What esle would you expect him to say! duhhhh!

So what price would you be looking at for a good hosting that really meets some of the things we have talked about.
How much would you offer for a basic hosting package with say

200Mb
20,000 bandwidth
20 emails (With Afterlogic bundled)
20 databases
Good Technical Support
Live Chat with seasoned professionals who are comfortable with HTML - Ruby - Python

Linux / Windows Server?

Your personal experience is good, but really my issue with those Control panels is that they are just too busy. Its just like when you look at some websites, there is just too much info at a glace.

Another issue with the control panels is that they are just too cumbersome. To many unwanted things. I prefer a simple and clean approach, maybe because i am a design conscious person.
I prefer simple clean interfaces for applications. Simple things should be done in max. 2 steps. The car example really might sound well but really, whats under the hood is what really matters.

The mail platform i bought is Afterlogic Webmail Pro. It has a very intuitive interface and its really simple to use, here is a screenshot. Its got contacts and calendar features etc, and it
has fast AJAX Webmail and innovative calendar with sharing. (http://www.afterlogic.com/)

Google apps is cool and i use it for a few clients, but really why can't a good mail like Afterlogic be bundled with the Web Host Package its self, besides Google Apps Standard supports only
50 emails/user so you can't go beyond that. And really, i don't think any client will want to pay that much for google premier. $50 per mail, for where?

Also, backing up your sites is a hassle on some of these platforms.

Yeah, Web Hosts need to be honest and reliable. Good technical support and know how is also important.
But what do you guys think of the Control Panels a lot of these hosts use. Cpanel and Plesk. yes there are


I have a lot of sites with cpanel, and personally i don't use more than 4 of the icons on it
Email, Ftp Users, Databse and sometimes AWstats.

Why do we have all the other 1--s of icons, can't we have a webhost that is so simple but yet powerful
hiding away all unnecessary jargons and keeping important things only.

Also, i hate with a passion the webmail interface, horde and the likes, had to buy a web mail platform
and setup separately for my web users to use web mail. Because sometimes, the ones that come with
the hosting platform are just terrible and dull.

No wonder some company people will keep using there yahoo and gmail boxes instead of the official
mail. But for those who have outlook, and know how to use it, it may be a blessing in disguise.

I agree with you, most people really don't know whats important when it comes to webhosting. I think its really because we have less traffic to a lot of sites in nigeria and as such most developers don't get calls from clients that there site is down. Some sites in nigeria can be down for months and since no one is checking, they would not know. Not until the company recieves a phone call from a visitor to their site before they know that there website is down.

Also, most of us just pay for unused resources. I once told a client we needed a basic hosting for his brochure website, he paid 2 times my project cost for hosting to someone, because he said he wanted plenty space on his website, guess he thought its just like you HDD, his entire site is 23mb and we have over 40gig space on the hosting. Makes no sense to me.

What do you want from a web hosting company. There are a few in Nigeria, but its funny how
webmasters ignore them and go outside even with the stress of rejected credit cards etc.

I am really interested in your opinions and would do my best to answer every inquiry, but i am very
interested in professional and quality services offering value for money with simplicity in mind, nothing
complex or overly cumbersome.

In my opinion, the Terry G guy should be called to attention and made to pay. 500k is a few months salary for some people. How can you collect that and not show up for a single night show, even if you are made to sing for 24hours. For what now! And i still don't understand how some can be mentioning Contractual whatever, thats for another days discussion

He collect cash, make he show. Simple! or refund money, he's lucky they are not demanding interest. If you have gone for a show and not seen anybody at all, you'll understand the frustration!

Well in those days in CDSSI, i was a good football player, but because my mom was strict, i usually played in my uniform so in case she showed i would be ready. I was also very skillful so i could play 4-5 sets and not a single person would touch me. One term, my mom bought me this rubber sandals that was the latest thing for boys then. because my size was not available, i took the next big size so i could grow into it as i refused every other one in the store.

One day while playing ball, i wanted to lob the ball like Siasia did and my shoe went with the ball and landed on the roof. Well i scored but could not celebrate because the only thing that flash across my mind was the new set of sticks my mom bought for the term. As my friends ran towards me i ran for the table to arrange and get my shoe. Before i knew it, the disciplinary master in Command Secondary School then (Sha Sha Sha) came around and i had to wait till after school. Well cut the long story short, i could not reach the shoe. I used my bag to cover my leg as i entered my moms car at the main gate.

In those days, my mom was fond of buying things for us on the way home. I could do anything for pof pof and bonce, so when we got to the place, my mom gave me some change to get down and buy, that was where trouble started. I refused to go down and instead was calling the woman from the windows with the glass up sef. My mom first slapped the living daylights out of me for disrespecting the lady calling her from the window, then she discovered the matter. She beat me ehn, even the beggars in Maryland who know our car well were telling me sorry the next day.

And if you know my mother, you would know things don't usually end without an explanation, Friday night, just before legend Movie of the Week started, she called me to explain and after the explanation, she beat all the football out of me, till tomorrow i cannot juggle the ball 20times.

Judging from the publics first reaction to the statement, i would say, if they don't change it soon, they may be heading for a serious crash in fans and possibly apps count for their devices.

The iPad is definitely not  as bad as most have taken it to be.
Had the opportunity to test run it and I do agree that it has its draw backs.
I believe it is still under development and series of packages will soon be out there in the market for users to buy.
Students, Kids, Graphic Artists, Cartoonist, Specialist in Animatronics, Architects are few amongst the kinds of users that will appreciate the work of the iPad.

You must be very dull, to refer me to a dictionary. You claim to have tested the iPad. I have one here. Tell me one single app a graphic artist can use on it, or according to you "A SPECIALIST IN ANIMATRONICS".
Oga, there is not need to claim what you have not achieved. You have not seen an iPad yet and neither have you tested any. If you have you will know that there is nothing the people you have listed will want to use it for apart from play.

First of all, we need to clear the air. It is NOT Microsoft Slate, it is HP SLate.

Also, only someone who knows nothing about computers will ever place the iPad beside and computer. The iPad is a glorified iTouch.
It really surprises me how someone can say the iPad will start a movement in the industry. One needs to ask, what industry.

It does not multitask. I don't need to go into the details of what that means, but for those who don't, it cannot do what Nokia does.
Why would i need an iPad when i have an iPhone, an Itouch and a computer PC/MAC.

Some people are just helping Apple raise the hype without knowing anything about the product. And for the life of me, i don't understand
why the iPad will finally take Microsoft out of the Market. In what category will that be, Multitouch Surface, Speed, Efficiency, what!!!

And when will people start knowing the difference between the two companies. Microsoft is involved in things Apple can only dream of, do you
have any idea what Microsofts product are and how many of them.

Apple is good, but not that good. And they need to know when they have missed the mark and stop ripping people off.
