The truth is that Nigerians are righteously indignant of the years of locusts that they are not in the mood to put up with any vacillation or vacuous rhetoric on issues that have to do with political_economy. I pray that Mr President responds prestissimo to the legitimate yearnings of our people, given the crest of goodwill upon which he ascended power.” Patrick Obahiagbon http://lindaikeji..com/2011/09/as-president-goodluck-jonathan-marks.html |

Among the victims of the clash, which occured at the airport during President Goodluck Jonathan’s visit to the city, was the PDP Chairman in Oluyole Local Government Area, Elder Oyelade Akinlade. Oyelade, it was gathered, was still unconscious at the Renewth Clinic and Maternity, Oremeji, Argungu , Ibadan, where he was rushed to for medical attention. A source at the hospital yesterday said doctors were still battling to revive the party chairman, as he was yet to regain consciousness. Some ACN supporters were also said to have sustained injuries from the fracas which occurred outside the main gate leading to the airport. A heated argument between the two opposition groups was said to have resulted in a free for all, leaving many severely injured. According to an eyewitness account, trouble started when security men disallowed some of the party supporters entry into the airport. Some members of the ACN were said to have frowned at what they described as an illegal party rally at the airport by some PDP supporters, who allegedly turned the occasion into a party jamboree. The PDP supporters were said to have started singing and dancing in a manner the ACN supporters considered offensive. When the PDP supporters persisted, the ACN supporters were said to have also mobilised their members and started singing and dancing; an action the PDP supporters also considered offensive. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/09/ajimobi-akala-bicker-over-ibadan-flood-as-jonathan-visits/ |

Many times, all these struggling evangelists/pastors envy prosperous ones and try to associate them with all sorts of evil. If you need a job as a pastor, why not approach RCCG for employment instead of castigating them out of envy?. |

Friday, September 2, 2011 Oyo launches free health scheme From Iyabo Lawal, Ibadan GOVERNOR Abiola Ajimobi yesterday flagged off free health services for all residents in the state. The project, which is run in partnership with the Development Support Initiative (DSI), kicked off in 10 of the 33 local councils. Interim Chairman, Ibadan North Local Council, where the scheme was flagged off, Idris Lapade, stated that 120 medical workers, including 10 surgeons, dentists, opticians, pharmacists and other paramedics, were lined up for treatment of different ailments. Ten beds were also provided for surgery. Lapade explained that the programme would be repeated every two or three months until it is integrated into the state's healthcare system. Although the scheme recorded low turnout initially, residents later showed up after discovering that the treatment was free and devoid of party affiliation. One of the consultants on the scheme, Dr. Oluyombo Peters, described the response as "impressive." He said the team treated hypertension and diabetes as well as some minor ailments while some victims of last Friday's flood disaster also showed up to complain of skin and eye-related problems. http://www.nigeriannewspapersworld.com/plus/view.php?aid=12472 |
Pains as Lagos roads get flooded, again Written by Olalekan Olabulo, Lagos Friday, September 2, 2011 THERE was palpable tension and anxiety among residents of many parts of Lagos State on Thursday, following the heavy flood that greeted the rain in most parts of the state. The fears among the residents of the state were heightened by the widespread reports that the state would witness a heavy rain and flooding. The Thursday rain created serious traffic gridlock in many parts of the state, including the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, Lagos axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and Abeokuta Expressway in the state. Residents of areas like Sogunle, Ile-Epo, Agege, Ikeja, Iyana Ipaja, Abule Egba Ijaiye and Meiran had a hectic time scooping water from their houses, during the rain that lasted for more than three hours. Some of the roads in the state were also flooded, thereby making movement of vehicles difficult and creating serious traffic gridlock along the major roads in the state. Residents of Ile Epo, Abule Egba and Iyana Ipaja areas were forced to stay for about an hour and watch the flood subside, before venturing out as a result of the heavy flood that completely overran the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway Traders at Ile Epo Market also faced difficulty in moving their goods in and out of the market as the roads that led to the market were completely flooded with porters reportedly charging exorbitant fares. The Nigerian Tribune was informed by many of the residents of the state that the fear of the forecasted downpour forced them to watch and see the effect of the rain. Some youths around Ladipo area of Oshodi took advantage of the downpour and the flood to make brisk money from pedestrians by providing a makeshift bridge over a flooded canal at Ladipo Bus Stop [img]http://odili.net/news/source/2011/sep/2/tribune/images/fp02092011[1].jpg[/img] The flooded Ojota bridge in Lagos, after a downpour on Thursday.
