Yet some people still take this prayer for granted expecially those in lagos. Its time for prayers but you still see loads of them unkept, managing their daily business pushing loads and selling perishables or begging along the mile 12 and ketu axis. May Allah guide us all.

Islam for Muslims / The Importance Of Friday And Jumma Prayer by Aliyu333: 8:30am On Feb 24, 2017
Friday is the sixth day in Islamic week. The literal meaning of Friday is congregation. In islam, this day is given the most importance than any other days of the week. Every Friday, Prayer of Jummah is offered and for this prayer special time is taken. Imams of all masjids deliver khutbah on a special topic every Friday.

From various ahadith, it is proven that Prophet Muhammadﷺused to celebrate this day and he declared jummah as weekly eid for muslims. He ﷺ used to wear clean and new (washed) clothes, used to take bath, wear fragrance, wear surmah for this day specially.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺdescribed the virtues of Jummah prayer in the following hadith with these words;

”When the Friday comes, at every door of the Masjid there stands Angels who write down (the names of) those who come First, then who comes next. When the Imam sits down, the records are closed and they come to listen to the reminder , i.e. the Khutba….” Muslim 1984.

From authentic ahadith, it is taken that Prophet Muhammad ﷺadvised Muslims to recite surah al-Kahf on every Friday to keep safe from the fitnah of dajjal.

While the fast on Jummah is forbidden i.e. the single fast in a week cannot be observed on jummah but it can be observed in pair i.e. with Thursday or with Saturday.

From the history, it is proven that Jummah was most important day for the previous nations as well. It is still considered a blessed day in many religions for example Hinduism. Thus, Friday is considered a special and important day right from the very beginning of humanity.

Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that Allah’s Apostle ﷺsaid, “Any person who takes a bath on Friday like the bath of Janaba and then goes for the prayer (in the first hour i.e. early), it is as if he had sacrificed a camel (in Allah’s cause); and whoever goes in the second hour it is as if he had sacrificed a cow; and whoever goes in the third hour, then it is as if he had sacrificed a horned ram; and if one goes in the fourth hour, then it is as if he had sacrificed a hen; and whoever goes in the fifth hour then it is as if he had offered an egg. When the Imam comes out (i.e. starts delivering the Khutba), the angels present themselves to listen to the Khutba.” Bukhari,2:425, Muslim,2:582 ( Book of Friday Prayer)

Imam Bukhari and Muslim reported that Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺhad said, "We (Muslims) came last and yet we are the first on the day of judgment. They have received the books before us (meaning Torah and Injil). We have received the book after them (meaning the Qur’an). Friday was their day to be glorified. However, they disputed on that while Allah had told us Friday is the day to glorify. Thus they will follow us. The Jews glorify Saturday, and the Christians glorify Sunday."

Also reported by Imam Muslim, Abu-Dawood, Al-Nasai, and Al-Tirmizi, that Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺhad said, "The best day during which the sun have risen is Friday. It is the Day Adam was created. It is the day when Adam entered paradise and also when he was taken out from it. It is also the day on which the Day of Judgment takes place."

Rasulallah ﷺis reported to have said, “Recite Durood upon me in abundance on the day of Jummah since they are presented to me.” (Ibn Majah)

TV/Movies / Much Ado About Big Brother Naija by Aliyu333: 10:48am On Feb 23, 2017
The Big Brother Naija Reality TV show has been a subject of debate since it began broadcasting in January. And as the days have progressed, the arguments for and against its relevance have become more heated on social media. It’s not a new development. Since the first Big Brother Africa show made its debut in 2003, and the Nigerian version was first aired in 2006, it has courted controversy; plenty of controversy. Apart from the “strange” idea of having a group of strangers living together in a confined space without the trappings of gadgets and activities that accompany daily life, there was always going to be concern about what the housemates who are full-fledged adults would get up to within a period of three months where they would have nothing much to occupy them save for interacting with one another.

Years down the line, the show has remained more controversial than ever. With more awareness about the Big Brother franchise has come a closer scrutiny of the activities of the housemates. The current housemates are young people from different parts of the country who have chosen to stake their claim to a N25m and brand new SUV prize. However, what has caught the attention of the viewing public is the level of mischief these contestants have got up to in just a month into the show.

In less than a month, viewers have witnessed what many consider inappropriate behaviour by the housemates, and in typical Nigerian fashion have condemned the show as one which encourages immorality. The dalliance between ThinTallTony, who is married (but has managed to keep that part of his life a secret so far), and Bisola, a single mother, has made many uncomfortable. And this development has once again called to question not just the essence of the Big Brother franchise, but the reason corporate bodies are disposed to sponsoring it as opposed to educational and informative programmes.

First of all, the Big Brother series is one that has never pretended to be what it’s not. It was and still remains a social experiment aimed at studying the dynamics of the relationships between a set of strangers who are selected to live together within a period of time, and what length they would go within the limits of the rules of the game to win a certain amount of money. That’s it! It doesn’t make a show of being educating or projecting moral values. It is simply a game. Application is voluntary and anyone who applies to take part is believed to be aware of what they are getting into. It also explains why the show never admits anyone less than 21 years old, and is rated 18 for viewers.

Critics probably know this already, but really don’t care. They are more concerned about why organisations would rather spend their money on a 24-hour entertainment reality show instead of initiatives that promote education, career development and capacity building, such as the Cowbell Mathematics Competition sponsored by Promasdor, and the now rested “The Debaters” and “Dragon’s Den” sponsored by GTBank and UBA respectively. We do not have nearly enough of these programmes which have a significant impact on the future of youths of this country, particularly at this time of economic downturn. And I agree with them. Big Brother Nigeria is a waste of valuable resources that could have been channelled into better use. I do not necessarily agree with this part.

This is a good time to remind those who have knocked the show that no one has the right to dictate what an individual spends their money on, let alone a corporate body. I am sure the headline sponsors of the Big Brother Naija, PayPorte, weighed the pros and cons before opting to invest in it. And for the average company, profit maximisation trumps every other thing. We can criticise them all we want, but the management of PayPorte aren’t stupid. If they didn’t believe they would get adequate return on investment from sponsoring the show, they would have stayed far away from it. It’s purely business. We can pontificate all we want, but in a recession where companies are winding up daily, it’s probably the best decision for them.

Isn’t it even interesting and bemusing how many are vocal in their criticism of the show, yet the ratings are going higher every day? Did anyone listen to all the stats reeled out by Ebuka, its host about its viewership on TV and following on social media? And if you doubt him, all you need to do is visit all the social media platforms to experience the level of engagement and talk the show is generating. Are the people who are watching and tweeting about it ghosts?

@Haroldwrites conducted a Twitter poll which asked if people would renew their DSTV/GOTV subscription solely for the purpose of watching Big Brother Naija. Fifty nine per cent voted yes, and 41 per cent voted no. This confirms that people actually love the show in spite of all the criticisms. It’s one of our biggest problems. We come out to condemn many things in public, yet enjoy these same things in private. Who then is fooling who?

How many of us would actually take time out to watch this educating programmes we clamour for? How many watched the ones I mentioned above? How many watch “The Weakest Link”, the long running British television game show, hosted by Anne Robinson? How many tune in to Cowbellpedia any time it airs? I’d bet my last kobo that the ratings on these shows are not up to half of what obtains for Big Brother Naija. Have we stopped to consider why “The Wedding Party”, a comedy, is the highest grossing movie at the cinemas till date? And if you argue that it’s because it was well-marketed, then what will you say about Ay, the comedian’s “A Trip To Jamaica” which is the second highest grossing movie in the Nigerian Box Office? What does it tell you about Nigerians and the kind of stuff we like to watch?

I watch Big Brother Naija. I am a fan of the show. If I were in the position to determine the sort of programmes my organisation sponsors, would I choose to sponsor Big Brother Naija ahead of something that would promote entrepreneurship for instance? No. But I will not deny that it offers the perfect distraction from my personal struggles and the ones automatically imposed on me by virtue of being a Nigerian.

Oftentimes, after a hard day’s work, I prefer to see something that isn’t so serious on TV. And let’s face it, the media never has good news most of the time. Also, there’s such a thing as personal preference, and I believe people should be allowed to watch what they feel like watching without being made to feel guilty for it.

Big Brother was created for the sole purpose of entertainment (and yes, to make one person rich). It should suffice as that.

Deal with the number of Christians turning Atheists and number of Churches converted to Mosques. Unless you are pastor milking your people of their hard earned money you shall truly reconsider your priorities in life.

Religion / How UK Professor Arthur Allison Got Converted To Islam by Aliyu333: 4:11pm On Feb 21, 2017
A UK professor, Arthur Allison, has narrated the beautiful story of his conversion to Islam.

The professor who is the head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in the University of London got acquainted with Islam during his course of study of religions.

According to Professor Allison, Islam is the religion of truth and inborn nature with which Allah has created man. He also said he bears witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is the Prophet of Allah.

"The moment I uttered Shahadah, I was overwhelmed by a strange and ineffable feeling mingled with ease, comfort and satisfaction."
In an interview given to the Arabic-weekly, Al-Muslimoon, the professor narrated the story of his conversion to Islam saying:

“In the course of my study of psychology and related subjects as the president of the British Society for Psychological and Spiritual Studies, I got acquainted with religions. I studied Hinduism, Buddhism and some other religions and creeds. When I studied Islam, I compared it to other religions.

"During the conference on Medical Illimitability in the Quran, I could realize that the difference was great. Then I was convinced that Islam is the most proper religion that befits my inborn nature and conduct. In the heart of my heart I had felt that there is a God controlling the Universe. He is the Creator.

Therefore, when I studied Islam, I found that it did not conflict with reason and science. I believe that is the revealed religion from the one and only God. As I witnessed the truth, I uttered the two testimonies. The moment I uttered Shahadah, I was overwhelmed by a strange and ineffable feeling mingled with ease, comfort and satisfaction.”

Prof Abdullah Alison presented in the conference the meaning of the Qur’anic verse:” It is Allah Who takes away the souls at the time of their death, and those that die not during their sleep. He keeps those (souls) for which He has ordained death and sends the rest for a term appointed. Verily, in this are signs for a people who think deeply.” (Surat Az-Zumar “The Groups”: 42).

Through this verse, he said, they could prove that death and sleep are similar phenomena in which souls depart from the body. In the case of sleep, the soul returns to the body but in death it does not. This verse reminds us that “taking the souls” means both sleep and death. This fact has been proved through parapsychological studies.

This strongly indicates that Islam is the religion of ultimate truth and that it can be proved so not only spiritually but also through strong scientific facts approved by all scientists all over the world.

Crime / Two Men To Die By Hanging For Armed Robbery by Aliyu333: 12:42pm On Feb 21, 2017
An Iwo High Court Judge in Osun, Justice Moshood Adeigbe, on Monday sentenced two men, Sunday Ishaih and his friend, Akeem Lamidi to death by hanging for armed robbery.

The duo were arraigned earlier on a two-count charge of conspiracy to commit robbery and armed robbery

Adeigbe in his ruling said that the state prosecutor had proven his case beyond any reasonable doubt.

He said that it was established that the duo committed the robbery offences.

The judge, therefore, pronounced the duo guilty and sentenced them to death by hanging.

Earlier, the state Prosecuting Counsel, Mr Bamidele Salawu, told court that the defendants on May 2, 2012, armed with guns, invaded the residence of one Mrs Aladete at Asabi Okin in Iwo.

Salawu said the accused forcefully gained entrance into their victim’s apartment by breaking the wall into her sitting room.

He told the court that the woman was thoroughly beaten by the accused.

The prosecutor said that the accused stole some items from the house of the victim along with her official vehicle.

Salawu said the two men were later arrested at Ibafo in Ogun by officials of the Nigeria Police, when they were about selling the stolen vehicle.

He said the offences contravened Section 6 (b) and section 1 (1) and (2), (a) of the Robbery and Fire Arms (Special Provisions) Act Cap. R, 11 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

The convicts had pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Counsel to the accused Mr C.N.N. Okwusidi, pleaded with the judge to temper justice with mercy in his ruling but his plea was not answered. (NAN)

Crime / Task Force Officials Batter LASU Student For Videoing Operation by Aliyu333: 12:12pm On Feb 21, 2017
A 500-level part-time Business Administration student of the Lagos State University is battling with a broken arm and injuries allegedly inflicted on her face by operatives of the Lagos State Taskforce on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit.

The student, 28-year-old Sewuese Matthew, was reportedly battered for using her foster sister’s mobile phone to video the operation of the officials on Durosimi-Etti Drive, in the Lekki Phase 1 area of the state.

The foster sister, Lilian Ifemeludike, told PUNCH Metro that she was also assaulted by the task force men.

It was learnt that Ifemeludike and Matthew had gone to repair a punctured tyre at a vulcaniser’s stand on the estate when a team of enforcement agents stormed the area, seizing the machine for allegedly causing environmental nuisance.

Our correspondent gathered that the vulcaniser begged the officials, while Ifemeludike also urged the officials to allow him to repair the tyre.

Matthew, in a chat with PUNCH Metro on Monday, said she decided to record with the phone when the scene turned rowdy, but was caught by an operative, who allegedly punched her in the face.

She said other officials joined in the assault, pummeling her and Ifemeludike and later seizing the phone.

The student said, “On Wednesday, February 8, my sister and I were going out of the estate in her car, when the car had a flat tyre. While we were at the vulcanizer’s place trying to fix the tyre, the task force officials stormed the area and packed wares displayed by the roadside.

“There was chaos and some people were filming what was happening. I also tried to do so while my sister was pleading with them. A tall policeman among them walked up to me, snatched the phone and started punching me.

“I ran to my sister, crying. He smashed the phone on the ground and she picked it. The officer and other policemen chased her and started hitting her until they collected the phone from her. I rushed there and pleaded with them to leave her. They punched me in the mouth, face and neck. I also broke my hand.”

Matthew stated that they followed the officials to the task force office in Oshodi and reported the incident to the task force Chairman, SP Olayinka Egbeyemi, who condemned the assault.

“But when the officials appeared before the chairman, they told him a different story, saying we insulted them. The chairman then vowed to deal with us and we were detained. The next morning, they charged us to court in Ogba. I could not meet up my bail conditions that day, so I was taken to the Kirikiri Prison without my injuries being treated. I was released on Friday when the bail was perfected and I went to the Lagos Island General Hospital for treatment,” she added.

Ifemeludike, a United Nations Women Empowerment champion, said the officials’ conduct was a breach of the enforcement ethics, saying her phone, a Samsung Galaxy S7, had yet to be released.

“What pained me most was the fact that they punched my sister in the eye. They could have arrested her if they felt she had done something wrong.

“Security operatives need to know when to use force and understand that they are dealing with humans. We were wrongly charged to court and my sister is still traumatised by what she went through in Kirikiri,” she said.

The Public Relations Officer, National Association of Nigerian Students, Idowu Odebunmi, said the association would hold a protest against the alleged assault on February 28.

“Police abuse remains one of the most serious human rights violations in the world. There have been several reports of unjustified shootings, unlawful arrests, extortion, unlawful killings and rough treatment meted out to students, with the most recent being an unjustifiable attack unleashed on one of our female students, Sewuese Matthew,” he added.

The spokesperson for the task force, Taofiq Adebayo, stated that videoing contravened the law of the agency, adding that the phone was being kept as an exhibit.

Politics / Outrage As Indian-packaged Garri Sells In Nigeria - Punch by Aliyu333: 11:25am On Feb 21, 2017
Nigerians on Monday expressed outrage after it emerged that Indian-packaged garri was being sold in the country.

The garri is packed in a 500g bag, which has the picture of a lady and an inscription, ‘TRS’ (Asia’s Finest Foods) on it, with a price tag of N450.

The Executive Director, Natural Nutrient Limited, Sola Adeniyi, expressed dismay at the development in a post entitled, “Attention: Indian garri being sold in Nigerian supermarkets,” which he shared on WhatsApp.

According to Adeniyi, who is an agribusiness development value chain expert, the sale of the Indian-packaged garri in Nigeria is an absurdity of monumental proportion and a shame.

He said, “Our government and regulatory agencies (if they still exist) should cover their faces in shame. I would like to ask: how much were you paid in bribe? Is this how far we are mentally bankrupt? We are indeed in a big mess in this nation. Can you imagine imported garri from India now selling in shops in Nigeria and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control approved this?

“So, we finally have consigned our dear country to a dumping ground for all forms of Asian mindless madness. Nigeria is the world’s largest producer of cassava for crying out loud, but here we are shamelessly displaying Indian-made garri and not corn flakes on our shelves.

Nigerians also took to the social media space to condemn the act, one of them writing on Nairaland with the user name, smartiyke78, said, “I am ashamed of this country called Nigeria.

“The other day, it was imported packaged jollof rice from India or China. As if that embarrassment was not enough, now this is garri. What a shame to all who call themselves leaders and decision makers. Could this be the result of the incessant unprofitable travels the President was making?

“I just hope Nigeria has not been sold out in the name of some clueless economic partnership.”

Another user, Dauda Abu, wrote, “Nigeria is the largest producer of cassava. How on earth should we be importing garri into our market? We are not encouraging our industry to grow at all.”

Following the outrage, NAFDAC raided the shop located along Cameron Road, Ikoyi, Lagos.

According to the Acting Director-General of NAFDAC, Mrs. Yetunde Oni, the agency’s officers visited the supermarket on Monday and seized 26 packs of the product for analysis.

“The product has no NAFDAC number. It is said to be from Ghana but packaged in the United Kingdom. The management of the supermarket has been invited for further discussion in our Lagos office and investigation continues,” she said in a text message in response to an enquiry by our correspondent.

Also can someone add any states from his/her region except from the one they are from?
this made be remember someone who badly wants to serve in kaduna only. Well so she picked lagos-- d competitive tin u know, Abuja-- same with lagos and then Edo--- which she put as one of the preferred states she has visited before and then kaduna. Well she was given Edo in the end. So those visited states thing dont really matter--- they know we will cheat.
So run from putting Jigawa ( if you dont want it at all) or you might end up getting it. Pick states base on preference and pray over it.

Crime / Passenger Kills Motorcyclist Over N50 by Aliyu333: 10:42am On Feb 15, 2017
Samson Folarin

A disagreement over N50 has led to the death of a motorcyclist, Michael Eze, in the Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Forty-year-old Eze was allegedly killed by his passenger, Michael Gabriel, around 9pm on February 2, 2017, for demanding that N50 be added to their agreed fare due to the length of the journey.

Gabriel, in a fit of anger, allegedly hit the victim with an iron rod in the head, which made him to collapse.

He was rushed to a private hospital in the community where he was confirmed dead.

Policemen from the state command arrested the suspect.

A resident, who did not want to be identified, said Gabriel was close to his house when the incident happened.

He said, “When the rider saw that the house was farther than what Garbiel described to him, he insisted that N50 must be added to the fare they agreed on. That was what led to the disagreement.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Amaraizu Ebere, confirmed the incident.

He explained that the police had yet to establish the cause of the disagreement.

He said, “The suspect is helping operatives of the command in their investigations.”

Politics / Trump Calls Buhari, Hails Fg's Anti Terror War – Punch Newspapers by Aliyu333: 10:01am On Feb 14, 2017

Politics / Nobody Wants Buhari Dead But Lai, Adesina Are Not Telling Us The Truth- Adebanjo by Aliyu333: 8:52am On Feb 12, 2017
In this interview with TOLUWANI ENIOLA, a chieftain of Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, says the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, and President Muhammadu Buhari’s spokespersons have not been sincere in their communication of the President’s health status

What is your reaction to the President’s indefinite postponement of his return to Nigeria?

I wish him well and pray for his quick recovery.

Do you think the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, and Femi Adesina are saying the truth about the President’s health status?

I was listening to Lai Mohammed last night. He said the President is hale and hearty. Using the phrase “hale and hearty” for the President who went to the UK on a 10-day leave and had to extend it, shows something is not right.

First, Nigerians were told that Buhari was going on vacation and that he would do checkup. At the end of the 10 days, we were told his doctor asked him to wait to obtain the result of some medical tests, and he comes out again to tell us he is hale and hearty. From their evidence, both Lai Mohammed and the Femi Adesina are talking nonsense. One said the President is sick. Mohammed said he is hale and hearty. Yet when the time came for him to resume, he didn’t.

Are you saying they are lying?

We should ask: does one do medical tests for somebody who is hale and hearty? That is their language. I am only criticising them based on the evidence they provided. They (Mohammed and Adesina) are inconsistent, incoherent and they do not show sincerity (in their communication of the president’s health status). I am not a fool. Nigerians are not fools.

They are being economical with the truth. Adesina and Mohammed are talking balderdash. They are taking us for a ride. My own experience is that when somebody is sick and you can’t say what is wrong with him, doctors would ask such a fellow to do a series of test. And yet you tell us the man is hale and hearty.

Nobody wants Buhari dead but they are not telling us the truth. Human beings can fall sick, which is natural. What is wrong in saying this man has an ailment? It is now left for people to pray for speedy recovery. Yet, our hopes were raised that there is nothing wrong with the man and yet he cannot resume. They forget that all of us have a stake in his health. They are insulting our intelligence.

Some have been clamouring for a law to stop public office-holders from seeking medical treatment abroad. Is this reasonable?

A law like that may infringe on individual’s rights. We can only say if any public office-holder wants medical treatment abroad, it should not be at the expense of the country. If a public office-holder feels that the medical service he desires cannot be obtained here, he can go abroad but not at public’s expense.

What is your comment on Buhari’s refusal to use the Aso Rock clinic despite the huge budget voted for it?

It is a fundamental issue for us in this country to equip our hospitals so that nobody would have to go abroad for medical treatment. This is one of the things we want the government to change and proffer solutions to. We have the expertise but we lack the equipment.

What is the difference between the secrecy surrounding the late Umar Yar’Adua’s health and that of President Buhari? Have any lessons been learnt?

The present President wrote to the National Assembly that he was travelling abroad on vacation. He also handed over to the Vice-President. So, there is really no problem about that since he followed the constitutional provision. But in the case of Yar’Adua, the late president didn’t write to the National Assembly and he did not hand over to the vice-president.

Do you think Buhari should address Nigerians from the UK and disclose his health status?

We should understand that the President, by the virtue of his position, no longer has any privacy. Nigerians are entitled to know every progress about his health. Those who are demonstrating in the UK were doing the legitimate thing because the citizens over there are well-informed about the medical status of their leaders. Why should our own be different? The same obtains in the United States. When things are not going well, we attribute it to Nigerian factor. Good governance has a standard. When we don’t follow democratic norms and principles, that is when people will keep protesting.

Did the APC make a good decision fielding Buhari as its presidential candidate based on his health?

I have no comment about that. They picked him so who am I to condemn their decision? It is for them now to decide. If they had known, they should be blaming themselves now. Anybody can fall sick.

The Federal Government has been assuring Nigerians that things would change. With two years to the end of this administration, do you really think there is light at the end of the tunnel?

Let us not deceive ourselves. From the outset, I was one of those who said it was too early to criticise Buhari. But going to two years now, things are going worse, that is the evidence. Yet, they (FG) continue to blame the previous government. That is not right. The All Progressives Congress said it would do better which was why it was voted into power. Now, they are saying something else. There is no light at the end of the tunnel because the instruments responsible for their non-performance have not been changed. You can’t achieve change when the right method is not in place.

It took Buhari six months to form his cabinet. Up till now, there is no economic programme. I don’t buy any jargon or propaganda that there is hope. They are preparing a solution that by the time it comes to fruition, everybody would be in the grave. That is what is happening now. Everybody is complaining. Even the middle class finds it difficult to go to the market. And the government keeps telling us to be patient. Some people are committing suicide. So, by the time your programmes are achieved, who will enjoy it?

Recently, former President Olusegun Obasanjo said the Igbo should have a go at the Presidency. Do you agree?

Why do you people give credence to Obasanjo? Obasanjo is a troublemaker. Seventy per cent of the problems we have in this country were caused by Obasanjo. He has never been consistent. He said (former President Goodluck) Jonathan didn’t do well and changed the tone later. Is that the type of man you want me to rely on? He likes to cause confusion and problems. If he says something today, tomorrow he will say that was not what he meant. I don’t give any regard to his statement.

The question you need to ask yourself is, why is the first segment of the bible regarded as old while the second segment regarded as new?

Just apply your basic English common sense of "old" and "new". That will help. Maybe I need to help you as well.

Ok...just as an example. When a new edition of a text book is published, it simply means that a lot of changes maybe in science or new discoveries have been added by the author. And some (not all) of the content of the old edition textbook can no more be good enough to make one pass a qualifying examinations.

Mind you, that doesn't mean that the old edition textbook is now completely useless. It's just that some formula and theories in it may no more comply with the latest and new realities and discoveries. Hence the new edition. The new edition may be to totally phase out the old edition or it may be to readdress some issues as contained in the old edition.

So it's not by accident that the bible is segmented into old and new. So the new testament is to address all the terrible and deadly laws of the old testament. Now instead of getting heinous punishment and death for transgression of the law, Jesus now gives forgiveness and new life like in the case of the adulterous woman that they wanted to stone. He told her to sin no more. And that should be the case.We have all committed the same sins worthy of death at least once in our life. But no one caught us in the act to stone us to death. So why should we now be the one to stone others?

Hence Jesus said:
2 Cor 5:17 the old things have passed away; behold all things have become new ...
You guys will do whatever and justify whatever to deny old testament, even as far as using an unrelated verse in 2 Corinthians that was talking about new acceptor in jesus and how their old past is washed away.
Mathew 5:18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
Luke 16:17 But it is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for one dot of the Law to become void.
You guys really need to settle between urselves and the bible.
NYSC / North Is Safe For Corps Members - DG by Aliyu333: 12:29pm On Feb 11, 2017
Really?
Enyioha Opara, Minna

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Suleiman Kazaure, has admonished corps members to stop seeking relocation from the North to other states, saying the region is no longer volatile.

According to him, more than 50 per cent of corps members sent to the North usually seek relocation to other parts of the country.

Kazure told Saturday PUNCH that the recent development has not encouraged unity in diversity which the scheme preaches and stands for.

Addressing the 2016 Batch B Stream 2 corps members at the Niger State Permanent Orientation Camp in Paiko on Friday, Kazaure urged the corps members to keep an open mind and give the North a chance.

Kazaure, who was represented by the Director of Information and Communications Technology, Mrs. Christy Uba, said, “Do not dwell on the negative things you have heard about the North; do not seek relocation.

“I want to assure you that the people of the North are peaceful and friendly. Keep an open mind and give it a chance and a trial. Your being posted here was not by mistake; stay here and make some impact on the people of the state.”

The DG then encouraged the corps members to share their challenges with state and local government coordinators and desist from taking their grievances to the social media.”

In her address, the Niger State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Theresa Arokoyo, lamented the security challenges being faced at the camp, while calling on the state government to give corps members a permanent orientation camp that will be more secure.
