CultureRe: Why Don't The People Of Onelga In Rivers State Sell Land to Igbos? by aljharem(m): 10:52am On Jul 03, 2012
It is funny how Nigerian discriminate against each other. grin grin grin

Ok let me say the truth here. The so called Onelga people need to leave this 1400 mentality. I am a yoruba man from Lagos royal family and if I have no problem with Igbos, I wonder why you should.

Yes we have our differences here on Nairaland but in reality, we yorubas and Igbos cannot be separated and we are miles away from ala igbo, not to talk of you onelga people which are relatives of Igbos.

Just my views.

Right now, I am still learning my dialect. grin grin
PoliticsRe: ACN, CPC To Finalise Merger Talks In October by aljharem(m): 10:41am On Jul 03, 2012
People people, stop being pessimistic. At least let them talk and we would see what the merger entails. If it is likes of Tinubu and Buhari they would present then they know they have lost. If it is likes of Fashola, Oshomoile and Roachas they are talking about, then I believe we should give ACN/CPC a chance.

There is no point voting for someone from your ethnicity if he is not improve your life and the lifes of Nigerians.
^^^ thanks, sweetness.
No problem my sister. if I remember correctly, it is called ofe nlugbu or olugbu

yoruba would mix bitter leaf (ewuro) with efo or something along that line.
Bitterleaf soup

Pepper soup

I'm about to claim these two for Yorubas. Not sure though, but it prolly is lol
Bitterleaf soup is purely igbo, infact a delicacy in anambra igbos.

Yorubas as far as I am aware don't cook bitterleaf soup but I know of efo ewuro which means bitterleaf stew. More like efo, egusi and bitterleaf

Also what you call Ogbono, we call Apon

bashr8: akara (bean cake )is not yoruba it is a world wide dish eaten even in europe , the yoruba name might be akara but it is also the igbo name for bean cake so stop claiming

It is called "akara" by the Igbo people of south-eastern Nigeria and in the Yorubaland of south-western Nigeria, "kosai" by the Hausa people of Nigeria or "koose" in Ghana and is a popular breakfast dish, eaten with millet or corn porridge.
LOL this is from wikipedia. go do your research my brother. Need I say more grin grin grin. BTW long time bashr8

SuyaEater: Where did akamu and akara come from?
Yoruba people. Pap could be called Ogi or Akamu. Akamu is more used among in Osun, and northern part of yorubaland, I think.

Akara is just fried bean cake which is yoruba as well.

I mean logically, Egusi seed from water melon and Cowpea does not grow in the eastern part of Nigeria. So where did you get if from to be claiming akara, moi moi, egusi etc

freecocoa: You don dey thief food dash yoruba people. sad
My sister, don't be like that.

At least if you do not believe me or other yorubas here, you would believe the ex-slaves that there parents gave detail account of their former culture.

There is no point in lying here. I believe culture mix and evolve everyday. The first time I ate coconut rice was from an Igbo family.

http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=JTBSpuCkl9AC&pg=PA197&dq=moi+moi+food+yoruba&hl=en&sa=X&ei=vTzwT4zfEoqp8QOe8MmdDQ&ved=0CDkQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=moi%20moi%20food%20yoruba&f=false

Now lets even think about it logically.

To do moi moi or akara, one would need cowpeas.

Cowpea grow in arid land and as far as I am aware, there are no arid land in the SE. Even southern benue and Kogi have no arid land.

The best place for growth is the northern part of Nigeria. Places like northern kwara, Niger etc

The question you should ask is where did our fore-fathers get cowpea from ?

You have to understand that Igbos borrow cultures a lot, most who go to states like Lagos and Oyo. It is not surprising when we were talking about Egusi when Igbos claimed it started in ala igbo.

Moi moi is not only used by Nigerian Yorubas but also those in the carribeans and benin republic of which Igbos had no influence on.

Cerlos people in serri leano also have the same account

If you want me to bring out the link, I can.

PoliticsRe: FG Sacks NNPC GMD, Others, Names New Boss by aljharem(m): 1:18am On Jun 27, 2012
Sky Blue: You response is more revealing than you think. First of all if you "want a better Nigeria" it is not about being 'anti Jonathan' or 'pro Jonathan' but being pro good governance. And the fact that you feel the need to categorise into such arrangements says it all. You are making certain assumptions. The first obvious one being that people who are 'pro Jonathan' as you put it, cannot possibly also be pro good governance; but of course people who are 'anti Jonanthan' though not necessarily 'pro good governance', have the potential to be such (how very generous of you). Your attempt at objectivity is laughable.

By the way, sorry to disappoint you but I do not fit into one of the categories you took the liberty of fashioning for us all (how generous of you). I want good governance. The good thing about that is I am able to justify or at least attempt an explanation of my positions whatever they may be for varying issues (which fair enough not everybody is going to agree with). And that is the difference. And you are right, you couldn't answer what were three simple questions because you did not like the answers you came up with and what it might have said about you.

Irrationality is irrationality, whether pro or anti Jonathan. None of them do us any good and are different sides of the same coin (always quite amusing how one particular side always tries to claim the moral superiority over the other). Because in all of it we lose objectivity and constructive inputs which can potentially send government a message or feedback from its citizenry on what direction we want. Now tell me, what direction does pro or anti Jonathan irrationality send us? Is it a direction you are happy with this country moving in?
Bros you funny oh. Too much grammar, I no go school oh so take am easy. grin grin

1. As I explained earlier, there are categorises of anti-GEJ people. The category of discussion here is those that want a better Nigeria.

2. You talk of them being same coins of different sides and I AM TELLING YOU NO !!! A pro-GEJ would always justify irrational decisions even though he clearly knows it is extremely illogical to do. For example, I remember BEaf who happen to be a die-hard GEJ fan justifying the reason why Nigeria does not have a refinery. Explain why we should wait for the private sector to do so while Nigerian/Nigeria lose billions of dollars, export millions of jobs etc based on this fact. It is indeed a known fact that we are a laughing stock of the world but pro-GEJ ppl would justify that.

3. Have you seen anyone here being pro-GEJ or Anti-PDP not justifying their position before ? and even so, have you asked them why ? The issue that arise this decision was my reply to Mallamabdul (a namesake) and I have been following his post but this particular one got my attention when he was talking about (bolded)

Mallamabdul: who told you they were sacked for stealing money? Abi you just sit down in your parlor and conjure up reasons for the sack? Pls be more factual. Don't engage in pedeststrian gist. There could be many reasons for the sack other than what you think. Competence is a key issue in this administration. If you re not capable, you will be kicked out. GEJ is placing a high premium on his reforms so he is ever ready to make changes where necessary. Secondly, your innuendo on the first lady is an outdated line which failed to avail its initial originators, so pls invent a more serious allegation.
If he was a non-biased poster of which he is not, he should have been following the Allison Madueke story on the fuel subsidy and money etc and can connect the dots. That was the same way we know that Tinubu is a thief, that was the saem way we know that IBB was a thief, nothing excludes Allison from that.

BTW, thanks for the compliment smiley. *I think it is a compliment*
PoliticsRe: FG Sacks NNPC GMD, Others, Names New Boss by aljharem(m): 12:38am On Jun 27, 2012
Sky Blue: Try to stay on topic here. You made a statement which I challenged you on. Don't ramble of course. Very clear and straightforward questions.

Think about it. But I am not going to go into an unnecessary back and forth with you.
I am sorry but you did not ask a direct question and there is no direct answer to your question. Same side of the same coin is the wrong why of phrasing things. Those that are anti-GEJ on this site are in 3 categories of which the majority of us just want a better Nigeria and GEJ is NOT pushing us towards that direction. Thus you cannot categorise them as the same.

Shooting everything down is another wrong way of wording things because everything is WRONG WITH NIGERIA at the first place from the way we vote to the way our politicians think and implement policies. Thus if that is shooting everything down, then so be it and those that do it are rightfully justified but still a wrong why of wording things.

PoliticsRe: FG Sacks NNPC GMD, Others, Names New Boss by aljharem(m): 12:24am On Jun 27, 2012
Sky Blue: Question for you. Is being "madly pro-Jonathan" now the bench mark for irrationality and if it is what do we call the 'madly anti-Jonathan'? And in all of this, where is objectivity? As far as I am concerned both are different sides of the same coin.

Or is shooting down every single thing now the new fad and hallmark of a "progressive"? The kind of trite one has to read on nairaland sometimes. . . .
Another question for you, anyone obsessed with any Nigerian politician with no track past record or present should be considered ration ? C'mon where is your objectivity here.

I am yet to see a madly anti-GEJ person apart from Gbawe, 1025. Of which I am yet to see them form another ID to defend their position unlike Pro-GEJ ppl.

It makes no sense, in fact is so stu.pid I wish Nigeria can break up and so of us can call our government to order without the fear of being called names.

That is the way some of us think

PoliticsRe: Shell To Build $3.5bn Gas Plant In Imo by aljharem(m): 12:13am On Jun 27, 2012
Mallamabdul: pessimists. What is paper talk in it? Shell is not owned by govt, mind you? So Shell owes you no obligation whatsoever to set up a gas plant. If you understand this, you will appreciate that Shell did not just come to play to the gallery in order to impress you. It is not FG's money nor the state govt's money, it is shell money and they can decide not to go ahead with the project. We seek to applaud the FG For rather creating a conducive environment for this investment to come up. The project did not just spring up on its own accord. It was a product of the recent drive of the Ministry to increase electricity tariffs in Nigeria. The strategy of govt is that since gas remains a major challenge to power supply, it will be nice to encourage private sector investments in gas. The private sector insisted that the present tariffs must be reviewed upwards so that they can recover their investments. Tariffs were increased on june1, and today SPDC has come to build power plants in IMO state.
