You are a big fool. When other nationals start calling you terrorist now, you'll be the first to start crying. Why bring up this issue when we are celebrating this feat  achieved by a brother?. There are other nationals that do the same and they don't list them among their criminals. Google   Grigori Perelman and see whether his fellow Russians stick up their criminals in the thread. Olong:
That is N300 Million per annum each
That is N25 Million per month each
That is N1 Million per day each minus Sunday
If working 24 hours a day = N41,667 per hour
If working 8 hours a day =  N125,000 per hour

But they don't even actively work for the nation. So they attend Council of State Meetings, but they are paid N500,000 allowance each for each session. All these on top is also welfare provisions, cars, police escorts etc. etc.

loving dis analysis!!!!!!!!!! grin

Tuesday, January 5, 2010
actress MONALISA CHINDA speaks on crashed marriage''he was beating me and the baby!''

trying to get her to talk was not an easy job,she didnt want to run anyone down she said.
finally, after explaining to her that she owes her fans her side of the story about what really went down she finally opened up on her marital status''the divorce has been granted today being december 17,2009.the judge granted me custody of my daughter and segun was given a certain percentage to contribute to the welfare of the child.i was told i would be briefed on when to go and get the rest of my things from the house''.

In an emotion laden voice, monalisa tells STELLA DIMOKO-KORKUS the hell she went through as segun dejo-richards wife.as she recounted the horrific details, the actress stopped a few times to control her shaky voice and cry tears which she confirms are tears of joy for coming out of her dissolved union alive.

this interviewer even shed a few tears hearing monlaisa cry, enjoy the interview and dont hold back the tears.

--let me go straight to the point.tell us why your marriage crashed and what you didnt do right

, hmmm, firstly i didnt plan for what happened to me,secondly, marriage is a beautiful thing and i have always loved the marriage institution.right from when i was 18yrs old,i had always wanted to get married, unfortunately i ended up with someone i thought was the right person.i tried all my best to make sure that i stayed put in my marriage even when all the odds were against me.i wanted to stay put in my marriage, carry my shoulders high and act like everything was normal but things went from bad to worse.it was all constant misunderstanding and quarelling which is normal in every marriage but not being able to sort it out as two mature people, it was just the kind of issues most marriages have but ours just got out of hand and thats why i am where i am today.

--we hear he used to beat the living daylights out of you and people would see you with scars and wounds all over your body but you would say it was something else that happened to you.can you confirm this please?

, i really dont want to get into the voilent part of what happened, yes there was voilence inthe marriage but i dont want to go into details, the vivid details is too painful to talk about.

--but he used to beat you?
, stella,like i said just now,yes there was voilence.

--you ran out of your marriage.at what point did you decide you couldnt take it anymore?
, let me tell you the truth, there was signs of violence when we were courting .you know when you fall in love with someone you just met and feel he is the one you want to be with, regardless of both our shortcomings, women we have this tendency of not facing the truth and the harsh reality that this thing can remain and become a problem if you remain with this person.i am a woman who sticks to something once i make up my mind to do it no matter what, which is not very good because you have to place yourself in a place of reason so that when your mother or older ones tell you ,something is not good for you,you listen but i didnt listen.i saw a bright future with him.i didnt want to be concerned with his short comings, especially when he gets angry and wants to get voilent,i just thought that the maturity that marriage brings would change him but he didnt change.at a point i wanted to leave 2yrs after we got married but i thought about my family,i thought about my friends, especially as i was warned to look before leaping,i thought about that and then i thought about myself.i kept thinking how people would look at me if i left the marriage, people were already saying actresses could not keep their marraiges.i considered a lot of things and so i stayed and prayed he would change but it got worse instead,so i began to pray, i wanted God to bless me with a child that would give me joyand maybe bring back some sanity into the marriage.i wanted a child to give me hope and make me stop thinking about the things i could no longer bear.when my baby arrived,i felt things would change for the better,i thought the cry of a baby in our home would make things better,i thought we would become more mature and concentrate on the baby but this didnt happen,he didnt change and i knew deep within me that if things didnt change i would leave him.six months ago after we had a very very serious altercation,i decided to leave.

---we hear he was giving your money to other girls.that you both shared a joint account and his girlfriends were enjoying your hardwork and that was part of the problem.
, point of correction,we never shared a joint account,i need to make that clear.the bible says we should be submissive to our husband and that was what i did.his money was my money and mine was his.if he was giving it to his women i didnt think that was the problem,i didnt think that was an issue,if there was basic understanding between us,i wouldnt even know that these were the things he was doing, yes he was paying for girls i heard but if there was love,he wouldnt even do these things, love covers a multitude of sins my sister.i would have forgiven him and just let it go.

---what about the accusation that your friends and family were responsible for your behaviour and they were the reason the marraige had problems.like he mentioned emem isong taking you around night clubs,he mentioned rita dominic,he mentioned genevieve nnaji et al.
, first of all stella,i would like to make a public apology to my colleagues that he mentioned and rubbished in the papers,if it wasnt for me,their names wouldnt have been mentioned.there was no need going into the details he did that my friends were the ones responsible,at what point?if i was doing all the things he said,i am sure people would have seen me and written these things he said.i maintained my stand in my marriage,i never used to attend social gatherings because i was not really happy,i mean what was i going out for?i am thinking that now but then i wasnt thinking that way.when people invited me to events,i always gave one excuse or the other.my family were in support of me regardless of the fact that they didnt like what was happening in the union.i mean which family would sit back and enjoy hearing their child is going through what i went through?

---was there a time he was in your family house and they swept him out with a broom?

, what?did he say that?this is the first time i am hearing of it.that is not true.

---is it true that your uncle mr kool the musician did not want your marriage to segun to work out because his own marriage had hit the rocks?

---has my uncles marriage hit the rocks?between you and i,you know mr kools marriage is not going anywhere.it is intact.it has not even hit a stone talkless of the rocks.even if they didnt like him because of what he was doing to their daughter, why didnt he go out of his way to make them change their view and not think the way they did of him?if this people were not happy with him, they are my relations,he should have tried to change.when he was accused of anything he would go and face them and say so what,i mean thats not good, especially not with the voilence being metted out. .

---okay you are now officially single again, how does that make you feel?are you sad?are you happy?what emotion do you feel?

, mixed feelings.i am happy that i came out of that marriage with my whole body intact.i didnt loose an eye,a leg or a hand and my baby is intact as well and nothing happened to her physically or mentally.there are challenges as a single woman, you and i know that.i am satisfied with where i am right now.i am happy with where God has brought me and i am happy i had the strenght to walk away from what was happening to me before it was too late to do so.

---so there is no iota of truth in the talk that your problems began as a result of the money globacom paid you?

, that talk is so shallow.how long have i been in this career and how much i have been making?why will the globacom money that is supposed to bless us be the reason that i left?there is nothing as beautiful as marriage,i know what marriage is,my parents were together before my dad died i had always wanted to marry because of the beautiful example my parents marriage was.no amount of money can come between a husband and wife if there is understanding between them,i was with this man through thick and thin,do you know what i went through with him?no,no,no,no please, he should just go.

---its been a while between when your ex husband granted those interviews where he took you to the cleaners, why didnt you respond then, why now
?

, why now?because it has all died down now and i personally do not like the way people have been talking about me and the marriage i was in,i have heard things that are not true, things that are unbeliveable and unprintable.i think i owe it to the public and my fans who heard the other side to hear my side and know what i went through.if i had died in this marriage, the story would have been different,i would never have had a chance to talk,so why not talk now that i made it out alive from that marriage.i loved my husband to death, love is for two people not for one person, you have to love each other, not one person loving and giving everything and not getting enough back.

---your ex husband gave us the impression that you were someone who let family and friends make decisons for you,so tell us now, what kind of person are you?

, i am not a confrontational person,i am not the type that would want to quarell in public over issues that we can talk about in the bedroom.i dont listen to people once i make up my mind about something.on my own jeje,i just decided that rather for the love to kill me let me kill the love;i decided to save my life and that of my child.i took off and left everything,i just left with my child and we only had on the clothes we wore on that day.i dont like trouble,i love peace,i shy away from problems because i dont like them, when i see that the problem has subsided i can stick out my neck again, thats how i am.i am a straight forward person,i tell it as it is but i dont do it in the heat of the monent,i do it when there is silence.

---you didnt add very forgivng to how you described yourself.didnt segun beg you to come back home?why didnt you forgive him and give him another chance?

, stella i have forgiven him,i have but i cannot go back.it is unfortunate but i cant go back, never.

, why do you think segun was beating you so much?was there something you were doing that made him loose his grip on sanity and beat you?

----there are issues he could not deal with and i guess he got his release from beating.at first it used to shock me but later i used to run for cover and i used my child as a shield to stop him but he would beat me and the child mercilessly as well.i never used to talk back at him or provoke him because i knew that would amount to my being beaten and i used to avoid that.segun got his kicks from beating me and the baby, maybe it was a normal thing to do for him.anyway like i said,it got worse and i ran!

--now that you are out from this marriage without loosing any body part, how would you want to help people who are going through the same thing you went through but cannot break free because they are not financially or emotionally strong?

, marriage is a very sensitive thing,it is only you,on your own you will just get up and askGod what is this?what happened to me?i used to look at myself in the mirror and say God i am better than this, take me out of this misery,i used to talk to the mirror.stella,i wasnt myself anymore,i was begining to beleive in the lies the marraige told me,i was telling myself that maybe i wasnt normal, maybe i was useless, maybe i was mad, so many maybes.i didnt listen to my mum,my brothers and sisters or my uncle.they allowed me to go in and be happy and make it right but it didnt turn out right.so on my own nobody told me,i just carry my pikin and i run!i cant tell the next person what to do because no marriage is the same,if you are being beaten, molested or whatever just talk to God and apply wisdom.i really want to do something later, maybe a talk show or an NGO,i want to go out there and fight for women who are being molested in thier marraiges but right now i want to get my act together first.

---your ex hubby denied ever laying a land on you,he swore you could not come out to say he beat you.

, its not sometihng one would want to admit in public that he was beating up his wife.my ex husband knows how to twist every story to his advantage.

--okay,lets move on,apart from your crashed marraige,2009 was a good year for your career right?
, yes.

---what are your plans for the future?

, i want to be able to concentrate on my career and my brand as a glo ambassador.we have a school we just opened, royal arts academy, its a trainig centre for students who want to acquire skills, just general entertainment,i want to concentrate on that and other projects that will come up.

---if you had a wish what would you wish for?.

, i would wish for the best things in life because they are free.i would wish for Gods constant protection and love.

---what message do you have for your fans out there, the ones who would be reading this interview

, they should take me for who i am ,all what i have said in this interview is the truth.i am not trying to run down anybody, just trying to set the records straight.they should pray for me.

---thank you for this interview monalisa, heres wishing you all the best things in life
, you are welcome and thank you.

Obasanjo to invest in Ethiopia

Andualem Sisay, AfricaNews reporter in Addia Ababa, Ethiopia
Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, is to invest in Hotel and tourism sector of Ethiopia and has since secured a 2,000 square meter of land near Bishoftu (Debre Zeit) town of Oromia Region called Ada.

The former Nigerian President has taken the land two months a go and he is now about to implement his investment on the land located 50 Kilometers east of the capital -Addis Ababa, www.newbusinessethiopia.com reported.

Bankole, the corrupt and spineless Speaker of the House of Representatives meets the Godfather of corruption, Chief Olusegun "Gigolo" Obasanjo. Bankole would be richer than OBJ by the time he orders the next Peugeot cars for the house!

Obansanjo’s intention to invest in Bishoftu has come following the footsteps of Djibouti’s president, Ismael Omar Guelleh, who took 10,000 square meters of land last year to build holiday home in Bishoftu and also bought 3,000 square meters of land for agriculture in Bale, Oromia Region of the country.

After Bishoftu town’s administration approved anew master plan last year, many investors are now investing in the town, which is known for its eight unique lakes.

Ethiopia and Nigeria’s relation has been growing especially after 2006. The first Ethiopia-Nigeria Joint Ministerial Commission Meeting was held from April 26 - 29, 2006 in Addis Ababa, where areas of cooperation for the mutual benefits of the two countries were identified.

Following that from 8 to 10 October, 2006 President Olusegun Obasanjo paid a three day state visit to Ethiopia, which enabled him to visit a flower farm in Bishoftu area.

Prime Minister Meles on his part visited Nigeria from 28 - 29 October, 1996 where agreements were signed relating to economic, scientific and technical cooperations.

Both sides expressed their willingness "to develop and expand trade relations and to create favorable conditions for substantial and harmonious diversification of trade between the two countries on the basis of equality and mutual benefits."

Nigeria's former presidents and heads of state who are still alive should get an even better deal from the federal government this year following plans by the National Assembly to review their monthly welfare package upwards.

The legislature is planning to increase the former leaders' package from N250 million proposed in the 2010 budget to about N2 billion.

The chairman of the House of Representatives committee on appropriation, Ayo Adeseun, disclosed this in an exclusive interview with NEXT.

The money is meant to take care of the former leaders' pension, medicare, yearly vacation abroad, offices and general maintenance. This is besides the N500,000 each of the former leaders is reportedly paid whenever they attend the Council of State meeting, which is held periodically.

Well deserved?

Only seven out of the 12 presidents and heads of states who have ruled the country are still alive. They are Yakubu Gowon (1966-1975), Olusegun Obasanjo (1975-1979 and 1999-2007), Shehu Shagari (1979-1983), Muhammadu Buhari (1983-1985), and Ibrahim Babangida (1985-1993). The others are Ernest Shonekan (Aug 1993-November 17, 1993), and Abdulsalam Abubakar (1998-1999) .

Those who have passed on are Abubakar Tafawa Balewa (prime minister), Aguiyi-Ironsi, amilitary general (Jan 1966-July 1966), Nnamdi Azikiwe (ceremonial president), Murtala Muhammed and Sani Abacha, both of who were military rulers.

Mr. Adeseun, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State said the former leaders deserved better treatment because of the services they rendered to the country, adding that they will convince the executive arm during the budget defence sessions on the planned increase. The lawmaker stated that the N250 million in the 2010 budget is inadequate for the welfare of the leaders, due to the rising cost of living and other issues.

He also said that the vehicles for the former leaders are due for replacement. "Yes, I am aware of the allocation, but we think it is inadequate," he said. "We think we should review the allocation to about N2 billion, if it is the one you are talking about. This money is meant to take care of their accommodation, vehicles, medical expenses and other allowances. These are people who have served this nation and they should be properly taken care of."

Asked how the lawmakers would convince the executive on the matter, the lawmaker said "it is not for them to convince us, we will convince them. They are still coming to defend the budget and so during our interaction we will talk about it."

The welfare train

Allocations for the former leaders' welfare began in 2005, when a total of N140 million was set aside for them in that year's budget. Subsequently, the following allocations were made - N105 million (2006); N24 million (2008) and N250 million (2009). However, no allocation was made in the 2007 budget. It may have been integrated into another item under the office of the SGF.

Until 2008 when the allocation was brought under the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), it was treated under the Presidency or State House.

The emolument is different from that of the sitting president, who takes home N3.5 million annually. The president also earns various forms of allowances.

There have been many contentious issues over the welfare package and allowances of the former presidents and heads of state. For instance, several human rights activists have argued that former military leaders should not be entitled to the package because they rebelled against the Nigerian state by seizing power in military coup d'etat.

There have also been allegations that the emoluments of the former leaders is politicised by sitting governments. For instance, in November 2008, the federal government allegedly withdrew the vehicles attached to Mr. Buhari because of his role in the planned formation of a mega party by opposition figures in the country to challenge the ruling PDP. Mr. Buhari was the presidential candidate of the opposition All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in 2003 and 2007 elections.

But the Office of the SGF refuted the claim. According to Salisu Dambatta, a deputy director (information) in the office of the SGF, in a statement, "It is normal to allocate vehicles to all former presidents and replace such vehicles when the need arises. In line with that practice, General Buhari's vehicle was replaced in 2008 with a new one."

On the regularity of the payments, Mr. Dambatta said "Some of the packages are paid as and when due, while some are paid on a quarterly basis. All benefits former heads of state are treated equally. For the avoidance of doubt, government has never stopped General Buhari's pension."

A spokesperson of The Buhari Organisation (TBO), Osita Okechukwu, however told NEXT last Thursday that the Peugeot car recovered from the former head of state is yet to be returned to him.

Mr. Okechukwu, who is also the spokesperson of the opposition Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP), revealed that it was the Sani Abacha administration that gave Mr. Buhari the vehicle, noting that "even Obasanjo did not give him anything."

That N500, 000 allowance

Aside from the welfare package, each of the former leaders who are automatic members of the Council of State collects N500,000 whenever they attend the meeting.

This is included in the "Certain Political and Judicial Officer Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc) Act" that was prepared by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).

The Council of State is an advisory body which meets six times a year to deliberate and take decision on crucial issues affecting the country.

Membership of the council, according to Section 153 (1)(b), paragraph 5 includes the president, who shall be chairman; the vice president, who shall be the deputy chairman and all former presidents of the federation and former heads of government.

It also includes all former chief justices of Nigeria, the president of the senate, the speaker of the House of Representatives, the 36 state governors and the Attorney General of the Federation.

I think the title should not read breaks IT record. If he is among 12 best in that competition, that means the 12 of them broke the record, which in my own understanding is not spectacular. It is something that is obtainable almost in every developed society, and moreso that Lagos even had same software, then kini big deal!
However, I will congratulate Kehinde Adeyemi for at least being amongst the best for the competition, and hope he will be able to get the patent right for his work?
It still doesn't mean he didn't break a record. Why argue over this guy's feat yet we will be very happy to discuss Mutallab in length?.

"The (first) passport judged problematic by officials was sent to him in this form by post by Nigerian authorities in 2007," he said.

Dutch authorities claimed that the Schengen visa contained in the second document, issued by Cyprus, did not meet the requisite standards, said Kaarls.

Kaarls said Levadiakos has indicated its willingness to pay the bail to secure their striker's freedom.

Agali has played for French teams including Marseille (1996-97), Toulon (1997-98) and Nice (2004-2005), as well as Germany's Schalke 04 (2001-2004).

On Christmas Day, a 23-year-old Nigerian was arrested in the United States for the botched bombing of a Northwest Airlines plane bound for Detroit from Schiphol.
The title is misleading. It's not as if he forged a passport, rather he was travelling with a document sent to him by the NFF. It also said the document does not meet the required standard which does not suffice for fake.

Why is the story only from one source?; No major sports journal is reporting it.

Obasanjo, who spoke while fielding questions from newsmen after a thanksgiving service to mark the New Year at the Chapel of Christ the Glorious King in Abeokuta, said Mutallab’s action should not be a yardstick to castigate all Nigerians, adding, “Nigerians are law-abiding people and not terrorists.”

He said, “The young man’s case should not be used as a standard to judge Nigerians or in fact, to criminalise all Nigerians. Nigerians are not criminals. The fact that the boy committed a grave offence as a Nigerian does not say that all Nigerians are terrorists or criminals.

“I sympathise with his father, particularly, and his family; because I know the father very well. His father is someone I can call specimen of a good man; he is a gentleman and who wants the best for his children. And, this one should be an aberration.”

Obasanjo said he pitied the Mutallabs for the embarrassment caused them by Farouk’s action, saying the young lad was just a defiant who failed to obey his parents.

He added that defiant children are expected to be seen in any large family, urging the young to be obedient and good children to their parents.

“In any large family, you have defiant children. He (Farouk) just turned out to be that. With that, it is a pity and also, it is a good lesson for all parents and all children. If, as a child, you do not listen to your parents, anything can happen.”

Obasanjo, who noted that this year would be glorious for Nigerians, charged them to work for it so that the prophecy could come to manifestation.

Mutallab didn’t report son to NIA, SSS

Meantime, Vanguard learnt that contrary to media insinuations, Alhaji Umar Mutallab never made any formal report about his son’s terrorist tendencies. Investigations from the Presidency have revealed that the only conscious efforts from him to reach out on this issue was an informal chat with a former National Security Adviser, NSA, during which he claimed that his son had cut links with him and would appreciate if efforts could be made to locate him.

According to sources within the Presidency, Alhaji Mutallab’s claim of formally reporting to relevant security agencies is being investigated because of emanating facts that he did not approach the State Security Service, SSS, the National Intelligence Agency, NIA, or even the Police to divulge Farouk’s terrorist tendencies.

The source queried, ‘’If indeed, Mutallab formally reported to any of the security agencies, which was it? Is there any evidence of a report from any where?

The only known evidence is that Mutallab approached the US embassy as stated and acknowledged by the Americans, with details indicating his son was missing, without clear cut information about his affiliations or religious extremism.

[img]http://odili.net/news/source/2010/jan/4/vanguard/images/OBJ3[1].jpg[/img]

‘’Questions are now being asked; why did they (US Embassy) not act promptly, that is, to cancel his visa? Was it just information of a missing son? The Presidency is worried that security agencies locally are trading blames when the US Embassy (if it actually had cogent information) failed to act on such.

‘’Why are Nigerian security agencies trading blames when the Americans themselves did not find the information on him cogent enough to warrant the cancellation of the visa of Umaru Farouk Mutallab or put him on the red list of the FBI as a potential terrorist?’‘

Sources within the Presidency have confirmed that Mutallab informally approached the formerNSA to help search for his son who cut links with him from Yemen.

The source queried further, ‘’Why did Mutallab approach a former NSA instead of the serving officer (was he inaccessible)? Why are issues within security agencies (such as queries) being leaked to the media and who has leaked them?

Prophets Disagree Over Yar’Adua’s Return
Adelowo Oladipo, Lagos
Saturday, January 2, 2010
A Prophet, Primate Theophilous Olabayo has predicted that President Umar Musa Yar’Adua would not return to the country and would be forced vacate his office any moment from now.

http://odili.net/news/source/2010/jan/2/601.html

The Primate, Evangelical Church of Yahwah stated this in an interview with Saturday Tribune on new year eve, highlighted that the president’s seat will still be vacant as some power- brokers within the Peoples Democratic Party are preparing Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan to take-over the rein of governance.

Olabayo however said that the decision that Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan should take-over from President Yar’Adua would not stand the test of time, following an impending revolution that would bring about a God-chosen leader who would embark on spiritual cleansing of the country.

He explained further that ‘what will happen later in the year in Nigeria, would make whoever is abmitious to take up a political appointment, to have a rethink about it.”

Olabayo stressed that a one-time president and a past governor in one of the 36 states of the federaton should also pray against bereavement.

He said: “Thus says the Lord of the Hosts of heaven, that the two past leaders may not last the year, while the Olu of Warri, Delta State, should pray fervently in order to survive the year 2010.

“Kidnappers and ritual killers would take-over the country and this would lead to a revolution and the emergence of a God sent leader.”

In a related development, the Pastor of Inri Evangelical Spiritual Church, Oke-Afa, Isolo, Lagos, Primate Elijah Babatunde Ayodele said there will be mixed blessing for the citizenry in the new year.

He added that the rich will have protracted problems with their wealth, while the poor would get poorer if they are not prayerful as there is no indication for economic stability in the country.

Speaking further with the Saturday Tribune at the church’s premises on the new year day, he said, President Yar’Adua would return to the country very soon, but that the ailing president would be faced with a lot of political crisis, especially from his party members in the PDP and other prominent Nigerians who were dissatisfied with the on-going political situation in the country.

Accordingly he said, “God told me that Vice-President Jonathan Goodluck will not be allowed to be president in the event that President Umaru Yar’Adua can not continue as result of ill-health and he would not be allowed to get a ticket for re-election in the 2011 general elections and that the citizenry should pray against the incidents of bomb scare Aso Rock, Presidential Villa.

“In the new year there will be rumour of military coup while all the service chiefs will be removed.

Nigerian among best global IT developers

A YOUNG Nigerian has achieved the rank of the best software developers in the world. He achieved this by being among the best 12 software developers using Oracle technology in the Oracle Application Express Developer Competition 2009. His name is Kehinde Adeyemi, a 2006 graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University.

http://odili.net/news/source/2010/jan/1/15.html

The Oracle Technology Network (OTN) conducted a competition to promote the development of new Oracle Application Express (APEX) applications by Oracle developers.

Adeyemi developed a Driver's Licence and Vehicle Registration Application, which he designed to run on the internet.

He developed the application using Lagos State Motor Vehicles Department of Nigeria as a case study. The application focuses on assisting drivers' and vehicle owners in the state to apply for new drivers' licences, renew drivers licences, replace lost drivers licences, register new and used vehicles, renew numbers plate and transfer numbers plates. The application consists of forms, which applicants or registrants can fill, and also allows them to make payment using credit cards. The application then issues a confirmation slip, which they in turn submit with proofs of identity to the Motor Vehicle Department Office for further processing. The application brings the power of e-payment to prospective users.

Adeyemi has been an Oracle developer since 2005 and has garnered significant experience working with different software projects. He was the only African in the top 12 of the competition.

Joseph Yobo marries ex-beauty queen, Adaeze Igwe, in Jos
By Audu Onoja, Correspondent, Jos

Super Eagles Vice Captain, Joseph Yobo, on New Year day, got married to former Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN), Adaeze Igwe, at the Evangelical Bible Outreach Ministries International (EBOMI) Prayer City, Jos, Plateau State.

http://odili.net/news/source/2010/jan/2/401.html

Yobo, who flew into the country for the low-key wedding, took many by surprise, as most of the guests at the Exodus Night Meeting at the EBOMI Prayer City were not aware of his presence at the gathering.

General Overseer of EBOMI Prayer City, Prophet Isah El Buba, while officiating at the early morning wedding, which was witnessed by Governor Jonah Jang and top government officials, described Yobo and his wife as new born again Christians who gave their lives to Jesus Christ during their recent encounter with him in London.

According to him, the solemnisation of the wedding became necessary as the duo have left their past behind and embraced God, urging them to always remember God first in all they do.

He described marriage as something ordained by God, and as such, whoever finds a wife has found a good thing in the sight of the Lord.

Buba called on the couple to take marriage with all the seriousness it deserves, insisting that marriage is a glorious thing that calls for tolerance from each spouse.

He told Yobo that since he is going to lead his colleagues to South Africa this year for the World Cup tournament, and for the African Cup of Nations in Angola, his wedding has prepared him to go for these two football fiestas with God’s anointed golden legs.

In the same vein, Governor Jang, who is an ordained minister at the EBOMI Prayer City, told the couple to show love to each other.

Jang advised Yobo to remain steadfast in the Lord with his wife since there are trials in marriage, but assured him that God will see them through.

The couple exchanged vows at 3.30 a.m. on January 1 at the prayer meeting amid cheers from well-wishers and relations, who stormed Jos for the wedding despite the timing.

The couple had private reception in their hotel room immediately after the wedding.

Attempts to speak with Yobo proved abortive as he refused to speak with journalists over his choice of Jos for the wedding.

Yobo, born September 6, 1980 in Kano, but grew up in Port Harcourt, is a Super Eagles defender currently playing with the English Premier League (EPL) club Everton.

He is the younger brother of former Nigeria international Albert Yobo.

Yobo left Nigeria for Belgium to join Standard Liège in 1998. He made his first team appearance in 2000, and went on to appear 46 times for the Jupiler League club. In 2001, he was bought by French club, Olympique Marseille. Soon after making his debut, Yobo was loaned to CD Tenerife in Spain. After nine months Yobo retuned to Marseille, before joining English club Everton, again on loan, in July 2002. A £1million fee was required to register the player, and he became the first signing of new manager David Moyes. An option to make the move permanent was taken up and completed in 2003 after a dispute between Yobo and Marseille was settled, with Everton agreeing a fixed additional fee of £4 million.

Yobo became one of the most consistent players in the Everton squad, and was one of only seven players in the entire league to play every minute of every game throughout the 2006/2007 Premier League season.

The delay, in 2006, in signing a new contract with Everton led to rumours of a move to Arsenal, but on July 22, Yobo committed himself to Goodison Park until 2010. As of 15 April 2007 Yobo is the record appearance holder for an overseas player at Everton.

In 2007, he set up the Joseph Yobo Charity Foundation, to help under-privileged children in Nigeria. As of July 18, 2007 he has handed out over 300 scholarship awards ranging from primary to university level. Yobo has started a football academy in the Ogoni region of Nigeria. He also runs football camps in Lagos, in conjunction with Everton Lagos F.C.

Igwe was a student at the University of Abuja, before she became Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria. She pursued her childhood dream by representing Anambra in the pageant with 29 other girls.

Apart from winning N5 million, a Hyundai car and endorsement deals, Anambra-born Igwe represented Nigeria at Miss World 2008 in South Africa. She made the top 20 in Miss World Talent, and placed second in Miss World Sports.

During her reign, Igwe established her own charity, The Adaeze Igwe Foundation, an organisation, which promotes AIDS and breast cancer awareness and raises funds towards similar causes, including malaria and tuberculosis.

She was quoted to have said of her relationship with Yobo: “We are in a relationship and it is not one of those frivolous ones. It is a serious one that my mum even knows about. This is for real.”

She is currently attending the New York Film Academy and was at Vivian Fowler Memorial College before the University of Abuja, which she did not return to after she won the MBGN crown.

Sustained investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) into the alleged activities of former Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Oceanic Bank, Mrs Cecilia Ibru while at the helm of the bank, has revealed her alleged ownership of about 52 of the property being used by the bank as its branches nationwide.

http://odili.net/news/source/2010/jan/3/601.html

In the document detailing the property already traced to her, the embattled banker was said to be the landlord to the bank in which her family owns substantial interest.

About N29 billion was said to have been accruing to her annually from the deal. Ibru, who is facing prosecution by the anti-corruption commission, according to investigation, collected five years’ rent upfront on some of the property at choice locations, attracting as much as N1.3 billion on each of such property.

Others were said to have gone for minimum of N210 million a year. One of the property that reportedly attracted N1.3 billion was the one in Marina, Lagos, known as MarineView.

The branch at Adetokunbo Ademola, Victoria Island, Lagos was said to have attracted N210 million a year.

Her alleged property at No 270 Ozumba Mbadwe Avenue, Lagos was said to have gone for N288 million, while another portion of the same building got her another N75 million from the bank.

A property at 154 Ikorodu Road, Palmgrove, Lagos, reportedly fetched her N825 million for a year.

In Abuja, the property on Herbert Macaulay, Wuse Zone 6, reportedly fetched her N270 million. The popular high-rise known as Metro Plaza, which was said to have been traced to her, was said to have fetched her N216 million from the bank, while she is also landlord to the British High Commission which has its Abuja visa section there.

Sunday Tribune gathered that the commission was still compiling other properties said to be belong to her.

Nigeria’s image got a boost recently when a final year Law student of University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Tyme Mba emerged the Miss Nigeria International in far away China.

Mba, who was the most voted African at the show, is not new in the business of pageantry. Before her present feat, she had taken part in many beauty contests including Miss Enugu Campus 2006 where she came second, Most Beautiful Girl in Onitsha, Most Beautiful in Anambra State and Miss Nigerian University Campus among others.

Excited Mba said that her current status would enable her to touch lives positively. “I hope to work with NGOs. First of all, I would give gifts to first babies born in the New Year in rural hospitals.

The gesture is targeted at showing appreciation and love to women and children in rural areas. This is the kind of legacy the late First Lady, Mariam Babangida left behind. I would also give several school children in rural areas items like exercise books, writing materials as well as organise annual writing competition for secondary school students which will earn the winner a scholarship.”

While the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Agbani Darego, Queen of England and Prof. Dora Akunyili inspire her, the tall, dark beauty from Anambra State said she keeps a tight focus as she understands that men have a way of distracting young females with their ideas.

The new queen, however, confesses that she is currently not in a relationship. “I need a tall, handsome man with a good body build who totally fears God but knows how to unwind.”.

I didn’t snatch anybody’s husband – Funke Akindele

Funke Akindele

Let me state categorically here that, I did not snatch anybody’s boyfriend or husband. I’m single but I’m not searching

She’s one of the top rated Yoruba actresses, yet she’s the worse hit in terms of bad publicity. One time, she’s accused of snatching another woman’s husband, and at the other time, she’s rumoured to have snatched a colleague’s boyfriend and accused of high-handedness by the upcoming Yoruba actresses.

To ascertain the authenticity of these allegations prompted Showtime Celebrity to go after the quintessential Ikorodu, Lagos State-born actress, Funke Akindele to hear her own side of the story. And you will not be disappointed as she speaks the way she has never done before. We bring to you the true story of Funke Akindele. Enjoy it.

Funke Akindele has become a brand to reckon with, what’s the mystery behind that name?

There’s no mystery behind my name. It’s only God that’s the secret behind that name, Funke Akindele. By His grace, Funke has been able to make a statement so far. And I’m going to achieve more with time. I’m not yet there. This is just a starting point for me.

Is Funke the only name your parents gave to you?

I have two names; Olufunke Ayotunde. Olufunke means: “God has given this child to me to care for”, while Ayotunde means, “my joy has come.’’

Was there any special event during your birth that prepared you for what you are doing today?

I have asked my mum that, and the only thing she told me was that when she was carrying my pregnancy, I gave her a tough time; that she was going in, and out of the hospital. But the only thing I would remember is that when I was young, I was involved in acting, singing and dancing especially during my secondary school days.

As an award winning actress, you name rings bell everywhere you go; does that put pressure on your personal life?

Well, the only pressure it has put on me is to work harder to make better movies; something that will impact positively on the people and my fans . It hasn’t gotten into my head. I’m still myself and it’s by the grace of God that I’m celebrated today.

I pray, I will be there evergreen like the likes of Joke Silva. Sometimes, I may want to be alone, but you find out that there are some fans that would insist on talking with me. I would have no option than to be friendly and grant them audience. That’s some of the pressures I think fame has placed on me.

One of the prices of stardom is undue invasion of one’s privacy and scandals, how much of these prices have you paid so far?

A lot… and I’m still paying. At least, I didn’t understand it initially. When journalists call me on phone at different times to make inquiries or to confirm a particular information, I would quickly get pissed off and angry; “why do you like to dwell on negative stories about me, instead of celebrating me positively.”

My mum who’s always there for me, would advise me to learn to absorb whatever scandals that come my way as a star; adding that some people would want to cook up negative stories just to pull me down and that I should remain focused and prayerful.

It’s normal, and I’m beginning to live with it. But my prayer is that they don’t tarnish my hard earned name in the bid to get at me. Sometimes , it’s painful .

Which of the scandals hit you most?

A lot of them. I don’t want to talk about the scandals now. But the one that really hit me most was when they rumoured that I was arrested at Hauteur for a drug-related offence. I was shocked! At the time, the story made the news in Nigeria, I was never in Hauteur. I used to pass through Hauteur to London, but that week the story made the headlines, I didn’t pass through Hauteur.

So, when I read the story in the newspapers, I was shocked and disappointed. I couldn’t have been arrested for drug-related offence in London while I was back to Nigeria. It’s not possible. I cried when I read the story. Why is it that people are always writing negative stories about me? At that point, I resorted to calling on all my friends in the media to clear the air. I didn’t travel out of Nigeria at the time the story made the news.

And you think mischief makers were not at work then?

I don’t want to believe so; neither do I want to think about it anymore. I want to remain focused and never to allow anything to bother me, because the more I think about the scandals the more I am disturbed. I don’t want anything that would draw me backwards. I want to face what I’m doing and achieve more for myself .

You have talked so much about your mother. Is she really your mentor?

Yes, she is my mentor. She’s a wonderful woman. After God is my mother. She’s supporting me because not all mother would want to support their children to pursue their dreams. For instance, I studied law, but I’m not practising the profession today. Ordinarily, my parents would have insisted on seeing that I practise my profession. But now, I’m not legal practise; acting is my first love.

I love acting, writing scripts and producing movies. Financially, my mum have been supportive to me. I remember when I produced my first movie, my mum supported me financially. She believes so much in me. During my secondary school days before I would go on stage to dance, my mum would assemble all the required costumes for me. She’s really a wonderful woman, and my mentor.

How would you describe your relationship with the up-and-coming Yoruba actresses?

It has been wonderful. If you have been opportuned to watch my movies, you would notice that I regularly introduce new faces. I believe I have a duty to help the up-and-coming actresses because it’s not easy getting to the top. People talk about sexual harassment in the motion picture industry. I have never been harassed sexually.

If truly, it exists, I would want to discourage the ugly practice. I want the up-and-coming actresses to believe so much in their talents and learn to shun the attitude of looking sideways. It’s God that gives talents and therefore, I see no reason any actress would want to sleep her way to the top. If it’s the will of God for you, you will surely make it. So, I am all out to support the young actresses to prosper.

I don’t want them to pass through what I experienced when I was starting . The stress of walking around town, going from audition to another. I want to give them a true sense of belonging.

Why then, are they castigating you and accusing you of high-handedness and possessing an attitude?

It’s bound to happen. People would talk rubbish when you are doing well. They would want to bring you down; say negative things about you ; some would criticise you excessively. I read in a soft-sell magazine recently concerning one, Toriola Olawunmi who alleged that I was nasty to her because she joined another group called “Oduofa” after she had deserted the “Concuss group’.

I was shocked at this story because I have never had any such encounter with an up-andcoming actress. But certainly, one problem I think I have with them is the fact that they see me as a strict person . I believe when you are here to work with me, you should do your work and go back to your home. I don’t believe in lazing about, or turning into a chatterbox when you are supposed to be working. Those of them who understand me are okay working with me .

When you started in that televison series, “I need to Know” sponsored by Unicef during your undergraduate days, did you envisage the height you have attained today in the industry?

My brother, I didn’t. The only thing I knew then, was that I love acting. Acting is my first love and I think, I ‘ve got the talent. There’s this urge in me to go out there, and showcase what stuff I’m made of. The Bible warned us against burying our talents because God would certainly ask us of it.

How were you selected to be part of the cast of that TV series?

Back then, I was an intern with the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria(APCON). After closing from work, I would go for auditions. One day, I heard about an audition taking place at the former Charly Boy’s residence in Gbagada and I went for the audition. At the end of the audition, I was selected for the pilot and that’s how I got the role. Unfortunately, after featuring in that series, I thought the roles would start coming in droves, but it never did. I had to go back to the auditioning arena again.

How much were you paid for the first time?

We were paid handsomely. It was a United Nations project, so we were paid very well. Once I got my pay, I quickly rush home to give my mum the money for safe keeping.

Let’s talk about your monster hit, ‘Jenifa’ which broke all barriers and fetched you so many mega deals and opened doors for you, was Jenifa part of your life story?

No. Firstly, I’m not from Ahitoro, I’m from Ikorodu area of Lagos State. I’m not a wanna-be like Jenifa. I’m not AIDS/HIV positive like “Jenifa’ There’s nothing that has to do with Funke Akindele in Jenifa. It was just a role I played in the movie.

What’s the story behind Jenifa?

It was a story my young sister told me concerning what happened in their school. I also had similar story during my undergraduate days at the University of Lagos, where female students who lived in hotels would go about sleeping with old men and offering themselves for hire to attend parties. We have a lot of wannabe on campus. They are eager to drive flashy cars and dress expensively just to meet with the standards of some of their girl friends who are living big on campus. They do not know what those girls did to make their money.

Let me state categorically here that, I did not snatch anybody’s boyfriend or husband. I’m single but I’m not searching
They just want to do anything to be like them. Through “Jenifa”, I passed a message to the campus babes and also, I dwelled on HIV. Here I tried to be different because of the fact that the issue of girls living a wayward life on campus have been over-flogged in our movies. What I did was to do something that would attract audience and not to bore them.

I tried to do something that would make movie bluffs to laugh, and at the same time, learn a lesson from it. That was why I created the Jenifa character to make my audience laugh.

And you are planning to do another movie in that line of Jenifa?

Jenifa is now a brand that we need to celebrate. She’s now somebody we have to be introduced in different movies, and in different ways. She’s now like the “Madiya’s Reunion”, “Madiya Goes to Jail.” That character ,”Madiya’ is what I want to depict in Jenifa. Right now, I’m coming out with the ‘Return of Jenifa.”

The desire of every Nigerian movie star is to feature either in Hollywood or Bollywood movies, do you ever nurse such ambition?

Why not. I pray I get invited someday to feature in Hollywood movie. I ‘m currently managed by stramonyia, 36. They have my profile and are working towards getting me an international job. If at the end of the day, they believe Funke Akindele has what it takes to earn a role in Hollywood movie why not. I will gladly accept to star in Hollywood movie.

Your popularity has oftenexposed you to negative publicity which you also c omplained about, would you say the media have been fair to you in recent times?

I wouldn’t answer yes, or no. I don’t want to talk about that now because some journalists write stories without verifying their facts. And it’s very disheartening and unprofessional. I’m not a snob. I don’t know you (referring to this reporter) from Adam, you walked up to me at a recent Nollywood function and I talked with you politely. I’m like that. Except when I’m working, and I must let you know that I’m busy and perhaps, would ask you to come back later.

When people walk up to me, I’m always fair to them.

Are you ever harsh, especially when receiving calls from a stranger?

I answer them politely. I have a private line which I hardly give out. But most often, I do give them my Personal Assistant’s number, that way I can curtail a lot of calls that would be coming to me. But most often too, I do ask my fans to hook up with me on my site, where I chat with them twice a week.

You sound friendly, and innocent, but your name have been characterised with controversy in recent times; it’s either you are been alleged of snatching somebody’s husband or that you are locked in a battle over a boyfriend. What’s the truth in all these allegations?

I said earlier, I wasn’t going to talk about this matter, but there’s no way this interview session can be completed without me clearing the air.

I’m single but I’m not searching . By the grace of God, I will get married very, very soon. My fans out there, please pray for me that it works out fine. Funke Akindele is a role model to many young people. Many young girls today want to be like Funke Akindele.

So, why should I snatch another woman’s husband or boy- friend? Funke Akindele did not snatch anybody’s husband period. I rather would stick to my fans out there than to do things that would tarnish my image.

Though painful, how did your mother receive all these allegations?

She was courageous, and the one who was encouraging me to be strong. Initially, I broke down and cried seriously, but my mum was there for me, encouraging me to be strong.

Letting me know that my fans out there want to see me produce wonderful works, and that if I breakdown or allow myself to be distracted with all these stories, I would not be able to achieve more. “You have to be strong and remain focused.” That was the voice of my mum.
