PoliticsOutrage As Indian-packaged Garri Sells In Nigeria - Punch by Aliyu333(op): 11:25am On Feb 21, 2017
Nigerians on Monday expressed outrage after it emerged that Indian-packaged garri was being sold in the country.

The garri is packed in a 500g bag, which has the picture of a lady and an inscription, ‘TRS’ (Asia’s Finest Foods) on it, with a price tag of N450.

The Executive Director, Natural Nutrient Limited, Sola Adeniyi, expressed dismay at the development in a post entitled, “Attention: Indian garri being sold in Nigerian supermarkets,” which he shared on WhatsApp.

According to Adeniyi, who is an agribusiness development value chain expert, the sale of the Indian-packaged garri in Nigeria is an absurdity of monumental proportion and a shame.

He said, “Our government and regulatory agencies (if they still exist) should cover their faces in shame. I would like to ask: how much were you paid in bribe? Is this how far we are mentally bankrupt? We are indeed in a big mess in this nation. Can you imagine imported garri from India now selling in shops in Nigeria and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control approved this?

“So, we finally have consigned our dear country to a dumping ground for all forms of Asian mindless madness. Nigeria is the world’s largest producer of cassava for crying out loud, but here we are shamelessly displaying Indian-made garri and not corn flakes on our shelves.

Nigerians also took to the social media space to condemn the act, one of them writing on Nairaland with the user name, smartiyke78, said, “I am ashamed of this country called Nigeria.

“The other day, it was imported packaged jollof rice from India or China. As if that embarrassment was not enough, now this is garri. What a shame to all who call themselves leaders and decision makers. Could this be the result of the incessant unprofitable travels the President was making?

“I just hope Nigeria has not been sold out in the name of some clueless economic partnership.”

Another user, Dauda Abu, wrote, “Nigeria is the largest producer of cassava. How on earth should we be importing garri into our market? We are not encouraging our industry to grow at all.”

Following the outrage, NAFDAC raided the shop located along Cameron Road, Ikoyi, Lagos.

According to the Acting Director-General of NAFDAC, Mrs. Yetunde Oni, the agency’s officers visited the supermarket on Monday and seized 26 packs of the product for analysis.

“The product has no NAFDAC number. It is said to be from Ghana but packaged in the United Kingdom. The management of the supermarket has been invited for further discussion in our Lagos office and investigation continues,” she said in a text message in response to an enquiry by our correspondent.

For example, if I put 4 States like Abia, Ogun, Akwa-ibom, and Jigawa. But I don't want jigawa, will I say that I have visited northern states So that I will be given any of the three state?
Also can someone add any states from his/her region except from the one they are from?
this made be remember someone who badly wants to serve in kaduna only. Well so she picked lagos-- d competitive tin u know, Abuja-- same with lagos and then Edo--- which she put as one of the preferred states she has visited before and then kaduna. Well she was given Edo in the end. So those visited states thing dont really matter--- they know we will cheat.
So run from putting Jigawa ( if you dont want it at all) or you might end up getting it. Pick states base on preference and pray over it.

CrimePassenger Kills Motorcyclist Over N50 by Aliyu333(op): 10:42am On Feb 15, 2017
Samson Folarin

A disagreement over N50 has led to the death of a motorcyclist, Michael Eze, in the Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Forty-year-old Eze was allegedly killed by his passenger, Michael Gabriel, around 9pm on February 2, 2017, for demanding that N50 be added to their agreed fare due to the length of the journey.

Gabriel, in a fit of anger, allegedly hit the victim with an iron rod in the head, which made him to collapse.

He was rushed to a private hospital in the community where he was confirmed dead.

Policemen from the state command arrested the suspect.

A resident, who did not want to be identified, said Gabriel was close to his house when the incident happened.

He said, “When the rider saw that the house was farther than what Garbiel described to him, he insisted that N50 must be added to the fare they agreed on. That was what led to the disagreement.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Amaraizu Ebere, confirmed the incident.

He explained that the police had yet to establish the cause of the disagreement.

He said, “The suspect is helping operatives of the command in their investigations.”

PoliticsTrump Calls Buhari, Hails Fg's Anti Terror War – Punch Newspapers by Aliyu333(op): 10:01am On Feb 14, 2017
Olalekan Adetayo, Abuja

President Muhammadu Buhari was said to have spoken to President Donald Trump on the telephone on Monday afternoon at the request of the American President.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

Adesina described the conversation between the two leaders as cordial.

He quoted Buhari as congratulating Trump on his election as the US President and on his cabinet.

The presidential spokesman said the two leaders discussed ways to improve cooperation in the fight against terrorism through provision of necessary equipment.

The statement read, “President Trump encouraged President Buhari to keep up the good work he is doing, and also commended him for the efforts made in rescuing 24 of the Chibok girls and the strides being taken by the Nigerian military.

“President Trump assured the Nigerian President of US readiness to cut a new deal in helping Nigeria in terms of military weapons to combat terrorism.

“President Trump also invited President Buhari to Washington at a mutually convenient date.”

PoliticsNobody Wants Buhari Dead But Lai, Adesina Are Not Telling Us The Truth- Adebanjo by Aliyu333(op): 8:52am On Feb 12, 2017
In this interview with TOLUWANI ENIOLA, a chieftain of Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, says the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, and President Muhammadu Buhari’s spokespersons have not been sincere in their communication of the President’s health status

What is your reaction to the President’s indefinite postponement of his return to Nigeria?

I wish him well and pray for his quick recovery.

Do you think the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, and Femi Adesina are saying the truth about the President’s health status?

I was listening to Lai Mohammed last night. He said the President is hale and hearty. Using the phrase “hale and hearty” for the President who went to the UK on a 10-day leave and had to extend it, shows something is not right.

First, Nigerians were told that Buhari was going on vacation and that he would do checkup. At the end of the 10 days, we were told his doctor asked him to wait to obtain the result of some medical tests, and he comes out again to tell us he is hale and hearty. From their evidence, both Lai Mohammed and the Femi Adesina are talking nonsense. One said the President is sick. Mohammed said he is hale and hearty. Yet when the time came for him to resume, he didn’t.

Are you saying they are lying?

We should ask: does one do medical tests for somebody who is hale and hearty? That is their language. I am only criticising them based on the evidence they provided. They (Mohammed and Adesina) are inconsistent, incoherent and they do not show sincerity (in their communication of the president’s health status). I am not a fool. Nigerians are not fools.

They are being economical with the truth. Adesina and Mohammed are talking balderdash. They are taking us for a ride. My own experience is that when somebody is sick and you can’t say what is wrong with him, doctors would ask such a fellow to do a series of test. And yet you tell us the man is hale and hearty.

Nobody wants Buhari dead but they are not telling us the truth. Human beings can fall sick, which is natural. What is wrong in saying this man has an ailment? It is now left for people to pray for speedy recovery. Yet, our hopes were raised that there is nothing wrong with the man and yet he cannot resume. They forget that all of us have a stake in his health. They are insulting our intelligence.

Some have been clamouring for a law to stop public office-holders from seeking medical treatment abroad. Is this reasonable?

A law like that may infringe on individual’s rights. We can only say if any public office-holder wants medical treatment abroad, it should not be at the expense of the country. If a public office-holder feels that the medical service he desires cannot be obtained here, he can go abroad but not at public’s expense.

What is your comment on Buhari’s refusal to use the Aso Rock clinic despite the huge budget voted for it?

It is a fundamental issue for us in this country to equip our hospitals so that nobody would have to go abroad for medical treatment. This is one of the things we want the government to change and proffer solutions to. We have the expertise but we lack the equipment.

What is the difference between the secrecy surrounding the late Umar Yar’Adua’s health and that of President Buhari? Have any lessons been learnt?

The present President wrote to the National Assembly that he was travelling abroad on vacation. He also handed over to the Vice-President. So, there is really no problem about that since he followed the constitutional provision. But in the case of Yar’Adua, the late president didn’t write to the National Assembly and he did not hand over to the vice-president.

Do you think Buhari should address Nigerians from the UK and disclose his health status?

We should understand that the President, by the virtue of his position, no longer has any privacy. Nigerians are entitled to know every progress about his health. Those who are demonstrating in the UK were doing the legitimate thing because the citizens over there are well-informed about the medical status of their leaders. Why should our own be different? The same obtains in the United States. When things are not going well, we attribute it to Nigerian factor. Good governance has a standard. When we don’t follow democratic norms and principles, that is when people will keep protesting.

Did the APC make a good decision fielding Buhari as its presidential candidate based on his health?

I have no comment about that. They picked him so who am I to condemn their decision? It is for them now to decide. If they had known, they should be blaming themselves now. Anybody can fall sick.

The Federal Government has been assuring Nigerians that things would change. With two years to the end of this administration, do you really think there is light at the end of the tunnel?

Let us not deceive ourselves. From the outset, I was one of those who said it was too early to criticise Buhari. But going to two years now, things are going worse, that is the evidence. Yet, they (FG) continue to blame the previous government. That is not right. The All Progressives Congress said it would do better which was why it was voted into power. Now, they are saying something else. There is no light at the end of the tunnel because the instruments responsible for their non-performance have not been changed. You can’t achieve change when the right method is not in place.

It took Buhari six months to form his cabinet. Up till now, there is no economic programme. I don’t buy any jargon or propaganda that there is hope. They are preparing a solution that by the time it comes to fruition, everybody would be in the grave. That is what is happening now. Everybody is complaining. Even the middle class finds it difficult to go to the market. And the government keeps telling us to be patient. Some people are committing suicide. So, by the time your programmes are achieved, who will enjoy it?

Recently, former President Olusegun Obasanjo said the Igbo should have a go at the Presidency. Do you agree?

Why do you people give credence to Obasanjo? Obasanjo is a troublemaker. Seventy per cent of the problems we have in this country were caused by Obasanjo. He has never been consistent. He said (former President Goodluck) Jonathan didn’t do well and changed the tone later. Is that the type of man you want me to rely on? He likes to cause confusion and problems. If he says something today, tomorrow he will say that was not what he meant. I don’t give any regard to his statement.

drakeli:
The question you need to ask yourself is, why is the first segment of the bible regarded as old while the second segment regarded as new?

Just apply your basic English common sense of "old" and "new". That will help. Maybe I need to help you as well.

Ok...just as an example. When a new edition of a text book is published, it simply means that a lot of changes maybe in science or new discoveries have been added by the author. And some (not all) of the content of the old edition textbook can no more be good enough to make one pass a qualifying examinations.

Mind you, that doesn't mean that the old edition textbook is now completely useless. It's just that some formula and theories in it may no more comply with the latest and new realities and discoveries. Hence the new edition. The new edition may be to totally phase out the old edition or it may be to readdress some issues as contained in the old edition.

So it's not by accident that the bible is segmented into old and new. So the new testament is to address all the terrible and deadly laws of the old testament. Now instead of getting heinous punishment and death for transgression of the law, Jesus now gives forgiveness and new life like in the case of the adulterous woman that they wanted to stone. He told her to sin no more. And that should be the case.We have all committed the same sins worthy of death at least once in our life. But no one caught us in the act to stone us to death. So why should we now be the one to stone others?

Hence Jesus said:
2 Cor 5:17 the old things have passed away; behold all things have become new ...
You guys will do whatever and justify whatever to deny old testament, even as far as using an unrelated verse in 2 Corinthians that was talking about new acceptor in jesus and how their old past is washed away.
Mathew 5:18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
Luke 16:17 But it is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for one dot of the Law to become void.
You guys really need to settle between urselves and the bible.
NYSCNorth Is Safe For Corps Members - DG by Aliyu333(op): 12:29pm On Feb 11, 2017
Really?
Enyioha Opara, Minna

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Suleiman Kazaure, has admonished corps members to stop seeking relocation from the North to other states, saying the region is no longer volatile.

According to him, more than 50 per cent of corps members sent to the North usually seek relocation to other parts of the country.

Kazure told Saturday PUNCH that the recent development has not encouraged unity in diversity which the scheme preaches and stands for.

Addressing the 2016 Batch B Stream 2 corps members at the Niger State Permanent Orientation Camp in Paiko on Friday, Kazaure urged the corps members to keep an open mind and give the North a chance.

Kazaure, who was represented by the Director of Information and Communications Technology, Mrs. Christy Uba, said, “Do not dwell on the negative things you have heard about the North; do not seek relocation.

“I want to assure you that the people of the North are peaceful and friendly. Keep an open mind and give it a chance and a trial. Your being posted here was not by mistake; stay here and make some impact on the people of the state.”

The DG then encouraged the corps members to share their challenges with state and local government coordinators and desist from taking their grievances to the social media.”

In her address, the Niger State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Theresa Arokoyo, lamented the security challenges being faced at the camp, while calling on the state government to give corps members a permanent orientation camp that will be more secure.

However, Powell has cried out in the social media that he is not Jesus and that people should stop worshiping him. Rather, they should respect the true Jesus and worship God.

In his words: “I never cease to say and I repeat it to the world since 1977. I am not Jesus Christ, I am just an actor and British comedian. I am tired of seeing my photos displayed in places of worship and other places for worship. I just make a film for a living. Burn my picture and worship the only God in truth ! IslamRe: Why Muslims Should Never Have To Apologize For Terrorism - By Omar Alnatour by Aliyu333(op):
falopey:
But killing of the so called infidel is one of the four as seen in terrorist acts today.

Jesus came to fulfill the law. The question you need to ask yourself is, "which of the laws?". " Is it every law of the old testament Jesus was referring to?". Is he talking about every law without leaving the odd ones our as you quoted in those verses. The answer is that Jesus left the odd ones out.

In John 8:4-11
“Teacher,” they said to Jesus, “this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?”

Jesus told them that whoever has not committed such sin before should cast the first stone. That was how all of them left one after the other. And Jesus told her to sin no more. That's an instance where Jesus had to publicly break the odd old testament law which is a sharia law of the Muslims.

Why didn't Jesus allow them to stone her because that's what the law say. He did not come to fulfill the barbaric law that stone a woman and let the man off the hook. We have seen instances in the north where women were to be stoned under sharia while the man that committed it with her was left alone. Islamic hypocracy of the highest order.

So was Jesus talking about every law no matter what? Definetly NO he refused to fulfill some of the odd and unfair law practised before him.

So ask yourself, can a woman committee adultery or formication alone? What happened to the man too? That's the hypocrisy of sharia law and Muslims.

What about when Jesus healed someone on a Sabbath day. Of course it's against the law to do such on Sabbath day.

Mark 1:1-12 Jesus stood against the law that encourage willful divorce. The law like sharia allowed the Jews to divorce their wife. But Jesus spoke against it.

I can go on citing instances where Jesus refused to fulfill barbaric laws like sharia law. That is to tell you Jesus did not come to fulfill the odd or bad aspects of the law but the perfect ones.

Can you tell me in the law or teaching of Jesus in new testament where killing whatsoever for whatever reason was commanded to Christians like Muhammed did to Muslims? Killing was commanded in the Jewish law of the old testament, but Jesus spoke against it and never commanded Christians to take life for whatever reason. Jesus used a lot of parables to teach his disciples. Non of his parable is a command to kasill. We do not see where he took away peace from the world or use sword for whatever reason.
So you are here to do what?? Tell me Jesus contradicted himself? (Peace be unto him), or the bible contradicted itself?? Or some verses in the bible are not worth taking seriously??
Mathew 5:18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
Luke 16:17 But it is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for one dot of the Law to become void.
And him saying this?
Matthew 10:34 Do not think that I have come to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.
Luke 12:51 ►
Parallel Verses
New International Version
Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division.

New Living Translation
Do you think I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I have come to divide people against each other!

English Standard Version
Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division.
And lastly, you think the peaceful and loving part of the Quran isnt multiple times more than the said violent? And you keep saying things about Prophet Muhammad as If you know about his teachings, have you ever read his Sahee hadith or are you just interested in those that suit your goal? Do you read about his living with non muslims or the rights of non muslims that he thought us? Have you even read about him in the book "Hero and Heroes worship" by Thomas Carlyle or in the 100 most influential men by Michael H hart??, you see thats why we can't honestly have a conversation because you don't know more than the needed, except you go to Google and type "violence verses in the Quran" Violent teachings of Prophet Muhammad ( SAW).
Do you even know the tajweed of those verses you keep quoting? Do you know some verses are released in the Quran during the battle of uhud and Badr and still the next verse following them stress that the prophet SAW should stop if the other side of the battle stop and should not exceed limit cause Allah hate transgressors. You see if we are to just pick a verse in the bible and abandon the verses before and after it, what will it say of: Jesus said
Luke 19:27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.'- You see that is what you people do to Quran verses, but then going back to Luke 19:11 you will realize Jesus was telling them a parable about a king. So picking only 19:27 would have being disastrous. But why will you do that? When ur interest isn't to know Islam, you dont want to know anything good about it but to castigate it and paint it hypocritically Black.
Please Sir, bigotry aside, why dont you give The Quran and the hadith of the Prophet benefit of the doubt and understand a bit outside your box??. And you know we love Prophet Isah (Jesus) may peace be upon him. And am so blessed being a muslim and I will never take the life of a non believer unjustly because my religion doesn't teach me that. And yea you think we care more about your acceptance than Allah's thats why we are changing the meaning of jihad today?? . What a complete joke. Am leaving you with the best of greetings "Peace be unto you"- "Assalamu alaykum" , just like Jesus- peace be upon him said in John 20:21. Do have a rewarding and wonderful year.
IslamRe: Why Muslims Should Never Have To Apologize For Terrorism - By Omar Alnatour by Aliyu333(op): 8:56pm On Jan 25, 2017
falopey:
Of course there are similarities between the old testament of the bible and Quran. Hence the verses you are talking about. The old testament was the Jewish scripture before Jesus came. The new testament is the scripture of Christians because that's where you see the life lived by Jesus and his teachings. The coming of Jesus was like a revolution to make changes to those heinous laws of the old testament.

Of course Christians cannot throw away the old testament because Judaism gave birth to Christianity and because of other good virtues in the old testament that are still not in conflict with Jesus teachings that good Christians need to imbibe.

So the pivot point of Christianity centers around the new and not the old testament because that is where Jesus started is ministries and where you see it. That is why you don't see Christians acting out the violent verses like Muslims do because it's iin conflict with the teaching of Jesus whom they follow.

Old testament is for Christians to know where they were coming from and new testament is to know where they are. So those kind of verse do not hold water in today's new testament Christianity. But for Muslims, why have you guy refused to move away from your barbaric pass. You are still stuck to it and thats what we are seeing today.

Before we say jack, you will be pointing fingers at crusades of centuries ago. A crusade that only existed in Europe and Jerusalem to defend them against the external jihadist aggressors moving around the world to destroy their civilization and enforce Islamic rule.

If you are only supposed to fight back those who fight you when it's a matter of life to life, how about insulting islam? Becsuse so many people have been killed for that reason alone. How does that endanger your life. How did Islam get to be established iin every country it is today. Is it because those people came to mecca to fight you? No, you brought jihad to them and give them Islam with the edge of the word.

Jihad/killing of non Muslims because they hold a different faith still continue iin Muslim countries today. Of course you cannot wage jihad against the whole world and kill everyone because we are in the 21st century and western countries will meet force with force and defeat external jihad aggressors. But nevertheless, book haram, Isis, Fulani herdsmen are still doing a good job in that direction.

The true meaning of jihad as seen practiced centuries ago and which still continue to this present time is now such a shameful thing to associate with in this modern dispensation to an extent that the Muslims are now giving it a different coloration that it doesn't mean killing of "infidel" just because they are not Muslims.
Do you even know there are four type of Jihad?? No you can't, we concocted all those exceptions? Well Meerleeq just got you told.

Really?? You think am a newbie?

Matthew 5:17 Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

5:18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

5:19 Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

And Jesus also said:

Luke 16:17 But it is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for one dot of the Law to become void.
Jesus is always in perfect agreement with the Father (John 10:30), so we cannot argue that war was only God’s will in the Old Testament. God does not change (Malachi 3:6; James 1:17).

Matthew 10:34 Do not think that I have come to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.

long as those verses in the quran that expressly attack Christians, Jews and other non Muslims and that says they should be killed or be seen as enemies exist.-- Yea in relation to the so enemy loving bible right?

Mr Anderson summarises: "Of the three texts, the content in the Old Testament appears to be the most violent.

"Killing and destruction are referenced slightly more often in the New Testament (2.8%) than in the Quran (2.1%), but the Old Testament clearly leads—more than twice that of the Quran—in mentions of destruction and killing (5.3%)."

And lastly do you know according to facts(from FBI statistics to loon watch): Terrorism acts have been carried out 90+% more by non-muslims, but then why would you know that?

For yah mind....How the truth hurts. The world will never cease to witness Islamic terrorism as long as those verses in the quran that expressly attack Christians, Jews and other non Muslims and that says they should be killed or be seen as enemies exist. And until people like you look inward and admit there is a problem with islam/quran ( that makes quran see non Muslims as enemies) that needs to be fixed. While Mohammed taught you to see non Muslims as enemies, Jesus taught his followers to see non Christians not as enemies but rather treat them with love. What a difference between two masters. Use your brain bro and get out of this Islamic dogmatism that doesn't allow you to use your God given critical thinking of discernment.
You think there are no tons of violent verses in the bible?. The thing is you dont just take a statement and leave the one before it or that after and choose to make it realistic. No matter how hard honest and true muslims try to make you see how you people misunderstood jihad, you still won't believe and all effort becomes futile, and this is because of the hatred and full bigotry you have towards the religion.
Like a brother said earlier we are only suppose to fight back or kill when its a life for a life and interms of war. But then what do I know?, we believe what we want to and we owe no one apology for the lifes other people take cos we didnt do them and our religion didnt teach us that. Have you ever read the Tajweed of the Quran or did you just go to google and browse some verses to suit your interest?.
There are upto 1.6billion muslims in the world and the largest chunk of them are in indonesia, so if we are ordered as part of jihad to kill people unjustly, do you think there will be much of the world left?.
You can requote me to tell me how am all wrong, but truth is I don't care, cos as far as I know, thats not what Islam is about. Do you have a nice year.
