Romance / Poll: Have You Ever Been In An Abusive relationship? by ALocoVivaVoce: 8:38am On Nov 17, 2015
Hello readers, welcome to another Poll Tuesday on A Loco Viva Voce.

Last week, I asked you what age you were when you lost your virginity and surprisingly, majority of the votes were tied between 16-20 years and 21 years and above.

I honestly don’t know why I expected worse.

However, 26% are still virgins and 3% lost their virginity between 10 and 15 years old. For those in the last category, I really hope you were not forced to commit the act at such young age. If you were then I’m really sorry.

Today’s poll is also a very personal question that asks “HAVE YOU EVER BEEN IN AN ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP?”

Remember that he does not have to hit you or beat you to a pulp before you know that you are in an abusive relationship. I discussed the various types of abuse in last week’s post http://alocovivavoce.com/2015/11/09/2-out-of-3-women-have-been-abused-are-you-one-of-them/. Kindly familiarise yourself with the various types of abuse before you vote.

Happy voting!

Politics / Adams Oshiomole: A One Eyed Man In The Kingdom Of The Blind! by ALocoVivaVoce: 9:06am On Nov 16, 2015
You all probably know the saying “a one eyed man is KING in the kingdom of the blind”. This saying in question is the best way I could describe our dear country Nigeria. The states of our country are the kingdom of the blind and the governors of these states are the “ONE EYED MEN”!

For the purpose of emphasis, I am going to be using Governor Adams Oshiomole as my case study for today.

So I recently stumbled upon a piece of news that said Governor Adams Oshiomole (current Edo State governor) accused Former Edo State governor, Lucky Igbinedion and his billionaire father Gabriel Igbinedion of converting state property to their family use while he was governor.

In response to Oshiomole, Lucky released a statement saying “Oshiomole is biggest thief in Edo state as of today”. He refuted allegations of corruption, stating that documents pertaining to his tenure as governor of the state were open for public scrutiny. He said Oshiomole should explain to residents of the state what he has done with the trillions of federal and state allocations he collected over the years. Read the full statement here!!

I am not writing this post to support Lucky Igbinedion. We all know he was the worst governor any state could have ever had but my question is “Is Oshiomole really any better?”

Let me dissect it a little so you all can understand.

THE TENTH GENERATION

(1717)

Chika’s greed leads him to the lairs of his village’s most-feared god, Alaogbaga. His pledge to the god is simple enough: ‘Protect me and make me rich, then take my life after fifteen years’.

Fifteen years later, Chika doesn’t want to die. To preserve his life, he makes another pact with the devil; the god, Alaogbaga, will be born to Chika’s lineage in the tenth generation. A black bead is given to Chika by the chief priest, it must be passed from generation to generation until the child is born. It is the sign of the covenant.

Somehow, the knowledge of this covenant is left in the hand of a group of devoted men, called The Saviours, who have sworn to right the wrongs of Chika. They will stand to stop the evil the tenth generation will bring to the world. The bead must be destroyed only after the child is born but before it is given to him by his father.

1985

Mark, the descendant of Chika, impregnates Juliet and refuses to claim responsibility. The young girl dies after labour when she gives birth to a strange child. The doctors and nurses refuse to have anything to do with that monster and he is taken to a motherless babies home.

Romance / Should I Go On A Vacation With An Ex? Help! by ALocoVivaVoce: 11:43am On Nov 13, 2015
Hello guys, it’s Feature Friday! Every Friday I would be sharing a real life experience and situation of a reader who needs my opinion. If you have a situation that you need my opinion on, email me on featurefriday@alocovivavoce.com.

Hello OUR,

My name is Atinuke and I need your advice. Early last year, I dated a guy for about a year. When I met him, he was very sweet and exactly the kind of guy I needed. But as time went by, he completely changed and became the total opposite of the person I fell in love with.

Early this year (a year into our relationship), I realized that things were not the way they should be, so I gradually pulled away from him. I stopped calling, stopped going to see him, stopped sleeping with him and basically just started acting as though I was not in a relationship with him anymore.

After I pulled away, we went incommunicado for a while. I guess he got used to me constantly calling that it took him TWO WEEKS to finally get in touch with me and all he could say was he was calling to say “hi”.

Fast forward six months after what I would assume was our “breakup”, he only called sparingly and as always was simply calling to check on me and say “hi”.

Although he had tried to see me a few times during these six months, I never gave him the chance until few weeks ago when he finally came to see me and things kind of got confusing.

you ruined the whole essence of your post by mentioning a kardashian. that's like saying, Eureka moments. do they occur more that once in a lifetime? and then using a psychotic patient as case study.

Regardless of the social strata of the kardashians, one cannot deny that khloe and lamar shared a strong bond. I mean who leaves a happy relationship to go be by the side of an ex you're at the verge of divorcing if it really isn't true love.

They may be infamous but they're first and foremost human and equally capable of love just like everybody else.

Romance / True Love – Does It Happen More Than Once In A lifetime? by ALocoVivaVoce: 10:21am On Nov 11, 2015
Hello people,

The reason I decided to write this post today is as a result of the ongoing situation with Khloe Kardashian and her “still” husband Lamar Odom. He is still officially her husband because their divorce isn’t finalized yet and they apparently recently signed a divorce dismissal meaning their divorce is currently on hold.

While I was reading their story, it made me realize that Khloe has actually given up so much in order to see Lamar through his recovery process. She put her relationship with James Harden on hold, she also put her book tour on hold and she is currently at war with her ex step dad Caitlyn Jenner – ALL FOR LAMAR!

This obviously led me to ask the ultimate question. WHY?

Why is she putting herself through all of this? I understand she shared a big part of her life with Lamar but for someone that has been en route to a divorce for a few years now and is currently in a relationship with someone else, WHY is she so involved in the recovery process of her almost ex husband?

Suddenly, the reason became glaring, SHE IS STILL IN LOVE WITH HIM.

While processing all of these thoughts in my head, it dawned on me that maybe, just maybe, we are entitled to only ONE DOSE of true love in our entire lifetime.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mean we only love once, NO! I mean we only have one “LOVE OF OUR LIVE”. The rest would just be the regular type of love. Like the type we would have for someone close to us or for our family or kids.

But I strongly believe that HEAD OVER HEELS, ONE OF A KIND, OVER THE MOON, CAN DIE FOR YOU kind of love only happens ONCE in our lifetime.

Romance / 2 Out Of 3 Women Have Been Abused. Are You One Of them? by ALocoVivaVoce: 8:49am On Nov 09, 2015
Statistics say that TWO (2) out of EVERY THREE (3) women have been abused in one way or the other. I know some of us might say “well, I haven’t”. So let me go ahead and define the word “abuse” for clarification.

Abuse means to treat (a person or animal) with cruelty or violence, especially regularly or repeatedly.

Now it said cruelty OR violence. It didn’t say only violence. So even if your partner is yelling, screaming at you, calling you names or intentionally embarrassing you or even stalking you, YOU ARE BEING ABUSED.

Romance / He Says He Wants Me But He Never Keeps In Touch. help! by ALocoVivaVoce: 8:34am On Nov 06, 2015

Hello OUR,

My name is Ola and I was in a relationship with a guy for six years before I broke up with him. Over the years, so many issues came up between us and by January of this year, I realized that we just couldn’t be together anymore so I called it off.

Fast forward to September of this same year (few months ago), I met a guy who literally swept me off my feet and I to him too, he said! :-D

The following day after meeting each other, we went out on our first date which was amazing as we got talking and got to know each other better.

Few days later, we had our second date but rather than go out, I went to his house instead and as you would imagine, we got a little bit intimate but nothing really happened.

We got talking some more after the second date and from what I know about him thus far, I definitely like him and he is exactly the type of man I have always hoped on marrying. The only problem is that HE NEVER REALLY CALLS.

After that first week when we had our first and second date, he barely called or text me afterwards and even though we’re still very much in touch and still see each other, he is never usually the one to initiate a conversation either via phone call, text, chat etc. I do most of the calling and text of which he actually responds non-hesitantly.

The tricky part of my story which is why I am writing to you is that the last time we went out on a date, he specifically told me how much he wanted to be with me and notwithstanding, I think of him almost EVERYDAY and I REALLY wish something good comes out of our relationship BUT unfortunately, even after his speech about wanting me, he still hardly keeps in touch without waiting for me to reach out first.

What do I do about this situation OUR? Do I go with the flow and accept that maybe he isn’t really big on keeping in touch (I actually know some people that are that way). It’s not like they don’t care, it’s just how they are.

Or do I just let him be? Tell me OUR, am I being desperate?

Family / Should The Girls Impregnated By Boko Haram Keep The pregnancy? by ALocoVivaVoce: 8:56am On Nov 04, 2015
Sometime ago, we read in the news that over TWO HUNDRED (200) girls were rescued in the Sambisa forest in Borno State and that all of those girls were raped and impregnated by Boko Haram.

The girls narrated their unsettling encounter on how they DO NOT even know who the father of their babies are amongst the lot because the Boko Haram boys took turns in sleeping with them EVERY NIGHT. So it literally could be any one of them.

Such a pitiable dismay that was as most of the girls were still in secondary school and below the age of eighteen. And to have experienced rape at such an extreme level is unfathomable.

Nairaland / General / Have You Ever Rubbed Your Success In Anyone’s face? by ALocoVivaVoce: 8:19am On Nov 03, 2015
Hello readers, welcome to another Poll Tuesday on A Loco Viva Voce.

Last week, I asked you guys what you would do with Six hundred (600) million naira and the votes were tied between buying different properties and putting them on rent and investing the money in a thriving business.

Today’s poll is all about those people that feel the constant need to remind us of their success. The question is: HAVE YOU EVER RUBBED YOUR SUCCESS IN ANYONE’S FACE?

It doesn’t necessarily have to be monetary success. It could be that you got selected after a job interview and your friend didn’t. Did you rub it in their face blatantly or even subtly? Or maybe you came out tops in your class. Did you make everyone uncomfortable by constantly reminding them of how genius you are?

Those are just a few examples. So search yourself and answer truthfully guys.

Happy voting!

Are you trying to say Linda didn't make a wise decision by buying the mansion? You didn't have to bring her into this. There is a difference between winning a lotto and getting 600 million, and having over 600 million in the bank, while still sure to make about 40 million Naira monthly.

Anyway, if I won 600 million today, the first thing I would do is...I would deposit 599 million in the bank, and then go to one cheap motel somewhere in Ilorin, and book a room for a week (which might not cost me up to 20k). And then I would plan how to invest that money.

Yes I actually dont agree with Linda choice of investment. You can read my opinion here.http://alocovivavoce.com/2015/10/21/i-have-a-house-in-banana-island-yaay-linda-ikeji/

Hello readers, welcome to another Poll Tuesday on A Loco Viva Voce. On last week’s poll, I asked you what you would do in the case of an unwanted pregnancy. Majority said they would keep the pregnancy without marrying their partner. 23% said they would Abort the pregnancy or keep the pregnancy and marry their partner, 18% said they would give birth and leave the baby to be raised by their parents or partner’s parents and 5% said they would give birth and abandon the baby in motherless babies home, in a church or on the streets. How cruel of those that make up the 5%.

Today’s poll is aimed to discover the “extravagant” amongst us. Let’s all pretend to be as rich as Linda Ikeji for a second. The question is “IF YOU WERE LINDA IKEJI AND HAD SIX HUNDRED (600) MILLION NAIRA (over $3 million), WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH IT?

Dear Dabota,

I hope this letter meets you well and I sure hope being married to a billionaire is treating you well too. It must really be going well indeed because I hear you have recently trademarked the name “Billionaire Wife” and also opened your company under the same name of “Billionaire Wife”.

In all earnest, I am very much happy for you that you are able to make the best of out your marriage by making a name for yourself via your billionaire husband’s wealth channel.

However, the reason I am writing you this letter is to ask you why you feel the entire country especially the female gender is upset with the fact that you married a billionaire. I have always wondered why you feel the constant need to remind us that you and your husband are very much in love and are not at the verge of breaking up.

Hello OUR,

My name is Sarah and I have been married for a year now. My husband is a Pastor and we have a lovely son together. The fact that my husband is a Pastor makes him a very wonderful and religious person which I admire so much but for whatever reason, he doesn’t like me having family around.

Let me give you some instances.

In the city we live in, I have only two family members. Both are my male cousins who are also married with a child each. One of them is quite dependable but the other one is a loner and doesn’t really like to mingle with anyone.

For the one that likes to mingle, is it a crime to visit him every now and then and have him come visit as well?

There was a time when my husband traveled for two weeks and my cousin and his wife were planning on coming to visit during this time to know our new house as we just moved.
