Christ Embassy Pastor, Skipped Most Important Question At Mercy Johnson's Wedding By staff 6 hours 52 minutes ago Guys pls dont crucify me before you read this, to me this is very strange. I haven't seen a wedding where the official in charge of the wedding (especially a Pastor) will skip the VERY Important question, (objection to the wedding) this question is always supposed to be asked even in a law court. "IS THERE ANYONE WHO OBJECTS TO THIS WEDDING?" For me I believe this question is very important because this is the main part of the wedding ceremony, and this is done to make sure that neither party wasn't already married and to make sure that both parties are in consent to the marriage and It used to be part of the ceremony for legal reasons as this will help the officiating minister stay out of legal trouble having declared that neither party was already married. Well for me it goes to show that the church knows something was not right and they just squeezed all the scenes together because the pastor was smart, Pastor Tom Obiazi of Christ Embassy smartly skipped all the wahala Question/scenes and he went ahead to officiate and bless the union. Well against all odds, Mercy Johnson is a married woman, once married your status can no longer be single, the next option is either seperated or divorce (Thats not my prayer for them) I wish them a successful marriage. http://news2.onlinenigeria.com/headlines/109060-christ-embassy-pastor-skipped-most-important-question-at-mercy-johnson039s-wedding.html |

A security guard watches the Jackson Street property that is owned by the Nigerian government- The neighboring property, located at 3247 Jackson St., is owned by the Republic of Nigeria and was once the home of the consulate general. The problem for Ventura and her neighbors has been getting in touch with the Nigerian government to maintain and secure its vacant 4,200-square-foot home. After years of complaining, Ventura only received a response this month. Now a private security guard stands over the property to keep out the squatters Ventura says have occasionally taken up residence at the posh home, which is valued at $2.8 million. http://news2.onlinenigeria.com/news/top-stories/109056-nigerian-government-house-in-san-francisco-worth-28-million-left-vacant-for-years.html |

Jonathan and his many women | Print | E-mail Written by Tunde Ogunesan Tuesday, 30 August 2011 President Goodluck Jonathan has made good his promise by giving 32 per cent slot in his cabinet to women. Tunde Ogunesan examines the qualities of the women in Jonathan's cabinet. I promised women a 35 per cent slot in my cabinet and I fulfilled that vow, because it is my desire to ensure a level playing field in Nigeria by heading an administration where ethnicity, gender and religion do not hinder qualified persons from fulfilling their potential. It is also the reason I ordered the admission of women to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) a first in Nigeria. Women should brace up to be all they want to be in life as this administration will be an enabler of your progress.” https://tribune.com.ng/images/stories/website_images/women_ministers.jpg Middle: President Goodluck Jonathan, 1: Mrs Sarah Ochekpe; 2: Hajia Zainab Ibrahim-Kuchi; 3: Stella Oduah -Ogiemwonyi; 4: Professor Ruqayyat Rufai; 5: Ama Pepple ; 6: Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; 7: Diezani Alison-Madueke; 8: Omobola Johnson; 9: Olusola Obada; 10: Prof. Viola Onwuliri; 11: Jumoke Akinjide; 12: Hadiza Ibrahim Mai Lafia; 13: Hajia Zainab Maina Those were the words of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on his Facebook wall, announcing to his over 25,202,873 friends of his loyalty to the female folk. The president reaffirmed his support and love for the Nigerian women by making two firsts as regards the female folk in Nigeria. The first; he became the first Nigerian president ever to give such percentage to women in his cabinet as far as federal appoi-ntment is concerned. Secondly, as revealed on the social network page, he, for the first time in the 52 years history of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) “ordered the admission of women” into the military school. Demonstrating his love and desire to work with more women, President Jonathan, appointed 13 female ministers as members of his cabinet more than any of his predecessors, cutting across the geo-political zones of the country. Jonathan’s vow of increasing the percentage of women in his cabinet might not be unconnected with the resolution from the 1995 conference in Beijing, when women agreed that despite their widespread movement towards democratisation in most countries, women are largely under-represented at most levels of government, especially in ministerial and other executive bodies, and have made little progress in attaining political power in legislative bodies or in achieving the target endorsed by the economic and social council of having 30 per cent women in positions at decision-making levels by 1995. With the Women for Change Initiative campaign championed by his wife, Patience, Jonathan even went beyond the 30 per cent Beijing recommendation to appoint 13 women out of 41 ministers as ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. They are: Hajia Zainab Maina;Minister for Women Affairs, Adamawa State; Mrs. Stella Oduah-Ogiemwonyi- Honourable Minister of Aviation, Anambra State; Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke; Minister for Petroleum, Bayelsa State, Hajia Zainab Ibrahim Kuchi, Minister of State for Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Niger State; Prof. (Mrs) Viola Onwuliri, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Imo State, Prof (Mrs) Ruqayyatu Rufai, Minister of Education, Jigawa State; Erelu Olusola Obada; Minister of State, Defence, Osun State, Chief Olajumoke Akinjide; Minister of State for FCT, Oyo State. Others are: Mrs Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Minister for Finance, Abia State; Mrs. Hadiza Ibrahim Mailafa; Minister of Environment, Mrs Omobola Johnson Olubusola; Minister, Communication Technology, Mrs Sarah Reng Ochekpe, Minister, Water Resources and Ms. Ama Pepple; Minister, Lands and Housing. Women’s political profile in Nigeria began to rise from 1960 when Mrs. Wuraola Esan from Western Nigeria became the first female member of the Federal Parliament to 1961 when Chief (Mrs) Margaret Ekpo won elections in Aba Urban North constituency under the National Council of Nigerian Citizens (NCNC) platform to become a member of the Eastern Nigeria House of Assembly and in 1966 as Mrs. Janet N. Mokelu and Miss Ekpo A. Young also contested elections, won and became members of the Eastern House of Assembly. http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/features/27376-jonathan-and-his-many-women |

Outstrip:Nigeria has no federal prisons because it is a republic. That being said, I agree with Kwankwaso here because if Jonathan and his task force are serious, they should have charged them with the crime and sent them to court, rather they want them to rot in prison. How are we sure the people arrested are real Boko Haram members because they may be innocent mallams caught in the middle. |
Lagos loses another 10 metres of land to ocean surge on AUGUST 29, 2011 · in NEWS By Olasunkanmi Akon & Monsur Olowoopejoi LAGOS —THE Lagos State Government has said it had lost over 10 metres of land to the ocean surge. This came as residents of Maiyegun community and Alpha Beach in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of state have called on Federal Government to urgently release ecological fund to the state to address the problem. State Commissioner for Water Front and Infrastructure, Mr. Adesegun Oniru, who spoke after inspecting the damage by the ocean surge, weekend, stressed the need for the Federal Government to find lasting solution to the problem, in order to protect the surrounding communities. According to Oniru, who was accompanied by the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Tunji Bello during the environment sanitation exercise, “if the Federal Government fails to respond to the problem, more metres would be lost in the next few days. That means we are giving nature the opportunity to redefine the boundary of the nation, because for now, a very significant portion of the land at the beach had been overtaken by the Atlantic Ocean, eating up pathways and damaging buildings and stalls.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/08/lagos-loses-another-10-metres-of-land-to-ocean-surge/ |

This guy may have been murdered by armed robbers who found out that he had nothing for them to rob. |
Are we waiting for this ocean to swallow the whole Lagos Island before FG can respond?. I pity people who invest heavily there. 10 meters of land lost is big and at this rate, there will be no more Ikoyi in 50 years time. |

Bamgbose, VIO boss, assassinated in Abeokuta By MOSHOOD ADEBAYO, Abeokuta Monday, August 29, 2011 A superintendent of Ministry of Works in Ogun State, Chief Yomi Bamgbose, was gruesomely murdered on Sunday. Bamgbose, 53, who was also the Lupona of Egbaland, was shot dead in front of his house in Olorombo, Ijeun Titun in Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Abeokuta, the state capital. Sources close to the family of the South-west coordinator of the VIO told Daily Sun that he was shot on his way to an engagement around 10.00p.m. and he died on the spot. An eyewitness, who spoke with Daily Sun on condition of anonymity said gunmen numbering about four shot sporadically into the air to scare people away before committing the heinous crime. His words: “It was after they have succeeded in creating pandemonium in the area that they dragged him out of his car and shot him and he died immediately.’’ It was further gathered that the gang had arrived the area in an unmarked white vehicle and lurked around before their target emerged from his duplex apartment in the area. As soon as Bamgbose emerged, the assailants, who had used the dark environment as a cover up, accosted him. When he noticed that the hoodlums were after his life, he was said to have shouted for help after he was pulled down from his car, but help came from nowhere. The killers were said to have shot him at the upper chest region after which he slumped and died immediately. His killers were said to have waited and ensured that he died before they escaped from the scene. Although the hoodlums went away with his car, family’s sources said the incident was purely assassination and not armed robbery. The remains of the late VIO boss was later deposited at the state general hospital, Ijaiye. The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the incident, said the command had commenced full investigations into the killing. Secretary to the State Government, Taiwo Adeoluwa, while reacting to the killing described it as very unfortunate. Describing Bamgbose as a hardworking civil servant, who served the state diligently, he urged the state police commissioner to unravel those behind the killing as well as their motive. He assured residents of the state that it had put in place measures to ensure security of lives and property. http://dailytrust.dailytrust.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=26514:vio-co-ordinator-killed-in-ogun&catid=1:news&Itemid=2 |
Cameroon ship attacked off Nigeria, captain taken (AFP) – 2 days ago YAOUNDE — Seven heavily armed assailants boarded a Cameroonian ship with 150 people on board off the coast of Nigeria Saturday and took its captain hostage, a shipping company and a witness told AFP. The others on board were released unharmed, they said. "The Cameroonian ship Monica was attacked around 8:00 am (0700 GMT). The captain on board was abducted," a man who was on the ship during the attack said from Yaounde, adding that no one was injured. A spokesman for the Corner Water Shipping Company Ltd, which manages the ship, confirmed the incident. "The captain was kidnapped. Our office in Calabar is negotiating to have him freed. The passengers are unharmed," he said. In Nigeria, navy spokesman Kabir Aliyu said the incident took place as the passenger boat was on its way from Cameroon to Oron in Nigeria. "The captain was kidnapped while all passengers and crew (were) released," he said. "The boat left back to Cameroon this morning after being escorted by (Nigerian navy personnel)." He could not provide further details, including on the captain. The passenger who witnessed the incident said the ship had left Limbe in southwest Cameroon on Friday night headed for Nigeria. He said that three hours into the journey, "seven heavily armed assailants" boarded the ship and demanded a "monthly security tax" from the captain. The witness said the captain told the attackers he had already paid their commander but they seized him to verify his story. The witness said the attackers had also asked those on board to "voluntarily" give them money and most passengers complied. "There are 150 people on board and a lot of merchandise," the witness added. Cameroonian authorities have attributed attacks and kidnappings off the Bakassi peninsula over the last three years to pirates. The area is believed to be rich in oil and gas. Several groups involved in these attacks have asked oil and shipping companies for the monthly payment of protection money. Copyright © 2011 AFP. When Kehinde hung himself *And the shocking revelations from his suicide note Written by Oluwatoyin Malik Sunday, August 28, 2011 When the news of suicide committed by an undergraduate,Kehinde Akintunde, broke on Sunday last week, many people who heard it found it shocking, not because suicide was a strange occurrence but the circumstances which surrounded Kehinde's act, as well as the note he left behind, were incomprehensible, especially to his family members who never believed such could happen in their family, not to talk of their smiling, easy-going, brilliant child taking such a non-reversible step. It was suicide extraordinaire. Kehinde, a 400 level student of Civil Engineering at the Federal University of Technology, Akure was in Lagos State where he was undergoing industrial training, which was part of his course requirements. With a twin brother who was also doing his youth service, Kehinde found it convenient staying in their sister's house in Lagos. He had left the house in the morning of Friday, August 19, 2011 as usual, bidding farewell as he stepped out, giving everyone the impression that he was going to the place where he was doing his industrial training. Not too long afterwards, he received a call from his twin brother who wanted to know where he was. "I am about boarding a bus to Yaba", Kehinde was reported to have replied. Unknown however to any soul, except himself, Kehinde had other plans that would forever put a demarcation between him and his loved ones forever. He boarded a vehicle to Ibadan and went to Apata area where he walked into an hotel around 12noon and checked in. He was with a back pack and held a bottle of water. He made enquiries about the cost of the rooms and paid for one. As he spoke with the receptionist who booked him in, he was full of smiles and did not betray any emotion or reveal what his intention would soon be. After he had been handed the key to Room 13, he climbed the stairs and made for the room. [img]http://odili.net/news/source/2011/aug/28/tribune/images/akehinde[1].jpg[/img] Kehinde's body dangling from the ceiling with his trousers wet with urine. Inset is the close shot of the hook to which he tied the rope. Around 11.30a.m. on Saturday, August 20, the receptionist who was on duty noticed that the key to Room 13 was not among other keys and when the receptionist on duty the previous day resumed duty later in the afternoon, she pointed her attention to this. The duo quickly reported to the hotel manager who told them to hold on as it was possible that the guest forgot to drop the key or still had the intention of spending one more night. http://www.tribune.com.ng/sun/features/4902-when-kehinde-hung-himself-and-the-shocking-revelations-from-his-suicide-note |
Ohanaeze seeks creation of Orimili State From Uzoma Nzeagwu, Awka THERE seems to be no end yet to the controversy trailing the clamour for new states in the country as the Ohanaeze Ndigbo at the weekend called for the creation of Orimili State out of the present Anambra State. http://odili.net/news/source/2011/aug/29/7.html However, former Information Minister, Prof. Sam Oyovbaire, at the weekend in Asaba said there was no sense in the recent calls for the creation of new states. Addressing journalists in Awka, the chairman, Ohanaeze Anambra State Committee on State Creation and the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, stressed that the demand for Orimili State is Anambra people's plea to Nigeria for equity, justice and fair-play. Achebe, in the company of Ohanaeze chieftains in Anambra, including the former Chief Judge of Anambra State, Justice Godwin Ononiba (rtd), Secretary, Anambra Elders Advisory Council (ASEC), Prince Chukwuemeka Onyesoh, Dr. Amanze Chinwuba, among others, noted that "the fundamental case for the creation of Orimili State is based on the need to achieve zonal equity in the political structure in the Federal Republic of Nigeria". He observed that the North-West, North-East, North-Central, South-South and South-West zones have six states each while only the South-East has five states. He argued that the discriminatory and inequitable implications of this structural imbalance has adversely affected the South-East in its entitlements to federal, ministerial and other appointments. |
S’South asks FG to find Boko Haram’s sponsors By Simon Utebor, Port Harcourt Monday, 29 Aug 2011 The leaders of the South-South, under the aegis of South-South Peoples Assembly, have called on the Federal Government to fish out the sponsors of Boko Haram fundamentalists for prosecution. A statement in Port Harcourt on Sunday by the SSPA and signed by Ambassador Mathew Mbu, Justice Karibi Whyte (retd.) and Dr. Kalada Iruenabere, described Friday’s bombing of United Nations office in Abuja as an orchestrated plot by a tiny minority to make the country ungovernable. The leaders warned the sponsors of the group not to push the country too far, saying the body would continue to stand by President Goodluck Jonathan as he confronts the unprovoked challenge posed by the terrorist sect. They further viewed Boko Haram as a political tool in the hands of a small group of “power merchants and economic parasites” seeking to achieve their earlier threat made during the struggle for nation’s presidency. The group said, “The SSPA does not believe that the Boko Haram, of today, is the offshoot of the one crushed by the Yar’Adua administration. Rather, we are convinced that the name has become a metaphor for a more sophisticated struggle for political power. “We dare say that it is a tool in the hands of those who threatened to make this country ungovernable and those who lectured us on the inevitability of violent change in the heat of the struggle for the Jonathan presidency. “Boko Haram cannot be pursuing a religious agenda, for, it should be obvious to its ideologies that exploding bombs in Abuja will do very little to advance the cause of its fanatical Islamic ideology. On the contrary, we are convinced that the group’s agenda, which clearly is that of its urbane sponsors, is to make the Presidency of Goodluck Jonathan unworkable.” http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art201108291554334 |
