As someone who is very critical of the current APC government, I would have jumped on this thread to insult and condemn the Lagos state governor, HE Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
But I have never allowed my opinion about the Tinubu-led disaster called a government to affect my objectivity.
I respond to issues on their merit and not with a prior mindset.
Having said that, I want to say that there is nothing wrong with what Sanwo-Olu did.
The reason is that he didn't travel to the UK just to go and receive Tinubu.
Sanwo-Olu was there for a Strategist Investment Roundtable organised by the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) in partnership with the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CEIC).
As the investment hub of Africa, lagos will be hosting the Invest Lagos 3.0 summit in June this year, and it is only crucial that the governor seizes the opportunity of the roundtable to promote and project that summit.
Him being in the UK at a time the president is visiting only makes it logical for him to receive him.
Even though it's not the best of times for the Nigerian president to leave the country!

Initially I thought he was part of the entourage, but reading further I got to understand he was already in the UK, and since the leader of his home country, his political father and mentor was visiting it was only natural that he sees it fit to join the welcome team.

That said, I'm not by any means supporting the visit by Tinubu. In fact I'm among those who believe that given the current security issues, he should have at very least postponed this visit.

Lagos on the other hand, is relatively okay, and being an investment hub, nothing wrong in Sawu-Olu seeking such opportunities overseas. If it were say Zulum whose state is fire, then it's a different case.

Bottom line is, folks should calm down. Sawolu can be criticized on a host of other actions he's taken, but not this particular one.

I think there are three major forces preventing Oando’s price from rising.

First, most of the recent buyers appear to be traders looking for quick profits. They want to cash out fast, people like Peter, for example. Any news that does not strongly support the stock can easily trigger a rapid exit.

Second, some investors are taking profits because of the rights issue. If you are confident that you can obtain a good quantity at ₦50, then selling anything above ₦50 plus brokerage fees is essentially locking in free profit.

Third, there are long-term holders who may want to exit and redeploy their capital into stronger companies. The truth is that Oando is not performing particularly well on a fundamental basis, even though it still has potential.

When I opened Morgan’s iTrade this morning around 10:20 and saw the large number of offers compared to bids, I immediately suspected the price would fall today.

The easiest way for Oando’s price to move upward would be sustained positive news. For example, a major spike in oil prices, maybe to $180–$200, could help. But, even that scenario comes with its own set of problems.
