The global audience at America's Got Talent, arguably the biggest talent show in the world were at the Tuesday's episode held spellbound with the sterling performance of a Polish Nigerian 14-year-old singer Sara James.

The judge and executive producer pressed his Golden Buzzer Sara James, qualifying her for the live show of the event to the jubilation of the audience.

James wowed the judges' panel with her rendition of Billie Eilish's "Lovely," but it was ultimately Cowell, 62, who pushed the coveted button to send the teen straight to the live shows.

"We've heard a lot of singers over the years, but wow," Cowell said. "You have a real star glow about you."

The moment happened after James revealed it was her first time in the United States. Cowell then told her that he wanted to make her dreams come true and proceeded to push his Golden Buzzer.

"This is probably where you dreamt of performing. I can remember when I came to America for the first time ... that was a moment I'll never forget," Cowell said. "And I want to make this a moment for you to remember forever."

James, who was in disbelief and overcome with emotion on stage, tells PEOPLE that even now the excitement still hasn't settled in.

"To be honest, I'm speechless. When I'm thinking of it, I'm literally shaking ... I'm just so happy," she says. "It's something that I've dreamed of and it happened. It's so crazy!"

"In America, dreams come true. It's so amazing," she adds. "[Simon] made this whole trip to America so lovely — and America's actually really beautiful, to be honest. I'm in love and I want to live there — but it was such an amazing moment and when I think of it, I just want to cry."

Cowell tells PEOPLE, "I pushed my golden buzzer for Sara because she is, in my opinion, a total star. She flew across the world to audition on AGT 'to see if dreams come true' — that really resonated with me, as 20 years ago I came to those thoughts as well. I just didn't have her talent!"

James says she started singing when she was "about 3 or 4" and has been a longtime fan of the show, though she never thought she'd actually audition.

"When I was little, I was watching all the videos of America's Got Talent on YouTube, and I was like, 'Oh my god. Wow, it's so amazing,' but I'd never think of it in a serious way," she admits.

That all changed after her recent trip to America.

Following her impressive performance, Cowell told PEOPLE of the judges' reactions, "We were all thinking the same thing on my particular Golden Buzzer. There were about three of us, I think, all prepared to jump on that Golden Buzzer. [Her] act's so good."

Now that she's been handed a ticket straight to the live shows, James says she's already brainstorming ideas for her next performance.

"I have a bunch of ideas," she explains, noting that she's most excited to get back "on stage and show everything I have to the judges."

To enhance menstrual hygiene of the girl child, a beauty queen and winner of Face of Tiv international has distributed no fewer than 12,000 sanitary pads to girls in selected secondary schools in Benue and Abuja.

A gender advocate and President, World Women Leading Change Nigeria, Ogenna Walter has received a rousing welcome in the Central African Republic where she recently hosted the Tongolo Africa Concert.

Group Says no to monetary inducement of delegates, endorses osinbajo as consensus candidate

Legacy Transformation Initiative, a policy formulation and analysis hub has lamented inducement of delegates by Nigerian politicians as seen in the just concluded primary election held by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.

The non-partisan group which made this known in a statement signed by Ibe Aniemeke Lawson, its national coordinator was appreciative of Nigerian youths for the non-violent atmosphere during the primary elections processes.

It is also called on the ruling the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) not to toe the path of the PDP. It said it will be a stain on the reputation of the party of its delegates are induced monetarily as it was in the case of the opposition party.

Going further, the group admonished Nigerian leaders over the non inclusion of the youths in the electoral process despite the enacted law backing it.

The group urged politicians to adopt and initiate pragmatic frameworks and activities that will encourage and incentivize the youths to politics.

Part of the statement read: "One of such ways is to deliberately as a matter of necessity re-engineer our leadership recruitment process. Of immediate attention is the need to demonetise the methods for delegate selection or nomination through the adoption of stringent guidelines that emphasize on the strength of character, experience and leadership qualities of candidates to inform the choice of delegate in choosing party’s flag bearers.

Only when this is entrenched as a party culture can the youths and credible people aspire and eventually emerge to represent the mass of us.

This is particularly worrisome, with several reports that made the rounds of the charade and open market bidding processes that allegedly characterized the opposition PDP Presidential Congress. This was reinforced as expressed and captured by one of the PDP Presidential aspirants, Dr Hayatu deen (a seasoned banker)- who had to step down on account of the over monetization of the process.

"Thirdly, accordingly, we prescribed that the “it is time” the ruling party (APC) is offered a golden opportunity come 6th -7th June 2022 to assuage the traumatized Nigerians- especially our teeming youths who saw that infamy perpetrated by the PDP by correcting the wrongs. The APC can engender itself among Nigerians through this narrow window their Presidential Congress affords by conducting the primary congress devoid of monetary inducements and the characterising of an eventual winner as the highest bidder in the process.

Thus, we appeal on behalf other numerous patriots that by adopting or voting Prof Yemi Osinbajo (GCON)- whom we have by our earlier press statement characterised from our studies as the most suitable and capable of the rest of the qualified aspirants on the APC primary election ballot. A man who is evidently and manifestly is NOT a money bag, a pious and prudent character that his profile set him apart from other contenders and whose aspirations resonates with the youths and mass of Nigerians; as well as the international community. Equally, by seizing the onerous opportunity of adopting or overwhelmingly/unanimously electing Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (GCON) the APC delegates/leadership would deliberately with all sense of patriotism avert the strain on the Naira and the correlating inflationary impact on the Nigeria economy a second tortious pull of the strong dollar against a weak naira at this time. We are afraid to note and conclude that if the APC fails to seize this moment nor neglects to react to the PDP's primary election debacle and the reputation it has infamously earned by doing something different, Nigerians may continue in the erroneous classification that all the parties are only different between six and half a dozen.

The presidential ambition of Mr Peter Obi who dumped PDP and defected to Labour Party yesterday, May 27 has suffered a serious setback as the faction led by Comr Calistus Okafor said, Mr Obi identified with the wrong faction of the party.

Investigation reveals that Obi who registered yesterday with the faction led by Julius Abure may have been deceived to defect to Labour party without being informed that the party leadership has been a subject of litigation since 2020.

According to a source, Comr Calistus Okafor is the authentic National Chairman of the Labour party. He was the deputy national chairman of the party to the late National chairman, Abdulkadir Abdusalam.

It was gathered that when Abdulkadir Abdusalam, died in year 2020, Mr Julius Abure who was then the acting National secretary, announced himself as the national chairman without recourse to the provisions of the party's constitution which recognized the deputy national chairman to act and or replace the chairman in the course of death or resignation.

The action of Abure in connivance with some members of the party led to the leadership crisis. Calistus Okafor therefore went to the court to get a pronouncement to force Abure out and the case has been pending. It was gathered that the matter will come up next week at the federal high court.

Another source said that there is no way an acting national secretary will forcefully takeover the party and replace the late national chairman against the provisions of the constitution of the party.

Apart from the leadership crisis between Calistus Okafor and Julius Abure, AIF Media gathered that the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC & Trade Union Congress, TUC are also in court agaisnt the party.

It was the NLC and TUC that registered the Labour party in 2006. In May 4, 2022, the NLC and TUC in a statement published on Punch newspaper said the Labour Party has been taken back from politicians who hitherto, hijacked it from the union.

The statement added that NLC & TUC had established a political commission in the 36 states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory to administer the affairs of the party and ensure that members participate in the 2023 general elections.

Speaking to the Punch correspondent the chairman of the commission, Dr Ayo Olorunfemi, stated that both the TUC and Nigeria Labour Congress are now in charge of the Labour party adding that measures had been put in place to ensure that the party would not be hijacked again.

It was this crisis and the court order obtained by Femi Falana, SAN who is the lawyer of NLC that forced Chief Olusegun Mimiko out of the Labour party and he later joined Zenith labour party where he contested for the 2019 presidential election.

The crisis is still there and unfortunately, those who took Obi to Labour party may not have informed him properly.

AIF Media could not reach to Mr Obi to know how he wants to resolve this lingering leadership crisis in Labour party or if he would seek for ticket in another party.

A statement signed by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President, Media & Publicity stated that the President was presented with the Award on Tuesday in Abuja by the Chairman Governing Council CIFCFEN Board of Trustees, Dr Iliyasu Gashinbaki.

The award is the highest honour of the Institute reserved for only African Heads of States with impeccable character and unimpeachable ideals.



The Nigerian leader is the first African leader to be bestowed with the award. Receiving the award, President Buhari thanked the Institute for the honour, saying:

”This recognition further imbues in me hope that we will as individuals and citizens of this country begin to live right and imbibe the ideals and ethos of the founding fathers of this great nation.”

The President pledged ”to look into and assent accordingly” a bill seeking the formal establishment of CIFCFEN, acknowledging that the Bill is presently before him.

He commended the Institute for working and effectively complementing the efforts of law enforcement agencies, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) and the Police.

He directed the anti-corruption agencies to continue partnering with the Institute for the benefit of the country.


Furthermore, the President directed the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning to work with the Institute in areas of providing technical assistance and capacity building to all revenue generating agencies and regulators in the public sector.

The President lauded the Board of Trustees for issuing the first independent review of graft fighting strategy of the country, adding that he is pleased to receive copies of the latest flagship publication, the Annual (2021) CIFCFEN Country Report, themed around the review of the Country’s National Anti-Corruption Strategy 2017-2021.

”This is the first independent review of graft fighting strategy and I commend the Institute for this initiative.”

Justifying the importance of forensics and fraud examination in the fight against corruption, President Buhari said:

”The need for forensic experts arises in educating, preventing, detecting and prosecuting fraudsters, while fraud examination helps mitigate vices like embezzlement, money laundering, misuse and mismanagement of public resources.

”Many Nigerians, who are serious about eliminating corruption in our country, will welcome this review of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy midwifed by the Federal Ministry of Justice and the Presidential Advisory Committee on Anti-Corruption in 2017 and supported by our International friends.

”This has been our flagship effort in fighting corruption and we did this by distilling all previous strategies geared towards fighting corruption into a single strategy, while this review comes with recommendations that will be carefully reviewed by the Office of the Attorney General and adopted in our 2nd National Anti-Corruption Strategy that will be unveiled shortly.

”This effort by the Institute to undertake the review of the national anti-corruption strategy is highly commendable and it has shown the usefulness of partnerships with professional bodies and my administration will continue to partner with the Institute and as well as other private institutions, the academia and other stakeholders in the fight to stop sleaze and mitigate corruption.
