The reason some girls stay single

This guy is a "class" act!
READ BELOW BEFORE LISTENING

The story is this: a girl was out with friends having drinks on King St (in Toronto ). This guy approaches her and won't leave her alone -saying how cute she is. She finally gives in and hands the guy her business card to get rid of him.
The attached is an MP3 file of not one, but TWO voicemails this guy left. This goes down in the history books - especially the second voice mail.
After hearing them you can clearly see why she didn't call him back - instead she called in to the Z103.5 morning show & had them play this on the air.

From what I know of them, they went to predominantly white schools, and so would be extremely comfortable around white people. I cannot see them marrying some Nigerian guy with the typical nigerian alpha male attitude. I love my Naija guys----Actress,STEPHNORA JACOB

Posted To The Web: Thursday, December 24, 2009 - Posted at OnlineNigeria.com

STEPHNORA JACOB

Top Actress,Stephnora Jacob is beautiful and delectable. She is one of the popular actresses in the South South.Steph made her first mark in the Movie Industry in 2006,with her own production titled Keeping Cool.

Since then, this Abia-born entertainer has played visible roles in numerous movies. In 2007,she broadened her scope in the entertainment business when she delved into Radio and TV production Steph was one of the hot presenters on Rivers State Television.

Years ago,her romance with Port Harcourt based singer,Mega SP hit the rocks, and she accused Mega of cheating on her with a female singer,Soty. She later dated a rich oil mogul from Denmark, but still the same story.Stephnora seems to walk out on her men each time they cheat.

Steph has since put all that behind her.She is now engaged to a white American (lets pray he dosent cheat!).The talented star actress stepped out recently at the movie premiere of Motherland that held at Atlantic Hall,Hotel Presidential,Port Harcourt, where she was a co-compere.BUNMI DUROJAIYE had a chat with her for www.nigeriafilms.com and she spoke about her life and career.

You have been off the scene for a while now, what have you been up to?

I have been busy working on different sets of movies, like Warrior's Anger,Warriors And The Cross,Naked Girls and Kingpin.

Which of these productions is the most recent?

They are all brand new, should hit the markets any moment soon. But the last one I w orked on was Warrior's Anger,I love the story.

I can see a ring on your finger, are you engaged?

Sure thing.

Who is the lucky guy?

Aaron Lampinen

A Nigerian?

No,American.

What does he do for a living?

He's an Engineer, with Amada America in Los Angeles.

Do you have anything against Nigerian guys?

Absolutely not.I love my Naija guys.

Why Aaron Lampinen?

He's different,he's got it (Laughs)

Will you be shuttling Nigeria and Los Angeles?

Yes,definitely.

Let's talk about the movie Motherland,

It's a great movie starring talented and renowned actors. The concept is superb,it's an insight on power tussles, power and crisis in politics and between politicians.I commend the turn out of Nollywood stars at the premiere,it was all colourful and awesome.Motherland will be a success, and kudos to Hon Charles Nsiegbe(now late) and his Creeklegg Productions for a job well done.

People worry about your new relationship, that it might end up like others,is it based on love?

I can tell you with all sincerity that this is based on true love.It is a thing of the heart, our hearts connected and this is what matters.

There was this controversy about you and Soty fighting over Mega SP,how were you able to survive the controversy?

Those were baseless rumours. It didn't bother me.Soty was a guest on the first episode of The Stephnora Jacob Show along with Duncan Mighty,if we were rivals,it would have been impossible for me to have her on my show.

What happe ned to Positive Vibes With Stephnora on RSTV?

Someone else presents the show now.Its now just Positive Vibes.

Was it easy to walk away from that show?

No,it wasn't.I won Niger Delta Advancement Awards VJ of the year 2008 with Positive Vibes.Leaving the show was something I didn't want to do,but had to do.

Are we expecting any changes in your lifestyle by the time you eventually marry?

I've never been married before so I wouldn't know.

Thanks for your time Stephnora.

My pleasure.

Politics / Oba Rejects Car Gift From Government by AloyEmeka9: 3:42am On Dec 25, 2009
Monarch returns govt’s car gift in protest of demotion - Contender drags Oni to court over kingship tussle
Stephen Gbadamosi, Ado-Ekiti
Thursday, December 24, 2009
The traditional ruler of Ire-Ekiti, Oba Victor Adeleke Bobade, on Wednesday, on the instruction of his subjects, returned a Toyota Corolla car given to him by the state as a Grade B monarch in Ekiti State.

http://odili.net/news/source/2009/dec/24/605.html

According to a letter from the palace of the monarch, dated December 23, 2009 which was entitled “Re: Demand for Restoration to Grade A and Return of Official Car,” Oba Bobade said his people were nursing a sense of historical injustice over the decision of the Adeniyi Adebayo-led administration to demote him from a Grade A Oba to a Grade B.

The monarch claimed that he was among the first 18 leading traditional leaders in the state who were permanently put on Grade A hierarchy.

But the state government insisted that the people of Ire-Ekiti had no case as the downgrading was not done by the Segun Oni-led government and that it was actually a matter for the state council of Obas and not the state government.

Oba Bobade posited that he had to return the car to the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Chieftaincy Affairs after consulting with his chiefs and the entire people of the town.

Meanwhile, as the kingship tussle in Odo Ayedun-Ekiti in Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State lingers, one of the parties to theissue, Prince Adekunle Adeniyi, has approached an Ikole-Ekiti high court, seeking a perpetual injunction to stop his alleged invalidation by the state government.

He said the warrant chiefs in the town had performed the selection process which he claimed produced him as the Oba-elect.

Adeniyi of the Serungunle ruling house asked the court to give an order compelling Governor Oni to approve his nomination, claiming that it was valid and followed due process, as well as customs and tradition of the town “as contained in the 1994 declaration.”

But the Special Adviser to Governor Oni on Chieftaincy Affairs, Princess Jolaade Onipede, said though she had not been served with any court notice, nobody had been selected, appointed or chosen by either the warrant chiefs or the community for the throne.

She said the self-acclaimed Oba-elect was never selected, elected or appointed by anyone, adding that the community had a controversial and inconclusive selection, “so, how come somebody is now claiming to be elected to the vacant stool?”

Yuletide: Exodus as Lagosians move homeward
By Jude Njoku & Bose Adebayo
Thursday, December 24, 2009
WITH just a day to Christmas, unarguably, the most popular and widely celebrated Christian feast, the various bus terminals and markets in the city are now a beehive of activities as those intending to travel besiege the terminals to board vehicles to the hinterlands while those who intend to stay back, engage in last minute shopping to purchase what they need for the yuletide.

Luxury buses at Alafia, Orile in Lagos

http://odili.net/news/source/2009/dec/24/300.html

Indeed, the great excitement in the air coupled with the spending spree, downplay the crushing economic meltdown in the country.

Vanguard Metro visited some luxury bus terminals and the scene was that of joyous travellers who want to join their kith and kin in the villages to celebrate the Christmas and New Year. Mrs. Lois Idimo who travelled with her children ahead of her husband told Vanguard Metro that they paid N5,050 per seat because they were anxious to be in the village for the Christmas. Mrs. Idimo who hails from Imo State, said that besides the joy of re-uniting with loved ones whom she had not seen for some years now, there are some important family matters to discuss.

A lot of measures were put in place at the major bus terminals to give them a new look befitting the mood of the season. Vanguard Metro observed that parks at Ketu/Ojota, Jibowu/Yaba, Oshodi, Ikotun, Obalende, Mile Two, Masa Masa, Ojodu Berger wore new looks.

Transporters like GUO, C N Okolie, E. Ekezon, ABC, New Tarzan, Young Shall Grow, Ekene Dili Chukwu, Ekwos, God is Good, Sun Quick, Ocheson, Trackers, Imo Transport Company (ITC) and the Anambra Integrated Development Strategies (ANIDS) among others tried to outdo one another by offering improved services to commuters. Unlike what obtained in previous years, transport fares this time around were not uniform.

While Chisco and C N Okolie charged N5,050 per trip to the eastern part of the country on Tuesday, GUO charged its passengers N4,500. The small buses charged higher fares depending on whether the vehicle is air-conditioned or not. A trip to Benin from Mile Two cost N2,550 on Tuesday.

But despite the hike, most Lagosians who were determined to spend the holidays in their home towns, remained unperturbed. The luxury drivers justified the hike. According to them, they always come back to Lagos with their buses empty. “What we are doing is turn back,” one of them who did not disclose his name said.

The fares are expected to rise further today when most Lagosians, particularly civil servants would travel. Most companies have already closed for the year, thus giving their workers the leverage to travel for the festivities. Even the popular Auto Spare Parts Market (ASPMDA) located at the Lagos International Trade complex would be closed to customers from today. The market will only reopen in the first week of January.

Defied Meltdown

While many have defied the spate of economic meltdown, fuel scarcity and bad the Benin -Ore Road to travel to the hinterlands, those who want to spend the Christmas in Lagos besieged the markets to make last minute purchases. A foodstuffs dealer at the Iddo market, Mr. Columbus Akujobi noted that although sales cannot be compared with what obtained in the market by this time last year, business has not been bad at all. Mr. Akujobi who sells grains explained that the price of rice and similar commodities only increased marginally because importers, in anticipation of the season, flooded the market with the commodity.

“Great Nigeria House” located in the heart of the Lagos Central Business District (CBD) was a no-go-area due to the human traffic into the high-rise complex where people sell different grades of shoes. The same scenario applies to the nearby Balogun, Idumota, Mandillas, Oke-Arin, Oluwole and Ereko. A young man who sells men’s wears near Mandillas, told Vanguard Metro that business was dull until the last one week when customers stormed the market to buy clothes for themselves and members of their family.

A trader who gave his name as Tony said he does not intend to travel for the yuletide. “I am a native of Enugu State but I don’t pray to travel on that bad Benin -Ore road for now ’Thank God for cell phones and e-banking which have made it easier for us to contact our relations.

My business suffered a recession in the last two weeks and I ought to have travelled home for relaxation but when I considered the state of the road, I decided to stay back. I am convinced that a lot of people will sleep on the road and celebrate the Christmas along the highway,” he said.

Okonjo-Iweala diverts gifts to HIV/AIDS victims, as daughter marries
From Gordi Udeajah, Umuahia

THE Managing Director of the World Bank, Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and her husband Dr. Ikemba Iweala, yesterday gave out their daughter Onyinye in marriage to Dr. Andrew Robert Spector of Michigan State, USA at a colourful traditional ceremony held in their Umuda Isingwu village in Umuahia North Council of Abia State.

http://odili.net/news/source/2009/dec/24/11.html

Though the ceremony was attended by the high and low with likelihood of corresponding gifts galore, Mrs. Iweala appealed to gift donors to channel them to the victims or people living with HIV and AIDS. She said her family would channel such gift presentations to Umuada Community School and two non-governmental organisations that cater for People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHVA) namely, Physicians For Social Justice and Amana Organisation coordinated by Dr. Chukwumuanya Igbokwe and Samaila Garba. Both NGOs are based in Niger State.

Many Nigerians and non-Nigerians from all walks of life gathered and witnessed the traditional marriage ceremony attended by the groom's parents, Judge Arthur Spector and Mrs. Kayla Spector and many of their relations, including the immediate past Ghanaian President, Dr. John Kufor, Nigeria's Vice President, Goodluck Jonathan, represented by Abia State governor, Dr. Theodore Orji, governors Bukola Saraki of Kwara State, Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers and Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta. Also in attendance was the World Bank Vice President for Africa, Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili.

Others who attended the event were Minister for Foreign Affairs, Chief Ojo Maduekwe, his Finance counterpart, Mansur Muktar, Chiefs Sonny Odogwu and Emeka Anyaoku, ThisDay publisher, Nduka Obaigbena, The Guardian Managing Director and Editor-In-Chief, Mr. Emeka Izeze, Dr. Farouk Lawan, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Mike Adenuga (Jnr) and Chief Onyema Ugochukwu.

The colourful ceremony, which was chaired by Anyaoku and his wife, Bunmi, had the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Ambassador Ralph Uwechue as father of the day.

Anyaoku described the intercontinental marriage as a joyous one that has significance in Igbo culture as well as that of where the marrying families hail from.

He said: "They have accomplished what should be a pride to their parents, having both graduated from Harvard University, USA."

Father of the groom, Judge Arthur Spector told The Guardian his family was happy with the marriage, hence they both entered into it voluntarily.

Okay, but could I have some evidence beyond your saying so? At least, I would have something to critique constructively so that my opinions would be well informed. Afterall, one other reason why I chose the examples deliberately (as I said earlier) would be to highlight the fact that not all claims are true - and some have been found cutting corners and contravening their own principles (e.g., University of Phoenix, UPX).
Is the university of Phoenix contravening their own principles?. What evidence do you have?

But what has the Oyedepo's example of university done for the benefit of her benefactors?

A benefactor mustn't benefit from the fruits of his charity. Oyedepo would have used the money to chill at the hotel Bellagio but he used it to build a university that will be a pacesetter for academic excellence in Nigeria.

Lagos Seals Oyakhilome’s Warehouse
December 22, 2009 13:26, 1,451 views
By Kazeem Ugbodaga

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), at the weekend, shut Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s Christ Embassy’s warehouse and eight industries across the state, for failing to comply with the environmental laws of the state.

The warehouse, located at Adebayo Akande Street, off Billingsway, Alausa and Mazino Hotel on 12, Aromire Street, Ikeja, were shut over dirty drains, improper management of spent oil and dumping of waste on unauthorised places.

LASEPA and task force officials stormed the warehouse and other properties on Friday, effected their closure and vowed not to reopen them until their management complied with the environmental laws of the state.

General Manager, LASEPA, Engr. Rasheed Shabi, said the agency had over time investigated the complaints by some people over the sanitation and pollution nuisances caused by these companies and residents.

He added that the companies shut refused to abate the sanitation and pollution nuisances, thus leaving their environment dirty or difficult to live in.

Head, Enforcement Team of the agency, Mr. Kayode Bello, said the companies were shut because they refused to abate the various offences levelled against them.

He said that the affected industries and residential areas have been advised to report to LASEPA office, adding that failure to do so would attract stiffer sanctions, according to the agency’s edict.

One of the companies, Purechem Industries at 2, Adeleke Sholanke Street, off Adeniyi Jones Avenue, Ikeja, was shut over noise pollution from its generating set, while Hotel Comfort situated at 21, Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, was closed over improper management of waste and spent oil, dirty and silted drains.

Deep Confidence International Trading at 1B, Adeola Ajayi Crescent, Mafoluku, was also shut for environmental pollution, while Pentagon Plastics, Ajao Estate, was closed for obstructing the agency’s officials from carrying out their duty.

Other properties sealed were Sunny Sound Studio at 43, Mosalasi Street, Somolu, for noise pollution and a soccer viewing centre at 27, Apata Street, Somolu.
