1. Whoever came up with this idea at Etisalat should be sacked NOW.
How naive do you have to be to know that Twitter does same for free.

You charge N1 for posting a status update. What over 100 various services
online does for free?

if you need ideas on what to do to make money, organise a camp for ideas
and buy out the biggest and best ideas, but please and please stop the foolishness.

I can sit down on my toilet seat and come up with better ideas.

@frisahost, why exactly should i give your site a trial? Does your website meet any
of my previous conditions? What you call a website is completely a waste of resources
in my opinion.

What will it cost you to get better quality images for your header banner, or at least use
black people to advertise in a black country. Its possible also that special offers are part
of your logo design!

Only an illiterate would fall for your reasons to choose FrisaHost, one being "- Speed of

Stop wasting time and resources, sell your hosting business to someone who knows what he or she is doing,
have some small shares in it and be a proud business man before your friends by having something to boast about,
YOU STARTED AN ONLINE BUSINESS AND SOLD IT SUCCESSFULLY.

GUESS I WAS A BIT HARSH!

I am quite disappointed with all the eb hosting companies listed here.
One look at your site and i am more than convinced that you cannot deliver.

So many web hosting companies. Yet, all you can see is so little time dedicated
to creating a welcoming experience for website visitors. Ugly interfaces, no call to action,
no colour or theme considerations, the site just oozes CHEAP and FAKE.

If i were to setup a web hosting company, i would run all this people down in one single
day. I imagine, i am not the only one who has gone through most of the sites recommend
here and felt same way.

Although am sure, someone would say, interface does not matter, i don't need this or that,
i only need good webhosting or customer care. From where i sit, the first thing that will make
me consider hosting with anyone is the website. Take a look at some of the most successful
web hosting companies:

www.mediatemple.net
www.networksolutions.com

They give so much attention to design and user experience, you would never know web hosting
is all they do. To all those who have recommended "your" or others web hosting companies, please
take a look at your site and a look at the examples above and work on your first point of contact
with your clients, it goes a long way.

While i give my 2 pence advice, i will encourage you to prepare your handing over documents as
a better webhosting company is coming soon and am 100%certain, it might just wipe you out of
the market.

about offering all these options you have mentioned.

See the thing is this, a lot of the sites we have now
do not even require half of the features listed here.

No offense meant really, but how many of your
current clients actually use all you offer.

I have been using cpanel, plesk etc for years now
and i still have over 75% of the icons i have not
used in the past 5 years.

What would you say to a web hosting package thats
just simple, and clean, that does not imply weak o.
I mean something less bulky and a simpler web hosting
interface.

Without all the icons we never get to use. Just good
quality hosting with 99.9 uptime guaranteed, no unnecessary
freebies, just a simple hosting that does what it says on the
box.

Was waiting for someone to mention the word free.
Well lets get this clear from the very beginning.

No part of free is good, when it comes to web hosting.
Free usually comes with empty promises and bad results.

Its funny how you see people argue here. If you know you have a website/application that needs to be hosted on a ultra-super secure datacenter, then please go and look for one. However if you have a simple site that you want hosted that does not have a database containing a super list of important details, then please host locally. You would help move other business like yours forward and we can also help ourselves also.

Web4Africa, may not be the best, but they try. Buying up two competition in less than a year is a good deed. And they should be spoken well of. However if you have your grievances, please consider others. I have a web hosting company myself and i have built it to be better than some based on what i feel customers need more. See the website of mr terabyte, i don't like the site design, but i know that has little impact on hosting,, so if i have a small site like my sisters blog, i will gladly give him a try because that is how companies and economies develop.

I hope to put web4africa under serious competition in the next few weeks. I know my competition and i know what i must do to take away some of their clients. So you guys, niyi etc beware, lol Enjoy guys!

Niyi, you just keep amazing me. Now you have added another web hosting company to your list. This is like marrying wives.
You are positioning yourself to take over the web hosting space in west africa. I honestly think you need somebody to really
give you a run. You know, an honest competitive competitor.

Hmmmm, Should i or should i not? Lets see what people think first.

@all, great comments by everyone but if you don't mind, one of the things i would like us to do here is advice younger developers on what they can do to make it in the industry. So please lets come up with ideas people can get into. So some poor (webmaster, designer or developer) can get out of his/her rat race.

Hi, here is a topic i would like our opinions on. Why is it that most webmasters are really not as rich as you would expect.
Considering how hard most of them work, they really cannot say they are "OK", Well here is my own 2 Pence.

I think webmasters need to look beyond just getting websites and designing and start looking at developing products in the
long term. Say you come up with a good design for something like a classified directory. Look at what others in the industry
have done and see how you can improve it. If you have to partner with a few other like minded folks, do so.

If you do such, you can set up google ads account and have some change dropping into your pocket here and there. What i
have learnt to do over the years is this and it has helped a lot. I have created mini and micro sites with very little struggle
that on a weekly basis generate at least $50 each from adverts and other items etc.

I have discovered that the money comes in handy when you have those urgent needs etc. And am not saying just do some
funny looking app etc and hope to make money, use the spare time you have or the time spent chasing non paying clients
and invest it into something really good. 2 years or more down the line, you would be amazed at how this would help you.

Another thing is to spend time developing yourself. Currently i have close to a 100gig of video tutorials ranging from HTML
to Ruby to Python. I don't know everything, but i spend my free time on some videos. What that does is you keep your mind
active and think less about debts etc. When am bored, i just play a video. Now i may not know everything in detail, but it
most certainly opens my mind to other technologies. Currently i am watching videos and tutorials on mobile development,
i don't have any project for that yet, but as i watch the videos, am working on a simple mobile app one can download for free.

These build you up for future projects. once i spent 3 days watching sharepoint videos. A few months later, someone called
to ask if i knew sharepoint, "jokingly" i said i am a guru in sharepoint and what do you know, i got a contract of about a 500k.
I certainly spent about 50k brushing up my skills, but if i had not spent that time watching the video, someone else would have
gotten the job.

As webmasters in our part of the world, i cannot tell you how much of our time is spent running after unserious clients with layout
and designs and concepts etc only to be told its to high, someone said he can do the same for 30k etc In my opinion, that time spent
can be used to develop something worthwhile or train/equip yourself for the future. Do something worthwhile with your time. Be like
me set up a bulk SMS account and send your debtors payment alerts instead of chasing them about, LOL. It works o, i can send you
100sms that you're owing me in an hour. LOL (Please don't do that to anyone, people can go crazy).

Do the maths, you most probably have not read the rules and regulations yourself. And if i may assume, you probably would not check the voters slip before voting also. Not sure how many people will agree with me but i just installed Opera 11 for MAC and i cannot believe some of the features i am seeing here.
Why is everyone not using Opera. There are unbelievable features here. I have always loved Firefox and am using 4 Beta, but "gosh me". Opera
is really giving me good surprises.
