There is a slim chance of this happening, I can only think of 19 states (Zamfara,Yobe,Taraba,Sokoto,Niger,Nasarawa,Kwara,Kebbi,Kogi,Katsina,Kano,Kaduna,jigawa,Gombe,Borno,benue,bauchi,adamawa,plateau) in which Buhari is sure of getting over 25%, but with the low figures being posted in the south west in particular, it is possible He still gets majority over a very slim margin. For example at my polling station it is about 800 cpc votes to 100 pdp votes, that 700 margin can cover about 5 polling booths in lagos.GEJ on the hand is likely to score very low in core north (e.g Sokoto, Yobe, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Kaduna, Borno, Gombe). there is a slim chance it can happen

^I believe you are asking what happens if:
A. The candidate with most votes does not secure the required spread
B. A second candidate ends up having the required spread but not the most votes.

The rules are clear: In such a situation, there will be a runoff between candidate A and B, with a simple majority being required.

At the end of the day: the results will probably replicate the 2003 pattern with the possible exception of Buhari adding Niger and Kaduna state to the states he won in 2003.

In my view, what ever the amount of money looted for the power project was not looted by OBJ. He most likely was incompetent, careless in the management, but I don't believe he looted it. So I don't think there is anything like "OBJ's $16bn".

Ribadu went after CRIMINALS. That is what matters to me, not their moan that they are being prosecuted based on selective justice.

It is like armed robbers saying why is the police only focussing on their patch.

Senator-elect for Lagos Central Senatorial District, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu Saturday lost her ward 9 unit 034 to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

While PDP polled a total of 82 votes, the ACN polled 80 votes, CPC had 27, ANPP 2 and FRESH polled 1 vote respectively.

Abuja - From all indications, Nigeria looks set to elect two Presidents on Saturday the 16th of April 2011.

Political analysts are predicting that one President will win the mandate to rule over the geographical entity known as Nigeria, while the other President will win the vote to rule over Nigerians on the internet.

Currently, favourite to somehow win the right to rule the land known as Nigeria is the incumbent President, Jonathan Goodluck, but competition for the office of President of Internet Nigerians is still too close to call.

If the outcome of the presidential election is this predicted dichotomy, the Internet Nigerians are expected to behave like sore-losers and insist that their President should have won the seat of the other President as well.

Analysts have suggested that the only way to prevent an attempt by the Internet Nigerians to take over the other Nigeria is to take away their electricity.

This shouldn't be a problem for the likely President of the landed area known as Nigeria. His party has already spent $12billion making sure of that.

Fact is that Buhari will lose this election (he may even know this deep down) but the real question is what becomes of CPC? will it grow to become a national party or will it die with buhari's ambition and how will ACN fair? will it be reduced to a "yoruba" party or will it grow to a truly national party? Those are the key questions as for this elections they should forget it and look forward. They lost the elections before 2010 even.

^What becomes of CPC? It will die within the space of 2 - 3years. Or at best diminish to the status of a fringe party. Most of it's candidates are opportunistic politicians seeking to ride on the General's coattails to office who decamped from their parent parties. Most of them will retrace their steps after the election. For example, look at Adamawa state where Marwa jumped from PDP to CPC after losing the party nomination. Now that governorship elections will not hold in Adamawa state this year. . .
ACN can transform to a viable alternative to PDP if they play their cards right. They can do this by turning ACN governed states intoo models of development.

James Ibori, the former governor of Delta state, was finally extradited to United Kingdom today after the London Metropolitan police foiled his latest plot to flee from the United Arab Emirates through a series of complex legal manipulations he hatched in Dubai.

CPC's mistake of selecting unpopular candidates plus the various cases of 2 aspirants still fighting for ticket till election. But in presidential, you will see whether his crowd are rented or not. Will he win election? I doubt it. But will he win NW where he pulled crowd? I have no doubt.

For example, the various textile manufacturing plants in the north, that the likes of Buhari and Babangida killed; are being resuscitated. Kaduna Textiles is a case in point.

The estimated population as at 2010 was 3,920,208. With an estimated 300,000 HIV-infected people: it means that nearly 1 in 10 in that state is infected. That's what those figures mean so stop disbelieving.

@fstranger: that is not the picture of any patient with HIV. The man does not have HIV infection and the image is in the public domain. I would not betray Doctor-Patient confidentiality.

What I simply pointed out was that most people with HIV infection look healthy and are asymptomatic. For example; how are the sentinel surveys in Nigeria carried out; by examining pregnant women in the Antenatal clinics. This demographic is chosen because they fall within the sexually active age groups which are most at risk for infection. It would interest you to note that nearly all the woman found to be HIV-positive in the ANC do not manifest any symptoms; they are in all respects like every other pregnant woman coming for antenatal care. It only by the routine HIV-test that these women discover that they are infected.

In our clinic which caters for over 10,000 patients, most of them come to us when AIDS has started manifesting and usually this is when the CD4 cells have declined below 200. AIDS on will manifest at about 2 - 10 years after the initial HIV infection (on average in Nigeria at about 5 years). Where were these individuals in the preceding five years - they were going about their daily activities looking for all the world to their friends, family and sex-partners as healthy.

With a national prevalence of ~4%; this implies that there are millions of people infected in Nigeria. In all of Nigeria, only about 300,000 people or so are on treatment. Only those that know that they have HIV are on treatment; so where are the millions who do not know and who are not on treatment? They are out there in the community, living among us, a lot of them practicing unsafe sex and passing on the virus to unsuspecting others.
