No fewer than 115 illegal immigrants have been deported from Kano amid increased security after an attack on UN building, Abuja, an official said Monday.


Authorities, however, declined to comment on whether the deportations were linked to the August 26 bomb attack or other violence blamed on Boko Haram.


“We have so far repatriated 115 illegal aliens from five West African countries that have been staying without valid papers despite repeated calls for them to document their stay with the immigration service,” Umar Nasir, spokesman for the Nigeria Immigration Service in Kano, told AFP.


The expelled immigrants were from Niger, Chad, Togo, Cameroon and Benin, Nasir said.


“The repatriation exercise, which will be a continuous process, followed the expiration of the three-month window period granted all illegal aliens from the sub-region to legalise their stay by registering with the immigration service,” Nasir said.

What's with all these kidnappings naw, what's all this? Another person has been kidnapped in Lagos. His name Rodney Ogagba From Edo State. He was kidnapped on Saturday Morning September 3 at Alausa, Ikeja, just infront of Marwa Garden gate.
Mr Ogagba just returned From the US and was planning to open his new club right behind Sheraton, Ikeja. No contact from the kidnappers yet.

The question on my mind now is; how do these kidnappers know who to kidnap? They can't just pick people up randomly, so they must have done some kind of background check on their potential victims, and how do they get all the information they need? Less than a month after some unidentified gunmen visited his home in Ojodu and killed one of his aides (if you missed it, read it here), music star, John Asiemo, popularly known as Daddy Showkey, was again attacked on Thursday Sept 1, 2011, just three days after he came back from Delta, where he had escaped to after the first attack.

He tells Chidimma Obionwo of Encomium magazine,
These people are not armed robbers. Their aim is to take my life. They came to my house on that Thursday at around 1:30am and stayed till 3pm but couldn't enter my house because of the guard dogs barking continuously. They shot sporadically into the air for an hour and a half before they left. The matter has been reported at Ojodu Police HQ and the DPO has been sending his men to monitor my area since the incident. My next plan is to relocate my family. But for me, I will not abandon my house because of them.

This should have been ensured before moving the Federal Capital from Lagos to Abuja. Once upon a time Lagos was not only the Federal Capital but also the Country’s business hub. . . and it is still the business hub; so the plan at the onset should have been to not only move the FCT to Abuja, but to also create other business centers across the country; in PH, Edo, Enugu, Onitsha, Warri etc. The Governor is doing the best he can do – the Federal Government must take it from here.

THE cancer-stricken mother of Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha has been left 'humiliated and devastated' following a callous e-mail she believes was sent by the club's chief executive, Garry Cook.
Dr Anthonia Onuoha, who acts as Nedum's agent, last night sent official letters of complaint to the FA and Premier League about the e-mail she received during her year-long fight against cancer.

Cook has denied sending the message, explaining his e-mail system was broken into and a full internal inquiry has been launched at City to find the culprit.

The offensive e-mail emerged after Dr Anthonia wrote to City's football administrator, Brian Marwood, about a contract dispute her son was having with the club.

In October last year she e-mailed Marwood explaining that, while her body might be "ravaged with cancer and ongoing chemotherapy" she still had her wits about her to argue Nedum's case.

Two weeks later Dr Anthonia received an e-mail — which appeared to be from Cook and was meant for Marwood — but was instead sent to her.

The e-mail was addressed 'Brian' then said: "Ravaged with it!!, I don't now how you sleep at night. You used to be such a nice man when I worked with you at nike (sic)."

A devastated Dr Anthonia replied to Cook the following day saying: "Thanks very much for your insightful e-mail."

Cook responded, saying he hadn't sent the offending e-mail and that his e-mail account had been hacked while he was on holiday in South Africa for 10 days.

He insisted that, following an internal investigation, he had learned a member of his staff had sent the e-mail to Marwood as a joke.

He told Dr Anthonia: "I cannot and will not condone this unacceptable behaviour. I can confirm Brian did not receive this e-mail and disciplinary action is currently underway regarding one of our employees."

Cook also apologised for "any hurt or embarrassment this may have caused".

Dr Anthonia said: "When I opened up my e-mails and saw the message, it was the worst day of my life, even worse than being diagnosed with cancer.

"I couldn't understand how anybody could behave like that. I just cried and cried for hours.

"I'm critically ill and at that point I was undergoing chemotherapy. I was just so shocked but I couldn't tell Nedum or any of my family because I didn't know how they would react.

"It's incredible that any human being would write this. It's unforgivable and I still cannot believe it.

"When Cook replied to me, he said that he was confused, that he'd been away on holiday in South Africa and that somebody had hacked into his e-mail account and that whoever sent the e-mail to Brian Marwood meant it as a practical joke.

"It was all very stressful at the time, in fact it still is.

"The illness I have is very stressful, I'm having chemotherapy and radiotherapy, including having radiotherapy on my brain and this year has been traumatic. I didn't want anybody adding to my stress but that is what they've done.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has ruled out the possibility of former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, returning to
the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), just as the hierarchy of the party
in the Southwest lampooned him for what it described as anti-party activities, which caused PDP a dismal performance in the state.
Speaking during PDP’s Southwest Zonal Strategic Meeting held
in Abeokuta, the state capital, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of PDP lamented what he described as indiscipline and disunity among
party members.

He said this just as the National Vice Chairman of the party in the zone; Alhaji Tajudeen Oladipo, lamented how ‘Daniel worked so hard against the interest of the party’.
Obasanjo, who said the meeting was organized for the party to re-strategize for future challenges and elections, also canvassed unity and cohesion among members for a common goal.
According to him, the turbulent political storm that swept the party from the South-West did not make the party fall, recalling that the party had similar experience in the past.

“We stumbled, but did not fall, this is a bitter lesson for us to go back to the drawing board and make fast adjustments.’’
Going proverbial, Obasanjo said: “When a child falls, he looks forward, but if an elder falls, he looks back to see what led to his fall. I want the PDP members to do likewise,” he said.

While challenging members to work as a team for the common goal, Obasanjo urged the party “to accommodate genuine run-aways from the party, who want to come back”, but cautioned that those who deliberately destroyed the party in the past and did not show remorse should be avoided like a plague.
His words: “As much as I agree with the suggestions that we must allow those who had strayed to return to the party, I want to caution that we must not totally forget the past because evildoers will never rescind from their bad deeds.”

Making veiled reference to Daniel, Obasanjo said: “Those who misbehaved last year, if you say we should forgive them totally, they will do worse things next year. But those who have shown remorse should be allowed back into the party. But there are some that what they did was so bad that by the grace of God, I will never be in the same party with them for the rest of my life.’’
He identified absolute indiscipline and gross violation of the party’s constitution as the bane of the party’s downfall, adding that this was not the time to lament about the past, but to look forward for better party cohesion.

“There is nothing new under the sun, in the past, we stumbled and regained our stand, today, we are going to regain our lost glory especially in the South West.”
Obasanjo, who also used the opportunity to speak on the Speakership of the House of Representatives, insisted that the constitution of the party zoned it to the South-West.
“The speakership of the House of Representatives, which the constitution of the party zoned to the South - West, is our legitimate right that must be given back to us.’’
He adds: “The National Secretaryship of the party being zoned to
the South-West is not an issue because naturally it belongs to the zone.
According to him, the injustice done to the South-West over speakership must be corrected as that is the basic thing.

IMO, SEPTEMBER 04, (THEWILL) – Lady Eudora Nnenna Iwuanyanwu, wife of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, renowned Nigerian politician, businessman and elder statesman, is dead. The 63-year-old mother of five, who had been on life support of late, reportedly died in London after a sudden cardiac arrest in her home. Family sources have confirmed her interment for Friday October 7.
Confirming her death, one of her three daughters, Ezinne, termed Eudora’s passing on as “the greatest pain and heaviest burden” she has experienced in life.”
“She was a very selfless person. Everything she had, she shared with us. She loved the simple things of life and valued her belief in God. She participated in various charities and was involved in church work. Sitting around her children made her happy.” Continuing, she described her mother as an entertainer “at home,” who ascribed huge “importance” to her family. “No matter how upset you are, she will make you happy. She was the one we ran to when we had problems.”
Leading the crop of influential Imo State women who have been condoling with the Iwuanyanwu family, former Commissioner for Women Affairs, Julie Onyeukwu, said Eudora was “a peaceful woman and a very big supporter of her husband. “She had positive impacts on those who came around her. As a woman leader, she had a power profile yet remained humble and down-to-earth. Shje lived by truth at all times and lived a transparent life worth of emulation. She was a good friend and will be greatly missed.”

The late Eudora Iwuanyanwu was a critical success factor for her husband, who grew ‘Hardel and Enic’ to a conglomerate of more than 20 companies, founded the famous Iwunanyawu Nationale Football Club (now Heartland FC), publishes Daily Champion Newspaper and has had a fairly successful political career.

Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Adeyemi Ikuforiji has said the allegation of perjury and embezzlement of over N7 billion state funds against him is political.
He said this while speaking with journalists at his GRA lodge in Ikeja shortly after his arrival from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) office in Abuja.

Ikuforiji maintained that he was never arrested and detained by the anti-graft agency, stating that he only honoured an invitation sent to him by the commission while he was on his way to perform the lesser hajj in Saudi Arabia.

His words: “I was invited by the EFCC but the invitation came late. I got it on my way to the airport for lesser hajj (Umrah) last week and I sent a note addressed to the executive chairman of the commission explaining that I received the letter late and because it is Ramadan period, I will honour the invitation on Thursday September 4.

“When I came back last Thursday, I called them that morning and the officer I spoke with told me that I should come that afternoon and we went. On getting to Abuja, there was heavy traffic on the road because of this Boko Haram sort of thing. “The soldiers mounted roadblocks and there was a heavy traffic. So I had to call them again that I am in the traffic and the officer I spoke with said since it is getting late, it is better I just come in on Friday morning. So I went there to honour the invitation of the EFCC. I was not at anytime arrested by the commission,” he said.

While clearing air on the allegation of the N7 billion, he said “the House had a budget of about N6 billion. How somebody, no matter how highly placed, the Speaker of the House is just one among the 40; how he is able to steal N7 billion out of N6 billion is a question for the petitioners and the authority to answer. “As for me, I know there was no N7 billion at anytime in the House, not over a period of one year though. We never had such a thing, so there was no way I could have stolen N7 billion. I don’t even steal at all. You don’t need to suspect this one; this is a very clear case,” he said.

What can a woman do when the Law and Culture are not on her side and she has no backbone of her own - no education, job, trade etc with which to challenge such evil ideas.  You see, risking someone else's life is better than risking your own, abi?  That's why women are pressed to undergo several childbirths, in their husbands quest for more children, they can not afford to feed, how foolish!
