I hope this is not surprising. I have told those bigots and Dalover that Lagos, Ogun and ondo have oil but we don't let that dictate the way we think. Crude oil in Festac, Badagry, VI and makoko. It is called maturity. |
dayokanu: Jarus just gentle for face you better dont leave eran didndin with Ologbothis actually got me cracking hard This dayo thanks man !!! |
Orisirisi ![]() |
aspabay: WHAT ![]() |
afam4eva: @holyvirgin already being partial that is Nigeria for you. Carry go ![]() |
Pataki: You are a bigot! You should also be banned for all the insults you throw at your President. good !!! ![]() |
congrats Afam I hope God gives you wisdom to do what is right at the right time. |
ilugunboy: Lolzzz..alj you dey jelux? Make Afam no ban me for derailing the thread with prayers...I go send you one laterAmin |
afam4eva: Are there no traffic laws in lagos that cover okadas too? Whatever happened to enforcing laws.Enforcing laws on Okadas when we are still struggling with vehicles. Trust me, are we going to tell every passenger to where the protective leather and helmet when they are moving from one street to another ? |
ilugunboy: Asanwa...wish you same. The covenant of mercy shall work in your favour in 2013.where my prayer dey na ? |
afam4eva: Alternatives! Alternatives! AlternativesAfam o buru na I ga agu nwu akwukwo you would see have posted some there and I also made an argument that it is not for me to be dropping business Ideas for people. That is where intellectual laziness comes to play. |
berem: When i give a beggar an okada to alleviate his poverty what do you expect him to do with it?My sister, lets be careful here. NO NGO OR GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL WOULD GIVE A BEGGAR OKADA TO RIDE useless he is an illiterate or does not think deep. Okada that I know are given to farmers and low business starters as a form of cheap transportation FOR THEMSELVES so as to support their business. Not so they can use it as a form of commercial transport. Remember the police, certain bankers, companies, delivery companies, military and co still use Okada and would still use it. Our argument here is commercial transport. Take into consideration that when you see these people using the okada, they are most of the time kitted up |
afam4eva: Lagos offered to train them for other jobs after they had gone on rampage. This is what the government should have put in place before banning them. This is a case of putting the cart before the horse. That's where my grouse with the LASG is. It's not like i'm against the ban.So what is your argument here ? |
afam4eva: Is it also a crime to fly planes considering the number of people who have died through plane crashes. What other alternative is there to planes ? Ships ? which is more dangerous |
berem: If okada is not a way to elevate poverty, why do some top govt officials and NGO's give out okada to the less priviledge to cater for them?Is it meant for commercial use or private use ? |
berem: Abeg how is this true? What do you say about criminally gotten wealth? Happy new year to you tooMy wife get my point. Crime is crime but the law is the law. Lets sit down and reason here. First of all let me make myself clear. I DON'T HAVE A CAR AND I STAY IN MAKOKO Lagos Now as an average Lagosian/Nigerian that is staying in makoko and does not have a car. One would expect me being the fore-antagonist of Fashola laws on Okada and also knowing I am a PDP man in Lagos and I certainly don't want ACN to win next election. Now any sensible people would research, look around him/her before supporting or going a against a law. As I type, I still took okada 2 days ago. Not that I wanted to but simply because of the availablity. I thank God I am not paralysed or dead. I know the havoc that comes with okada being an ALTERNATIVE source of transport. We the passengers are not kitted neither are the riders. Any mistake would spell doom for both of us. Especially with Lagos roads and drivers, we are just putting our lives on a thread that can cut anytime. It is going to be painful at first but I know it is worth it. I know. |
Can you imagine Displaced Delta okada riders move to EdoOther states don't want Okada but they all argue that Lagos state should keep housing Okada since it is their only source of livlihood |
afam4eva: Are you implying that riding an okada is an illegal way of making money? What crime are they committing by offering a service to people?Crime ? Is it not banned ? is breaking the law and killing/injuring unsuspecting victims not a crime yet ? Just cause of money |
Why have Afam and berem gone mute ? Is allowing Okadas a smart way to elevate unemployment ? Yes or No because I don't understand your points |
afam4eva: How come i didn't see this. I think this is an insult of people's source of livelihood. If anything, the ban of okada is a lazy way of bringing sanity to Lagos.Oh so allowing them is a smart way of livelihood ? I think it is an insult to those that made money legitimately without riding okada. |
berem: are you fuccking kidding me?I am not o ! Okada is a very very lazy intellectual way of getting money ! Happy new year btw |
afam4eva: Yes, there are other means of livelihood. That's why the unemployment rate of Nigeria is over 60%. Talk is really cheap but in reality things don't seem rosy like you people paint them to be.What jobs are they looking for ? you should ask yourself Most people are looking for bank, oil, civil service, insurance and other white collar jobs !!! White collar jobs are hard to find but blue collar plenty. Self employ plenty so what are we talking about Even the so called USA and UK, Are white collar jobs given to people like that ? You would see a masters student in USA doing Macdonalds cleaner but come to Nigeria he wants to be MD. Such wrapped mentality |
babapupa: Okada was restricted in certain areas, not banned ad was done in other states. |
afam4eva: If it just stops at naming other sources of livelihood then most Nigerians would be millionaires by now. Do you know how these people suffered to even buy their okadas which were mostly destroyed by the Fashola regime. Do you just change work without capital? How about the Lagos state government providing these okada riders with loans so that they can use it to start new businesses. Now that is your first point. Most Okada riders are not even lagosians and as such cannot benefit from Lagos state. They are not registered to the state. After places like Abuja, Rivers and co banned them, they all came to Lagos and of course a country with no Identification would not object. In Lagos we say Okada riders are not even Nigerians, but majority of them are from Niger *country*. So what are you saying ? A non-citizen should be provided for what the citizens are suffering ? Where do these Okada pay their tax to ? Lagos or to themselves. There was a scheme of which I was aware off before fashola second term, that stated that those with okada should drop there okada and get a keke napep of which is 400,000 naira. They are to pay instalmently. Did people go for it ? No the reality is that I don't know about Nigerians whether they love Okada or not but Lagos state has seen that Okada is too dangerous and not sustainable and as such it cannot be allowed to continue. |
afam4eva: have the numbers of BRT, Danfos and keke Napep increased tremendously such that it will assuage the pains of the average Lagosian? Haven't you noticed the high population of people in bus stops?Population increase and you think the solution to it is Okada ? MOTORBIKE !!! My brother do you know what you are talking about ? The solution to a massive population in a city in terms of transport are mass transit systems not Okada. Examples of such are trains, trams, buses etc. Now with that said, there is no demand for trains right now in Nigeria (go read the kano-lagos rail route thread, shocking ). Now OKada is a pointer to development because to advance forward, one would leave backward mentality and find solution to major problems. Transportation is a problem many lagosians face but it is clear everyday that Okada is not the solution. Why would anyone robber. if you robber and get caught, you are OYO. There are other sources. Go find out, in fact factory workers don't need certificates to work I hope you know. Okada is just a lazy way of getting money. |
alternative source of livelihood. I CANNOT PROVIDE, That is the point why we are humans. We are to be innovative and not one way traffic thinking. Suyaman Washman Lawma scrapmetal sand packing from shores so has to build houses fishing small scale farming trading etc At the end of the day, I am not the one to tell you what to do if there was no Okada. Okada is simply not sustainable in the modern world and certainly not Lagos. |
Garri and co forget afam mod-ship. Lets face this annoying argument about Okada being a livelihood of which we have treated over and over again . |
afam4eva: The bolded is just a proof that the government have failed in implementing traffic rules, so the best thing for them to do is to make the job easy for them by banning okadas altogether. How about the government rising up to the occasion and performing their duty with more dedication and a strong aversion to recklessness by okada riders. They shouldn't take the short way out. The high rate of okada accidents is mainly due to the way they are driven and not because they're okadas. So what of the BRT, Danfo and keke napep ? Are they not alternative source of transportation ? How many countries that want to advance use Okada ? How can we make trains economically effective for both the government and the people without making a demand for it. Livelihood you say ? You are joking right ? How can Okada alone be a source of livelihood ? Tell me. I am waiting. |
afam4eva: Do you know how many people that have died via car accidents? Should cars be banned too? Should planes and boats also be banned? Of course the fastest way to solve an issue is to ban it outrightly especially when it's the poor that use it more often. How about putting in measures that will reduce okada accidents. I guess the government is too lazy for that.So you want to compare the relative time scale vs accidents done on both cars and okada ? Ok what safety device can we introduce to Okada to lower the risk ? Seat belt ? or helmets that is not implemented Again I stand on my words, if you want Okada roaming the streets then go back to your state of origin and don't come to another state demanding for something not allowed where you come from. Go to Igbobi and compare the victims of car accident vs that of okada. Go to Luth and compare. |
. |
Buchika: for your information its only in the city centers of the state capitals of the south east that okada is banned and never the entire state as implied by one comment, banning is one thing and achieving the aim its was banned in the first place is another thing, okada business did not evolve over night and stopping it over night won't solve any problem but add to the existing one. All the places in the south east where okada was banned is still battling with kidnap and armed robbery case. If we can tell ourselves the truth okada business is a child of circumstance begotten by the failures of our successive governments. Singling out the okada riders as our sole traffic and robbery problem is nothing but hypocrisy of the highest order. And was banning of Okada implemented over night ? What of the countless death Okada has caused ? Have you been to some of Lagos state hospitals before rather than talk out of ignorance. Okada is a plague that needs to be stopped. |
Alhaji, if indeed Afam4eva is the Chief Bigot as you claim, then making him a mod was a master stroke of genius because the act will defang him and render his bigotry impotent, because he will have to obey the rules. BTW, Happy New Year. See ya after impending sabbatical. Congrats Afam. Please note that the terms, Yoruba, aboki, or yamiri, found in any of my posts are essentially terms of endearment. If you ban me for using those terms, I offer these words in advance: "Egbe ndi Abriba piafuka gi blokos"
Happy new year my brother. |
