Worse still, Tinubu has refused to roll up his sleeves and do the work that he signed up for. Instead, he and his team are preoccupied with behaving like Napoleon and Squealer, characters in the satire book Animal Farm, who made it a state policy scapegoating Snowball (the opposition) their own failures arising from their ill-advised policies.

The Tinubu govt. that budgeted 15 billion for presidential yatch, but asked the poor masses to endure these baby steps of pain?

What differentiates Argentina President from Tinubu is that, Milei was prepared and he is there to serve his county people, meanwhile Tinubu came unprepared and he is only there to enrich his family/friends and reward his loyal people. His personal interest is always above national interest.

May Tinubu not happen to Nigeria again in 2027, Amin šŸ™šŸ¼

It is a plan that I am more than willing to disclose details of its workings with the current government in order to take Nigeria out of the depth of hunger and anger that we find ourselves.

The plan includes strategic steps we must take to recover the economy and make it stronger, dynamic, resilient, and competitive.

We had outlined plans to relax the fiscal constraints facing us to include:

ā€¢ Improving Spending Efficiency and Blocking Leakages
ā€¢ Saving money through:
a. A review of fiscal support for non-performing government enterprises and the privatization of those that can not sustain themselves.
b. Steps to improve spending efficiency through a gradual reduction in government recurrent expenditures, ensuring that those expenditures reflect higher levels of service delivery. Over the medium term, recurrent expenditures should not exceed 45% of the budget.
c. A review of government procurement processes to ensure high levels of transparency, competitiveness, and value-for-money and eliminate all leakages.

Politics / Take Cues From Argentina: Atiku Writes Tinubu Again On The State Of The Economy by AllTheWayUp: 5:27pm On Feb 25
President Javier Milei of Argentina was sworn into office on 10 December 2023. He inherited a worse condition than Nigeria's.

But what he did to return his country to a place where investors are ā€˜starting to believeā€™ should serve as a lesson to Nigeriaā€™s Bola Tinubu.

I read a recent report in the Reuters titled: Argentinaā€™s market double down on Milei as investors ā€˜start to believeā€™.
I took a keen interest in reading the report because I know quite well that Argentina and Nigeria closed the last quarter of the year 2023 on a similar path of economic downturn.

In the case of Nigeria, a new government was installed at or about the middle of 2023, for Argentina, the new government came on board in December.

Both leaders inherited a disoriented economy, but both applied different measures to recovery.

Nigeria is where we are today simply because of what Tinubu has done or did not do.

His shifting the blame on the opposition and, even ridiculously, his predecessor is needless and myopic. Market forces donā€™t play politics. They respond to your actions and inactions.

President Mileiā€™s major campaign promise was to re-position the Argentine economy after years of slow growth, high debt levels, triple-digit inflation (160% when he took over the Presidency in December 2023) and 40% poverty rate.

His first task was to begin implementing measures to achieve greater macroeconomic stability and promote higher global competitiveness.

He came into the office with a comprehensive stabilization plan, which seeks to implement far-reaching measures within the context of a market-oriented economy.

He started off cutting government expenditure by cutting the size of government and wastages; blocked stealing of government funds, and attracted Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) through concessions, tax holidays, and improved ease of doing business.

President Milei flies regular business class for all his travels and does not offer the presidential fleet of Argentina for his sonā€™s birthday.

Likewise, there is no settlement for his hangers-on and political allies through unwieldy and burdensome appointments to public offices.

Argentinaā€™s Milei did not build the largest government like Tinubu did at a time when our economy was and still on its knees.

The examples set by President Milei are the requirement of leadership in a time when the economy has begun to fail the expectations of the people.

The reforms so far implemented by the Tinubu administration are ad hoc and hurriedly put together without proper review. Ours is unlike Argentinaā€™s Milei, who is sequencing his reforms.

President Milei anticipates the after-reform shocks and admits that things will be tough for the people. But he is fully prepared for the aftershocks and has in place mitigating pills.

He walks the talk. He makes sacrifices himself by giving up perks of office.

It is not business-as-usual for the presidency while the people are called upon to make sacrifices.

Argentina runs a lean government by reducing the number of ministries, privatizing nearly 40 state-owned enterprises, and reducing wasteful spending
.

Conversely, Tinubu in Nigeria increased the number of ministers and ministries and is spending enormous resources renovating houses for himself, his deputy, and the first lady.

That is nothing short of Nero playing fiddle while Rome is on fire!

Worse still, Tinubu has refused to roll up his sleeves and do the work that he signed up for. Instead, he and his team are preoccupied with behaving like Napoleon and Squealer, characters in the satire book Animal Farm, who made it a state policy scapegoating Snowball (the opposition) for their own failures arising from their ill-advised policies.

Unless, and until there are clear-cut policies and pathway to economic rejuvenation predicated on a leadership led sacrifice, there will be discontentment, especially among the youths, which may find expression in protests and for which it will be silly to continue to blame the opposition for. -AA

Politics / They Want To Impeach Me - Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu by AllTheWayUp: 12:30pm On Feb 25
Philip Shaibu, Edo deputy governor, has alleged a fresh plot to impeach him.

On Thursday, Shaibu was declared winner of a factional governorship primary election that reportedly held at his residence in Benin City, the state capital.

Asue Ighodalo was also announced winner of another PDP primary exercise which took place at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin.

Speaking in Abuja on Saturday, Shaibu said his team revealed the alleged plot to impeach him over his ambition.

He, however, said he would not be deterred as contesting the Edo governorship election is his constitutional right.

ā€œEven as we speak, my team has been calling me that, ā€˜Look at what these people are doing. They are saying they are going to impeach you, that you have gotten too far.ā€™ They are threatening to impeach me,ā€ he said.

ā€œAnd I said, well, if fighting for my rights and all of us collectively fighting for our rights, which is in the constitution, can trigger impeachment, so be it because fighting for my rights and saying I must contest the election is my constitutional rights and cannot be taken by anybody.

ā€œSo, if constitutional right is why they will now trigger impeachment, the courts are there, they will interpret it.ā€

Shaibu added that Ighodalo does not have what it takes to win the September 21 governorship election in the state.

ā€œIf the party wants to win the election, they will not go for Ighodalo. If the party wants to win the election, the people have spoken, and they have spoken very loud and clearly,ā€ he said.

ā€œIf people can stand bullets to say this is who we want, then the party should follow that direction.ā€

He added that a coalition called legacy coalition has been formed to encourage collaboration and support among members of the PDP.

He also said he has appointed Kenneth Asekomhe, a former Edo APC deputy chairman, to chair a committee to reach out to Ighodaloā€™s camp to forge a united front for the PDP in the election.

ā€œHe is the chairman of the committee that I have set up to reach out to the Ighodalo group for us to have a discussion to see how we will go because it is only him that is not on board,ā€ Shaibu said.

ā€œThe leader of the legacy coalition is Dan Orbih. We are working together and that is why it is important that Ighodalo join the legacy coalition because the coalition is those that were in APC that moved to PDP to meet those that were already in PDP.

ā€œThose that were in PDP that we met are the legacy. The coalition now is that we joined the old PDP moving together because we donā€™t want to hear new and old PDP and that is why we call it a legacy coalition.ā€

Another X user shared another resident of the state who said that he was at the Customs office in the Yaba area of the State to buy rice and there were at least 10,000 people struggling to buy rice but uniformed officers from all forces were given special attention.
ā€œI went to that Customs place in Yaba today to buy Rice. Let's just say this country has zero chance of being better. They beat the shit out of us in the queue.
ā€œUniform officers from all forces were given priority. There are at least 10,000 people. When I had enough, I went back to my house. 5 hours wasted.
This is horrible, if Government had a good database of households across the county , the stupid military and para military officers will not have the audacity to cheat and intimidate hungry Nigerian citizens

End SARs 2.0 ( End Hunger protest) will inevitably break out all over Nigeria in matter of weeks.
Hunger knows no tribe or religion or political party affiliation, Hunger protest and looting of businesses will break out all across the country .. it is inevitable due to the lackadaisical and arrogant attitude of Tinubu Government to tackle the root causes of inflation and reduced purchasing power among Nigeria which were caused by Tinubuā€™s uniformed decision to remove Subsidy and completely float a already weak Naira in an import dependent economize Nigeria
Tinubu has been a monumental disaster and an abomination to mankind

Edo people do not want Asue Ighodalo to be the governor of Edo State because he is not a homeboy they know.

ā€œThey are looking for someone that they know, somebody they can feel, somebody they can touch. PDP has a date with history, delegates have spoken that they want Shuaibu and I can bet you that the other eight aspirants will support Shuaibu if they party back him.

"If the party decides to join us in court to argue for Ighodalo then PDP then winning Edo State for PDP will be shaky because Asue will not be accepted by the people,ā€ Shaibu said.

Sports / Federal Government withdraws fund for Nigeria Basketball Team by AllTheWayUp: 9:37pm On Feb 21
After releasing N12 billion for Super Eagles, Dā€™Tigers to miss AfroBasket qualifiers over lack of funds from Tinubuā€™s government

The Nigeria national basketball team, Dā€™Tigers, will not feature in the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket championship after the team opted out of the qualifiers over lack of funds from the government.

ā€œDespite several 2020 Olympians committing, Dā€™Tigers will forfeit this AfroBasket Qualifiers window due to lack of funds from government,ā€ the official X account of the Dā€™Tigers posted on Wednesday.

The 2015 champions, drawn in Group B of the 2025 AfroBasket qualifiers alongside Cape Verde, Libya and Uganda, are due to participate in the qualifying tournament scheduled for Tunisia in the next two days.

Unfortunately, Nigeria will not participate in the qualifiers with the flight tickets for team members yet to be booked due to lack of funds as at the time of filing this report, thereby forfeiting their participation in the main tournament next year.

It is not the first time that paucity of funds has threatened the Dā€™Tigersā€™ participation in a major basketball tournament. In 2019, the team nearly missed out on featuring in the 2019 FIBA World Cup until a late intervention by Muhammadu Buhari-led government.

Dā€™Tigersā€™ fate is completely different from that of the Nigeria national football team, Super Eagles, who recently participated at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations as president Bola Tinubu released 12 billion naira for the team heading into the tournament.

Meanwhile, it is unclear whether Mr Tinubuā€™s government will come up with a late intervention plan for the team to participate in qualifiers in the face of economic crisis raging the whole country as the naira continues to free fall
