Please repent from triba.lism.
Desist from misrepresenting my post and improve on your comprehension. What are you going on about tribalism? I don't lean towards that spectrum as a well-traveled and educated man. My convo and the videos (a video from 2014 in a Thailand hard drugs trafficking sting operation with the arrests of a cartel member from the East of Nigeria and the more recent one from Ghana exposing that ex-convict) I posted was largely for @WizardofNG, and any other person with the ability to discern the truth about the trend of events. I only emphasized from those videos on some of the perceptions and things that can lead to some of those killings.

There are unintended consequences that come from actions of some people largely from a specific region in the Nigerian Diaspora which rubs off negatively on the image of over 300 other distinct ethnic groups of Nigeria around the world (who are largely responsible folks) and that's my major point. It is what it is.

You hit the nail right on the head.

I was just about to post a comment that the institution is a private Catholic University (of which Peter is the Pro Chancellor as a Catholic himself) so how is this insidious OP even trying to make it look like a major donation to the South West? That's ridiculous and asinine tbh.

Peter has the prerogative to donate and spend his money however he wants, but when you see random posts from youths from the South East of Nigeria like the OP pushing weak propaganda and narratives about donations to a private Catholic institution like Dominican University, as donations to the South West, it insults people's intelligence.

French Green leader Marine Tondelier signed an open letter calling on President Emmanuel Macron to stop the contraceptives from being destroyed.

“Our country cannot be complicit, even indirectly, in retrograde policies,” the letter read. Contacted by AFP, the office of the French presidency declined to comment.

PoliticsRe: Will Tinubu Accept Wike's Challenge? by AlphaTaikun: 11:32am On Jul 29, 2025
nairavsdollars:
The recent challenge issued by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to President Bola Tinubu over the long-buried forensic audit report of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is a topical issue that should be given serious consideration, especially in an era of heightened public demand for accountability and transparency.

Wike’s bold declaration—stating that he would resign from Tinubu’s cabinet if the report fails to substantiate his corruption allegations—is more than political theatre. It is a test of the president’s commitment to transparency, anti-corruption, and political courage to do what is right in the interest of the country and the constitution he swore to uphold.

Earlier this month, Wike, in his monthly ‘presidential’ media chat, had alleged that Judith Amaechi, the wife of his former boss in Rivers state, Rotimi Amaechi, was receiving N4bn monthly from the interventionist agency through her NGO. During the interview, the FCT minister asked President Tinubu to publish the forensic audit report of the NDDC, adding that if his claim was not there, he would resign as minister.

Amaechi, however, broke her silence last week. Speaking through her media aide, Dike Bekwele, she challenged Wike to make public his version of the forensic audit report on the NDDC, where either she or her non-governmental organisation, Empowerment Support Initiative, was indicted. Failure to do so, she said, Wike should make good on his threat to resign as FCT minister. Wike and Amaechi’s wife wanted the report published so as to clear all allegations. Nigerians also wanted the report published because of the national attention the NDDC saga generated, especially in July 2020. The current senate president, Godswill Akpabio, who was then the Niger Delta minister, accused members of the national assembly of cornering most of the contracts in the NDDC during a national assembly investigative hearing.

Responding to questions from the panel members on how contracts were handed out in the NDDC, Akpabio said, “most of the contracts in the NDDC are given out to members of the national assembly, but you don’t know about it.” In a frantic bid to stop Akpabio from spilling the beans, the chairman of the investigative panel, Thomas Ereyitomi, kept shouting, “Honourable minister, it’s okay, it’s okay. Off your mic!” That cliché ‘off your mic’ has become a mainstay in Nigeria’s lexicon today.

PropertiesRe: Lagos Luxury Estates Where Residents Live In Misery by AlphaTaikun: 11:07pm On Jul 27, 2025
Ironfaceman:
Affluent estates in Lagos command luxury prices comparable to those in Dubai, London, or Johannesburg, yet fall far short of delivering the essential services found in some of those cities. Despite paying millions for an upscale lifestyle, residents grapple daily with crumbling roads, erratic water supply, and deteriorating infrastructure. Chijioke Iremeka writes about the harsh reality inside these wealthy enclaves and how residents invest heavily in a lifestyle that remains frustratingly out of reach

In Lagos, where appearances often matter more than substance, the real estate market starkly mirrors Nigeria’s deeper urban dysfunction. Across the upscale neighbourhoods of Lekki, Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Banana Island, and the emerging ‘premium’ estates on the mainland, thousands of residents awaken daily to a frustrating and sobering reality.

To Paul Omenka, who lives in Lekki Phase 1, the affluent estate represents a costly illusion.

There, residents pay millions of naira and dollars in rent, mortgages, and service charges for homes that fail to provide even the most basic amenities.
“In a place like Lekki, where the promise of elite living once enticed many, the reality today is far from glamorous,” Omenka said.

He noted that in many of Lagos affluent estates, residents still depend heavily on private boreholes or tankers for potable water
, as the municipal supply remains unreliable.

Many roads within these estates are poorly constructed or left unpaved, washing away with every heavy rainfall and turning into muddy, impassable tracks.
Waste disposal is erratic at best. Drainage systems are either open, clogged, or simply nonexistent, creating perfect breeding grounds for mosquitoes and escalating flood risks during the rainy season,” he added

Saturday PUNCH gathered that despite these glaring deficiencies, tenants and homeowners dutifully pay service charges that can run into hundreds of thousands, sometimes even millions of naira annually.

“It’s not just about potholes or the frequent power outages that Lagosians have long come to accept as normal; the problems run far deeper,” Omenka enthused.

He noted that diesel generators hum constantly due to the unreliable power supply, while security, something that should be guaranteed in gated communities, is often outsourced to ill-equipped guards.

“Sometimes, even after a light rain, the streets remain waterlogged,” he said.

“Sometimes, even after a light rain, the streets remain waterlogged,” he said.

Saturday PUNCH learnt that while Lagos residents in these overpriced estates struggle to manage their environment, similarly priced communities abroad, in cities like Dubai, London, or Johannesburg, offer flawless infrastructure, 24/7 utilities, advanced security systems, and efficient estate management.

There, service charges are transparent, maintenance is visible, and residents have a genuine voice. In Lagos, there is a huge gap in estate management, a system designed more to collect fees than to serve residents,” Omenka noted.

FamilyRe: At What Age Did You/will You Write Your WILL? by AlphaTaikun: 4:49pm On Jul 26, 2025
IyaTola:
Reasons Many Nigerians Avoid Writing Wills:

1. Cultural Beliefs & Superstition
Many people believe writing a will invites death or bad luck. Some fear that planning for death may “bring it closer.”

2. Denial of Mortality
A lot of young people (and even older ones) don’t want to think about death. They believe “I’m still young, there’s time.”

3. Lack of Assets (or the Perception of It)
Some think they don’t have enough property or money to justify writing a will. But a will isn’t just about property — it’s about structure, clarity, and peace of mind.

4. Fear of Family Drama
Some worry that writing a will might stir up tension or suspicion in the family. Others don’t trust that their wishes will be respected even if documented.

5. Ignorance or Lack of Legal Access
Many don’t know how or where to start. Some believe it’s only for the super-rich or those with lawyers.

Why Writing a Will Early is Smart:
✅ It protects your spouse, children, and dependents.
✅ It prevents family conflict or legal battles.
✅ It gives you peace of mind.
✅ It helps allocate not just assets, but guardianship, debts, digital assets, etc.
✅ You can update it anytime — it's not final forever.
Impressive takes.

Cybercrimes act now in force: FG issues strong warnings to internet users

6th July, 2025

By Michael Adesina

The Federal Government has formally enacted the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act into full force, making all its provisions legally binding across the country.

The announcement serves as a strong warning to internet users, content creators, and digital platform administrators to acquaint themselves with the law and ensure strict compliance.

The Cybercrimes Act, which outlines several offenses related to digital conduct, is aimed at curbing criminal activity online, protecting national infrastructure, and ensuring the safety and integrity of Nigeria’s digital space.

Key Offenses and Penalties

Under the now-active Act, several offenses carry serious legal consequences, including imprisonment terms ranging from two years to life, depending on the severity of the crime.

Some of the major offenses outlined include:

Unauthorized Access to Devices (Section 3):
Gaining access to another person’s phone, computer, or digital device without their consent is a criminal offense.

Penalty: Up to 5 years imprisonment.

Tampering with Digital Data (Section 4):
Altering, deleting, or interfering with another person’s digital files or information without lawful authority is now punishable by law.

Penalty: Up to 5 years imprisonment.

Disclosure of Critical Infrastructure Information (Section 5):
Sharing classified or sensitive government or national infrastructure data with unauthorized individuals constitutes a grave offense.

Penalty: Up to 15 years imprisonment.

Recording Private Conversations (Section 10):
Recording conversations without proper authorization—even as a participant—is deemed a violation of privacy.

Publishing False or Misleading Information (Section 19):
Spreading fake news or deliberately deceptive content online is now a criminal act.

Penalty: Up to 2 years imprisonment.

Online Harassment and Abuse (Section 22):
Posting vulgar, offensive, or indecent content with the intent to embarrass or cause distress constitutes online abuse.

Penalty: Up to 2 years imprisonment.

Inciting Ethnic or Religious Hatred (Section 24):
Any online or offline act aimed at provoking ethnic, tribal, or religious hatred is categorized under domestic terrorism. Investment opportunities

Penalty: Life imprisonment.

Group Admins to Be Held Liable

The government also issued a stern warning to administrators of WhatsApp groups, Facebook pages, Telegram channels, and other digital communities. According to the Act, admins can be held legally responsible if they knowingly allow the circulation of illegal or harmful content within their groups.

“Admins must actively moderate their platforms and enforce community guidelines. Ignorance or negligence will not be an acceptable defense under the law,” the statement noted.

Stay Informed, Stay Protected

As the digital landscape evolves, the Federal Government is urging all Nigerians to exercise responsibility and caution in their online engagements. Citizens are advised to verify the legality of their digital actions to avoid prosecution.

“Cyberlaw is not optional. It is now an enforceable framework with consequences. Every Nigerian, especially those active online, must be aware and comply accordingly,” the notice emphasized.

The government emphasized that ignorance of the law will not shield violators from penalties and encouraged the public to stay informed in order to remain legally protected.

Your last paragraph shows how impressionable and unintelligent some of you can be. You have the audacity to even make more misleading allegations above against someone you don't know. The world is a very small place and I'm quite close to some of the people in that boy's defamatory post and you have the nerve to say that you cross-checked the 3 FALSE accusations that person wrote?

I've been a veteran member of NL for 2 decades now and I totally detest very dishonesty people who like to engage in sophistry to manipulate others. The truth is very important in life. I'm NOT and have NEVER been a member of your so-called political parties over there in Nigeria.

This is a discussion forum of which I have been a member of for 20 years now and I find it highly disrespectful that some of you the younger ones here, and those "paid ipob troll farms" would come here to post deliberately fabricated disinformation while defaming others. For your information, I'm quite close to some of the people mentioned or defamed in that post by the supposed Northern guy's post (I STRONGLY doubt he's a Northerner). I gave him a second chance to rethink his insidious ways and I will NOT warn him or any one of you again. I repeat, if he and his ilk do NOT desist from defaming others based off of FALSE allegations, there will be dire consequences.

Omoyele Sowere for instance has published many stories this year which turned out to be totally FALSE with NO apologies offered to his readers. This isn't the Omoyele we used to know when he was a UNILAG Student Union leader in the very early 1990s and then later in the 2000s with his investigative reports (despite his self-confession that he is NOT a trained Journalist). The Gazette owners are even worse than SR in defaming people. The investigative journalism of folks like Dele Giwa's in the 1980s will never be forgotten by those of us who read his columns back then. These ones that love to publish misleading stories such as PG will learn the hard way.

Nothing to see here. Tinubu and betrayal of allies are like 5 and 6. He's the master of use and dump. Tinubu and his vendetta for any businessman or captain of industry who dares to do anything for opposition figures is simply pathetic.

Its the main reason why he raided Dangote's headquarters on allegation of dollar racketeering and sought to kill his refinery until Dangote "succumbed" and became his sycophant.

It was also why he had problems with Sanwo-olu on fictitious allegations that he funded Atiku. Tinubu is an authoritarian who lives in morbid fear of opposition.
Hey! STOP posting IRRESPONSIBLE, unverified and highly defamatory comments here. A lot of the things you referenced in your insidious post NEVER happened and you're just spreading wild rumors and innuendos online. You have to be careful how you spread deliberate disinformation on this website which I often see you do.

Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu NEVER funded Atiku Abubakar and it was the highly IRRESPONSIBLE publishers of the online publication People's Gazette that fabricated that story. It's NOT everything you read online that you believe and then regurgitate again online or offline to others which shows that you are very gullible alonside the others quoting you on this same thread page to support your FALSE allegations. Always fact-check things published by People's Gazette, Sahara Reporters and Gist Lover which are notorious for sensationalism, spreading disinformation and half-truths to a lot of gullible readers. The newly signed Cyber Crime Law in Nigeria is in full effect already and there will be dire consequences for these kinds of posts that are meant to defame others and mislead the public.

You are NOT anonymous online and you CANNOT be throwing up baseless speculations and insulting Aliko Dangote that he is a sycophant to the Nigerian President which is a figment of your wild imagination. What the hell is all that gibberish you posted ABOVE? Be guided.
