Politics / Re: Pro-jonathan Elements Behind Renewed Agitation For Biafra - Senator Sani by AkwaIbomrep1: 5:18pm On Nov 03, 2015
TheImp:
The senator representing Kaduna North Senatorial zone, Kaduna state, Senator Shehu Sani, at the weekend alleged that the new  agitation for the sovereign state of Biafra was being sponsored by pro-Jonathan forces who lost the 2015 general elections.

According to him, their aim is to destroy the administration of President Mohammadu Buhari by igniting a national conflict , chaos and confusion in the country.

Sani, who spoke on Sunday when a youth group from  southern  Kaduna paid him a courtesy call in his office in Kaduna, described the renewed agitation for Biafra as misguided and ill conceived.

"The Biafra agitation is a new attempt to destroy the Mohammadu Buhari administration and to ignite a national conflict and cause chaos, pandemonium , confusion in the country.

"I  see it as a plan B action of the pro-Jonathan forces who lost election in the 2015 national elections. I will also say that the agitation is not reflective of the generality of the interest of the Igbo people of the south-east," Sani said.

According to him, since after the Nigerian civil war which ended in 1970, the Igbos  have made tremendous progress in business, entrepreneurship, academics, politics and very sphere of life, stressing that their future is better guaranteed and sustained within a united Nigeria.

Yes, Ikot Abasi is oil producing, but without Ibeno, Obolo and Oron, Akwa Ibom wont be a major oil producing state.

Take a look at a picture showing the locations of Nigeria oil wealth, both onshore and offshore.
Notice that Akwa-ibom has next to nothing onshore production. And that like 90% of its offshore oil fields are located offshore of Ibeno Obolo and Mbo( Oron).

Ndiigbo have never been bad neighbors to Ibibio- Annang- Efik people, why you would seek to start painting Ndiigbo in badlight, over comments made by an Urhobo man is beyond me.

You went far over the Line to bring Ndiigbo into a thread that had nothing to do with us, and then denigrate us, and caused some Igbos here to react in negative manner, it's too bad of you.
I want to sincerely apologize for onbehalf of my ppl (Akwa ibomites) on this thread for trying to create jinx btw Akwa ibom & our s/east brothers on this peaceful and educative thread I guess it was due to the first comment by the urhobo man on this thread which one of us misconstrued & thought was a s/easterner , therefore, I apologise on their behalf ..... Lol. It is funny that a people whose only national relevance, before the exploration of crude oil, was exporting illiterate houseboys and house girls could even dream of throwing shades towards the Igbos.

Even an intelligible language you people couldn't create and you are talking of nsibidi lol.

If you know how you lot sound to an average intelligent human, you people would abolish the nonsense you call language and start again from scratch.

You people and your culture are so worthless that an entire nation calls you all "calabar" which mind you is just a place and not even one of the lazy ethnic groups you have wallowing away there. Isn't that a shame?

Little wonder why all of you crawled out from your swamps to come and tear each other to shreds on this thread because you lack something as simple as identity. Shameless lot.

Igbos may be hated but every movement they make is feared by weaklings like y'all. That is dominance.

Aren't you ashamed that you are a snitch and proud?

Little kid, hausa or yoruba may have nothing against you but when the chips are down they would still cut you to pieces without hesitation. Doesn't that say much about your self esteem that you have to sulk up and look for acceptance before feeling a single self worth.

At least Igbos know their enemies and always tackle them head on. The question is could you phools do that?

Anyway you people are too tiny and irrelevant to be taken seriously. You are not a threat even to yourselves talk more of the great Igbos who have been taking shots from every godforsaken tribe in Nigeria but still hitting hard.

Get lost and get back to shamelessly clawing each other to shreds.

If your fellow statesman has just called your Ibibio inferior, how do you think I, a thoroughbred Igbo would view you.

Look who is talking about midgets lol

Go to any state in the East or Lagos and watch how your fellow "calabar" men whose only viable profession is Okada riding could barely reach the gear pedals on their bikes.

I would really go in on you but just keep this for now.

People are speaking and calabar chimps want to join the convo.
you are a big disgrace to the igbo nation for vomiting such thrash against a tribe that feed this God forsaken nation , something an hausa man suppose to do & u as our k/kin (uncle) will be there to back us up & u are there spewing thrash, come to Akwa ibom even my villa u will see real love b/w we & our s/east brothers they dominate our markets which sells weekly even some major supermarkets ,yam stores etc etc are owns by the igbos no one disturbs anybody they leave peacefully & participate in some activities like sports etc my elder brother married from umunakanu ,Ehime mbano in Imo state & my elder sister married from Okpofe, Ezinihitte mbaise still in Imo state & so many man from my village married igbo woman ,& as am charting with u now my fiancee is from Ulakwo I guess it should be in Owerri north LGA in Imo state , It's very seldom to see our ppl marry from hausa or yoruba ,though ...'' Bros you go school! Op is not really informed on the topic.

My hypothesis is that Ibibio is a blend of Efik and Igbo but predominately by Efik. I speak and write Efik, Igbo and Ibibio well and as such, have noticed lots of similarities. This similarities can not be regarded as mere coincidence.

I will attempt to list some words that have same meaning in the three languages and then any one can make his/her conclusion.

1) Vulture: Efik/Ibibio- Utere while in Igbo- Udele
2) Bottle: Efik/ Ibibio- Ekpeme while in Igbo - Ekpem
3)Money: Ibibio - Okpoho while in Igbo - Ego or Okpoho
4)Plate : Efik/ Ibibio- Usan while in Igbo (Abriba)- Usan
5) Masquerade: Efik/ Ibibio - Ekpo/Ekpe while in Igbo- Ekpo/ Ekpe
6) Tropical star cherry fruit: Efik/Ibibio - Urari while in Igbo -Udara
7)Spoon : Efik/Ibibio - Ikpang While in some- Igbo Ikpang
cool Clothing: Efik/ Ibibio- ofong while in some Igbo - Ofong
9) Female: Efik / Ibibio - Nwan while in Igbo-Nnwayi
10) Drinks or wine: Efik/Ibibio - Mmin, while in Igbo - Mmie
11) Pigs : Efik/ Ibibio - Edi while in Igbo- Ezi
12)Stock fish: Efik/ Ibibio Okporoko, while in Igbo-Okporoko

There are countless more but let me stop here. Pardon some of my spelling but feel free to contest any of these.

Politics / Re: 1,000 Defect From APC To PDP In Bayelsa by AkwaIbomrep1: 11:28pm On Nov 01, 2015
centvin008:
Ahead of the governorship election in Bayelsa State, no fewer than 1,000 members of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the state have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The defecting members, comprising 800 delegates at the APC governorship primary election held on August 22 and August 29 declared for the PDP at a ceremony which took place at Peace Park, Yenagoa, yesterday.
The defectors were led into the Peace Park venue by two prominent members of the APC, Senator John Brambaifa and Mr. Alex Ekiotenne.
They were received at the venue by Governor Seriake Dickson; Deputy National Chairman, PDP, South-South, Mr. Cairo Ojuigbo; Acting State Chairman, PDP, Mr. Serena Dokubo-Spiff; Bayelsa Deputy Governor, Rear Admiral John Jonah (retd.), among other PDP leaders.
Addressing the defectors, Dickson commended Brambaifa and Ekiotenne for returning to the PDP fold which they left about five months ago.
Dickson said, “We are happy that Brambaifa and Ekiotenne are back to the PDP. They have been prominent strategists for the PDP. Our government, Bayelsa PDP and Bayelsans are happy that we are now complete.
“While the storm lasted, I always remembered them for their patriotism towards Bayelsa and the Ijaw nation. With them, our restoration crusade is full and ready to sail. They led the foundation for the mass movements of some PDP members to the APC.
“Today, it is operation ‘Wind up APC in Bayelsa. This is just the beginning of winding up the APC in Bayelsa. We will continue to receive our brothers and sisters who were misled.”
The governor, who urged the crowd to observe a minute’s silence for the late former Governor of the state, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, said since Alamieyeseigha’s demise, was feeling a sense of emptiness.
He said: “But with these two persons, I am a bit consoled. If not for the way they harassed and killed Alamieyeseigha, he would have been here with us.”
In his remarks, Ekiotenne said with their return to the PDP, the APC in Bayelsa was buried.

Politics / Re: Buhari’s Statements De-marketing Nigeria, PDP Says by AkwaIbomrep1: 4:21pm On Nov 01, 2015
ochejoseph:

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has drawn the attention of Nigerians to the ‘harmful consequences’ of the unabated negative statements from the very father of the nation, President Muhammadu Buhari, on the economy and the general image of the country.
The party said “it is worrisome that in the last six months, the President, instead of making efforts to harness resources and grow the economy, has rather continued to apply himself, perhaps unwittingly, to demarketing the nation and scaring away investors through negative labelling of Nigerians and unwarranted unhealthy portrayal of the nation’s economy”.
The PDP, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, on Sunday said the President’s unwary statements have become very serious clog in the wheel of progress, eroding the confidence of both domestic and international investors in the Nigerian economic and social system.
“In the last six months, our President has only succeeded in discouraging foreign investors with his continued misrepresentation of our country as a business unfriendly environment, where most of the citizens are basically corrupt, dishonest, and cannot be trusted.
“Whereas we have restated our total support for the war against corruption, we insist that Mr. President’s unceasing blanket negative labelling of citizens, in a country where millions of honest and hardworking individuals/firms are genuinely contributing daily to the development effort, is indeed a disservice and injurious to the nation and the people.
“Furthermore, Mr. President’s recent announcement to the world that the nation, with its abundant human and natural resources, is broke and cannot pay cabinet ministers not only sends a discouraging signal to the domestic and international business community, but also exposes the ineptitude of the present administration to meaningfully and sincerely exert itself and work with industrious and innovative investors to create and manage wealth.
“We ask; how can any reasonable investor still have the confidence to invest in a country where the President himself continues to alert that his country reeks of corrupt people and that the government is broke to the extent it cannot pay cabinet ministers?
“Is the President not directly advising investors against having confidence in Nigeria and the system, and that they risk not being paid for jobs awarded by government at any level?
“More worrisome is the fact that Mr. President most times, makes his damaging comments in international fora with potential investors in attendance to the extent that reminds one of the proverbial father who, in the presence of potential suitors, often portrays his daughters as wayward and yet constantly complain of their inability to find husbands.
“Indeed, this is not the way to go, Nigeria is a country blessed with abundant human and natural resources. What we need at the moment is a serious, innovative and practical approach with the capacity to harness the resources and create wealth for the benefit of all, instead of an apparently laidback scapegoat tactics with outworn excuses and unhelpful comments.
“May we remind Mr. President that even in the darkest period of our economic challenges, successive administrations made efforts in steadying the economy, while always reassuring our citizens and the international community of the strength and economic potentials of our great nation.
“We know that in the desperation to cover its apparent lack of economic plan, this administration has positioned cabinet ministers, upon inauguration to concentrate on diversionary blame game on the past PDP administration. But even this political deceit cannot combat the unpalatable consequences of Mr. President’s damaging utterances on the image of the nation and its economy.
“Finally, we wish to remind the President and those around him that Nigerians, by the 2015 elections, have committed the fate of the country in his hands for the next four years and are not willing to accept excuses for any economic failures under his watch,” the party said.

Kukere master Iyanya will be celebrating his 29th birthday tonight at the Tickle Bay event centre, Lekki-Epe expressway. It's going to be an all white lavish party that equally has an almost all white venue to match.

Iyanya has worked hard and now has the dough. He's definitely going to have a ball tonight.
