Who told you they are thriving? Apart from Serial Lone and Liberia, the 3 are the poorest in the region! They are coupist that don't want to be accountable! All 3 coupist claimed security issues were reason they deposed their leaders. Have security improved in the countries?
yes it has!

When was the last time you heard they had security issues?

The craze ti spread democracy within the subregion has significantly reduced ecowas to a doormat status. Ecowas was ecowas when we had ibb and abacha. I remember tom ikimi publicly shouting at head of the coup in sierra leone at the presidential palace in freetown. Few days later, the coupists relinquished power.

Now, your story is no longer that Fubara was incapable of doing anything but that Fubara, even with all that is going on, is still acting the script given to him by Wike! Really? undecided

The saints are the "Innocent people" who are now throwing their support behind the very same man who helped Wike steal over a Trillion Naira of their destiny; the same man whom you now say is in fact still running Wike's script behind the scenes? Kai!

River's state people.... the thing we dey worry una deep well well! undecided
Fubara could have rather paid wike N2bn every month as agreed with Wike then you and I would never need to have this discussion. Can you not see that Fubara was made to do such against his will when he had no means to challenge WIke?

Imagine you work in a bank, had a gun to your head, and told to open the safe and hand over the money. Tomorrow you are the head of police, and said armed robber comes to you and says, give me more money from the bank. After all, I made you head of police.

A bit oversimplification here, but that's close to what is happening in Rivers state.

Finally, the reason you and I are not discussing the Delta state and Ibori is because the governor has agreed to play ball.

1. Nonsense! He had access to incriminating evidence on a sitting governor, evidence that could have easily gotten him impeached or at least close to it but never used it. Instead he helped the same steal over a trillion from the people and then settled for having some of the same money he used to get him a seat as a governor. Make una stop these ridiculous nonsense claims abeg...it nakes you lot seriously seem like a bunch of imbeciles. undecided

2. Time will not make this man a saint. Records still rqij intact that Fubara stole from the people and benefitted from the proceeds. undecided

you underestimate the resources at the disposal of a sitting governor in nigeria, especially one in an oil rich region like Rivers state. (Delta state and Ibori currently (2024) is a different story but let me not digress). this is not UK were to an extent they have fairly standard institutions that check such abuse of powers.

There is a reason I say Wike is still running his third term in Rivers state

We don't need time to tell us who is a saint or not, we already know the "saints" in this drama are the innocent people of Rivers state whose wealth is continually plundered by greedy politics. Time will show us how this matter will end.

to be fair to Fubara, he would have called WIke out at the time but could not because of his status then as a governor. Now Fubara is the governor, you can see he did not totally agree with wike's shenanigans during his time at the state house.

Time will tell, I want everyone to see the close of the matter

😂🤣 One really need to get close to the guys especially as a black guy to experience true toxicity.
na you sabi

you might be meeting people with bad character. there are racists in every country, tribe and religion. An Indian might meet some of the racist people on this thread and conclude all Nigerians are racist. Now I ask, are you racist?. . . . you will likely say "No". But out there, there is an Indian who thinks you are because they met a racist fellow on this thread

The males are just too toxic.

I agree with you that’s why I’m even here asking for advice

I told her the same thing that it’s our life and she gets to live the rest of her life with whatever decision she makes.

And come to think of it (I’m not praying bad for anyone) but the truth is these guys are old in 10-20 years even if they are still alive and physically fit their mental health may not be 100% again, just like Biden.

Her dad for example you have to repeat stuff for him over and over so slowly he is deteriorating and that’s part of the reason I want her to return so she doesn’t blame me for her dads health or death, because her family keeps saying we are the reason and I’m like b.S we only started dating less than 2 years ago this man has been sick for more than 4 years now.

But all the same she thanked me when I said it’s ok she can go even if it’s just to see her dad, her parents have promised they won’t force her into an arranged marriage when she goes back. So she’s going to stay with them for atleast 1 month when she gets back and then move on from there.

But I agree with you however I am seeing that whenever we have issues there’s no one to help us mend things everyone keeps saying breakup, and it already feels like she is doing me a favour just by being with me, fighting her family for me. Bro it’s a lot to ask from a 23-24 year old. Throw away your family for me especially because she believes like every other Indian that her family has sacrificed so much for them to be alive, to be were they are today etc.

She isn’t from a poor family where here parents abandoned her so she honestly holds them in high regard and they are making her see this as the one thing they are asking from her after giving up so much for her.

So man I have no choice but to let her go. But you are right if anything were to happen to her folks today she’d be with me 100%

everyone keeps telling you to breakup because it is the easiest thing to say without even thinking. if you read enough posts on nairaland, you will be disgusted at the lack of ideas and abundance of trash people write here daily. Problem solving gives them headache.

On one hand, the family might have someone lined up for her already (as per tradition) but we will never know until the time comes. they've already done a lot to bring her up to this level so be a good friend and support them.

Final advice for you. I hope you are making good money? Love alone is not enough.

Her father said if she returns she’ll be adding 10years to his life
The emotional blackmail done too much so she’s going… we are getting ready. I will drop her off at the airport
her family will do everything they can to discourage your relationship. Her father is more concerned about adding 10 years to his life than ensuring his daughter lives a happy life.

What type of father falls sick when he hears his daughter has found someone she loves? Ask your gf this question. If she can not answer, let her ask her father.

You said her family are educated and enlightened. what type of education did they get? Did they do it for bragging rights without actually learning anything from the process?
