Sports / PSG President Al Khelaifi On Mbappé: “Sign A New Deal Or Leave The Club". by Allmiron: 6:20pm On Jul 05, 2023
Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé must sign a new contract if he wants to stay at the club as the French champions will not let him leave for free next year, club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said on Wednesday.

Mbappé sent a letter to PSG last month stating that he had no intention of extending his contract, which expires in 2024.

But he later clarified that he had not asked the French club to allow him to move to Spanish giants Real Madrid, who have in the past tried and failed to land the World Cup-winning forward.

PSG face the dilemma of allowing Mbappé to run down the final year of his contract and being unable to recoup any of the €180 million ($195.7m) they spent in 2017 to sign him from AS Monaco.

"My position is very clear. I don't want to repeat it every time: if Kylian wants to stay, we want him to stay. But he needs to sign a new contract," Al-Khelaifi told reporters after unveiling Luis Enrique as the club's new manager.

"We don't want to lose the best player in the world for free, we can't do that. This is a French club.

"He said he would never leave for free. If he changes his mind today, it's not my fault. We don't want to lose the best player in the world for free, that's very clear."

Nasser Al Khelaifi: "Kylian Mbappé he has to decide next week or in two weeks. No more than this".

"If he does not want to sign a new contract, the door is OPEN".

"No one is bigger than the club, no player, not even me. It's very clear", told Le Parisien.

Mbappé has finished as Ligue 1's top scorer in the last five seasons and PSG will be eager to keep him having already lost Lionel Messi on a free transfer.

Messi, a seven-times Ballon d'Or winner, opted not to renew his contract for a move to Inter Miami.

Mbappé also said French President Emmanuel Macron had no influence on his career choices after the leader said he would push for the forward to stay in the country's capital.

Foreign Affairs / Rebel Wagner Leader 'to Move To Belarus' After Halting Uprising by Allmiron: 9:31pm On Jun 24, 2023
Russian mercenary group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin will move to Belarus and have criminal charges against him dropped, the Kremlin has said, after he pulled his fighters back from advancing on Moscow.

Prigozhin had earlier told his troops heading towards the Russian capital to turn back, saying he wants to avoid shedding Russian blood.

In an audio message, Prigozhin said his fighters - part of the private mercenary Wagner Group - would return to their bases.

He said that while his men were just 120 miles from Moscow, he decided to turn them back to avoid "shedding Russian blood"

Prigozhin had earlier vowed to "destroy anyone who stands in our way".

In his message, Prigozhin added: "In 24 hours we reached within 200km of Moscow. Over that time we didn't shed a single drop of our men's blood.

"Now though the time has come when blood might be shed. Therefore, mindful of the responsibility that Russian blood might be shed by one of the parties, we are turning our columns round and moving off in the opposite direction, to the field camps, according to plan."

In a statement, the Kremlin said all criminal charges against Prigozhin will be dropped, and none of the Wagner Group fighters will be prosecuted.

It also said the mercenary leader will move to Belarus, but does not currently know his location.

"Avoiding bloodshed was more important than punishing people," it added.

Earlier, the Russian president accused the leader of the Wagner group of treason and leading an "armed mutiny"

Travel / Titanic Submersible: Missing Craft Has About 40 Hours Of 'breathable Air Left' by Allmiron: 7:37pm On Jun 20, 2023
The five people on board the missing submersible close to the wreck of the Titanic have "about 40 hours of breathable air" left, the US Coastguard has said.

In an update on Tuesday, Captain Jamie Frederick said the search for the vessel, called Titan, had not yielded any results so far.

An ROV (remotely operated underwater vehicle) has been deployed at the site and has a camera on board.

A unified command has been set up, consisting of "expertise from the United States Coast Guard, the United States Navy, Canadian Armed Forces and Coast Guard, and the Titan's parent company, Ocean Gate Expeditions", Mr Frederick said.

Since Sunday, combined search efforts have covered an area of 7,600 square miles, he added.

A Canadian P-3 aircraft is conducting a six hour search and several C-130 aircraft and another P-3 are scheduled to fly on Tuesday afternoon and evening, he said.

The combination of a surface search and a subsurface search make it an "incredibly complex operation", Mr Frederick said.

A retired US Navy submarine commander said the hunt for the Titan is like "searching a football pitch with a magnifying glass

Captain David Marquet told Sky News he finds it "concerning that they haven't found it yet"

He went on: "It's probably on the bottom - it's not on the surface. I imagine they're going inch-by-inch and searching a big area on the bottom where it could be.

"We could get lucky and we could find it, but we don't like to bank on luck."

Captain Marquet said the tone of the Tuesday briefing suggested "they've kind of admitted the chances are really, really slim"

The Coast Guard and other search and rescue crews have swarmed a remote area in the Atlantic in search of the vessel, which went missing on Sunday with five people on board.

Rescuers have expanded their search into deeper waters.

It is understood from the vessel's operator, OceanGate Expeditions, that the Titan had a 96-hour oxygen supply in case of emergencies.

The five people on board are British billionaire Hamish Harding, Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman, chief executive and founder of OceanGate Expeditions, Stockton Rush, and French submersible pilot Paul-Henri Nargeolet.

Mr Dawood is married and has two children, the family said in a statement. He is vice chairman of Pakistan's Engro Corporation.

He and his son Suleman, who is currently studying at university, are British citizens.

The major search and rescue operation is taking place some 435 miles south of Newfoundland, Canada.

The Canadian research icebreaker Polar Prince, which was supporting the Titan, reportedly lost contact with the vessel about an hour and 45 minutes after it submerged.

The wreckage of the Titanic, which sank in 1912 after hitting an iceberg, lies at a depth of about 12,500 feet (3,810 metres).

The Titan submersible usually takes two hours to descend to the wreck

I don't wish to be dragged into Messi vs Ronaldo goat debate.
Although I'm of the opinion Messi is a better player but I still realise there are millions who in their own right, believe Ronaldo is the GOAT - reason I used the expression 2goats.
Everyone is entitled to his own opinion.

You must also acknowledge that the great rivalry between the two, helped push them to their limits to break certain records & achieve major feats. ✌️

There can't be 2 captain on a ship. The reason why they use acronym GOAT, it's meant for the outstanding individual in their chosen career. Messi has always been clear of Penaldo, there was never a debate in the past.

King James is the GOAT in the NBA, whereas Steve Curry had the most 3 points in NBA history, you don ever hear him call himself goat cos of 3 pointers. There can only be one GOAT and the only recognized one is Leo Messi, those millions who call him goat are nothing but his pendulums, in the scheme of things their opinions doesn't matter. I can also call Osimehn a goat, if you want to use that analog

Make I clear you one last, there was never a rivalry between Messi and Pendu, Messi has always been clear, na his deluded fan dey promote their delusion in their heads.

Messi is the GOAT, the only globally recognized goat. Prior to the world that sick Pendu dey call him sef goat, after the world cup he dare not use that tag again cos he'll be dragged, he knows he's behind Messi, and he will always be in history books. #factsNoEmotions

In the next 100 years, 2goats in the caliber of Messi & Ronaldo may never grace the football stage.

So we should all count ourselves lucky to be among the generation that witnessed 2 such goats.  cool

However, there will be 1million Pristiano Penaldo, we dey don see em, Dem don dey compare him with the likes of Mbappe and Haaland, have you ever see any player ball like Messi, dead or alive??...never not in this generation, he's one of a kind.

If you wan enter argument bring World Cup to the table. There's only one GOAT that's Leo, any other acclaimed goat na counterfeit

Sports / Lionel Messi Wins Laureus World Sportsman Of The Year Award by Allmiron: 7:19pm On May 08, 2023
Lionel Messi has been named sportsman of the year at the Laureus World Sports Awards.

Messi, who finally realised his World Cup dream in Qatar, also accepted the team of the year award on behalf of Argentina, who beat France on penalties in last year’s epic final.

The 35-year-old accepted the accolades at a ceremony in Paris just hours after it was confirmed that he had returned to Paris Saint-Germain following a club suspension.

The Argentine has become the only footballer in history to ever win the award twice. He is also the only football player to ever win it

He said: “This is a special honour, particularly as the Laureus World Sports Awards are in Paris this year, the city that has welcomed my family since we came here in 2021. I want to thank all my teammates, not only from the national team but also at PSG — I have achieved none of this alone and I am grateful to be able to share everything with them.”

These were the nominees:

- Steph Curry (USA) Basketball

- Mondo Duplantis (Sweden) Athletics

- Kylian Mbappe (France) Football

- Lionel Messi (Argentina) Football

- Rafael Nadal (Spain) Tennis

- Max Verstappen (Netherlands) Motor Racing
