1) I would advise you not to continue as age is not on your side. However, pharmacy is a professional course which means you could open your store(become self employed), apply for masters abroad. With your uncle you could get financial aid to further your education.

2) Passion is key in anything one does. However, if you can handle Industrial Chemistry as a course you can make it. Academically, there exists little differences between Pharmacy and Industrial Chemistry; you write the same chemical formulas, compounds, if needed cram the crambles. Only difference is you apply the chemistry(pharmacy is mainly about chemistry than biology) in Pharmacy to the human body, while the other is applied in the industry. An industrial chemist can work in the pharmaceutical industry even though I concede a pharmacist is given more access, privilege and respect.

3) C'mon, don't you want to enjoy life when your mates are? You'd be above, maximum 35 years old. Haha!! shocked!!. Unless, you intend becoming a researcher(which I'd say go overseas), I don't see the point.
4 years + 1 year NYSC = 24/25. Applying for Jamb + Bpharm = 30. Better finish here in Nigeria, apply for masters overseas and finish in say Msc in pharmaceutical science.
Passion is good, although you can generate passion yourself. When the desirable isn't available, the available becomes the desirable.

In conclusion, finish your Industrial Chemistry(you sound smart and intelligent), aim for a First Class. It's possible, a girl in Unilag did it, she's just 22(4.85). When you get your First Class, I bet even MIT, Oxford or Novartis would come calling.

Wish you the very best in your chosen career.
I can't thank you more than you deserve. The time you spent in giving me this details is most appreciated.

My uncle told me that if I graduate with a minimum of 2.1, have made it. He promised to bring me to his country for masters and sponsor me all through. Though he's currently the one that's gonna be paying for my school fees. But, am someone that don't believe in promises. he is making those promises now, who knows what will happen in the next 4yrs. That's why I need to know what's going on in the nigeria Job sector and if this course will guarantee me a better life (without anyone's help).

Good day......
My own case is kind of different here and I need reply in earnest..

MY STORY GOES THUS,
.
I have always wanted to be a pharmacist because
.
1) that's what my dad want because his elder brother who happens to be my uncle is also a pharmacist and currently a multimillionaire.
.
Am physically challenged ( A leg disfunction as a result of polio) and have been using Crutches since I was 4 years. I believe being a pharmacist will make my life easier coz all I have to do is prescribe and sell drugs. I graduated from secondary school in 2011 at an early age of 16 and spend 2 more years in getting my O'level result at one sitting with 4B(eng, math, eco, nd geography) and the rest C4. I applied for Jamb in 2013 but got 186. Despirate to get into any higher institution coz am tired of staying at home, I did polythecnic of Ibadan p-utme and passed excellently and was admitted into Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) department. I dont want to do HND at all so, Before the end of my programme, I decided to apply for Jamb again and Chose UI since it's closer to Polybadan nd I did my siwes there. So, I chose pharmacy and when jamb result was out, I scored 215 while my other colleagues scored, 234, 225, 219, my roomate whom also chose pharmacy scored 263. Suddenly, I felt the urge to change my course coz i was afraid of the cut-off mark nd knwing UI fully well that failure to meet up with the required mark is no admission and again my dad told me this is the last jamb he will pay for and if I fail to make it to university, am on my own. I change to Industrial Chemistry since I was told it's the best in faculty of science with a lot of Job prospects. When p-utme result was out, I performed well and infact, my score was the same with dentistry and physiotherapy but 2 marks behind pharmacy. Out of more than 20 student in my class that wrote UI p-utme, only 6 were admitted. 2 into pharmacy (including the guy dat got 263), one into Mls, one into Biochem, one into chemistry and I into ICH. To cut the long story short, I am just newly admitted to Industrial Chemistry. My family love the course, even my uncle who owns a pharmacist store in America said the course is very lovely and said no doubt, a good grade will guarantee me a better life. Now, to those in the Job sector, considering my condition, please, should I continue with this course or apply for jamb and go into the medical line.... My aim initially was to get admitted into this course and then, apply for another jamb to study pharmacy/dentist
.
My question goes thus,
1) should I continue with this course and nt bother about jamb again?
2) should I apply for jamb while studying the course?
3) should I finish with my Bsc and then apply for Jamb again to get Bpharm or BDS (bachelor of dentistry nd surgery)
Note: i'll be 21 dis year may nd dat means i'll graduate 4rm dis course at the age of 24 and one more thing, I don't have passion for any course, all I want is a better Life.

Nursing science is a very beautiful course. The thing is if you want to enjoy these things, just travel out overseas and you will be amazed. Let me give you a very good example. There are so many graduates of dentistry and dental surgery (BDS) that are so bitter about their lives here in Nigeria why? Because our mentality in this useless country is so much inclined towards the MBBS degree to the extent that MBBS holders do almost all the jobs of even BDS holders. Its here in Nigeria that you will find a surgeon who isn't a medical microbiologist or even a pathologist or a laboratory scientist performing test on the stool of a patient. In Nigeria, its the same doctor that will treat your eye that will still treat your skin, bones, attend to your sexual disfunction, work on your blood, heart and even your teeth that is meant to be checked by a dentist. There is no specialty at all and don't let those people deceive you by the so called residency training they do. 90% of them will not stick to it. So like I said earlier brother, if you have the money, travel out of the country. A BDS holder in Nigeria will not enjoy his life because how many people go to the dentist here? but in the USA for example, they are even more paid than the medical doctors. I have so many nurses (males for that matter) that are doing just fine. The medical field is so much appreciated there irrespective of the field. Oh wait a minute, imagine what a physiotherapist would be doing here in Nigeria ? grin Over there, they are making it big time. There are greener pastures off the shores of this country. Its left for you to exploit them.
Please, i was just admitted into Industrial chemistry In University Of Ibadan... I Chose this course right from my jamb bcoz I was told it is very marketable in Nigeria nd Overseas nd It has a lot of Job Prospects.... But, i dnt want people to use mouth to send me to a course i'll regret ever studying after 4yrs...coz, it was dat same advice dat led my friend nw to studying physiology(currently in 200L same university)..... Please, would u advice me to continue studying d course or apply jamb form along d line.
