A new movie, “Ikemba”, was premiered on Sunday at the Orientals Hotel, Lekki, Lagos, to an array of “A” list actors and movie enthusiasts. The movie which had actors like Pete Edochie, Ramsey Noah, Yul Edochie, Zubby Michael, Patience Ozokwor, Chiwetalu Agu, Kanayo O.Kanayo, Krystal Okeke and others, was produced by Mr James Oguejiofor. The star studded movie tells the story of how the whitemen came into Nigeria.


Oguejiofor told newsmen that the movie had “A list actors” because he wanted the best and also for the message in the script to be perfectly interpreted. “Ikemba movie is about happenings in Africa.


If you observe, the colonial masters are still around, they like to cause chaos whenever they intend to get something from Africa. “The young ones don’t know all these, that is why we are writing these stories to educate our people and also open their eyes. It is not always about making money but to enlighten the people,” he said.
The producer added that one of the challenges of shooting the movie was getting actors to location due to insecurity, as the movie was shot in Enugu, Abia and Calabar. Veteran actress, Patience Ozokwor, popularly know as, “Mama G”, said, “Ikemba is a one-stop movie that gives you everything you want in a movie.

“It talks about tradition, culture, education, foreign touch and everything that has happened to us. The message cuts across cultures. “It is a star studded movie but most importantly, it passes an important message on how the foreigners came in and what they did. “I hope people will learn to make movies with great stories like this.”

Actor Kanayo O. Kanayo, also described the movie as being unique, adding that it looks back to the days when the whitemen came and those on ground did not understand them. “Africans are great people who don’t unnecessarily suspect you but then, the whiteman came with Bible in hand and before we opened our eyes, we had the Bible and they had the lands. “They came with entrenched interest, it caused division amongst us, which has not gone till date. Now, we hardly trust people around us. “There is always this tendency of playing the politics of supremacy, these are the stories told by Ikemba which makes it a unique one.” he said.

US based actress Dr. Krystal Okeke celebrated the movie as a rich historical African reflection which tells so much of culture and tradition. According to her, " I represent culture, I own three companies in United States of Africa that is all about culture and diversity, bringing people together, ending discrimination, that is what this movie signifies" I am a mixed Nigerian, I am Fulani, Hausa, Ibo. You don't see that in Nigeria so that is who inspired me"

The movie lead director, Godwin Obiora, popularly know as, “Boko Indentention”, said it wasn’t easy directing a star studded movie, especially those that are well grounded with tradition. He said he had to do detailed research to effectively guide the actors and also tell the story in a way that would be easily understood.

“I did a lot of research to make me connect with the script. I wanted to make something that invalidates some of the teachings we were taught about the whiteman in school. “I decided to change the narrative so that my children and other generations to come would know the true story.” he said.

Emmanuel Eyaba, the Assistant Movie Director, said that directing Ikemba was a big project and that there would be subsequent premiere in Abuja and Port-Harcourt.“Ikemba is another step closer to making movies that promote our culture, heritage and tradition, so that they do not go into extinction. Ikemba is just one of a kind,” he said. Sylvester Madu, who also acted in the movie, described Ikemba as unique and a must see for everyone. Madu said the movie tells why Africa needed to come together and harness its resources rather than let other people do it.

A new date for the PDP Anambra State Congress will be communicated as soon as it is decided.

Meanwhile the sale of Forms for the Anambra State Congress has been extended. A new date for the closure of the sale of Form will also be communicated.

Anambra 2023: Engr. Aniagoh Obtains State Assembly Nomination Form, Says He Stands Out

The former Director-General of Anambra State Digital Entrepreneurship Office, Engr Ifeanyi Aniagoh has obtained nomination and expression interest forms to represent the people of Njikoka II constituency in the state House of Assembly on the platform of APGA in 2023.

This comes as he insists that his pedigree and track record of excellent service makes him the candidate to beat in the upcoming election.

*Ned Nwoko Meets Sharon Ikeazor for collaboration with Ministry of Environment on Malaria Project*

Recall that in 2020 at the initial stage of the Ned Nwoko Malaria Eradication Project, Prince Ned Nwoko had a meeting with the then Minister of Environment Dr. Mohammad Mahmood Abubakar (Now Minister of Agriculture) to forge collaboration on the malaria project particularly on the environmental action of the project which includes; Sanitation, Waste Management and Fumigation. In continuation to this, the initiator of the Africa Malaria Eradication Project, Prince Ned Nwoko yesterday had a meeting with the Honourable Minister of State For Environment Sharon O. Ikeazor to discuss ways the Ministry can collaborate with the Ned Nwoko Foundation for an effective implementation of the Malaria Eradication Project. Ned highlighted on the need for Sanitation, Fumigation and Waste Management which includes setting up recycling plants in every senatorial district of the country. The latter emphasized that aside the primary aim of putting an end to mosquitoes and malaria in Nigeria, the project will also lead to generation of power through waste to power as well as fertilizers and other bye products of recycling. Ned also discussed the proposed bill for Malaria and Waste Management Agency as the only way through which a sustainable structure can be put in place to ensure that Nigeria is free of Malaria.

The Honourable minister welcomed Prince Ned Nwoko and his team and expressed her joy for Ned to have embarked on this laudable project. She gave an update on the programmes and initiatives that the ministry has embarked on and believes that their work is in line with Ned Nwoko Foundation’s Proposal. FIDA, The NBA and Nzükõ Umu-Ada Igbo International members urged her not to bother about the hurdles she might encounter in the “process of liberating the people because they will be involved in this her election, and will muster everything required to emerge victorious, especially in the electioneering and financially,” as they believe in her ability and precedent to bringing fresh air to legislation in Nigeria.

The group made up of seasoned and qualified professional Igbo women and daughters from Anambra State all over the world, delegated their members at Omambalaã chapter to purchase the forms for her, also presented her with Fidelity Bank and Zenith Bank cheques of N1,000,000Million and N500,000 Thousand respectively, vowed to unite and support her cause.

One of such is veteran pageant organiser and project director of Face of Democracy Nigeria, Comrade Olufunsho Alexander Ajagbonna popularly known as FAJAG who is eyeing the presidency of the association.

ABUJAPRESS reliably gathered that there are no serious or strong contestants for the position, a situation that may see Fajag emerge unopposed as president of the association.

He has also recently unveiled his manifesto to make real his readiness. Fajag is believed to have a rich network of contacts within and outside the industry which will make him a perfect fit for the office of the President.

Some contestants have also indicated interest to vie for office of the National Secretary of the association. Among them is Amb. Raymond Jefferson, the organiser of Miss Comely Queen Nigeria and The Nigeria University carnival Queen. He has also released his manifesto with assurance of bringing positive impact to the organisation.


Amb. Ajeh Raphael of Face Of Orient & Face Of Ultimate Queen and Amb Clinton Nwoso of Miss Indigenous Nigeria have also indicated interest to run for office of the National Organising Secretary of the association while others are Hilda Yange of Queen Of Culture And Tourism Benue and Felicity for National Vice President position, Amb. As Amarachi Favour of Miss Apex Queen heads for National Deputy Organising Secretary office if not last meeting opposition.

Other major contenders for the coveted offices are Amb. Roland Chidi Owualah of Face of Culture Nigeria and Comrade Prince Ustry of Queen Of Gold Africa to slug it out for the juicy position of National Treasurer. While the battle ground for supremacy when other contestants Join the race are Public Relations Officer contested by Usman Moses Omoaka of Queen of The Federal Republic Of Nigeria, Amb. The election of new executives is expected to reposition the pageant industry as stakeholders are already showing interest in the process.
