Superbrain: I totally agree with you Aliyu because I've personally experienced both situations. In 2009 after graduating from university, I really wanted to study abroad for an MSc. I ended up using all my savings (almost 200k) to write the GRE, TOEFL and pay numerous application fees. Things didn't work out on the scholarship end despite all the hard work so I decided to take a break, work a bit but still pursue my dreams.
Fast-forward to 2015, I had saved up a lot more and now decided to pursue an MBA. Experience had taught me to be tactical and I was finally able to do my MBA last year all on a full scholarship. While finances may be a limitation, it's all about planning and staying focused. I could have given up after 2009 if I wanted to (by the way, I didn't have a job then and my financial situation was not good).
Just like the OP mentioned, the reason most people do not get opportunities is because they do not attempt in the first place. It takes a lot of work and grit to go after some scholarships but in the end, it all pays off. There is free money to pursue one's dreams but that money needs to be gotten with hard work and tenaciousness. Therein lies the true value of the scholarship.
Believe you can and pursue with all you have. Once you are focused on your goals and plan accordingly, you would achieve whatever you want. Delay is definitely not denial though delay can take a while, longer than we anticipate sometimes.
Okay Sir. Ur 2009 experience is my current one, though difference is I dont have enough savings to write those exams for now. So I guess I will still hold unto hope u knw. If you dont mind Sir, what's the name of the scholarship u got the full waiver from?.
I dont think scholarships today are actually free. I mean yea you might not need to pay a dime to get the scholarship, but the process to go through is for the okay class. I mean most masters scholarships demand a GMAT costing up to 75k a test of English costing up to 80k, a transcript costing 20k, and a whole lot of other nitty gritty. To some the above is just a piece of cake, but in a family where u hardly have one meal a day you will understand what I meant. So its okay to fear. That been said, it is very good to try, those money can never equal the value of what you will get IF you get the scholarship. No harm in trying, the future is bright.
yom2: she is not, d south was robbed of those states
robbed? And how far is the closest southern state to Benue?? It is base on geopolitical zone incase u forgot geography nd not language or how they look like.
ebonyeyes88: Look I don't know you from a rat's coon azz. I haven't derailed any thread that's already been wack in the beginning. Either leave me alone or just tightly hold your balls I'm coming for you next.
Chriswazo: babe Lagos and Ogun are Southwest States, it should be one state per geopolitical zone.
well u didn't quote but I just thought I should say something. I heared some people saying lagos is not categorized under any of the classified geopolitical zone in the registration. Its on it own, so she can put it along ogun if what I heared is true.
TWIXTED: Call up letter coming out tomorrow.... Camp date iz on thursday this week (12th). My aunt who iz a camp official called to inform me everything is set. U can start checking from 12am tomorrow. I really dont care of u biliv or not coz by this time tomorrow dat wouldnt really matter.

Chrisozone: Is that their house after all this year's of her success moving from Liverpool to arsenal
whatif the building is in process?? You cant just av some money and quickly build house, there are several immediate priorities out there which could be speculative, transactionary, or even precautionary
Akemim: Can u throw more light on their "core northern states"
core northern states are believed to be those in the northwest like kaduna, kano, katsina, sokoto, zamfara, jigawa and kebbi and also the northeast with the likes of borno, gombe, taraba, yobe, bauchi and adamawa while the north central is excluded, so states like plateau, nassarawa, benue, kogi, kwara, niger and abuja are not core northern states if you look at it that way.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? ... I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Matthew 7:21-23
abbey621: The more I hear about this, the more I think it's a scam or publicity stunt. You mean to tell me 2Face, WizKid and so many celebs cannot contribute enough money to save this man's life? Are celebrities really so cruel towards each other....SHAME!
no be only stunt na gymnastic. They not donating doesn't make the issue false alarm. The man has been suffering from kidney for five years, and all you can do is say shit.
happney65: I guess he is referring to the case of Emma Ugolee..Emma has being spending over 500K every month for the past 5 years. .Heard me right..Shey na poor Person dey spend that amount?Hunnnnnnmnn..He had to come solicit for funds in the public when he needed 50Million naira..
Now they might have investments business etc..But they don't have 50Million sitting down in cash somewhere..And this is an urgent operation that must be done..Would you blame him if he comes out soliciting for funds?Capital Noo..
When you haven't worked in someone's shoes you won't know how it is...
Its only in Nigeria that this becomes a big issue. Musicians shouldn't be expected to release some trashy, repetitive, senseless songs monthly. Good singers take there time, and then the wait is worth it. Atleast that how it is out there. Adele took a 3years hiatus, and please isn't her single HELLO worth the wait?.
statistical: Where are my UNN graduates, let form the tent of super lion and lioness here. We rocks!!!! BATCH A will be a hit back-2-back by Gods grace.
Ogun/Lagos/Oyo/Ekiti.

guruvicawelt: those of u planning to relocate make sure u get person for abuja. Nysc can b cruel.. i have someone who wanted to relocate to Lagos on health ground them nack d guy kadunna, not even ogun, oyo or osun dats a lil close to lag. if u wan smart for them, them go troway u go far far and in anoda worst village, then ur stress level will increase, u might not b paid when odas are paid for d first 2months plus no rest for u, only u one go find ur ppa and its not easy finding a gud ppa rite now cus most companies/skuls have enough already..
if not for the close to lag ish, I will tell u kaduna is very okay, probably one among the most developed states in the north.
Sodiq3: Aliyu, how far? Was that girl with 4.80 from your department given any award. I have a very big reservation on how ABU treated the guy with the 4.90CGPA.He is the overall best graduating student but only a laptop was given to him. Or are there other benefits from the management awaiting him apart from that? 4.90 no be beans o..
Brother nothing oooo. She wey get 4.80 nd some wey commot with 4.53 were treated dsame. It was sad though, she deserves something badd. And yes Ibrahim Awofe, the guy from bus admin, they didn't celebrate him as ought to. But who knows?? since his department loves him, they might sponsor him for masters and even retain him.
