

Seriously, we should acknowledge the fact that the unemployed Nigerians read this thread. Please if you are earning millions, keep this to yourself. We do not need to make the unemployed feel sad. Cheers smiley

Fellow nairalanders. I found out that some of my post have been moved. It's true that some post often have links to other websites. In my own opinion, as long as the websites do not have FORUMS which tend to compete with nairaland, I see no reason why such posts should be moved. Once your service is good, it will always be good. Nothing can stop nairalanders from coming back, even if they visit another 1 million websites.

I think my recent post about "Tips For Passing The 2009 Standard Chartered Bank Test" can be helpful to all unemployed users of nairaland. Therefor, if other posts are moved, let this not be moved. It can be of great help. Bye

Jobs/Vacancies / Tips For Passing The 2009 Standard Chartered Bank Test. by aktunde(m): 12:32am On Dec 11, 2008
December 9, 2008 was an exciting day for my younger brother, as he rushed to me, and requested to use my laptop. He told me Standard chartered bank is recruiting for its 2009 graduate program. Since I have always wanted him to get his dream job, I had no other choice than to abandon the important things I was doing on the computer, to allow him to submit his application.

He was so excite do fill the form. I was with him, so I ensured he didn’t commit any mistake. Even though he is a polytechnic graduate, he was so excited to have the opportunity of submitting his application. His excitement got to the peak, when he took and passed the online assessment test, right in my presence.

After passing the online assessment test, he had 2 more hurdles to cross. The numerical testing and some other simple questions. This was supposed to take him a total of 35 minutes. The numerical test would be done for 21 minutes, while the other question (typed answer series) would take the rest of the time. He was given an option of taking some practice numerical tests, before taking the real test. I advised him to take the practice test first, before taking the real test.

He came back two hours later, to take the practice test. It was 8 questions. He was advised to take the practice test for 8 minutes even though he would not be timed. But in the real test, he would have to answer 21 questions, in 21 minutes. He would be timed, in the real test.

I allowed him to take the practice test. In his first attempt, he got five questions right and 3 questions wrong. To me, it was a good attempt, by a first timer. He was also very happy, because he was too optimistic that he would pass the real test. He did the test again, and still scored five question right, and three wrong. He took it over and over, and the highest he could get right was 6. He missed two. This was the point where I chose to join him, and helped him with the 2 he usually missed. We took our time, and we solved the two difficult question. He had to take the practice test again, and he solved the 8 question, and got them all right, in less than five minutes. At this point, my younger brother was on top of the world feeling too happy. He was set for the real test.

He eventually started the real test. In the first 9 minutes, he had already answered 12 questions correctly. They were just like the practice test, except for changes in the figures. I could see the excitement in his face. He was getting the questions right. I didn’t tell him the answer, but I am sure that the answers he was choosing were what I would have chosen. We did our different workings, but kept getting the same answer. You need to see how the young boy was really feeling like.

Dear reader, the brightness in the face of my younger, suddenly became dark. His joy and hope became dashed. You know why? As he was attempting the 13th question, the almighty N.E.P.A (PHCN) struck. They took the light? He became disorganised and restless. I encourage him to keep working, while I go for the generator. The laptop was obviously working, but contrary to our expectation, out internet modem also went off. The generator took time to start. Before we could get everything working again, my brother just had 2 minutes to go. I asked him to spend the two minutes answering at least, 3 questions. Unfortunately, he couldn’t again. He was just crying like a baby. That was how the hope of a young lad, who had already been on top of the world got dashed. He was very sorrowful, and regretted being born in a country with unreliable power supply. He did just 12 questions in 21. We did not need to be told, before we knew that he would not be able to go further in the recruitment process again. He didn’t fail because he is not getting the questions right. He failed because he couldn’t just do more than 12, because of a situation (Power) which was beyond his control.

Dear reader, are you interested in applying for the standard chartered bank 2009 graduate program? It’s a good idea. But I must tell you, don’t take it lightly. It’s more than you think. It could be comparable to going to the lion’s den. My brother has taken the test, but failed almost in the final stage. The fact that my brother failed, doesn’t mean I shouldn’t help others. In fact, his failure is an avenue for me to help others. If my brother doesn’t get it, I wish someone else gets it. I was with him while he took and passed the online assessment test. I also witnessed how he took and failed the numerical test, which was almost the final test. I saw all the questions, and I want to use these as basis for giving you tips about how they look like, and how you can pass them.

To discover the tips, please Click here .

I wish you all success.

Romance / Bad Men To Avoid When Dating by aktunde(m): 3:54pm On Dec 08, 2008
Women always say, “I didn’t know he was like that” when their boyfriends perform acts that cause everyone around them shame. In some cases they really weren’t aware of the boyfriend’s mischievous deeds, but in other cases women knew well in advance they just hoped he would stop.

Most women are not stupid, gullible, dumb, or any other name critics choose to call them for the selections in men they make. For some, they truly had no idea their boyfriend meant bad news for them. The ever-popular question of, “Why did she get herself involved with him anyway?” continues to loom over their heads and the reasons vary depending on whom you ask. Some women may have found out about their problem boyfriend and stayed because of love, status, money and/or power. Others may have stayed because they didn’t want to carry the guilt of leaving their children’s father over issues they feel could be resolved. Still many women feel they can change him. As long as women continue to believe that the power of sex, money, counseling, personal sacrifice or a host of other strategies to change a bad man will work, they will continue to subject themselves to mental and physical abuse. These strategies simply will never work for some men. There comes a time when women will have to get off their knees whether she is praying to God or pleading to her mate to change. She will have to stand up carrying her self-respect in hand and walk right through the door of “end the relationship now.”
The following advice is written for women who haven’t yet made a commitment or a baby with a “bad boy.” Click here for the advice.

Jobs/Vacancies / A New Job Interview by aktunde(m): 7:19pm On Nov 10, 2008
I have been invited for an interview. It was stated that applicants must not exceed the age of 26. I am 28. Should I disclose my actual age to the interviewers? Should I lie to them that I am 26; is there a way they could find out? What if I get a new declaration of age which says I am 26 before the interview date. Is that ok?

Please I need your advice. Should I remain honest by telling them I am 28, and remain unemployed? or should I work on my age, and stand a better chance of getting the job?

I need your reply please
