However you wanna qualify it, be rest assured that bomb scare could be the next weapon of mass destruction in Nigeria. may be our politicians are on the testing stage now as against 2011 and that is just what happened yesterday. While other countries are preparing seriously for world cup success in South Africa, PDP stalwarts are preparing on how to perfect the bomb rigging. They will bomb the polling booth and take the ballot box this time around.

True; but that is neither new nor prophetic, IMO. Some of the things he said there have been discussed here on Nairaland already - and those who had the foresight to articulate these worrying political decimals in Nigeria are not posing as prophets and/or prophetesses.

Another thing in particular that gives me sleepless nights is the idea of schools and universities established by some of these Nigerian megastars in mega-ministries (pardon the pun). I don't have a clue what the situation on ground is; but if it is true that these institutions are exorbitant in the fees they charge, methinks that prospective students should boycott them and look to Universities that would give them a sound future.

Bomb Detonates on a Man in Lagos, Nigeria
Posted 22,Dec. 2009
A very shocking incidence has occurred in Lagos state Nigeria South West Region, as a bomb has exploded on a man at the Onipanu Area in Lagos.

Although details are still sketchy, reports say that the man walked into the building housing Superscreen Television, with some bombs, one of which appears to have gone off, blowing off his fingers and his face, the victim is believed to still be alive and able to speak.

Our reporters at the scene of the incident say the police bomb disposal squad has arrived at the building, and efforts are being made to diffuse the remaining bombs in the victim’s custody.

The extent of damage to the Superscreen television office and other offices in that complex is yet to be ascertained and the root of this shocking incident is still unknown. Investigations are already underway to bring to book the perpetuators of this act.

419: Televangelist Arrested; To Be Arraigned Tomorrow For Fraud
Posted To The Web: Tuesday, December 22, 2009 - Henry Ojelu & Kemi Asake

Popular Celestial Church of Christ televangelist, Prophet Isreal Ola-Ogundipe, has been arrested by the police and will be arraigned tomorrow over allegation of fraud.

According to the information on the charge sheet filed by the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, the televangelist was alleged to have duped a woman of N10 million under the pretext of using the money for a religious purpose.

His arraignment which was slated for last week, was shifted forward because Ogundipe appeared in court without any legal representation.

When the matter came up yesterday, he was not present in court. His lawyer, Mr. A. Kuye, told the court that Ogundipe had been rearrested by the police that granted him bail earlier.

Not satisfied with the explanation, Justice Dada Mojisola insisted that Prophet Ola Ogundipe must be present in court and adjourned the case till tomorrow.

Part of the charge already filed before the court reads:

“That you, Prophet Isreal Ola Ogundipe on or about 5 November, 2002, at 7/11, Duro Ishola Street, Alakuko, Lagos, in the Ikeja judicial division, stole the sum of twelve thousand British pounds (12,000 pounds) from one Mrs. Olaide Williams.”

“That you, Prophet Israel Ola Ogundipe, between the months of June 2002 and December 2007, at 7/11, Duro Ishola Street, Alakuko, Lagos, in the Ikeja Judicial Division fraudulently obtained the sum of N8.5 million from one Mrs. Olaide Williams Oni, by false pretences, claiming same to be for the furtherance of religious work and purchase of land and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 419 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.”

“That you, Israel Ola Ogundipe on or about the month of October, 2004 at 7/11, Duro Ishola Street, Alakuko, Lagos in the Ikeja Judicial Division, forged one Nigerian international passport, with the name Sanyaolu Babatunde Solomon and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 467 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.”

Cecilia Ibru To Lose 28 Houses In Dubai
Posted To The Web: Tuesday, December 22, 2009 - NAN

Former Managing Director of Oceanic Bank Plc, Mrs. Cecilia Ibru, is to lose 28 properties in Dubai, the United Arab Emirate, to the anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged financial impropriety.

P.M.NEWS learnt that the EFCC has uncovered the houses, though there was no confirmed report of when Mrs. Ibru acquired the properties.

A source close to the EFCC informed P.M.NEWS that the agency was able to trace the properties located at the Al Warsan region of Dubai, along the Dubai-Hatta Road, between Interchange 5 and 6 of Emirates Road, Opposite the Dubai Central Fruit and Vegetable Market.

The anti graft agency has vowed to mount surveillance on Mrs. Ibru who last Friday won a legal battle to travel abroad.

Ruling on a motion filed by Mrs. Ibru, the presiding judge, Mr. Justice Dan Abutu said the former Oceanic Bank boss could travel to the US for medical attention but she must return to the country and appear in court on 26 January, 2010.

Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, had in an interview with the influential Financial Times of London, accused Mrs. Ibru of contributing immensely to the problems of the bank.

Sanusi disclosed that Mrs. Ibru and members of her family cornered about 70 per cent of the total loans the bank granted to customers, before her removal from office.

He added that Mrs. Ibru and her family obtained loans from Oceanic Bank to purchase property in Lagos Island, Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Dubai.

“About 70 per cent of the loan in the bank is non accrual. At least, 70 per cent of that is somehow or other tied to the Chief Executive Officer or her family,” Sanusi said.

Sanusi said the EFCC was mandated to go after the properties and assets acquired by the former bank CEO, adding that the EFCC was cooperating with the CBN in locating the properties and assets which will be forfeited to the government.

Mrs. Ibru, 63, and four other banks chief executives were sacked by the CBN on 14 August, 2009 when the five banks failed the audit exercise conducted by the apex bank.

They Used My Blood For Ritual: Girl, 15, Accuses Lover, Pastor

Posted To The Web: Tuesday, December 22, 2009 - Damola Ogundimu

A mild drama ensued at Isawo, Ikorodu, Lagos when a 15-year old girl (name withheld), a pupil of Government College, Ikorodu, accused her boyfriend, Akeem Ayinde, 18, and a pastor of the Celestial Church of Christ, Imisi Oluwa Parish, Ikorodu, Prophet Ojo Ikide, of using her blood for ritual.

Speaking with P.M.NEWS, the victim said she had been dating Ayinde, a tailor, for about four months, but after a stern warning from her mother, she stopped the relationship.

But on 9 December, on her way to school, the victim narrated that Akeem abducted her and took her to his aunty’s (Mrs. Kafilat Samson) house at 28, Aiyedogbon Street, Isawo and slept with her, despite her plea that she was a virgin and not ready to have sex.

“After raping me, I was bleeding profusely and he brought out a white handkerchief to clean my private parts. Soon after, his mum came and took us to the Celestial Church where the Prophet told me to sit outside, while Ayinde and his mother were discussing with him inside the church. When the pastor came out, he asked if I was a virgin, and I said yes, and he told me to go home,” she said.

The mother of the victim, Mrs. Omolola Adeyemi, told P.M.NEWS that when she got home that day she did not notice anything, but the victim’s father discovered blood on the bed where she (victim) slept. But when he asked her what was wrong, she said she was menstruating. A week after, she was not able to eat anything and was still bleeding.

Mrs. Adeyemi said she and her husband took her to a pastor for prayers, and it was when she narrated her ordeal and encounter with her boyfriend and his family members in the church, that they notified policemen at the Owutu Division, who promptly arrested the culprit, his mother, the aunt and the pastor.

Narrating his own side, the boyfriend, Akeem, 18 confessed that he made love to the girl and later took her to the church with his mum, because he loved her. He said he wanted to find out from the prophet if he can marry her. When asked why he took his mother along, he said it was his mother who knew the prophet.

In his own confession, Prophet Ikide told P.M.NEWS that when the suspect brought the girl to his church, he told him that the girl was two small, and that she was also in school uniform. He felt embarrassed and told them he could only pray for them and charged them N5,000 for prayers. He explained that he was surprised when the girl and her mum came with the police to arrest him.

The suspects are still being detained at the Owutu Police Station as at the time of filing this report, while the victim was taken to the Ikorodu General Hospital for medical examination.

The police said the suspects would be charged to court after investigation

Most Celebrated Pastors Are Fake —Cleric
Posted To The Web: Tuesday, December 22, 2009 - Jide Osokoya

http://news.onlinenigeria.com/templates/?a=12045&z=12

Most Nigerian celebrated general overseers, founders and pastors have been described as deceitful people who capitalise on the efficacy of God to defraud innocent devotees.

This allegation was made by the shepherd and head of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), Elisha Parish, Dr. Marcus Tibetan, during the launch of the book of his predictions for 2010 in his church on Sunday.

miffed by the way most pastors preach prosperity and breakthroughs instead of salvation of lost souls, the shepherd said most of the pastors are fake and they need serious deliverance to avoid the wrath of God.

According to Prophet Tibetan, “most of those popular pastors you see on television screens have no calling of God, they called themselves just to turn the church into a business centre. Their attitudes have shown that they are not of God.

“Look at a situation where a church established secondary schools and universities that are very exorbitant for children of their poor members, who they drain to put such schools in place.

“A church is supposed to be where the hopeless will get hope and sinners will get salvation. But here in Nigeria, pastors now compete on who is the richest and struggle over who should acquire a jet first. Don’t you think they need deliverance themselves?” the Celestia clergy queried.

In his 2010 predictions, the clergy, who predicted Gani Fawehinmi’s death this year, Obama’s emergence as America’s president, the victory of Dr. Segun Mimiko over Segun Agagu and the incarceration of Chief Bode George, among others, said those who embezzled Nigeria’s money would start to reap their reward from 2010.

The top seer, who is referred to as the Nostrademus of our time by his teeming followers, revealed that only mechanised farming would save Nigeria’s economy in 2010, thus advising all the governors across the nation to make mechanised farming a compulsory project in their states.

He further urged Nigerians to pray more fervently for President Umar Yar’Adua to survive his present ailment, emphasising that prayer had been the sustaining factor for the sick president. He revealed that the president would have died last July, but God divinely spared his life.

Prophet Tibetan also warned against political crisis in Anambra, Ogun and Ondo states in 2010, adding that Lagos, as a state, is equally playing with snakes politically. He cautioned against selection and hand-picking of political candidates, saying such acts would lead to chaos.

Did you see the roof of that building?. How do they control the temperature inside that structure?. They may perform 22 surgeries there in 4 hours but it's very unhealthy and I guess they performed minor surgeries because opening the internal organs in that environment is a murder attempt. The government should just relocate the whole Makoko to the mainland.

Theblessed:

Yes, Nigerian women are as promiscuous as their men. Just as their men are unfaithful so are most of Nigerian women before marriage. They can keep several boyfriends on the go without their sweet hearts knowing about it and from what I am hearing these days, many are still doing it whilst in marriage, shame really.

However, should you confront them obviously, they will deny it and pretend to be virgins just as Fela indicated in his music - dem go say dem be babio o o. Abi, guys nobi so?

I know how many of una wey don catch una girlfriends in similar situations before, sure una no want spill beans here nobe so

Really, to understand the true nature of promiscuity among Nigerian women, let's talk about it here on this forum?
.

Another silly assumption about Nigerians. If promiscuity is based on nationality then Tiger Woods must be a Nigerian. If we should go with your argument then Your mother and you are sexually promiscuous since you are Nigerians. undecided
