GenBuhari:^Don't be an id*ot. Stop spreading lies. The returning officer did not mention PDP in what he said. Frustration will kill you come Saturday when PDP wins with a landslide. |
EPOMA:^Stop peddling rumors and trying to rewrite history. Buhari did not pay off any Nigerian debt. He defaulted and worsened our debt profile. Do some research. EPOMA:^And bankrupted many Nigerian business men in the process; further worsening the economic situation. EPOMA:^Please don't continue. . .Not until you research the history of those terrible days some more. EPOMA:^Both you and Buhari are playing to the gallery. The is no office of First Lady to scrap because it is not in the constitution or Law anywhere. If this is the reason you are against the president, you really had nothing to say. |
sbeezy8:^ It is widely rumored in the north that Sambo's father is an Auchi man which partly accounts for his lack of acceptance in the core North. Unconfirmed though. |
^*Yawn* "Intellectually flogged" Another favorite Sagamoron word. My, isn't your vocabulary rather limited? Is your brain oozing yet from your ears as it overheats and goes into meltdown. What a silly child, you are. |
Sagamite:^^There. Did I not say so. Your brain is already in meltdown mode. . .already manifesting it's limited vocabulary. You are surely "reetarded". How long before you start frothing at the mouth and chewing your tongue, I wonder. "Mooron." I don't have time for your temper tantrums, little boy. Did mummy take away your toys? Is that why you about embarking on your characteristic hissy fits. Grow up little boy. Adults are discussing. If you want me to take you serious, behave like one. Oh and BTW; you insulted me by responding to my post. |
Sagamite:^^Sour grapes. You actually have nothing of importance to say to me. Now let's hear you debouch to your usual limited vocabulary of "*mo*ron, *re*tard, silverback gorilla" etc, because of your severe intellectual handicap that makes it difficult for you to process intelligent discourse thus resulting in the short-circuiting of your brain neurons. An affliction that perennially manifests in your uncouth and loutish behavior. |
BetaThings:Part of the problem with Nigeria is that people make decisions and argue based on emotions and zero knowledge. Partly why the failure rate is so high in NECO/WAEC. 1) The Foreign Reserve is managed by the CBN. The FG cannot dip its hands into it. . .unless of course it is a military government like that of you know who. 2) Part of the decline in the FR is because the CBN has been propping up the value of the Naira which is threatening to drop because of excessive dollar demand. If it drops, you will be one of the idiots blaming the FG for allowing the Naira to depreciate. 3) The excess crude account is unconstitutional; a situation the FG is trying to remedy by passing a bill establishing the Sovereign Wealth Fund that will lock in excess earnings for future generations. If we had such in place in the past; our $12b dollar Gulf-War windfall would not have disappeared under Babangida. 4) The presidential jets belong to Nigeria not GEJ. You are really being silly listing this as a reason for depletion of the FR. Shows you don't know what your talking about. The jets were duly appropriated for. 5) Get an education and acquaint yourself with facts so that you can argue intelligently. |
Apart from money, Buhari left ANPP to form CPC not too long ago, I think his popularity has more to do with Buhari himself than with his political party or structure, It will take time to form structires. I stand corrected, I don't think CPC has ever contested any election until yesterday.
^^So remove Buhari. And CPC withers and dies. What a lot of BB supporters don't realize is that CPC has actually been subtly hijacked from Buhari. Two critical decisions made by Buhari suggest so. 1) The decision to deny Mike Ahamba, the party chairmanship. A decision that so embittered Ahamba to the point that he resigned from the party. Now note that Ahamba has been loyal to Buhari, standing with him through thick and thin. When you read Buhari's rationalization of that decision; you immediately realize that something did not add up. Nigeria's politics is built on the tripod of appeasing the three major tribes. If Ahamba was chairman of CPC; it would have given the CPC a high-profile Igbo face and given it a fighting chance in the SE. Tony Momoh was selected as CPC party chairman based on the calculation that he will serve as a "counterweight" to GEJ in the SS. Really? Does anyone actually think that will persuade the SS to vote for CPC. 2) By choosing Tunde Bakare as running mate. Bakare is not going to increase CPC's vote tally anywhere in the SW. Strategic mistake. In selecting your running mate, you chose a loyal party man (as ACN did) that can add votes to your ticket. Bakare is an outsider; someone without a power base in the CPC structure. I daresay a number of CPC stalwarts would have been disappointed by the choosing of an outsider as their presidential running mate. The more astute will realize that these two key decisions have in effect served to isolate Buhari within his own party, while presenting an appearance of "unity". By pushing out of the party a key loyalist of Buhari that could have won him votes in the SE and pairing him with an outsider that will not win him much votes in the key battleground SW states. Note that Buhari made this grievous errors of judgement based on advice he received from a coterie of advisors around him. Who are these advisors? A bevy of ex-PDP and ANPP politicians (some of whom I suspect are actually moles). This is a classic strategem. For example in the Bible, David sent a trusted advisor Hushai into Absalom's camp to counter any sound advise given by Ahitophel. General Buhari's rigidity makes it easy for him to be manipulated by those around him, once you can win his trust. |
Kobojunkie:^^Please do stop arguing with yourself. Are you not one of those who: Kobojunkie:And did you not: Kobojunkie: fstranger3:^^You are so right! It's called cognitive dissonance. |
Eziachi:^Are you being a hypocrite? And the former PDP and ANPP criminals hovering around your "messianic" General Buhari who is clueless are what? The "saints" that will deliver Nigeria? How pitifully naive you are. Oh and BTW the less than average guy has accomplished more than you will ever accomplish. At least he's the president of a nation of 150 million people and you are the president of what. . .? Eziachi:And I hate you telling me that Buhari will repair this country; when he was the one that set in train the series of events that wrecked Nigeria's second Republic. |
^^@Jarus: no one is saying GEJ will win in Kano. Because that is what you are arguing in the post above. I doubt if any of GEJ's most fanatic supporters believes that he will win in the NW. The pattern we see in Kano is being replicated in Jigawa, Zamfara, Borno, Yobe, Nasarawa: all places we were led to believe are nigh impregnable CPC strongholds. Even your home state went PDP. What is the use of having a "popular" presidential candidate if it does not translate into victories for his party's national assembly candidates? So CPC won 5, so far. Do you think they will win up to 12 in a 109 member chamber? What this translates to is that CPC is a regional party on the level of APGA. Even Labor party, a one-state party has 3 senators-elect. This is not a good sign for the Buhari campaign. At least one would have expected that Buhari's halo would have rubbed off on a significant proportion of his parties candidates. For example in the US, a lot of democratic party candidates rode on Obama's coattails into office. Why is this not the case in Buhari's own instance? After all, CPC is Buhari. It would appear that PDP's targeting of grassroots votes in the North is really damaging CPC because the question must be asked: why are the crowds we see at CPC rallies not voting for CPC candidates? Even if we set aside Kano as a special case We cannot gloss over this question because General Buhari did ask his supporters to vote for CPC candidates in the NASS elections so that he will be able to have a NASS he can work with if he wins the presidency. I believe this result actually confirms the naivety of the Buhari campaign organization: which failed to realize a primal law of modern party politics; The party with grassroots structures tends to do better than the one without. Personal popularity can only carry your party so far. Houses are built from the ground up, not roof down. Apparently CPC is trying to build a political structure from the head down. A strategy that was obviously doomed to fail. |
^^As you rightly pointed out; the nature of parliamentary elections is different from the presidential elections. Have you considered the proportion of votes cast for each party in these elections? For example, in Ogun state you will realize that the factionalization of PDP into PDP/PPN was what actually gave ACN the victory there as the combined PDP/PPN votes outweighed the ACN. So don't be too sure that Ribadu will outperform GEJ in the SW. |
reindeer:^What tribal sentiments? Is Jonathan Hausa, Yoruba or Igbo? Both you and Eziachi are talking rubbish because of bitterness in your hearts at the president. Most of the people supporting Jonathan are not even Ijaw, so what tribal sentiments are you talking? If you guys don't have anything sensible to contribute, why don't you shut up? |
Kobojunkie:Oh please. Try again. "Not been campaigning for the CPC"? This is rich coming from those that were trying to make this elections about parties (PDP vs. CPC vs. ACN); Only to now come and tell us that it's not the parties but the "individual". Good grief you are morphing into Beaf, who's all this while insisted that the election is about individuals not parties. To borrow your well-worn cliched phrase: ROFLMAO!! |
Eziachi:^^Sour grapes. He's in the PDP; he doesn't need to form his own party. The man that formed his own party; how many senate seats does his party have following the NASS elections upon all the "crowds". Please. We all know what your angle is. You are vehemently convinced that GEJ as president in 2011 will prevent an Igbo man as president in 2015. "Zoning" must die in Nigeria so that the best whether Igbo or Yoruba or Hausa or Southern or Northern minority can be president. Stop waiting for people to hand Ndi-Igbo the presidency on a platter called "zoning". |
*Yawn* You are not saying anything of importance to me just rehashing old arguments. Allowing a merit based system favors all including the minorities as cream always rises to the top. Some of the most successful Nigerians are not from any of the 3 major tribes. Zoning is a system designed to disenfranchise the minorities. If zoning as you say is responsible for GEJ's emergence as President then why the hue and cry from your cousins in the North about being denied the Presidency? Why can't they wait for an Igbo man to be president before demanding that the Presidency rotates to them. . .unless of course, there's something they are not telling us or a hidden agenda. It is nothing but deceit and hypocrisy. Spin it however you want; we all know that GEJ's emergence was an Act of God and nothing to do with zoning. I repeat: Your so-called "largest" tribe of Hausa (+Fulani) numbers not more than 30% of the entire Nigerian Population. If the remaining Nigerians (Yorubas + Igbos + Nothern minorities + Southern minorities) get together and decide not to vote for any Hausa man as president, case closed. Zoning is designed to prevent that eventuality (which happened on June 12, 1993---hence the annulment of the election through the Hausa-dominated Military government). Now go away. Or contribute something pertinent to the purpose of this thread. |

Eziachi:My friend, I am not interested in one-upmanship or point scoring or having the last word. Just pointing out your erroneous claim that PDP did not make any gains any where.
but did not gain any from anybody
Please act your age and stop spoiling for a quarrel with me. ![]() |
Eziachi:^^Err, they actually gained seats in Borno and Kano. |
The OP is just trying to put a spin on the rather disappointing performance of the CPC in the NASS elections. On this forum; Jarus and his cohort have tried to convince us that CPC was an unstoppable tsunami sweeping out of the NW, clearing all PDP structures before it to finally berth in Lagos. Now that the dust of the NASS elections is settling, with both PDP and ACN outperforming CPC even in perceived CPC strongholds (and confirming a fundamental law of politics; it is parties with structures on the ground that win elections); the shock to his system is making him elevate Buhari and Tinubu to the pantheon of Nigeria's heroes of democracy. |
Nicklee:^^Please. This sounds like sour grapes. Jega put in a place a process that ensures transparency of the results. because you are in the US and did not vote, you don't know this. Votes were counted at each polling unit, and declared on the spot after counting. The results are recorded on the official INEC result sheet and the party agents append their signatures to authenticate the result. Any alteration of the results will be easy to detect and challenge at the collation centers. Of course in a few places like Anambra Central, some bad eggs will want to play smart, but the delay we are witnessing there is due to the ease with which any alteration can be detected. |
Wadeoye:^^The results show PDP maintaining a majority in the NASS Wadeoye:^^Are Kano and Jigawa no more core North; PDP trounced CPC in these places. Wadeoye:^^See as you are just waffling all over the place. Now you are making excuses after boasting all over the place. |
9ijaMan:^^You can add that as well. They are very much in use in that part of the country. You need to travel around Nigeria some more. |
mrjingles:^^You 've been objective unlike some rather emotional individuals on this forum that have interpreted losses in some constituencies as a rout of the ruling PDP; allowing their dislike of the party to cloud all objectivity. |
It would appear that rumors of PDP's demise have been exaggerated after all: ABUJA, April 10 (Reuters) - Below is a table of the latest |
9ijaMan:^^See your life. When we tell you people to educate yourself about your country; you won't. The distances in the North are huge as you can see from the maps. It takes longer to collate results from more remote areas, for example in some parts of Borno, election materials were transported using horses. |
JIGAWA: PDP in clean sweep of Jigawa State’s House of Reps elections |
9ijaMan:^^This will not happen. Wake up. There will be no runoff. Mark my words! |
ziccoit:^Nigerians like to pontificate without information. Official estimates of voter turnout is 75%. That is a majority in my book. |
tuco02:^^You are missing the point. The CPC told its supporters to vote for CPC candidates in all elective positions because they said Buhari needs members of his party in the National assembly as a majority in order to be able to perform effectively. What happened in Kano? At least CPC should have done better in Kano. Not so? |
