vizboy: how do they expect me to fund the account now. Cause there is no diamond bank in auchi, i now have to go all the way to benin to pay in money into the account. Low planning on the side of both companyIt's unbelievable that a big town such as Auchi, and home to one of Nigeria's foremost Federal Polytechnic, doesn't have a Diamond bank. If this is true; I trust some responsible party in the Yello mobile money is reading this and noting that the scheme has already failed before take-off if airtime as a mode of funding the account is not incorporated. Though am aware you can also fund via MTN Agents, there is no point asking if you didn't find any? The answer is in the question ![]() I guess there is a First Bank in Auchi? If yes, then the Glo Xchange Mobile Money may be the saviour for the unbanked villages/ communities in Nigeria. E bi like MTN go carry last for this Mobile money scheme MTN shine your eye @ Everyone reading this thread, lets contribute to the development of this Mobile Money by attaching this thread when we send our suggestion to MTN and Diamond bank. Cheers. |
Iniobon: I tried the product. I deposited 2k to test it but it took them four days to credit my account. When i wanted to load my phone from it, it wouldn't load. And even the customer care line 118 was not going.Interesting @Iniobon, Kindly give more details as to method of funding your Yello Account; was it through Mobile Agent, Diamond Bank, etc?? Dedicated customer care line (118) is not functional yet. Use 180 (choose speak to agent option) to handle complaints for now. Cheers. |
2sExy1: The email should be sent to eurobigdata @ gmail dot comSent my details to email above. Hope those in the up coming group found time to do that? Please lets make progress.... |
Last week in Perspective: The target for last week was to collate the list of the foundation members. After some beef here and there (which is expected once there are 2 or more persons in a room) I think target is accomplished. Bravo. Going forward, someone should volunteer to coordinate the set-up pf BB/Whatsup groups (Is Skype possible? Lets look at that also). God bless you in advance. I will send out emails once I get the list with your contact. Please respond ASAP when you receive my email. This week's target would be to achieve BB/Whatsup group and by Saturday hold our 1st meeting (Agenda: will be sent on BB/ email by Thursday). Members would be encouraged to have voice communication with one another. So guys I try to do all this layout to let us know there is much to do to get things off the ground. so let all hands get on deck. Those chinco boys we up against no dey waste time for beef. |
Ok I will make quick responses to some of the issues raised below, for the benefit of all: 2sExy1:[/s] |
doffman: Am interested o.That's the spirit man. Its appreciated. So please supply your data as requested to 2sexy1 so he can collate and forward. I believe 2sexy1 is in good position to do this as he's been pretty long on this thread. |
To All who have indicated interest in the proposed group: Please your information is required in the following format- NAME, BB Pin, PHONE NO., EMAIL ADDRESS. For privacy sake, you send this as a PM or direct to 2sexy1 email (which is?) If you no get BB pin , then you go get Whatsup. That's the idea. |
ghettodreamz: Responded!I salute everyone. @ Ghettodreamz, I am yet to receive any list. Please send so we can start making some progress in formalizing this group. |
dagr8: All4good, your info here is well appreciated. Any update on this...DYA agents meeting postponed. Status quo remains. Thanks. |
Hello Gents, Seems like ages since I last posted. Been busy in the last 2 days. I can see a lot has been going down in here. Sorry for any inconvenience. Last post I made here, I tried to lay out step-wise procedure for us to follow towards Forming the team. If I remember we were to allow 3 days to get all EOIs (expression of interest). Then someone was to volunteer to set-up the BB/whatsup group and then we can fix our first meeting. So where are we on these ![]() But from quick reviews of postings in the past 2 days, I get the impression some persons are feeling that a team is already formed and we already missed out on some business. I hope its my imagination. @2sexy1 & GhettoDreams: Kindly post a list of those who have indicated interest with their contact (phone/ email). My email is 49jabiz@gmail.com ; I will send out a mail to everyone on that list to confirm their interest after informing them of the financial requirement. Recall the number of persons on the list you will post will enable me communicate the initial financial commitment (see my earlier post). After service tomorrow, I will try and make specific comments on certain issues I have missed out on, so far. |
2sExy1: http://www.namejet.com/Pages/Auctions/BackorderDetails.aspx?domainname=clag.comVery narrow niche going by its meaning ( 1. type of glue and 2.type of exhaust emission). However as an acronym for an organisation e.g Centre for Language, Arts and G... it becomes viable. As such its not for quick sale. Perfect if you don't mind keeping it for as long as it takes (3 years or more) to locate the perfect owner. Otherwise you re-flip for some margin. Its a short memorable name. If price is right its worth the keep. |
OXCUBA: MY OPINION OR QUESTIONS: for instance if they fund has been raised and domain been purchase by 2sexy (or anybody) with his/Their godaddy account .... how can we get the fund or domain back in the case of eventuality.... if something happen to 2sexy(or anybody) ..... And also will the profit be shared equal. At this Formative Stage (Foundation Members) we should come together on equal stakes. But in the future when the floor is re-opened to accept new investors, it should be expected that existing members who are satisfied with events so far will want to increase their stake. That is where the issue of allotment of shares comes in. So (thinking aloud) we should put a clause in our MOU that stipulates allotment procedure. Thanks for the opening question. I knew that the process of putting this Co-operative won't be as easy as GO. That's why my first comment when the idea was muted was, "the time to act is now, and not when another tempting domain acquisition pops up'. However its all do-able with the quality of smart minds I meet here. I believe once we are through with forming the group, setting-up BBM and Whatsup meeting points, the issue Oxcuba raised will be addressed. People should note their solutions for discussion at our first meeting. In the mean time others should raise any other concerns they can think of for the house to look into them. God's grace and protection to everyone in the house. |
ghettodreamz: Well said.Grinding their a.ss off on their day jobs. On this note may I suggest that we allow 3days (Deadline Friday 22nd) for people to indicate their interest in the proposed co-op. Is that Ok? |
2sExy1: Okay bro, how many people can we bring together and how much would be needed to start? can we raise an equivalent of $1000 collectively for a start?$1000 = N168,000 (Parallel Market rate). Twenty people interested should drop N10,000. Ten people interested should drop N20,000 each. 5 people interested should drop N40,000 each. These will be our foundation members. After now a membership fee will apply before payment of the investment funds. I advice that what is raised should be spread across 5 to 10 domains. However the more people the merrier (what says we can't have an operating capital of $5,000). After-all if your company is doing well the next thing you think of is the stock-exchange (PLC). PLC means over 1000 people. Just to wet your imagination. First find out those who are interested that have some knowledge of the domain business. At least basic Knowledge of the domain/website flipping business is important for the Foundation members. |
vizboy: i just wish they could make it possible to fund the account with airtime from my phone balance.CALL TO ACTION: I encourage everyone to send our suggestions/ expectations of the new product to the following emails: customercare@mtnnigeria.net , enquiries@diamondBank.com Make it clear that the product will not be accepted if we can't fund the account with airtime which is available every where. Don't have time to start looking for agent to fund our accounts. |
Oyedey4u: I spoke with their customer care and they gave me their email enquiries@diamondBank.com to forward any service improvement mail to.These are tit-bits from my findings at Diamond/MTN offices today: DIAMOND BANK BRANCH I met with the operations head of the branch and when I asked him about the Diamond Yello Account, he seemed to have heard about the product but he had to put calls across to someone else every time I posed a new question. First he confirmed that I could deposit and withdraw funds from within the bank. When I requested to know if I could deposit some funds and start processing an ATM card, he stepped aside to put a call through again, then later came back to inform me that only MTN Agent that serve as mobile money agent will issue the ATM cards that can be used in any bank ATM for withdrawals. MTN DISTRIBUTOR Their response to my enquires reveiled that only a few top staff are aware of the product and I was informed that they will ccommence activities in September (next month). And couldn't offer any further details of what to expect. SUMMARY The roll out this product is yet to happen. So any information at this time is highly presumptive. The essence of the MTN messages to dial *710# that we all received recently is a Pre-Product Launch campaign to get feedbacks. Now, one of those feedback is for us to inform them that the product will be useless if we can't fund our account with airtime. However am in the picture that there will be a seminar for would be DYA Agents/Operators in Lagos tommorow. So after that meeting we should have a better picture. In the mean time I encourage everyone to send our suggestions/ expectations of the new product to the following emails: customercare@mtnnigeria.net , enquiries@diamondBank.com |
UbongSludba: Hello Nairalanders, I sent a mail to enquiries@diamondbank.com yesterday on DYA but no response yet. I wud like 2know sum things; can d product be used wyt any other network or its just restricted 2MTN? because sumtyms a particular MNO myt have crazy network dat can cause truncation of a transaction that you need to perform urgently. And what channels are avaliable on d DYA, is it just USSD (*710#)? Pls replyThe account number you generate when you send the USSD code *710# is domiciled in Diamond bank and can only be operated with your MTN phone number. You cannot access it with your Airtel/Etisalat lines. These other operators will come up with their equivalents soon. |
worldgee: Thanks sir 4 ur patronage & compliments. We had a busy wknd hence late reply.I use either MTN or Etisalat. Thanks |
ghettodreamz: That's exactly the point I was trying to convey the other time, domaining need real money. 250 is still pretty ok, if the domain really worth it, I believe the guy won't have bidded 250bucks on it, if it doesn't worth it. Perhaps he saw what you couldn't see in the name, or let say he's more robust when it comes to finances. And that's where joint stuff comes in. At least, if a bid is won at about 300bucks, with 5 or 6 people contributing 50bucks each, in few weeks time or months, a good buyer could come looking for the name, and that could be sold for a whooping 4-5 figures, and that's smiling for every stakeholders. Not so fast in concluding that. Did you also consider that the owner of "instruct.com' may be trying to complete his portfolio by trying to acquire "instruct.net" (especially if someone is presently discussing buying "instruct.com". Both domains are parked at this moment. The eventual owner (ie the person who intends to develop it as a website) will first acquire the ".com" before going after the ".net". And it is only when you are selling the ".net" to the website owner of a successful ".com" that you can hope to make 5 figures. For now you may only hope to make some margin return on a ".net" domain whose ".com' is still parked. Researching names is key in the flipping business. |
Oyedey4u: Yes, I quite agree with you. I think we both can work together to help achieve this. I have a track record of helping them (Diamond Bank) to detect a bug in the testing phase of the DYA through their facebook address and i think they should be willing to accept our suggestion if we are able to present it to them formally...Ok bro, thats welcomed. I hope to pop into one of their branches and test their preparedness for mobile money transactions. I will update the house. Cheers. |
jerryboiii: boss..can I use dat account like normal account? As in d account number dey gave me,can I give someone to pay into it?? Assuming d person will av go to the bank to pay into it,is it possible?? If Yes, hw will I withdraw the money? ThanksmYes sir. It is a normal account. You can walk into the bank and fund it; then you can request for MasterCard to enable you withdraw physical cash when you need to. Also for existing Diamond Account holders, I hear you can walk into any Diamond branch and set-up 4 digit pin allowing you to use your existing account as a Yello Account. |
@Splendinho Keep your phone on. Its been off all day. |
Oyedey4u: I feel this will help alot if it is implemented. It will assist the mobile money to fully gain ground and may reduce the need to find mobile money agent that will assist in funding the account.I believe it wouldn't be long before we see that implemented. But we may also help the process of the "rising sun" by dropping it as a suggestion on Diamond Bank website. I hope Diamond bank/MTN would be able to contend with the traffic on their servers once they implement Recharge card funding of DYA accounts. This singular move will take commerce to another unprecedented level in this populous country with enormous human energy; Nigeria . |
Interesting. @2sexy1 you didn't tell us the closing bid for soccerworld.com. The auction window is usually very short, and as such will not permit for pulling resources together just before placing a bid. So my take is that, if we think the idea of coming together to buy and sell domains is viable, then now is the time to take action. For a start agree on an amount to pull together, and how many persons to take-off with. So we are looking at coming together under an Aegis (Nairaland Domain-Flippers Cooperative) with primary intent to buy and sell domains? Every member of this cooperative may not be active in the day to day activities of Domain-Flipping. So determine those who would handle these activities or is everyone in on a daily basis as a criteria for membership etc? Then agree on Procedure (Memoranda, Article of Assoc.) for running basic day-to-day activity (e.g.): Determine what type of Domains constitute viable products. Determine those to handle research of products (domains, website) to buy Determine those to handle benchmarking a Sales Price for products. Abi na come together buy today, disembark, then come back when we get buyer, sell then show each other back. Maybe after two years we regroup for another killler domain deal. What's your take guys? Am in if we can in our spare time (online) put together a cooperative to run this scheme for the long-haul, racking in some cool monthly profit. Though profit sharing may be twice a year. 2sExy1: So, I want us to have it in mind that when I or anyone find a good domain name, we would contribute at least 10k-15k each and see how things go from there. |
Oyedey4u: pls how do i withdraw from my airtime balance from my DYA accountSeems that feature is not yet activated just like the "Quick Pay". However for more details I believe Megateq (A DYA agent) can be of help. |
@Splendinho Please explain how to set up "Gig Extras" when creating a gig in fiverr. Thanks. |
Please explain how to set up "Gig Extras" when creating a gig. Thanks. |
@afreekah signed-up under you. Bring on the Smart thinking. Thanks in Advance. |
@worldgee The modem sure does work in terms of connecting to the internet. But the challenge is that we can not access the other features which a modem should have like being able to check your data balance, sms messages etc. To do any of this you have to bring out your sim and place in your phone. The C3G screen that appears when you plug the modem into your laptop keeps requesting for a password. What is the password? |
@Megateq Am one of your regular buyer. Am still rocking my 1GB mtn data acquired over a week ago. More grease to your elbow. I want to suggest you adopt the MTN/Diamond bank mobile money payment system. That way your customers can easily pay you for the data plans they are purchasing without the burden of going to purchase Recharge card and texting to you, then you have to confirm that cards are ok before you release data plan to them. With the Diamond Yello Account (DYA) you have the option of using the funds they transfer to you as airtime or cash it from your Diamond bank account because you also get a NUBAN account number (same as you get when you walk into any bank to open an account). All these takes less than 3 minutes from the comfort of your home. Check out this thread for further details. https://www.nairaland.com/1858047/mobile-money-diamond-yellow-account |
Hello Nairalandians, Lets share our experience opening or using this new MTN/Diamond mobile bank account. Opening may not have issues. But one challenge I have experienced using the account to do a transfer is what I may call a network drop. Am at the 4th stage of a 5-Stage process and am logged out i.e am returned back to my home screen. Meaning you starting all over. Whats your experience? |
