Sports / Lionel Messi Should Serve As An Example' - Brazil President by Allmiron: 5:38pm On Oct 31, 2023
Brazil president Lula called on players from his country to follow the example of Lionel Messi if they want to win the Ballon d'Or.

The president ignored the longstanding rivalry between Brazil and Argentina to praise Messi, urging players from his country to look up to the Inter Miami superstar in terms of dedication to his profession and the longevity it.

Messi should serve as an example to Brazilian players," Lula commented. "The 36-year-old guy, world champion, with the Ballon d'Or and everything. Messi needs to be an inspiration of dedication for these kids. Anyone who wants to win the Ballon d'Or has to dedicate themselves, they have to be professional. It doesn't go with partying, it doesn't go with a night out."

Messi is widely known for his quiet off-field life, making headlines for football and little else. Meanwhile, no Brazilian footballer has won the Ballon d'Or since Kaka in 2007. Neymar is the one that has come closest in more recent years, finishing third in both 2015 and 2017. But, at 31, and now sidelined with an ACL injury, his chance of breaking the drought is likely gone.

Foreign Affairs / “No Electricity, No Food, No Fuel”- Isreal’s DM Orders Total Blockade On Gaza by Allmiron: 11:27am On Oct 09, 2023
JERUSALEM -- Israeli defense minister orders 'complete siege' on Gaza Strip with no electricity, food or fuel.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on Monday said that Israel was going to impose a "total blockade" on Gaza including a ban on admitting food and fuel to the area amid the country's battle with Hamas terrorists.

Israel said on Monday that it was going to impose a "total blockade" on Gaza, including a ban on admitting food and fuel to the area. This came after a three-day conflict between Israel and Hamas terrorists claimed the lives of over 1,100 people on both sides, with more than 700 killed in Israel, including 44 soldiers.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said, “I have ordered a complete siege on the Gaza Strip. There will be no electricity, no food, no fuel, everything is closed. We are fighting human animals and we act accordingly.”

Celebrities / Kylie Jenner Deletes Instagram Story Showing Support For Israel by Allmiron: 7:40pm On Oct 08, 2023
Kylie Jenner posted and then quickly deleted a post to her Instagram story, according to reports, that showed support for Israel after Hamas launched an attack against Israel over the weekend.

Jenner's Instagram posts - her most recent was posted four days ago - are flooded with support for Palestinians after she seemed to delete the story.

Her followers and more commented with images of a Palestinian flag and with several calls to "free Palestine."

Jenner shared a post from the account, @StandWithUS. The post read, "now and always we stand with the people of Israel."

According to Business Insider, Jenner removed the story about an hour after posting it, and pro-Palestinian comments continue to flood her Instagram.

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu officially declared "war" on Sunday after Hamas launched the attack and called for a massive military response.

"Citizens of Israel, we are at war — not in an operation, not in rounds — at war," Netanyahu said in a video message on Saturday.

Hamas terrorists have killed at least 600 Israelis and wounded at least 2,000 more in a surprise rocket attack. The group has also taken dozens of hostages within Gaza, and the Israeli military is preparing to engage.

Israel's security cabinet also declared war on Sunday, a decision that unlocks "significant military activities," Netanyahu's office announced, according to the Times of Israel.

Jenner's team did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

President Biden and other cabinet officials condemned the attacks on Saturday and reaffirmed the U.S.' support for Israel.

Sports / Twitter Explodes As Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-nassr Play Out 2-2 Draw With Abha by Allmiron: 7:35pm On Oct 06, 2023
Fans reacted online after Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr conceded a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 against Abha at home in the Saudi Pro League on Friday, October 6.

The Knights of Najd opened the deadlock in the third minute after a brilliant team move. Cristiano Ronaldo exquisitely backheeled the ball to Marcelo Brozovic. The Croatian then set up Otavio who buried the ball into the back of the net.

Al-Nassr continued to threaten and were rewarded for their dominance in the 29th minute. Sadio Mane fired a great cross into the path of Anderson Talisca who calmly finished past the keeper.

Abha, however, got back into the game just four minutes later after Otavio had a moment of madness by tackling Zakaria Al Sudani in the box, conceding a penalty. Saad Bguir made no mistake from the spot to half the deficit.

The away team had two glorious chances to level the scores in stoppage time but were unable to make the most of their chances. However, they looked much more composed in the second half and were able to reap their rewards in the 92nd minute.

Karl Toko Ekambi shocked Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. at the death by driving the ball into the top-left corner from outside the box. This ended Al-Nassr's 10-game win streak across all competitions, securing an important point for 15th-placed Abha.

Another fan blamed Cristiano Ronaldo, imploring Luis Castro to drop him for the next game. The Portugal megastar had a poor game, missing several big chances to score. He also completed zero accurate long balls.

Sports / Sir Alex Ferguson's Wife, Cathy, Is Dead At 84 by Allmiron: 7:22pm On Oct 06, 2023
Sir Alex Ferguson's wife Cathy has sadly passed away aged 84 leaving behind the former Manchester United manager and their three sons.

The Ferguson family issued a statement today which read: “We are deeply saddened to confirm the passing yesterday [Thursday] of Lady Cathy Ferguson, survived by her husband, three sons, two sisters, 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family asks for privacy at this time.”

Lady Cathy - formerly Holding - met Alex in 1964 and they were married in 1966 before giving birth to son Mark two years later, followed by twins, Darren and Jason, in 1972. She was incredibly supportive of her husband throughout his career at Old Trafford before he stepped down from his role and retired from football in 2013 to spend more time with her.

In fact, were it not for Cathy's intervention, Ferguson might well have ended up at one of United's rivals in north London when he was approached by Tottenham. "The directors, to a man, were enthusiastic endorsers of the choice (Ferguson). All aspects of the contract agreed," a book about Spurs, titled Still Dreaming, previously claimed.

Ferguson, 81, has not been present at the last of United's home matches. He revealed previously that he would have continued in the United hot-seat beyond his retirement at the end of the 2012/13 season were it not for the death of Cathy's twin sister and best friend Bridget.

"I definitely would have carried on,' Ferguson told the Daily Telegraph . "I saw she [Cathy] was watching television one night, and she looked up at the ceiling. I knew she was isolated. Her and Bridget were twins, you know?"

Ferguson explained how Cathy had persuaded him not to call time on his career when he announced his retirement many years earlier in 2002, reasoning: "One, your health is good. Two, I'm not having you in the house. And three, you're too young anyway

But officially retiring in 2013 after 27 years as United's manager, he recalled: "When I told her this time I was going to retire she had no objection whatsoever. I knew she wanted me to do it."

Cathy was by his side when he suffered a life-threatening brain haemorrhage in 2018, before making a full recovery. Son Jason recalled that Ferguson had even written goodbye letters during his recovery for fear he would leave Cathy and his family behind.

"He’d written to my mum, to me, my brothers and all his grandchildren. They were, basically, goodbye letters," Jason told The Guardian . As well as their three children, the couple also share 13 grandchildren. “Cathy is fantastic with the kids," Ferguson said. "It’s a military operation with her. If any of them misbehave, they’re in the doghouse.

Ferguson paid tribute to his wife after his farewell speech to United following his final home match in charge. He said: “I think a lot of the time, for 47 years, she’s been the leader of the family, looked after our three sons and sacrificed herself for me."

One of Ferguson's former players, Michael Carrick, revealed the United players were informed of his retirement in the dressing room where his boss became "emotional". Carrick recalls Ferguson telling his team: "I feel that I owe it to my wife to be with her and look after her."

Manchester United issued a statement paying tribute to Cathy, which read: "Everyone at Manchester United extends their sincere condolences to Sir Alex Ferguson and his family following the death of Lady Cathy. Lady Cathy was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, and a pillar to Sir Alex throughout his career."

United have lowered flags at Old Trafford and confirmed that players will wear black armbands for this weekend's Premier League clash with Brentford. The women's team, who play on Friday night against Arsenal, will also wear armbands.

Aberdeen - where Sir Alex Ferguson worked as manager from 1978 to 1986 - have also sent their condolences. The club said: "Everyone at Aberdeen FC sends their deepest condolences to Sir Alex and the Ferguson family at this very sad time.

Sports / Saudi Arabia Ready To Suspend Its Alcohol Ban To Boost Its Bid To Host 2034 WC by Allmiron: 2:28pm On Oct 06, 2023
SAUDI Arabia is ready to suspend its alcohol ban to boost its unpopular bid to stage the 2034 World Cup.

Fearing thousands of fans would shun a dry tournament, a compromise deal could see booze sold in hotels and restricted fan zones.

The Arab nation became the controversial favourite to host 2034 after Fifa handed the 2030 tournament to Spain, Portugal, Morocco — plus opening games in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay.

Critics accused football chiefs of grabbing “dirty money” from a state guilty of appalling human right abuses and the gruesome murder of a dissident journalist.

The Muslim country outlaws alcohol sale and consumption — and foreigners caught drinking face public flogging, huge fines, lengthy imprisonment and deportation.

But a Saudi source told The Sun: “Football fans will be allowed to drink if Saudi Arabia stages the World Cup.

It has not been publicly discussed but it is an accepted fact.

"We acknowledge very serious mistakes have been made in the past and want the world to understand that we are changing.”

Last year, Qatar broke its promise to allow beer sales at matches just two days before kick-off — banning sponsor Budweiser’s lager until after the evening call to prayer.

Sports / Paul Pogba Faces FOUR YEAR Football Ban As B Sample Confirms Positive Drugs Test by Allmiron: 2:17pm On Oct 06, 2023
Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is facing the risk of a four-year football ban after his testosterone B sample came back positive.

The France international has not featured for Juventus since he was suspended from playing after it was confirmed he had tested positive for testosterone. After being an unused substitute, Pogba was selected for a random test following the Old Lady's 3-0 win over Udinese on August 20.

That test showed elevated levels of testosterone, and a counter-analysis sample has since been checked, with that also coming back positive, according to Fabrizio Romano. The National Anti-Doping Tribunal will now determine the charge for Pogba, who could face a ban of between two and four years.

Meanwhile, Juventus are set to decide upon how to deal with Pogba's contract, as the Frenchman still has almost three years left on his current deal. Pogba re-joined Juventus following his release from United last summer, but struggled during his first season back at the Allianz Stadium.

Pogba missed around five months of action after undergoing surgery on a knee issue. He returned to the bench for the home game against Monza in January, before picking up another injury concern, this time it was his groin which kept him out for three Serie A matches.

After coming on as a second-half substitute against Torino and Roma, Pogba sustained a tear in his abductor muscle. He played a further eight times in all competitions, including first-half of the Europa League semi-final defeat against Sevilla, where he provided his first and only assist of the season.

Pogba had missed the final four matches through a hamstring problem but returned for pre-season as he tried to improve on what was a frustrating campaign. He was an unused substitute in that opening day victory over Udinese, before coming on against Bologna and Empoli - playing a combined 50 mimuted.
