Foreign AffairsWhen Will Sierra Leone Pay Nigeria What They Owe For Ecomog? by aloyemeka2(op): 3:11am On Sep 05, 2011
Antime I remember that we saved those buggers with about $12BN, I scream bloody hell because we can really use that money now. Up till now, Sierra Leone has not paid a kobo in what they owe Nigeria. NATO will deduct all the money they spent in saving Libya from Gadaffi from their foreign reserves but Sierra Leone has not paid us anything yet. Can we at least make them pay back a fraction of it or are we just gonna forget that money like that.

Sierra Leonians always enjoy freeloading on Nigeria and Nigerians.  They like enjoymemnt but are too lazy to work in order to foot the bill.  Read the link below and you will agree with me. Please if you know any Sierra Leonian, help me ask him/her when they intend to pay my money back. It is tax payers money and they should pay up. I am sick and tired of Nigeria playing the big boss for these mooching neighbors when we are yet to take care of our business. Pay Up Sierra Leone or I will make my case at the UN and possibly sue them at the Hague. It's time to  Pay up for saving your lazy behinds, bros. I need my money badly.

EducationDid This Policy Make Kano Better Than Other States In Nigeria by aloyemeka2(op): 2:25am On Sep 05, 2011
THis policy was made in Kano about 4 years ago and since then, we should have been seeing the positive effects in Kano schools. Are Kano pupils any better than other pupils from other parts of the country because of their Islamic dress code?.

Shekarau insists on veils for non-Islamic schools
By Agency Reporter

The Kano State Governor, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, on Thursday ordered non-Islamic schools to introduce veils for their female students.

“All private schools in the state are hereby directed to ensure that their pupils observe the dress code in accordance with the tradition and beliefs of our people,” Agence France Presse quoted Shekarau as telling a large crowd of veiled schoolgirls late Thursday in the state capital.

The Kano State Governor, Malam

“This is in line with our resolve to bring about a positive change in the attitude of our students and to strengthen their morality. We do not expect any private school in this state to fail in this regard,” he added, without giving details about penalties.

State schools in Kano have been obliged to follow a Muslim dress code since 2003 when Shekarau was elected on the strength of his promise to implement a stricter version of the Sharia legal system. Under the dress code, school girls wear kaftan and trousers or long skirts with a veil and boys wear kaftan and trousers with a cap.

GenBuhari:
OBJ is worst than Abacha in every area.

Abacha never devalued the Naira                          Obj devalued Naira 500%

Abacha maintained our National Airline                 OBJ mismanaged it and closed it down (shame on him)

Abacha reduced inflation from 54% to 8.5%          Obj increased inflation

Abacha set his own policy                                       Obj did whatever USA and UK wanted

Obasanjo is known as the biggest looter Africa has ever seen- I estimate he has stolen at least $100billion (N7 trillion)

OBj achieved no tangible development despite ruling during periods of record high oil prices.

In short OBJ should be in prison.
Yessssssss

OBJ embarked on ethnic cleansing of the Yorubas using Al Mustapha & sgt Rogers-----Abacha didn't do such evil.

OBJ tried to succeed himself to the point he was carried out of Aso Rock on a stretcher----------------------------Abacha never did such thing

OBJ murdered Olu Onagoruwa's son, shot Alex Ibru, Kudirat Abiola-----Abacha protected Nigerians from death

OBJ imported proostitutes from around the world at the cost of $1M/day at tax payers expense---Abacha only prayed at the mosque.

OBJ imported over 1000 marabouts from around the world at tax payers expense----Abacha only belived that Allah will protect him.

What shall we do to this evil man called OBJ? undecided undecided undecided undecided

Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, etc all had their revolution in the last one year and all were organized through facebook. Yemen, Iran, Qatar etc will soon follow.

From my online experience, Nairaland seems to be the only Nigerian website where people are very passionate about politics over any other thing. Nigerians embrace facebook in huge numbers but their presence there is strictly social and city gossips but Nairaland is very potent when it comes to active politics in Nigeria and it is growing stronger by the day. My fear is that ethnocentrism is still blocking their progress but with time and that time is very near, I forsee an organized revolution in Nigeria that will surely start from Nairaland. The revolution will lead to a brand new nation where career politicians will be swept away like flakes and I am seriously waiting for that day.
PoliticsRe: Obasanjo’s Eight Years Worse Than Abacha’s – Ribadu by aloyemeka2: 1:03am On Sep 05, 2011
Why this unprecedented attack on Obasanjo by unscrupulous elements from the North?. Is it because he wants Tambuwal out in favor of a South-Western speaker?. I thought  the North loved him so much and that is why they imposed him on the Yorubas/Southerners as  their choice presidential candidate so that the North will continue to be the defactor leader of the nation even though OBJ is at the helm of affairs?. What happened to that love affair or am I missing something?.

Ribadu is foolish because he served under Obasanjo and that means that if Obasanjo's leadership was bad, then he is part of that massive failure.

Goes to show that any love affair that is not genuine will never last long.

Senator Yusuf Tuggar
By Robert Amsterdam

The presidential elections held this past April in Nigeria were seen as sufficiently “free and fair” by many observers, but at the local level for the gubernatorial elections, reports of fraud, violence, ballot stuffing, and intimidation were rife. In several key states, candidates for the opposition party Congress for Progressive Change were subjected to bureaucratic harassment and attacks from the media, while in some cases the ruling People’s Democratic Party enjoyed the support of the military to deliver the vote. Now the victims of the vote fraud are beginning to speak out.

Over the course of my law firm’s 30-year history in Nigeria, we’ve had the opportunity to meet some of the country’s most impressive entrepreneurs, young leaders, and impressive public servants, but this latest story stands out as a sad example of how the political system sometimes works. The experience of Yusuf Tuggar, a popular former member of the Nigerian House of Representatives (2007-2011) who ran for governor in Bauchi State as the CPC candidate, featured nearly every trick in the book, from fraud to violence to curfews to basic cheating. The overwhelming popularity of his campaign in Bauchi – an important northern state with a population the size of Norway – led his opponents to undertake desperate measures to manufacture a stolen victory.

This week we caught up with Mallam Tuggar by telephone to learn about his background and find out what happened this past Spring in Bauchi State.

How did you first get involved in politics?

Well, I come from what you could call a ‘political family.’ My father was a national politician, serving as the Organizing Secretary of the ruling Northern Peoples’ Congress in the period before and after independence in 1960, and later went on to become a Senator in the Republic. Growing up in this family home, I was fascinated by public policy, and later went on to earn my degree in International Relations at university in the United States. Even during my career in the public sector working as an oil and gas consultant, I regular published columns in newspapers and magazines, where I proffered my own opinions and possible solutions to Nigeria’s political and economic problems. But following the death of my father, I finally made the decision to get involved in politics, having realized that would be the best way to give back to society and strenghten the linkage between myself and the people of Bauchi and Nigeria as a whole.

During your tenure in the House of Representatives, what were some of your goals and accomplishments?

To begin with, I was the Chairman of House Committee on Public Procurement, which oversaw government spending on a variety of projects, be it construction, oil and gas, education, health, water resources, and beyond. Our goal was to ensure, as much as possible, compliance with the Public Procurement Act that had been recently been passed in 2007 by the incoming president Umaru Yar’Adua, aimed at increasing due process, openness and transparency. We created a tracking and monitoring system of government contracts open to the public on the internet, connecting with civil society groups to monitor and discourage instances of corruption – and I saw this as an important new link between civil society and the legislature. We also actively pursued the creation of the National Council on Public Procurement, which we felt would separate the day-to-day affairs of awarding contracts from the meddling of the president’s cabinet, allowing transparency to prevail.

I was also a member of several committees, and worked on the passage of Local Content Bill, which was geared towards ensuring that Nigerian companies became more active in the oil and gas sector. I served as a member on the Foreign Affairs Committee, the Committee on Agriculture. Before all of that I was also Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Public Petitions. In this department, we successfully carried out several petitions that helped common Nigerians seek redress where it was not possible from other the other arms of the government – in the past, this had been a big problem, in that a petition filed with the National Assembly would often not go any where, but we provided real and lasting solutions for many citizens.

On my own, I was also the sponsor of quite a number of legislative items, including a bill looking into the inhumane transport of livestock, much needed amendments of past bills, such as the procurement act, as well as motions that drew attention to youth issues.

- Adeyemi Ikoforiji concealed his status as an ex-convict in the form he filed with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, during the last election where he won a seat to represent Ikeja constituency 2. He also served two terms as a representative of Epe in Lagos State.

- On April 22, 2001, Adeyemi Ikuforiji was first convicted after he was arrested for drunk driving in Wake County, North Carolina, USA. His record, based on his case number 2001CR040190 shows that his residence then was 2116 Saturn Street, Raleigh, NC 27603.

- He was also arrested over credit card scam totaling $22,731.00 in 2003 while he lived at 9112 Yates Bay, Minneapolis MN55443.

- On October 29, 2010 security escorts attached to Ikuforiji assaulted, injured and dispossessed Nollywood Actress Ufuoma Ejenobor of her Black Berry and other valuavble items for allegedly forcing her way into the Speaker's convoy.

Suicide rate is high in Nigeria these days. Black people are known to be good custodian of their own lives which makes us less likely to commit suicide. Why do  you think we have the suicide epidemic in Nigeria today?. Is the government part of the problem?

Boko Haram suicide bombers, man jumps into well and threatens to die unless the president gives him 100k, Lagos  ministerial nominee commits suicide, students, traders, almajiris, imams, prostitutes, pastors, etc are committing suicide in Nigeria like there is no tomorrow. What is going on?. Is our social/political  problem becoming mental?.
