What is wrong with this thread? https://www.nairaland.com/1279638/jesus-did-not-invent-new

Manmustwac, maybe it's time you up your game and start banning anti-atheist threads here as well.

Where god has failed miserably, science can help out.

You need a good plastic surgeon. You will be amazed what science can achieve in the face of the abject failure that is god and religion.

Puts on Obadiah cap.

YOU HEATHEN READETH THE SCRIPTURE SIDEWAYS. DAVID WAS NOT REAL AND THE BABY WAS NOT REAL. DAVID MEANS ISREAL AND THE BABY MEANS INHERITANCE OF ISREAL. WHEN THE PASSAGE SAID THAT GOD TOOK AWAY THE CHILD BY KILLING IT, IT MEANT THAT GOD TOOK AWAY THE INHERITANCE BUT TO RESTORE THE INHERITANCE, HE SENT JESUS TO DIE INSTEAD.

Puts of cap.

Yes you do, but for the wrong reasons. My point being even the acceleration isn't the result of a 'push', or standard motion per se

What is the cause then?

alright i now understand why Newton's law of inertia does not apply here. Am still puzzled, why would the universe be expanding? Since the DE was proposed as an ''anti-force'' to gravity, it seems to be getting stronger than gravity hence, the expansion.

Ask the Big Bangers!
Instead of saying they are observing things of which they have absolutely no clue, they start proposing new forces and anti-forces to make their observations comply with their laws. And when you question the aspects that don't comply, they say the laws doesn't apply.

When I started this thread I was still giving Big Bang some credit. But having going through more documentation during all these discussions, I am now conviced that the whole theory is one big scientific hocus pocus.
Religion / Re: Big-Bang Theory Doesn't Make Enough Sense by alfaman2: 9:08pm On May 02, 2013

Why do you even assume Newton's laws apply to the expansion of space? Space itself is expanding, it is not being moved/pushed.

DE can account for the expansion, in fact, that's the main reason it was proposed. It counters gravity's effects on spacetime, and in fact seems to be growing stronger with time, hence the acceleration.

Read my post again and read what I was responding to. I clearly said the law didn't apply.

Politics / Re: Confirmed - Governor Chime Is Dying. UPDATE!!! by alfaman2: 8:58pm On May 02, 2013
Jonathan Informed.

News coming from Aso Rock says the Presidency have been officially informed of the ailment affecting the governor of Enugu State. Seven delegates from the governor's office went to Abuja today to make the federal executive aware that the deputy governor of Enugu state, Mr Sunday Onyebuchi, is now handling all the official affairs of the state.

Stay tuned for more.

mmmh Area Boy..in other words, we can draw an analogy albeit how crude between gravity/dark energy and centripetal/centrifugal force. Since we know that gravity is all pervading and in your words ''sucks in', in other to explain the observed receding/expanding universe, one should safely posit that there 'should' be an opposite but 'equal' force which tries to cancel out the effect of gravity over the universe, just like in a spinning wheel, where the centripetal and centrifugal forces counters each other to keep the wheel on its axle. So the dark energy could then be said to be an INTRINSIC property of the universe. Even though we might not know its nature and the particle through which it is propagated like graviton for gravity.

The point where i've always being stuck is with the idea that 'if' gravity and DE are complementary, why is the universe still expanding? Since there will be zero net force acting on the universe. Or does newtons law of inertia comes into play here?.

You cannot apply Newton's law of inertia on this for the simple reason that the expansion of the universe is accelerating. For the law to apply, the rate of expansion should have to main constant but evidently, it isn't.

So it is either the law doesn't apply or another yet unknown force is accelerating the expansion of the universe.

I thought so because reading your posts reminds me the symptoms one get from knocking one's head on the floor many times during the day all life long. Damaged brain cells start reacting differently.
Symptoms:
- patient stops making sense
- has more need to knock head on floor more often. (like an addiction)
- shows signs of violence
- becomes intolerant of the world around him
- mostly cover themselves up from head to toe.
- exclude themselves from others
- in extreme cases, patients blow themselves up.

Your case is well known so I don't have to indulge you. We know how it's all going to end.

Politics / Confirmed - Governor Chime Is Dying. UPDATE!!! by alfaman2: 12:51pm On May 02, 2013
Reliable sources have informed me that the honourable governor is on the brink of death. At the time of reporting, he is still alive and on life support but doctors expect him to give up the ghost one of these days.

I will update as soon as I get more information.

Pray for him.

Most Nairaland Christians are anti-knowledge(check threads with topics like "Russian billionaire plans to make humans immortal by the year 2015" etc) and you will be appalled at the level of opposition to new scientific knowledge but to call them illiterates?Man that is off key!!!

Nairaland Christians are but a tiny proportion of christianity. And those are the "educated ones". Imagine what the rest are like.
No. Don't imagine. Just attend any church next sunday and try to speak with one of them.

It should be about the observable universe solely, based mostly on results, not predictions.

I would say BB is relevant to everything inside our version of spacetime, basically the entire universe as far as we know.

We are already diving into my older thread about the antrophic principle. If in theory we cannot access anything out of the observable universe and it cannot affect us in anyway, then how relevant is it? Perhaps that's another matter though.

Then those scientists should make it clear that their Big Bang created the observable universe only.
