Travel / Re: Help! Friends, Family & Former School Mates From Nig Are Killing Me With Demands by aktunde(m): 5:44pm On Jul 09, 2015
I simply believe this OP is seeking attention, and ironically he got it even though some of us knew that. Otherwise, I never imagined that a post like this could hit up to 14 pages.

That being said, I have these conclusion about the OP.

1. He may be truly getting a high demand because once you step out of Nigeria, it's bound to happen.
2. He may be better off than an average hustler in US (which I really doubt), but he added spices to his story so we can visualize his achievements hence the reasons for the demands.
3. I'm even suspecting he may not have lived in the US long enough because things like these get worse when you recently come into the country. If he has been in the US long enough, he would have devised is strategy long ago, and known how to handle it by now.

About social network.
I don't think social network is the problem but how it's being used. What do you expect when you pose in front of a Range Rover spot that doesn't belong to you and type "thank God" and then upload it on Facebook? And when people think it's yours, you do not disclaim it. You just live it up? What do you expect when you flaunt your house or cars (which are mostly acquired on credit) which is even a big liability on your neck and people back home think it's an asset? Leaving social will not solve the problem but the impression you leave online is what matters.

I used to be addicted to social network until I changed the habit. I didn't leave because of friends back home. Matter of fact I kept that because I want to remain connected with them. I simply can't give what I don't have period. When an old friend comes up and says hi, my first reply is "Bros this one wey you hola me so, anything for me. It looks like you are God sent o" that thing weakens what ever intention he has. Most people in Nigeria know I came to us as a student and even when my status has changed, as far as they are concenrned I am still studying, and will continue to study. No need updating what you have achieved on social network.

Chikena.

@OP
I think you have provided too much information just to ask a simple question and that has broken the credibility of your story. Now I don't know if you really need help or if you just want to show off. Why tell us about your degree, cars, even salary just to prove a point? Are all these necessary? I'm in same shoes, I get such demands and I deal with it without being unnecessarily lousy. Common man!

Travel / Ebola Vs US Visa by aktunde(m): 3:11am On Oct 17, 2014
News about Ebola has dominated the news on US TV Networks. Some people are advocating that rather than banning flights from West Africa, the U.S should stop granting Non-Immigrant Visas (student visa, tourist, business e.t.c) at this time. This is not a confirmed policy. It's just the opinion many Americans while granting interviews on the TV. I'm thinking of inviting my Mom to the US, but I'm not sure of what the situation is. I have paid the Visa fees, but I just don't know if I should book the appointment now or wait for some time. My question is this;

Has any one gone to the US embassy of recent (this week)? Did you get the visa? I'm very particular about the Tourist/Business Visa. Thanks as you respond.
Health / Re: 10 Signs to know that Death Is Near by aktunde(m): 10:52pm On Jun 11, 2013
Poster, please stop scaring the hell out of people with these. These are not dieying symptoms. These are just signs that someone is sick. I have had at least 6 of these symptoms at the same time, and I am still bouncing. That is over 10 years ago. Meanwhile, some people did not have any of these yet they just couldn't wake up from their sleep the next morning. Sickness has symptoms, but death has no symptom. People die anyday, anytime and any how, with or without no symptoms. That is life for you.

Please go to school, you cant lose with a MSc. I did the same 5 years ago and today i am on top of the food chain in the bank i now work with

Did your uncle sponsor you through school? Please tell him how you made it. My major concern for him is to come here hoping his uncle will sponsor him. I do not know how close he is with his uncle. But this guy stated that his uncle is a medical doctor (salary earner). The U.S embassy will gladly give you F1 visa if you tell them that a rich illiterate uncle (who owns his own business) in Nigeria is sponsoring you than telling them a medical doctor in US is sponsoring you. They understand their country better than you. They do not see how someone earning salary can spend up to 50k dollars (on average) for the completion of your masters. That is why they often deny U.S based relatives sponsorship. I am not sure the poster knows that many doctors here have been paying school loans for the past 20 years. You think say na yam? I still consider doctors as middle class people in the US. So, don't let all those efizzy (during a trip to naija) deceive you.

If your biological parents are rich and wiling to sponsor you, or you have a full funded scholarship, or you have your own personal money that can last you for at least a year, I would have advised you to dump diamond bank. But your Uncle's sponsorship is my major concern. That is why I feel the Bank offer is better at least for now. I just hope you will not become a baby sitter for that uncle, by the time you realize he/you can't afford the tuition and you eventually drop out and become illegal. Don't come to the U.S based on promises. Come based on what you want in life, and how you can achieve it yourself. If your life must be in the hands of man, let it be in your own hand, and not your uncle's. I warn you oo!!...ok!

I beg my brother take that job. Not taking the job may be one of the greatest mistake you will ever make in your entire life. I don't mean to be harsh, but that is the truth. Think of how you would feel in the following scenarios.

1. You reject the job offer, but you were denied the U.S Visa (Remember that F-1 Visa is not automatic even if admitted to Harvard Business School). In this case, you have lost in two places. First the job, second the trip to U.S

2. You get to the U.S and you realize that your uncle cannot afford your tuition as you expect. Would your heart not be broken to see his own children going to school with financial aid or with student loan?

3. You get to the U.S, and you realize you cannot work else where except on campus (20 hrs/week, usually less than $10/hr). By the time uncle sam collects his money (tax), and you pay your phone bill, you are broke almost immediately.

4. You manage to graduate eventually, and you still cannot land a job on time because of lack of experience from your home country or within the U.S. Then, that same uncle asks you to go back to school again to take nursing classes so as to maintain your student status (If you have not adjusted through marriage). Sadly, your struggle continues again.

I don't mean to discourage you. But I am just trying to open your eyes to what your uncle might not have told you before. It's hard so see generous uncles like that in U.S (The one who will not mind spending over over 20K dollars on the education of another man's son). O boy shine eyes ooo!!!

(1) Their are about 73 DIFFERENT languages in Taraba state alone,48 in Plateau,60 in Bauchi,58 in Adamawa,57 in Kaduna,38 in Niger,29 in Nasarawa and 28 in Borno.

(2) Apart from Sokoto and Zamfara state, EVERY other state in the north has indigenous Christian population.

(3) Except Benue, kogi, plateau,Niger and Borno, the remaining 14 state's heads of traditional councils are all Fulanis.

(4) The sultan of sokoto is the only traditional leader that occupy's the highest number of offices in Nigeria:head of sokoto state traditional council, head of northern traditional council, chairman of the traditional council of Nigeria, head of Nigeria's muslim umma(congregation) and co-chairman of Nigeria's interfaith council. He also functions in various offices common with Nigerian traditional and religious leaders.

(5) A traditional Tiv man allows his "special" visitor or relation to make love to his wife.

(6) After "sekin uku",i.e third divorce,a northern muslim can remarry his divorced wife only if she (a) marry's another man,(b)Be Intimate with him atleast once and (c)get a divorce from that man.

(7) Boko haram was founded and being run by Kanuris (not Hausa/Fulanis)

I wish I belong to that Tiv tribe. I will always be the visitor. By the time I visit the houses of all the men with pretty wives, I will take my own and move out of that crazy community. No one will ever pay me a visit. I will ensure that I invest in wild dogs. Visit me at your own risk

Romance / Re: My Boyfriend Is Married In Nigeria! by aktunde(m): 4:24am On Dec 26, 2012
Stop blaming her for the 11 years she has been in the relationship. The culture in Africa is far different from the one in U.S.A. I have seen lots of lovers in the U.S who eventually got married after dating for 15 years. Do you know how long Prince Williams dated Kate before they get married? So the length of their relationship is actually not a big deal as most Nigerian ladies will see it. Meanwhile, others get married after dating for less than one month. Some African americans and white ladies are not family oriented like core african ladies. It is therefor possible for an african american or white lady to date a guy for that long without knowing so much about his family or life in Nigeria. This is because most of these ladies are not family oriented. They care so much about the guy they are dating and care less about his family or past in Nigeria. I am not saying it is wise of her not to know much about this guy. Unfortunately, she is paying the price now. You can give her suggestions, but blaming her for everything is not what she is expecting.

Romance / Define The Word Sexy by aktunde(m): 6:49pm On Nov 17, 2012
It baffles me with the kinds of deep feelings some ladies attach to that word (sexy). Not all, but I assume most ladies melt at the hearing of that word from a cute guy. I have seen some ugly looking ladies with very low self esteem, suddenly getting a boost in their esteem as soon as someone tells them they are sexy or they look sexy. Then, I keep wondering if that words mean something different from what it's supposed to mean. In my own one word definition, sexy means drill-able*. My dictionary also explains the word to mean an adjective to describe a sexually appealing person or thing. So, why should some ladies be so excited with a word that identifies them to be an attractive sex object? Isn't it supposed to be an insult? Why do some blush at that word? If you think my definition is wrong, then what is your own definition?

Mine in one word is = drill-able
Mine in a sentence is = " I find you attractive to drill.

And when I say drill, I don't mean bore hole. I mean the "f" word. You know what I mean?... wink wink wink

so, What is your definition of sexy in one word? And why do you think most ladies feel happy with that adjective?

The idea is to make money smuggling easy for them. They do not need ghana must go bags to steal public funds. They can just put N1m in their back pockets or agbada and move on like that. They are clamoring for cashless econonomy, yet they are putting N5000 on a single paper. Does this make any sense?

That is it o, this country is really in a mess, initially it was N1.5m starting just for vice chancellors, they claim that their position is a political one of a single 5 year term and this is for mostly federal universities. When they are leaving after 5 years they go with about 3 brand new cars 1 of which is a Toyota jeep. The thing reach to shout, was is not last year the son of a ex state VC right here on our campus arranged for his own kidnapping simply to force his father now no longer a VC but a normal professor to send him abroad. You need to see this guys leaving so large with their immediate family members who they remove from the university where they were students and pronto send them abroad.

Our former VC has built a big water factory in a neighboring community with all the largesse he accumulated during his tenure, of his 4 children its only 1 that just refused to go abroad preferring as Moses to suffer with his fellow Israelite not minding that he is a prince in Egypt.

Politics / Re: ESUT VC : Ransom Demand Of N200M by aktunde(m): 2:46pm On Aug 18, 2012
@ otokx

Since the position of University vice chancellors were politicized and their salaries escalated from that of normal professors who earn about 500k monthly to about N4m with so many perks including police escorts and siren they started attracting the attention of kidnappers, both they and their immediate members of their families. Yes kidnapping is bad and we all condemn it but this action of the vice chancellors in securing a unique package for themselves is equally as bad.

Please I am lost here. DO VCs now earn up to N4m per month in Nigeria?

I still need deliverance in this area. Since my Mom stopped bearing children like 25 years ago, I resorted to powdered milk. And I am still addicted to that. Till date, I always finish 5 tins of peak (powdered milk) before I finish one tin of bournvita or any other cocoa beverage. More than 80% of the time, I eat the powdered milk (in dry form), than mixing it with other beverages to prepare tea. I need deliverance please!!! My babe don complain tire.. cheesy cheesy

But I once read it on an interview when Oyedepo admitted he slapped the girl, and that he would slap her/other witches over and over again. So, why is the judge now saying that the slapping never happened? first, I think the Lawyer has evidences, but he is not prepared enough with it. Second, I am not sure he met the girl in person, hence the lawyer is expected to know her real name. And the girl is not considered a human being because the lawyer has no name for her. I guess all he has is that video on youtube, which he cannot download and save. And you know Nigeria is still backwards technologically. If the court room is installed with wifi, it shouldnt cost the lawyer much to pull up his IPAD (if he has one), logon to youtube and play the video. Even if he cannot establish the identity of the girl, he could have establish that Oyedepo indeed slapped somebody. But where we wan see wifi for court house?

I am sure the judge knows Oyedepo slapped somebody. I am sure the judge would have watched the video himself. He only capitalized on the weakness of the Lawyer, and his unpreparedness, some loop holes in the story and deprive the little girl of justice. My conclusion of Nigeria is that, justice is only for the rich with or without evidence. Chikena!!

People I have met
1. Clarus and giringory (of new masquerade)
2. Natty (Also in the New Masquerade)
3. Baba suwe
4. Baba latin
5. Luku-luku
6. Dejo
7. Tunfulu
8. Ibu (john Okafor)
9. Opebe
10. Voltron
11. Super-Ted
12. Spider Man
13. Danger mouse
14. Sani Abacha (he still spoke with me last night)

Abi all these people no be celerity?

My observations about them

number 1 - 9 on the list is that these people are too handsome. They are ladys' men. Look at the way babes are struggling just to get autographs. While dinning with Voltron (10 on the list), I asked if he could help us tackle boko haram problem. He said unfortunately no, because he is no more the defender of the universe, and that is why I do not see him on TV again. Matter of fact, he said he had been looking for one of the five lions who came to Nigeria and was kidnapped by my guys in ND. In a night club where I met super Ted (11 on the list) he expressed his dissatisfaction over how he came to Unilag and he saw ladies close to 30 years old having several teddy bears on their bed. He said those teddy bears are so big that he (super Ted) felt intimidated. Bad enough, those ladies did not even recognize him. I felt sorry for him super Ted. Spider man (12 on the list) snobbed me all through. I don't know why. As for danger mouse, we met at DC. He is now broke, but very friendly. He told me he got bankrupt because of speeding tickets because according to him, he has paid close to 10 million dollars in speeding ticket from the early 1980s till date. Abacha (14 on the list). He appears very gentle now. While talking over the phone, he said he know he would be going to hell fire, and he know there is no food there. So, he told me he still found his way of stealing some yams into hell. He was asking if I could get someone to help him bring palm oyel which he can use to eat the yams he roasted with the heat in hell fire, and some fura denunu to step it down. I think his credit finished along the line as I got disconnected all of a sudden.

Those are the great celebrities I have met. I am looking forward to seeing more thou
